First time trying this place in Chicago. It was a great location a little off the magnificent mile. It's tucked between two big buildings. Rustic type vibe on the inside and great outside seating. Service was good. We asked the hostess to be seated outside but she kept pointing us upstairs. Had to repeat to her 3 to 4 times before she actually heard us. The server was great, very accommodating. We the garlic fries and half buffalo half BBQ bone in wings. The appetizers came out fast, which was great cause we were starving so it was good enough to hold us over. The fries came in a good portion and the wings were flavorful. For the entree we order the medium deep dish with half veggie and half BBQ chicken pizza. It was huge. There were three of us and we could finish the pizza. The BBQ chicken pizza was on the sweeter side with bacon and onions. While the veggies was loaded with spinach, broccoli, onions, and topped with black olives. The pizza was okay for the most part, but didn't live up to my expectations of Chicago deep dish pizza, but what do I know I'm an Arizonan :). The pizza came out cold, at least on the veggie side. But one thing is for sure the cheese was exactly how you would imagine in commercials. Overall give it a try when you're in the area! read more

I've been to Giordano's several times. This is just the first time that I've decided to document it. We ordered calamari tenders as appetizers and a small chicken sausage pizza. The calamari was pretty good. The batter was nice and crisp. I don't recommend eating the fritters that come with it. The pizza was amazing. You eat two slices and you're full. The chicken sausage was seasoned just the same as a regular sausage. You really can't tell the difference. It came with spinach and mushrooms as well. An odd pairing but it was delicious. read more

This review is for people who do not live here. This is a great meal. It is totally different from other pizza and much more expensive. Think about a traditional pie, larger and deeper. Apple pie or chocolate or lemon meringue. Deep like that or deeper. The filling is a filling. The additional things you add are not toppings, they are ingredients. Like adding strawberries to a rhubarb pie. Ok, now that I have that out of the way, this is a great meal. My only complaint was that it was not really hot as if it just came out of a 400 or 500 degree oven and it took 40 minutes and the place was 2/3rds empty. That made no sense unless it was frozen and they were reheating it. It was delicious though. I know I said this but it is a great meal. We also had the wings. They were just great as well. One order of wings and the medium pie with 4 toppings was over $50. read more

Came here with a large group the other night. This location is tucked away over by UIC, if it weren't for the sign I'd have no idea there was one in this building! The inside is nice, they have a large waiting area for those to sit and wait for a table or order carry out. It was a Friday night before a Blackhawks game, so I thought it was fairly crowded when we arrived. Our waiter did a great job of dealing with all of our orders and requests. While they did forget one of the pizzas, they handled it without chaos and swiftly. This was a nice location for groups, or even a family dinner. I love their pizza. I would come back to this location if in the area, but would not go out of my way to eat at this specific one as the product is the same as just about every other location. read more

Giordano's pizza never disappoints. It's always cooked perfectly & tastes yummy (although my heart still belongs to Gino's). This meal didn't disappoint but the service could've been much better. Our server wanted to take our order the second we sat down and then was rarely to be seen again. We had to wait forever when we were ready to order, our friend had to go to the pick up counter to get a beer mug because our server was MIA, & we had to flag down someone else so we could get our check. Had it been busy I would've understood, but the place was pretty empty. Bottom line good pizza but I recommend this location for carry out or delivery. read more

