This is Pizza! Came here on vacation after doing the Wrigley tour cause the boys wanted to experience Chicago Pizza. Giordano's not only hit the mark, it blew through the top of the scale. And we had left overs that were boxed to go. So good I was disappointed when that box had to be thrown out cause even though it was empty, it was so good just to smell the empty box. Only complaint, but was totally worth it, was it took longer for the deep dish so plan to spend some time there and enjoy. The server warned us up front and we didn't care. Stopped in on my way to the airport. Was a little disappointed in the lunch special. We typically or a large custom pizza. The evening staff does a great job preparing it to our liking. The difference between the personal pizza and the large is the meat. There is a sausage patty covering most of the pizza when we order the large, with the personal pizza, there were a few pieces of sausage. SAD. On a Sunday afternoon it wasn't busy, there was one waiter and he handled the entire room without a problem. I'm not sure who decides the channels on the 6 screens, however I found the one with the Bears game on it. One was showing Doctors beyond Borders?? no one wants to watch surgeries while eating. I would rather hear the game than the music playing, however I think that's a corporate decision. I will be back, however I will not order a personal size again. read more

The inside looks like a typical pizza parlor, very clean, and nicely laid out. The hostess was a bit curt, but I get it when she has a line forming around the whole block. Ordered the $10.99 lunch special: personal pepperoni deep dish pizza with the parmesean fries. The novelty of a Chicago style pizza is great, but the pizza itself (at least at this vendor) is rather normal. I also tasted the Margherita pizza and be prepared to eat a couple pounds of cheese. Giordanos was my first shot at deep dish pizza. I will go on the record saying I do not like deep dish pizza being a kid from Jersey. I grew up with thin crust Ny/Nj style pizza so deep dish just doesn't do it for me. But I do appreciate the style and culture of the Chicago iconic pizza. The cheese pull is epic and was very excited to this. I will say from consensus between Chicago folks that Giordanos is not going to be the go to spot when experiencing deep dish. To me it was a sloppy cheese mess. I know it is their claim to fame but the cheese is overkill. Waaayyyyyyy to much cheese, it just feels like it's throw on a plate with no effort. It saddens me to write this, but it's more like 1 star. We had guests, so we had to do Stuffed 1 time for them. The food was worse than bland. The crust tasted stale and frozen. This is a solid spot for deep dish pizza! I went for the first time last week with my brother, who was visiting from out of town. He wanted to get deep dish during his time in Chicago and had wanted to try Giordano's. We both enjoyed our meal. I was not aware of how large Giordano's menu was! The options are nice in case you aren't in the mood for deep dish - you'll definitely find something else to enjoy! We split multiple appetizers and each got our own personal deep dish. We were able to walk in and be seated right away. Restaurant had a decent amount of seating. While in town for vacation I took my teenage boys here for their first Chicago style deep dish experience. They didn't believe me about how filling it is so we had leftovers. The cheese pull was great and they enjoyed the pie. I suggest calling ahead to order even if eating in so you don't have an hour wait in store from the time you order. I had a gluten free pizza and it was very good. I was worried about cross contamination being a busy Saturday night and I am sensitive. I didn't have any reaction. For the pizza, we ordered a Make-Your-Own. In an attempt to recreate the pizza we love at Zachary's, we ordered a deep dish pizza with spinach and mushrooms. It looked beautiful. It tasted okay, but the overwhelming flavor was of the cheese. The pizza was very cheese heavy. You'd think a pizza with lots of cheese would be the bees knees. I couldn't pass up trying out a local chain with famous deep dish pizza. The deep dish was cheesy, saucy, and filling, but there was something missing as it did not stand out in its flavor. The taste reminded me more of a standard pizza from other chains, but in Chicago deep dish form. Still, it was good with plenty leftover. The fried calamari and lemon rings starter was excellent. Honestly i havent been to a Giordano's since i was probably in elementary school as we were always a lou's family. However, i now follow a low carb diet so looking at the menu online and seeing 6 salad options this looked like a great place to get lunch with my fam while in the city. I got the Greek salad and added grilled chicken and it was great! I would 100% get it again. tons of toppings that all tasted fresh. We were debating on doing fast food but this was way better. Not bad, but doesn't stand out. Yes, I know I'm reviewing a chain - so to some extent