I have been to several Giordano's over the years. I have ALWAYS loved their food. ESPECIALLY their amazing chicago style Pizza. This location is no different as far as being amazing food. Sadly .. and may i add VERY sadly. The service at this location is HORRID!!!!!!!! I have eaten here on several occasions. (its not that far from where i live and i am always in the area) Every single time i have gone here i have gotten TERRIBLE service. First they seat you ok fine nothing special. Then the waiter/waitress doesn't come to get your drink order the bus boy always does. Now while this is very nice of them it is NOT their job. When the server FINALLY does come over they never seem to give a shit at all about us and half the time barely speak english. The pizza takes a while but i expect that with a Pie as good as i get (the only good thing there is the food) I NEVER see the server ever again or if i do i am totally ignored. No stopping by to see if everything is good if i need anything or even if i just need a refill. I always end up having to eather HUNT down my server or ask the bus boys for help. Last time i went there it was with my mom (about 3 or so months ago) and we BOTH have had terrible service there but had decided that for the sake of the Pizza we would give it ONE LAST try. Same shit. We actually gave the server NO tip (and i have worked in the restaurant business so i KNOW all about living off of tips)and handed it DIRECTLY to the bus boy who was VERY nice. My mom went over and talked to the manager explaining how EVERY time we come there the service is terrible and how we will never come here again. I'm a big fan of this Giordano's. The salads are amazing, the deep dish pizza is top notch, and overall it's a great experience. There is better pizza in Chicago, and Giordano's is a chain, but it's a consistently excellent experience. read more

I've been to this Giordano's pizza a couple of times. I recently moved to Chicago from New England, and I wanted try a real deep dish pizza as opposed to the thinner style. I wasn't disappointed. The pizza was delicious. The crust was cooked perfectly, and I felt that the ratio of sauce to cheese to toppings was just right. Make sure you bring friends, because the pizzas are huge and filling, but didn't make me feel stuffed. The service has been very good both times I've been to this particular Giordano's. They set the right expectations that the deep dish pizza will take about 35-40 minutes to cook. They busboy came over frequently to refill our waters, which is something I always appreciate and take notice of. The last time I went, I ordered the fried portobella mushrooms. My friend and I thought they were pretty horrible, and the waitress was nice enough to take it off of our bill. I appreciated that. I can't speak for many of the other appetizers, so I 'm not going to knock them for one possibly bad menu item. I would recommend if you are looking for a general deep dish pizza! read more

First time in Chicago and was told Giordano's stuffed pizza was a "must". I didn't hate it, but I certainly would not go back for the pizza: too much cheese, and the crust lacked flavor and....that spark that good crust has. It was pretty much just cheese and bread with a little bit of tomato sauce (which I will admit was my favorite part). A good pizza brings together these elements to make something much more magical than bread, cheese, and tomato (think Pepe's Pizza in New Haven). I don't know if Giordano's is representative of Chicago Pizza as a whole, but I would have to say it's worth passing by. read more

Decent stuffed pizza except for the crust. Too much like pie crust, not enough like deep dish pizza crust for my liking. Greek salad not bad either. Not cheap. But the real problem with this place is that they do not open bottles of wine at the table, but bring them already opened. Major NO NO. You don't know what's in the bottle. I ordered a stuffed pizza with spinach for a Friday night dinner during Lent,. The website seems a bit basic, but it worked well and they take you to a tracker which was very accurate in tracking the progress of your pizza. Chicago pizzas do take a while to prepare, so I wasn't surprised at the one hour wait time. The delivery driver delivered the food right to my apartment, which was nice. The pizza was excellent. Yes, it is heavy on the cheese, the sauce is mild, the crust is excellent. I choose to heat the pizza up for a few minutes, but it was warm enough to eat after the delivery in cold weather. read more

Stuffed pizza= AMAZING! I went to Chicago for the first time this year & was looking for a great pizza place. I heard of this place & we decided to try it out. I'm glad we did! The place was pretty busy and it took about 40 minutes for our pizza to be served, but it was totally worth it! A small is just enough for two people because just like the pizza, you'll be stuffed after one or two pieces! I cannot wait to visit Chicago again & make my way to Giordano's. read more

Haven't been to a Giordano's in years and now I know why. Had the calamari to start, it was undercooked and had odds and ends deep fried in it. Stuffed pizza was really tasteless and really bad. Service was ridiculously slow to none! Thought there was more to this place but obviously not. Spoke with the Mgr and he comped entire meal, only problem is we're in Chicago for a short time and with SO much good food here I'm sorry we wasted a meal here. read more