Considering I dont like deep dish, my expectations were not high for this restaurant. Service was decent, and the deep dish...was, well, deep dish. A lot of cheese and chewing. We also had to wait 45 mins for our large pie, so for 4 starving people, that was a bit of a turn off. Although the cheese was good, I felt like the there were times where I was straight eating cheese instead of a pizza because the bottom crust was just nonexistent. I also thought the tomato sauce was a little sweet too. Now I am a crust lover and its a no for me with this crust. It tasted dry and not flaky or buttery like the other reviews. Overall the pizza was okay. It didn't impress me. I didn't really think it was special or hype worthy. I would recommend going somewhere else. We heard great things so we were excited to try the Chicago deep dish but to be honest it was super disappointing. I've had way better in Springfield Mo. The crust was bland and the sauce wasn't amazing. The veggies inside were nearly uncooked, they definitely don't cook them before putting them in the pizza. Only giving two stars because the fried mozzarella was pretty good I normally don't review but the $60 bill felt like a slap in the face after only getting a small pizza and fried mozzarella. My family and I went to Giordano's with my daughter for her 17th birthday and 19 other teenagers. I was willing to split the kids up at different tables because I wanted to just get through the dinner. However, I was greeted immediately by our server Iyesha and she made our stay pleasant and took care of us effortlessly. She helped my husband and I decide how to feed a table full of young adults that was in line with our budget. Last visit: Thursday, February 11, 2010. Dinner for three. First and foremost, I am a HUGE Giordano's fan. It is by far the best pizza I have ever had (if you've never been, get the stuffed pizzas! this is a no brainer!). Needless to say, the food gets a 5 out of 5 stars from me every time, so keep in mind, this review is for this specific location only ("Greektown" location). This location is very much my least favorite one of the many Giordano's locations I have been to, yet conversely, it is also the one that I frequent the most, as my best friend lives in the nearby Presidential Towers. Let me tell you why this location sucks... because pulling into an empty restaurant parking lot, only to be forced to pay for what they call "valet parking" when you park yourself, sucks. The attendant is overly rude.. I will elaborate.. One time, we pulled into the Giordano's and my friend (who was the driver) had to take a business call. The attendant walks over and taps on his window until we just left. We parked at a nearby Staples and walked from there simply out of principal. The interior is nothing to write home about. If anything, it is a little more "worn" feeling than the other locations I have been to. Also, the servers here are not good about refills. Added note: Boy, am I glad we were able to illegally park across the street the last time we went, because it was my girlfriend's first time trying Giordano's and we were able to avoid the rude parking attendant! Giordano's is still not my favorite deep-dish pizza in Chicago (I'm sorry to say it, but I'm getting too old for that much cheese per slice) but it is still very tasty. I have little to contribute about the brand in general. About this specific location I'll add a general observation -- it's a little bit out of the way and not super-charming, but that means that even on a nice weekend it's not very crowded, and the waitstaff is totally chill about letting you occupy tables for a while. That makes it the perfect place to catch up with out-of-town friends who want a deep dish fix. read more

I ended 2013 not with a burrito as you might expect, but with delicious stuffed pizza. Independent of the holiday, the staff was incredibly friendly. Friendlier than I'd be if I were working on NYE. My friend beat me to the restaurant so she placed the order. Usually I measure a restaurant by how often they fill my water glass. Giordano's hydrated me 4 times hence 4 stars. Went to this Giordano's this past week for a work trip, and oh my, did it surprise me-in a good way! Yup, I'm one of those vegan people-no meat, cheese or eggs, so I thought I was just gonna eat some bland salad. Wow, was I wrong! Tesha, one of the most amazing waitresses, HOOKED IT UP! I arrived at the dinner, and just as I thought, I couldn't eat a thing. She came over for my drink order, and then also told me they'd cook up a thin veggie pizza with no cheese (crust was vegan too). I thought it would be pretty boring, but I was so grateful for the option! When it arrived I dug in and it was INCREDIBLE. The veggies were cooked to perfection, and the garlic and spices were amazing! Tesha had a HUGE group of people, and she handled everyone LIKE A BOSS-even the vegan! Very disappointed with the food! I've ordered from Other locations in the past and had good experiences. I was at University of Illinois on business and wasn't interested in hospital food so I ordered Gio for delivery I Specifically ask for sweet peppers and dry bread also juice on the side along with fresh fries with no salt I received a sloppy wet beef that was falling apart with greasy wet cold french fries.. Ok so normally I'm a fan of the deep dish, and I try and get some once in about 3 months. But this was a complete disaster. The pizza that we got was a cheese with 2 ingredients, we chose Canadian bacon and jalapeno. There was so much bread on the pizza that I left almost half of it on the plate. Also, there was such a small sliver of Canadian bacon that I almost missed it in my slice. Like seriously? There's a lot more to making a pizza than slapping some marinara sauce on a slice of dough. Though I must say that the spinach and green pepper slice was better, but just marginally. My friend ordered a green salad, and that was pretty good. Large portion, good dressing. However, its kind of hard to mess up on some cut greens. My drink was pretty awful as well. My friend got the table white Chardonnay wine- it tasted like apples and wasn't crisp at all. I got the margarita and it was WEAK to say the least. Oh and the cherry on the top of the cake was the mess up with the bill. My friend got overcharged $12. The waiter didn't seem to have a clue and seemed more interested dealing with other people, so after some useless banter we went up to the main counter and sorted it out. This particular location in the west loop has made me a fan of Giordano's. During my visits to Chicago I had tried the pizza before from other locations but was not a great fan. Lately I'm here for business more and close to the west loop!! This is the location people new to the Chicago style pizza should first experience. It's just way better here. On a Sunday afternoon during Olympics season this place was about half full. I came here with my date for a lunch and ordered the turkey salad, half bbq and half hot wings, and a medium deep dish pizza. The food was alright. Nothing making me jump out of my seat besides how decorated the salad was. The wings were pretty good, yet quite expensive ($1/wing). The pizza crust was a bit too dry for my taste. As for the service, they can definitely improve. There appears to be two waitresses and it was difficult getting a hold of her. If you want a better ambience, never hesitate to switch tables when you know you are seated around several parties of 3-4. I was about to run out because they were praying (or repeating the same word over and over in a loud manner). I never switched tables though... read more

