    Pesto 14"
    Kyle P.

Debuting about a month ago, Lusha is wood-fired pizza made with care by folks from Firenze. Lusha has all the ingredients to be a 5 star pizza spot, but they fell just a bit short on this first visit. High quality ingredients and a perfectly cooked, chewy crust are the stars of the show. They immediately hold the mantle of best cheese on a pizza in Chicago, real mozzarella reminiscent of the best of the best back home in New York. A true highlight, along with a pretty well-seasoned, perfectly executed dough and crust. What I'd love to see to put them over the top is better seasoning. The pesto was a bit oily and lackluster to be honest, not adding as much flavor and contrast as I would have expected. Quite honestly, all it needs is some extra salt and pepper, long an issue with Chicago pizza, but surprising from pizza makers from Italy. I will definitely be back to try some other styles, and I have a lot of confidence I'll be updating this review to a 5 down the line. Either way, once you add your own salt and pepper, Lusha is immediately in the conversation for top 5 pizza spots in this city.

This pizza is unmatched in Lakeview. I happened to walk by so I grabbed 2 slices for dinner. The crust is crispy but also soft in the middle, buttery, cheese and toppings are super fresh. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommend.

This place is wonderful! The pizzas are crispy, tasty and authentic. Definitely 1000% recommended.

Friendly (family owned?) staff with a variety of pizza (both whole pies and by the slice), pastas, and desserts. We got a whole pie: half cheese and half Lusha, both of which were delicious! All the ingredients had flavor from the cheese to the sauce to the crust. I definitely recommend them and can't wait to come try out more. We also tried a strawberry dessert and a Nutella dessert, both of which we enjoyed. It's in a cute little space with some seating for those who want to dine in.

Ordered from Lusha a few times before. This place produces pizza that is a perfect balance between New York and Neapolitan styles. The crust is soft and chewy with a crispy base yet tastes like a rustic slice from Spacca Napoli. Every time it's been consistently great, authentic, and a nice break from tavern/deep dish.

This pizza is incredible. The family who runs this is so sweet - they use a lot of ingredients from Italy, and you can tell. We chatted with them for quite a while learning about their journey from Florence to Chicago. We ordered a medium sausage and a Caesar pizza. The dough alone is worth it - thin and crispy crust, but not too much. It was lighter on the sauce and cheese, which was truly perfect. We will absolutely be back. Go support this new pizza place!

The owners of Lusha are an Italian family who moved to Chicago from Florence 2 years ago, and you can taste it in the pie. Chicago is overflowing with good deep dish, tavern style, and specialty thin crust pizza, but is severely lacking in great, reliable, classic NY style slices. Lusha fills this void perfectly. Make sure you try the pizza AND the wings. It seems like a lot of pizza joints in town have wings on the menu to check a box, but Lusha's are phenomenal.

Speaking of the bar, I got myself a pint of the Golden Road Mango Cart, which did have a fragrance of mangoes. I was a bit annoyed the bartender asked for my ID thinking I was a high schooler (I guess white people in Chicago generally don't have any meaningful relationship with Asians compared to other major cities because this wasn't a one time thing - and I've been to a lot of cities), but at least he tried to smooth it out with a joke. Fine, moving on. I got myself a personal deep dish pizza, since this joint is known for their caramelized crust, although I did wish I got myself a small instead so I can have it delivered in the pan itself. Maybe next time, but I did eat the whole thing. The sauce was more on the bitter and acidic side. The toppings aren't layered and hiding underneath cheese like some other places, which is fine, but I did think it could've used more mushrooms and a more even distribution of toppings considering how thick the bread is. Overall it was worth going out of my way to try it once, as it was highly recommended to me, I'd say it takes #2 so far of all the pizza places I've tried in Chicago. Granted, I didn't have time or didn't come with anyone to share a bunch of things, but maybe next time.

They push the Mediterranean Bread, and honestly, you should let them. It's enormous, blistered, fragrant, and arrives like a hot air balloon made of carbs. More importantly, it gives you something genuinely delicious to tear into while you wait for the pizza pot pies to emerge from whatever subterranean chamber they're baked in. It's both a starter and a survival tool. A reservation is non‑negotiable unless you enjoy contemplating your own mortality in a weekend crowd. The wait times can stretch so long you could starve to death before your name is called -- and the regulars will nod knowingly as they step around your skeleton. Plan ahead. The salads are comically oversized, the kind of portions that make you wonder if they're meant for a family of four or a single very determined marathon runner. But let's be honest: no one is here for lettuce. We're all here for the pizza pot pie, that molten, bread‑wrapped, cheese‑laden dome of joy that defies every attempt at categorization. It's not deep dish, it's not thin crust -- it's its own thing entirely, and that's the point. This is the place you bring out‑of‑town guests when you want to show them something uniquely Chicago without defaulting to the usual deep‑dish suspects. But it's also the place you come back to on your own, because once you've had that pizza pot pie, it lives rent‑free in your brain until you return.
