Pizzeria Uno and Due are sister restaurants 1 block apart, supposedly the home of Chicago original deep dish pizza back in 1943. Great local classic ambiance and it's hard to beat the literal original pizza recipe. Even Lou Malnati himself used to work at Uno! Due is the less crowded sister location serving the same food as Uno so great place to avoid crowds.

This was my first attempt at Chicago Deep Dish and what better place to try it at than the creator's restaurant! The pizza was perfectly cooked and served at the optimal temperature. The atmosphere was very inviting and our server was extremely attentive. I would recommend many times over! Now this isn't your typical fast food pizza so it will take time for your food to be cooked but IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!!!!

I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. On top of that, my order arrived quite late. I wouldn't recommend this place based on my experience.

Another great meal. We were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving. Had to some downtown to get our fix on the best deep dish. We always park at the garage by Unos. But we did come on Black Friday and UNOs was packed. So we went to Dues and there was no wait. We got the medium for 4 adults. We got pepperoni with sausage and half mushrooms. Such a classic! Always a good time at UNOs or Dues. This was my husband's first time at Dues. We had a great time and the servers are amazing as always. Just know the bathrooms are tight for ladies in the stalls. My dad and I had Cruz Blanca Mexican lager so yummy! And we had to do another! Prefect starting spot to do some Black Friday shopping

This review is for a corporate event. We did a pizza making class, which was pretty affordable - $55 PP for a personal pie, one beer/wine, soda, and salad. The pizza making was rather simple - all you do is stretch the dough out to cover a pan then fill it with topping. So the interactive part is probably like ... 5 minutes TBH. I wish it was a bit more interactive - maybe show how to make the dough? The pizza turned out like a solid chicago pizza. Service was friendly.

Came by at 11am for a slice. Was met by friendly staff. Was pretty empty since it was the start of the day. There's plenty of seating options. Some outside. Some on top and some they call down stairs but really it's all on the same plane. Food came out quick. It was a cheese deep dish and it's always encouraged to call ahead. The cheese on it was delicious. It was the right texture and consistency. Gooey but not overpowering. I can only imagine what the supreme deep dish or others would taste like! I asked the staff the story behind the place and they also gave me a quick lesson. Happy I came!

What can I say great pizza and I went out on a limb this day for something different near the office. So I wondered how's the beef at Due. So happy I did, among walking in to pick up my order the server knew who I was by name and took care of me. The beef: OMG SOOOOO MUCH flavor with the sweet peppers and yes I always have cheese at pizza places cause they use the best and place in pizza oven! Hot peppers and au jus on side...DELICIOUS!! Comes with a side salad! Try it!

I was excited to try deep dish in Chicago and it was... incredibly mediocre. The sauce was mediocre, the toppings didn't feel balanced, and the crust was too fatty without being flavourful. It wasn't necessarily bad, but I was disappointed for a meal I was excited for on my visit. The service was very friendly though, and the restaurant felt lively.

Had an absolutely WONDERFUL evening at Pizzeria Due! Came here for my dad's birthday. Made him finally try a shot of Malort (as is tradition) and then had some drinks and pizzas! Both were phenomenal and absolutely worth the wait! (The real stuff takes time!!) The location is lowkey and clean, really comfy and easy to relax in after a long day. I forgot our server's name but she had long black hair and AMAZING makeup!! She is a superstar

Pathetic experience. The place was severely understaffed -- dinner took over 2.5 hours! Our veggie pizza came out stone cold and so hard we couldn't even cut it. Other deep dish pizzas were just ok... no great shakes! Drinks were awful, and the cheesecake was just so-so. We were seated in an old, musty-smelling room they called the "Presidential Office," which was anything but inviting, with an inch of dust on the bookshelves . The spaghetti n meatballs came out lukewarm too... they got garlic bread for 2 tables but not the third. Bathroom stalls were soooooo tiny! To top it off, we saw rats running around outside. Definitely not coming back.

Stopped in for lunch on a Monday. The deep dish pizza was satisfying. Just how it should be in Chicago. The staff were super friendly and their new waitress, Angel, is so sweet. The red sangria was perfect. Also had the super salad which was very good. The place is just as you would imagine a Chicago pizzeria....cozy and quaint.