If I could post with a negative star I would but it won't let me!!! Worst service EVER! Wish I could upload pictures of how vacant this place was at 7:15 tonight (50%) because there were lots of open tables yet we waited 15+ minutes, yes I finally set a timer, and NOBODY came by and asked us our drink order and of course they never took out food order and we WALKED out but not before we told the 3 employees chatting up a storm at the check in booth. This was the WORST restaurant service we experienced in Chicago so far and we were at The Weber Grill last nite, The 96th at the John Handcock Building, Gino's the night before, Twin Anchors Thursday nite. I was a Chicago deep dish virgin. I am no more-- 5 ordered pepperoni and vegatarian deep dish. Beers, and a wine for drinks (over priced of course). A minestrone and a taramisu. The good-- Holy cow, the pizza and crust are amazing. The price not so. But you get what you pay for. Service attentive and quick. The bad--minestrone--if you have Campbells veggie soup in your cupboard--you have it. Too bad! I am a big soup lover. Will continue my quest for the quintessential Chicago minetrone. This Giordano's location was probably the single worst ordering experience I've ever had. They took twice as long to deliver the pizza as they said they would - and that was only the beginning. Then I went to answer the door and the driver wasn't there. I had to call him and give him directions from where he actually was. That was forgivable though, that's not even the worst part. We got the pizza inside, and it wasn't our order at all! It had our name and address on it, but was completely the wrong order. It was like they didn't listen to one word of what we said. When we called them back, they told us we should keep the pizza because we would like it more than what we ordered. No "we're sorry about that," no offer to drive another pizza out. Not even an explanation - They literally told us what we got was better anyways and we should just eat it. I can't believe they wouldn't do ANYTHING to correct their own mistake. It sounds ridiculous but...we spent so long salivating over the pizza because of the lengthy wait that getting the wrong one seriously ruined our whole night. read more

Can't comment on the food because my boyfriend and I waited for 20 minutes for someone to take our order and no one even stopped by to take our order or greet us. A busboy brought water but no one took our order after waiting 20 full minutes. After waiting so long, I very politely asked one of the servers, "Excuse me miss, do you know if we have a server?" She rudely responded, "I will find out." No smile or anything. She looked annoyed. After a few more minutes, we walked out and went to a Mexican restaurant across the street where we had excellent service and great food. I used to love Giordano's -- the stuffed pizza is a cheese lover's dream, and I was positively obsessed with their thin crust pepperoni. The stuffed pizza is still ok, but it's not as good as it used to be (at least at this location). And worse, I don't know what they changed about their thin crust, but the crust itself is different, they're super skimpy with the cheese now, and the pepperoni they started using tastes cheap and is just not good. Nothing hits the spot like a slice of Giordano's deep dish pizza! I have a soft spot in my heart for this place. It had been awhile since I had last been here, and it appears that they have a new updated menu. We got our usual (deep dish pizza with spinach and sausage), and also decided to try the "vesuvio" chicken wings. Everyone at our table was impressed by this twist on the traditional appetizer. The food was good, however, it was the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. The only time our server came to our table without asking for her was when she brought our food. We are not from Chicago, we came to town for the Cardinals and Cubs game, and I had a cardinals shirt and hat on. Yes, I realize they sponsor the Cubs, however; I have never felt more discrimination in my entire life! There were several female workers giving me dirty looks as my husband and I were walking out. I've ordered from this location on numerous occasions. Typically there is some delay with the order. Today, I waited two and a half hours for my delivery which never showed up. When I called to inquire I was told that the company tried to call but there was no answer and that they had the wrong address. Moreover, there was no apology or solution. I was told my pizza had been sitting for an extremely long period of time and they would deliver it if I wanted it in the condition that it was in. There are numerous pizza restaurants in Chicago that actually try to please the customer or fulfill their clients orders in a timely fashion. After being a client of giordanos for many years I am happy to bring my business elsewhere. read more

I'm visiting from out of town so I was excited. My friend and I showed up and they said there was a wait and encouraged us to order a drink and the pizza ahead of time. Allison Schoenbacher (GM) told us to wait at the bar for our table. My friend and I sat at the bar and after ordering drinks and the rest of our meal, we were told by the bar staff that Allison said we were 'overserved' despite the fact that we were sober and simply looking to order a drink while waiting. We raised the issue to management and they did nothing. Allison (GM of the restaurant) did nothing and just shrugged her shoulders. She had no care for her customers or the "great service" Giordano's purportedly provides... nothing...worst service ever. My recommendation- go elsewhere... it's not worth your time. Allison fails in all aspects of customer service and and Giordano's fails to live up to any aspect of Chicago pizza. Disappointed. read more
