To do Detroit style pizza right you need to have great crust and this crust game is on point. Slices are pretty filling but each bite is light and airy. Tried a few different slices and the spacca was by far the most interesting. The Italian sausage was great along with the pistachio cream sauce a nice combination that worked well together. The other slices were also good. Pro Tip: order online, park outside the building and text to let them know you arrived. They will bring you pizza out right away to take and bake at home

**3.75** In response to my own review in 2021, no, this is not the best pizza in Chicago. Perhaps it was as a then new and exciting, unique option when they started out doing orders at The Hatchery, but in a very crowded field, while still good, it is no longer the standout it may have once been. First of all, congratulations to the husband and wife team on their success since my first visit during covid - they now have a brick and mortar location (for pick up and delivery only), and have a three-day-a-week pop up at nearby Off Color, which is a wonderful collaboration as those beers pair very nicely with this pizza. They remain one of the few places that do Detroit style (Pistores does as well), and having sampled several in Detroit, I can say they do it well. The dough is light and airy, and the crust is great - I may prefer a more caramelized crust than what they do, but it is tasty nonetheless. What's changed for me in the past three years is simply the execution on the sauce, cheese, and toppings. They par-bake the dough (as many places do), and then do toppings afterwards for service. The sauces don't have great depth of flavor - they're fine, but they're "mid" as the kids might say. I don't really get much of the vodka sauce flavor in the Tie Dye (though the pesto is good), and the red sauce is just ok on the Upside Down. The roasted garlic white sauce for the White Pie lacked really any roasted garlic taste, kind of a shame, even if it was an enjoyable slice overall. The ingredients don't seem to be top tier ingredients either, and that makes a difference. Look at George's or Milly's (and I still think Milly's uses too much sauce), you can really taste the quality and the freshness. Or even the tang of Bartoli's sauce, you're just not getting that with these slices. And, I have to say, especially the Tie Dye, the slices were really greasy. Like, needing a napkin to soak the oil off greasy. Sure, it's pizza, but I do not remember this the last time I had it. Maybe the pop up isn't 100% representative of what you might get if you do takeout from the shop, but it has to be close, especially if this is essentially their home away from home. They both seem like lovely people, and they're going to continue to do well especially because of the pop up, but the bloom is a little off the rose here as I used to consider this a great gourmet pizza option. Now, if I recalibrate to view it as brewery pizza that goes really well with a beer or two? Well, then yea, it's more of a Pequod's than a George's, and that's ok. But, at close to $6 a slice, maybe I do want something closer to the latter than the former. But, hey, what do I know, I don't have a YouTube channel with millions of followers ;)

Five Squared is the plug if you're craving Detroit‑style 'za without the fuss, grabbed their Four‑Slice Box, plus a cheesy garlic bread. The crust got that perfect airy crunch with crispy, cheesy edges and the toppings were legit. Ordering was low‑key, hit them up via DoorDash, IG DM, or their site and the take‑and‑bake setup made it feel like a home‑cook flex. Pulled them straight from the oven and it felt fresh like you were at Off Color Brewing on tap‑room night. Their ghost‑kitchen vibe is super Chicago: no frills, just straight‑up fire pizza that pops on everything from Condé Nast lists to Barstool reviews. Totally worth the hype--and the occasional grease‑drip.

This place is INCREDIBLE. I'm such a sucker for sharing different things at restaurants which makes this place a favorite for me as you can try a bit of everything. They always have unique flavor slices. The pizza looks amazing once opening the box but once you pop them in the oven... that's when the magic happens! Once of the best pizzas I've ever had (and I make pizza myself at home from scratch!)

I ordered via Uber Eats; therefore I cannot comment on service or ambiance. I haven't thought about take and bake pizza since Papa John's. I didn't quite know what to make of the take and bake Detroit style, but after reading the ingredients to every style I knew that Five Squared Pizza was on to something. My wife and I tried the pepperoni, Tie Dye, Ricotta Pepperoni and Hot Honey, Carnivore, Spacca, Burrata Caprese, and White Pie. All of which were BANGING!!!!!!!!! The crust goes hard! It's crisp caramelized cheesiness like Peqoud's/Tortorice's, golden crusted Detroit style slices that are pretty filling. I'm a foodie and was full after two slices. Wife and I could have shared four slices and still been full for a day. The price isn't bad considering quantity and quality, and I didn't mind baking it myself because it came out the air fryer perfect!!!! This is my new favorite pizza in the city, and I will be back to try them all!

With gourmet Detroit-style pizza in a city known for its deep-dish, Five Squared Pizza holds their own weight. Ordering a small cube shaped pizza over Instagram DM on a Friday night and picking it up "take and bake" style is something I never thought I would do, but after doing it about 7 times over the course of 10 weeks, I'd happily put in the extra work again for them. A pizza with only four slices may not sound like a lot, but the slices are large enough to be cut in two and are packed with so many toppings that finishing an entire pizza in one night becomes daunting fast. Eating each slice is almost like a pizza tasting if you take advantage of their Mix & Match concept, where you can mix up to 4 flavors in your box. Just make sure to order early - they make a limited amount of each flavor each night and the most popular flavors sell out quick.

Best Detroit style and maybe the best pizza I have had in Chicago. So airy and delightful.

First visit and it was alright... husband and I both agree it was overall a 3.5-4. We got the Nashville chicken and pepperoni stromboli. Both agree the Nashville chicken was better...but the pepperoni is predictable and tasted as expected. Added a side of homemade ranch for $2 (for a small dipping cup that is a bit pricey in my opinion) For pizza we got the PBJ, Tie Dye, Mushroom and Big Red. All were good and enjoyed each had their own individual taste/sauce..the crust was airy and tasty. Mushroom, Big Red and PBJ were flavorful. Bottom line...there are a lot of options for pizza in the city...this was okay but we probably won't be going back...nothing gave us the wow feeling.

Good enough pizza for eating with your Off Color beers. And the guys are nice. But this isn't pizza I'd seek out.