Convenient! I went here right after work- my MIL ordered a spinach garlic pizza so that when it arrived, it was ready to be served and eaten. I really don't like ordering pizza and then having to wait forty minutes for its arrival so I really appreciated my MIL ordering in advance. She also ordered a house salad and minestrone soup. The pizza- ohhhhh my goodness, it was delicious! The aroma of the pizza ignites every part of your appetite- even someone who wasn't hungry becomes hungry instantaneously! I asked the waitress if she could give me some ranch to go along with the pizza- the ranch was garbage. It was so watered down, every time I would dip my pizza into the sauce, the sauce would drip everywhere! The ranch sauce was not creamy or very flavorful- it wouldn't hurt to change whatever ranch sauce they're currently using. The pizza was thin curst, it was fresh and the crust was cooked to perfection. The cheese and veggie mix was ideal and none of the flavors overpowered one another. Anyways, I really didn't like the house salad! The Giordano's house salad contains spring greens, romaine, arugula, radicchio, baby tomatoes and shaved fennel tossed in their lemon vinaigrette with shaved asiago cheese but let me just tell you, WAY TOO MUCH VINAIGRETTE! If it wasn't for the shaved asiago cheese, I don't know how I would have eaten the salad because it was like downing two shots of vinaigrette. Easy there! I would highly recommend putting the lemon vinaigrette to the side and have the customer help themselves or serve less vinaigrette- it's always easier to add more but you can't take "off" vinaigrette once it's on. The salad itself was okay- all the vegetables were fresh and tasted even better! Also, the waitress was not attentive- on more than two occasions I had to get up and ask her something as opposed to her coming to our table. She was mostly sitting behind the counter which made it possible for me to approach her. When it was time to pay, my boo gave her his credit card and when she came back with the receipt, she didn't give him his credit card. When he inquired about his card, she looked into the check book and noticed it was inside and started laughing. She didn't even say I'm sorry. I expect better from the individuals serving my food. The age old argument. Who has the best pizza in a town where options seem limitless? For me, the winner changes based on the pizza type. My deep dish pick isn't my thin crust choice. For thin, Giordano's filters to the top of my taste bud's happy place. Good crust, like the sauce and while not exactly a value pizza, pretty tasty. This location on Van Buren is located in my delivery area however, if I had the option to receive my pizza from a different Giordano's location, I would. Seems that every third or fourth pie is delivered somewhere between an overdone crispy crust to simply burnt. This week was a burnt delivery and it happens regularly enough that I felt it needed some yelp attention. Buyer beware. read more

Great place to visit from all locations. The pizza is my personal favorite, and if you go here, it will probably be yours too. The cheese really seems authentic and takes up most of the dish, making it a gooey heaven. Their thin crust is not as good, bit still filling and worth it. They were not as expensive here as other pizza places, but still quality pizza. Their crust is harder than most, and they use a lot on the sides. I defonently recommend this place to any tourist or a native Chicagoin going out for a drive downtown. read more

Sadly, we did not read the reviews here before ordering online while we were headed home from the gym. Of course we were told it would take one hour for a pizza delivery, and now it is going on two hours. We tried to call to see if our pizza was in route to our home, and twice someone hung up the phone on us and then the third time they said very rudely and briskly that "it was on the way." Overall, Giordanos is not the best pizza in Chicago- it is just convenient to order their delivery...if it works. As many people have said before, I will be going to Lou Malnotti's or even Pequads (my favorite) before I go to ANY Giordano's or order delivery from them ever again. read more