it's not going to be anything out of this world. Giordano's gets the job done - no more, no less. It's definitely a good amount of food for your money, no one will argue that. But it doesn't leave you with that "wow" factor. It's just a deep dish pizza, with lots of sauce and cheese. With that said, I haven't tried the thin crust here and have heard that it's solid. So I'll probably return. My condolences for those who have dined at this establishment. From the moment I stepped in it was an udder disappointment, it felt as if I walked into chilis, if the chilis were an art major in college. Not authentic Chicago at all. The host rarely greeted us and walked us to a table in the middle of the restaurant by cement pole without saying a word. The restaurant wasn't even full. My cousin and I had Evonne as our waitress. She took our order and thats about all we ever saw of her. We got wings and a chicago style deep dish pizza. As we waited for our meals we sat with empty beverages for over 30 minutes. The wings were mediocre. Rather soggy, they tasted like they sat in the window for a few minutes. A lady had been going around the restaurant with a camera taking touristy photos of patrons. She then came up to us and asked me to kiss my cousin on the cheek which made me feel profoundly uncomfortable but it felt like I was pinned against a wall. After 10 more minutes of awkwardness trying to act like I didn't kiss my cousin our Pizza arrived. Not bad at all. Cheese pull was there but the ingredients were not fresh. Definitely better pizza in Chicago. Once we were finished we looked around for our waitress for 40 minutes to drop off a check. She walked by us twice. Didn't even acknowledge us, never once checked in on us throughout our meal, asked how the pizza was, asked how the wings were, or even refreshed our beverages. It took us getting up with our coats on for a manager to finally acknowledge us and give us our check. My favorite hometown pizzeria: Giordanos! Visited home (Chicago) and decided to venture to the Northside for deep-dish pizza. This is one of my all time favorites. At times, parking can be a hassle here. Be careful not to get a ticket.. We entered the restaurant and was seated. No wait times. Got some drinks and attempted to order. Our server was not as familiar with the menu options. After attempting to show her the items on the menu, she stated that she would check with manager to see if they served it... She came back with a bit of an attitude, but then corrected it. Overall good experience with the exception of this. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could (based on service). We were told to place our pizza order at the counter and then sit on the closed half of the restaurant until a table was available. We ordered our pizza and waited longer than anticipated for a table. Once at our table the lackluster server took our drink order. We asked for soda and water. She returned with soda. We waited for water and eventually had to ask another server for water because we had not seen our original server. Salads and water eventually reached our table. When our pizza was done we were asked if we wanted it and that was brought over as well. The pizzas were good as were the salads just not a memorable experience in any way. Maybe the server or restaurant as a whole had an off night but I would definitely try a different deep dish place next time I'm in Chicago. Pro tip: they do not take reservations. I was not expecting what was served but I went in without much expectation beyond "pizza" -admittedly I was thinking more along the lines of "thick crust" and NOPE, WRONG. I did order a drink (Long Island) that was too sour but I didn't have high expectations for a pizza place family restaurant bar. That said, skip the cocktail and stick with water or a soda. At this Giordano's location on Belmont Ave, you experience the full Chicago atmosphere with all their Chicago Cubs decor. Very updated, clean and modern style. We started with the Greek salad and minestrone soup. Salad was delicious! Generous portion of feta cheese (pictured). For the main course we ordered the Chicago Classic deep dish (sausage, mushroom, green peppers and onion). Delicious! Perfect spot for families or group gatherings before or after Chicago Cubs games. Sounds wonderful. It started bad with the slow service to start with, but the pie was awesome. It is so big that we split a small pie between 3 people. We have been back to Chicago multiple times but each time we try to stop here and got some good pie. We actually just got a Giordano's in Columbus, OH. It has been so busy that we have not been able to stop by. We will definitely be in one day, hopefully soon before it gets to warm. Only because it will be even busier with the kids being home for spring break & and summer vacation. They will all be ordering pizza while their parents are at work. My man does not like anything but pepperoni on his pizza. I am trying to get him to try something different. Maybe we can try some of their specialty pies.