This place was recommended but I didn't do any research ahead of time, which was my fault. Walked in and was told there was a 45 minute wait, which wasn't surprising for a Saturday with crowded streets at lunch time. Hostess was nice and patient with children. This business is brilliant because they took our order and phone number and said they'd let us know when our table was ready. We walked around outside for 40 minutes, came back in to check and they said it wasn't ready yet (no biggie) so we waited inside. Once they called our name we went to the table closest to the kitchen so it was very busy. A hustlin' and bustlin' server took our drink order, but the 2 waters were served as room temp tap water. I don't particularly care for a lot of ice in my drink but zero ice tap water was cringey. I would've complained or asked for ice but the next time we saw that server was when she delivered our bill (someone else brought our pizza and someone else brought the box we needed). Our pizzas came out in 5-10 minutes and I regretted getting 2 pizzas. For one, the price tag. But also, the lack of table space. My partner is large and their body touched the table while seated, which is no complaint of a 69 year old restaurant BUT the plates couldn't fit on the table with 2 pizzas so it was awkward to eat with a fork and knife and no room. Pizza was good but nothing to write home about. This isn't even a place that I would tell people to try once. 2 medium pizzas, a lemonade and a sprite came to a bill over $80 before tip, while only at the table for 20 minutes. The place was super busy and staff was nice but overall meh experience. Oh! Additionally, plus sized women may not fit in a bathroom stall. I felt like I had to almost straddle the toilet to be able to open/close the stall door. That was interesting...

Found this near our hotel. Its sister branch is pizzeria Uno just one block away. We came for some Chicago deep dish pizza and ordered the individual for the two of us. The flavor is good, but the crust is like hard toast.

Up until tonight, my experiences had always been positive and the food was fantastic. Unfortunately, this visit was more than disappointing. I ordered a salad I've had at least a dozen times before, accept I added grilled chicken on top. I live for this salad and was just there maybe three weeks ago. Unaware that they have changed their menu, I ordered as usual. The name of the salad has not changed on the menu, but apparently the ingredients had been completely altered. When the dish arrived, to my surprise, it was drastically different and not something I enjoyed at all. I politely informed our server, who was kind and accommodating, and offered to replace the dish. However, it was now 6 p.m. we had tickets to see The Wiz at 7 p.m. and didn't have time to wait for another order, which I also informed her. I asked if the salad could be removed from the bill since it was essentially untouched. The server checked with the owner, who refused to remove the $30 salad or offer any kind of discount. When a restaurant changes a dish but keeps the same name, it creates a reasonable expectation for returning customers. When that expectation isn't met, basic customer service should step in. What makes this even more frustrating is that the restaurant was willing to prepare an entirely new dish, but not willing to remove the uneaten one from the bill. That simply isn't logical. If you're prepared to replace an item, it clearly acknowledges there was an issue, so refusing to comp or adjust the original charge is unreasonable. That decision was extremely disappointing. I, in-turn made the decision to eat only the additional grilled chicken on top, leaving the rest of the salad, paying the full bill and promptly getting out of there so we could be on time for our show. The only positive part of the experience was our server, who handled the situation with professionalism and kindness. Sadly, the new menu leaves much to be desired and this experience has cost Peanut Park my business and my referrals going forward.

Reservations are released 21 days ahead of time, which I personally find impossible to make. Every time I've checked over the last several years there have been no availability. Yesterday I decided to pop on their website again and was delighted to find that they had released same day dinner reservations for patio only dining. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining so I went ahead and booked a table for Friday night. I felt like I won the dinner lottery. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. But do not give up that patio dining reservation if it's available. All of our dishes were delicious. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. The meats and sauces were wonderfully balanced and tender. Nothing tasted overly salted. Ironically, the pasta felt less of a star compared to the other dishes. And of course I had to get the gelato, which was so aesthetically presented and the taste just reminded me of an Italian summer vacation.

Alla Vita: A Masterclass in West Loop Elegance…read more If you are looking for a spot that perfectly balances "industrial chic" with "grandma's Sunday kitchen," **Alla Vita** is hitting all the right notes. Located at 564 W Randolph, it's a sprawling, airy space that manages to feel intimate despite its scale. Here is the breakdown of the heavy hitters from the menu: **The Truffle Mushroom Pizza** This isn't your standard wood-fired pie. The crust strikes that elusive balance between a pillowy interior and a crisp, charred exterior. The earthiness of the mushrooms is front and center, but it's the truffle that ties it together without being overpowering. It's rich, aromatic, and deeply savory--the kind of pizza that makes you forget about pepperoni entirely. **The Ricotta Dumplings** These are, quite frankly, little clouds of heaven. While many places struggle with leaden gnocchi, Alla Vita's ricotta dumplings are impossibly light. They have a delicate, melt-in-your-mouth texture that acts as a perfect canvas for the sauce. Every bite feels indulgent yet airy; it is easily the "must-order" dish of the night. **The Tiramisu** To close out the meal, the Tiramisu is a sophisticated take on the classic. It isn't overly sweetened, allowing the bold espresso and creamy mascarpone to shine. It's structured but soft, providing a caffeinated, velvety finale that cleanses the palate without weighing you down. **The Verdict:** Alla Vita is more than just a "pretty" restaurant. The service is snappy, the atmosphere is electric, and the food--specifically the pasta program--is top-tier. Whether you're there for a celebratory dinner or a high-energy weeknight meal, it's a West Loop essential. **Pro Tip:** The restaurant fills up fast, so snag a reservation well in advance, especially if you're eyeing a weekend table.
