It's a nice spot for Lincoln Square and I hope it does well here. They have a nice outdoor space for al fresco diners and those with furry friends. Capriccio is a new pizza joint in the heart of Lincoln Square (located at north end). You pay by the slice and I was expecting the slices to be larger for the amount that they charge per slice. I had the funghi (white base, seasonal mushrooms, burrata, truffle oil) and margherita (red sauce, mozza, pecorino romano, basil emulsion (contains hazelnuts). The funghi was the better of the two (I didn't care for the margherita). The margherita didn't have sliced tomato and fresh basil as it traditionally does so it was a miss for me. The pizza slices were insubstantial and I felt like I could have eaten more afterwards (normally two slices of pizza is more than enough at similar pizzerias). Overall, pizza was okay, nothing exciting. It's a quick meal if you need one in the area. read more

My first time here and loved it. The staff was very helpful explaining the offerings. Ordered the meat lover or whatever it was called and my friend ordered the Margarita, both were delicious. It's cross between a thin and thick crust with a nice crunch. We split an order of Tiramisu it was very good, moist and sponge like. The coffee was just perfect in very way, right temp and delicious. All the grand opening pics and vids got me excited. The two times I have been here there has not been a huge selection of slices, and they seem to go real light on the toppings. I'm not sure what magic they do to get this crust so perfect, but it's the right mix of crunchy and chewy for me, who sort of hates both Chicago-style thin crust and deep dish. Also the funghi is my go-to because mushrooms on pizza, truffle oil, and burrata are a few of my favorite things! There can be a little bit of wait but maybe they will invest in an extra oven or two as they grow. Their namesake Capriccio pizza was good, though I was a little surprised because I'm used to a couple other places that have a prosciutto and arugula pizza with a white sauce, and the red sauce was new in this combo for me. Can I tell you how happy I am to find a place in the neighborhood to get coffee and do a bit of work on my computer after 5pm?! Their iced Americanos are *strong* (one size, with 4 shots....and shout out to the staff who informed me of this so I could consume accordingly without staying up all night) and not watered down, which is also welcome and sadly hard to find in the area. This place is a new staple for me so I'm surprised to see mixed reviews...or why someone wouldn't expect that pizza by the slice would be "reheated". There are tables, couches and window seating available. The space is great for people watching. Given it is new, still working out some of the flow. I was able to snag a funghi slice and the last pepperoni. Both were larger sized slices and I fear that I over-ordered. Despite the thickness, the crust of the funghi slice was light, crispy, and airy. The pepperoni came with a healthy amount of cheese for a mozzarella pull. I like this place! It's a unique Italian sandwich/pizza cafe and definitely worth a try. I was walking by and I didn't know they sold pizza by the slice, so I got some to go! I wish the slices were a bit bigger and it's a bit expensive for the portions but the flavor is good. You need at least 2 slices for a small/medium sized meal. I will need to try a sandwich next time. The bread and the pizza was good and the ingredients felt fresh and high quality. Even the prosciutto they used was delicious and seemed fresh cut. Ordered the potato and sausage pizza. The potatoes were raw, not just slightly undercooked. Got home, stuck it in a 425 degree oven for 12 minutes. Some of the thicker slices were still underdone. We headed to Lincoln Square to do some shopping and were pleasantly surprised to see this pizza/sandwich cafe on the corner! We loved the concept- pizza by the slice, looks like everything is made in-house. We tried a couple pizza slices and they were delicious! Loved the dough! We also tried a sandwich which was assembled while we waited. The focaccia was excellent and the pesto was very tasty! If we lived closer, we'd definitely be regulars here. This place has been open a few weeks now and it seems like the demand may be too much for their supply. Have tried to stop by two previous times but they sold out before listed closing time. Finally caught them today. It seems like they have already decreased the size of their pizza slices (or there's no consistency). I've seen prior photos of slices from customers and the size we were given for a pepperoni slice didn't compare. It was also surprisingly flat, which goes against the whole Roman style pizza concept. At 7 bucks, completely not worth it. A slice from Jimmy's is cheaper and larger. Got it for my toddler and he was still hungry after eating it. Husband asked if they could make a caprese sandwich, which they agreed to without any hesitation. Got home to find they slapped greens and cucumbers (no cheese or pesto) onto some bread. I have no understanding of the logic of this. Husband goes back and instead of making him a new sandwich they take the box back, slap provola (not burrata) on the sandwich and give him a side of pesto. Okay... However, the focaccia was light and airy with fresh ingredients but missed the mark as a caprese sandwich. Overall, disappointed with first time experience. This place is super cute and also delicious. We shared a piece of the Roman-style pizza and the Capriccio sandwich. Both were amazing. The pizza was very flavorful, and the crust was super crisp on the bottom. The sandwich was on the yummiest focaccia bread with Mortadella burrata and pistachios. The combination of colors, textured furniture and lovely art make a perfect harmony that invites one to be seated enjoy the curated selection of music , art and of course, the delicious coffee and food! The artisan and fresh pizza romana is amazing, toasty crust and soft in the inside, combined with great quality toppings, make a really delightful bite! I personally love the Pizza Bianca. The coffee is also made to perfection, either if you choose an espresso or an americano, so are the alfajores, I tried the guava and it didn't disappoint, on the contrary I find myself craving it. And on the top, very good and friendly service! Chef Guillermo Paolisso is one of a kind. Having spent time in Italy, he brings the taste, style and vibes of Europe to Chicago.
