Had to, right? No. Don't have to actually. The deep dish was just all bread. Topping had great flavor but then you're just filling up on carbs. The regular crust was so much better. I'd had Uno, but this was my first stop into Due. Big fan of both. Our server was super friendly, we really enjoyed her. The food was amazing, as well. We opted for a pair of individual sized instead of full pizza (server recco), but in hindsight I'd have gone for the bigger pizza instead. Having said that, her recommendation for the cheesy pesto one ended up being spot on and was a favorite, so it all worked out. Will for sure drop in again when I'm visiting. read more

This was our first stop after checking into our hotel in Chicago, we figured we might as well start off with deep dish right off the bat and they were still open, since we got in fairly late in the evening. We got seated in a high top by the bar and our orders were taken relatively quickly. We were given a heads up that the deep dish pizzas took about 30 to 45 minutes to make which we were more than willing to wait for. We got a cheesy garlic bread appetizer, a chocolatey milkshake for a drink, and then a small deep dish pizza to share. There were more than enough leftovers and the pizza was done really well, it seemed like a very good ratio of cheese to crust. I think overall, it was a pretty delicious meal, there wasn't anything really special about the pizza personally, we did get a sausage and pepperoni pizza and it was good, but I probably wouldn't come back just for that. Our server, Carmen was very attentive and very sweet and on top of things, she asked about our meal a few times and was very prompt with the check. Pizzeria Due is "The" original Chicago Deep Dish pizza! Ok, well, they opened first in 1943 down the block at Pizzeria Uno :-) They expanded with Due in 1955. Same difference. We stopped into this old Victorian for a weekend lunch (May 2026), and had our pizza in the style of an old Italian meal, the same dish prepared for the two of us: Uno per Due! Deep, buttery crust, luscious chunky sauce with savory lightly-spiced sausage ... with the cheese in between the crust and the sauce! Back in the day, it was my first deep-dish pizza, and it's still the one I judge them by. Uno's does ok in their franchises, but the original restaurants are the best. Nevermind exactly whoever among the original Uno"s staff actually invented this not-south Italy not-thin-NY-pizza. There's some controversy (and marketing) there. But it was the first, and the founders of both Gino's East and Lou Malnati's (supposedly) worked at Uno's before starting their own! This is Great pizza in a City of Great pizza. I wanted to really like this pizza but the lack of flavor and overall texture/crust leaves me no choice but to give it an okay rating. I ordered the deep dish specialty spinach pizza. It takes time to make a good pizza but this lacked what I consider good pizza traits. The sauce was bland. I definitely had to use the red pepper flakes to help give it some flavor. It seems like they forgot to Season/spice this sauce? The crust really doesn't hold up to the toppings. I've had other Chicago style deep dish pizza that I've enjoyed. They're slam packed, but still smiled and greeted and seated me. I got an adult drink. (Not the heaviest pour, but that's okay) My pizza is delicious... it's the perfect thin crust, not burnt (I hate burnt crust). I used to work at one of UNO's locations and I was fully expecting DUE to be right on par. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to that level. Started with the Chicago Mule and Blueberry Mule. Both were very nice and well-balanced. For dinner, we got the Numero Uno and The Chicagoan. My guy has never had deep dish pizza before and he really enjoyed both pizzas, but preferred numero uno. The Chicagoan was my favorite of the two. I loved a good giardiniera! I was disappointed with how flakey the crust was. The pizza would just fall apart with every bite making it really hard to eat. Just overall average in terms of flavor. Service was great, though, so they're winning on that front. Someone was taking photos so we got ours taken. Another great meal. We were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving. Had to some downtown to get our fix on the best deep dish. We always park at the garage by Unos. But we did come on Black Friday and UNOs was packed. So we went to Dues and there was no wait. We got the medium for 4 adults. We got pepperoni with sausage and half mushrooms. Such a classic! Always a good time at UNOs or Dues. This was my husband's first time at Dues. We had a great time and the servers are amazing as always. Just know the bathrooms are tight for ladies in the stalls. This review is for a corporate event. We did a pizza making class, which was pretty affordable - $55 PP for a personal pie, one beer/wine, soda, and salad. The pizza making was rather simple - all you do is stretch the dough out to cover a pan then fill it with topping. So the interactive part is probably like ... 5 minutes TBH. Came by at 11am for a slice. Was met by friendly staff. Was pretty empty since it was the start of the day. There's plenty of seating options. Some outside. Some on top and some they call down stairs but really it's all on the same plane. Food came out quick. It was a cheese deep dish and it's always encouraged to call ahead. Pathetic experience. The place was severely understaffed -- dinner took over 2.5 hours! Our veggie pizza came out stone cold and so hard we couldn't even cut it. Other deep dish pizzas were just ok... no great shakes! Drinks were awful, and the cheesecake was just so-so. We were seated in an old, musty-smelling room they called the "Presidential Office," which was anything but inviting, with an inch of dust on the bookshelves . Ordered a small deep dish pizza and salad on a Monday night. They gave an ETA of 30min. We got the pizza and they forgot our salad. There wasn't an employee in sight or bell or anything. The salad took another 30min which made our pizza cold. Customer service is a$$. Let me put this nicely, there's like 6 Giordianos within a five mile radius but we chose to come here instead. The competition is definitely real, get it together.. Should've went there instead. Not to mention the salad looked sad, no dressing like the description said, and they didn't give us forks! This place was recommended but I didn't do any research ahead of time, which was my fault. Walked in and was told there was a 45 minute wait, which wasn't surprising for a Saturday with crowded streets at lunch time. Hostess was nice and patient with children. This business is brilliant because they took our order and phone number and said they'd let us know when our table was ready. We walked around outside for 40 minutes, came back in to check and they said it wasn't ready yet (no biggie) so we waited inside. Once they called our name we went to the table closest to the kitchen so it was very busy. A hustlin' and bustlin' server took our drink order, but the 2 waters were served as room temp tap water. I don't particularly care for a lot of ice in my drink but zero ice tap water was cringey. I would've complained or asked for ice but the next time we saw that server was when she delivered our bill (someone else brought our pizza and someone else brought the box we needed). Our pizzas came out in 5-10 minutes and I regretted getting 2 pizzas. For one, the price tag. But also, the lack of table space. My partner is large and their body touched the table while seated, which is no complaint of a 69 year old restaurant BUT the plates couldn't fit on the table with 2 pizzas so it was awkward to eat with a fork and knife and no room. Pizza was good but nothing to write home about. This isn't even a place that I would tell people to try once. 2 medium pizzas, a lemonade and a sprite came to a bill over $80 before tip, while only at the table for 20 minutes. I've been wanting to try the original UNO/DUE pizza spots ever since moving to Chicago, and I finally made it to Due for dinner last night! I walked in on a Sunday evening and easily snagged a seat at the bar. With about 10 seats, it felt spacious and comfortable for a solo diner like me. The ambiance is fantastic--classic old-school vibes with lots of nostalgic memorabilia that make it feel warm and cozy. To drink, I started with the Chicago Mule, which was so good I ended up ordering a second. I kicked off my meal with the individual Caesar salad. Let me tell you--it was huge for an individual portion! Honestly, it rivaled the main course in size and flavor. For my main, I ordered the 10-inch South Side Sausage thin-crust pizza. Though they mentioned it would take around 25 minutes (the deep dish can take up to 40 mins) it came out in less than 10 and was perfectly cooked. As someone who prefers tavern-style pizza over deep dish, this was right up my alley--absolutely delicious. If you plan on ordering your own pizza, definitely recommend going with any 10" tavern styles. The combination of everything I ordered made for the perfect Sunday night dinner at the bar. The bartender (I didn't catch her name) was excellent--super attentive and friendly. I'd definitely recommend stopping by Due for a casual, laid-back dinner with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. We came out to Pizzeria DUE on Wednesday right when they opened. We were seated right away, and had the best time. We each ordered a cocktail: My husband got a boulevardier that was absolutely spot on delicious. I ordered an espresso martini. It was good for what it was, but it wasn't a proper espresso martini...I don't know what it is about places particularly in the midwest, but "espresso martinis" tend to be more like white russians in martini glasses. It was tasty though, and I didn't mind it. Its been hard finding a good espresso martini since Ireland if I'm honest. We ordered a small deep dish pizza with sausage, mushrooms, and black olives, as we had dinner reservations, and didn't want to eat too much. This ended up being the absolutely perfect amount of food. As deep dish pizza takes a while to cook, and we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while, we had the opportunity to chat with some of the staff: Tom, our server, Conrad, the bartender, and Anthony, who I think was a manager, but I don't remember (it was a day full of drinking, sorry lol). They were all super cool, and took the time to really have a conversation which was nice. The pizza was exactly as I remember it being the last time I was here, 30 some odd years ago. Everything tasted so good!!! I couldn't be happier, especially since this was the first time Morgan had Chicago style deep dish pizza IN Chicago. From San Diego, took a party of 5 here to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday since she's never been to Chicago and wanted to try Chicago deep dish pizza. We had a 7pm reservation (booked through Open Table), but due to a flight delay, we opted to modify our reservation through Open Table to 8pm instead. During our Uber ride, it began pouring rain and we didn't have an umbrella, so we rushed my mom inside a crowded and busting Pizzeria DUE. They did not have our modified 8pm reservation in their system and advised that they wouldn't be able to sit us for another 40ish minutes with no place for my mom to sit while we waited. The only other option available was their 2nd floor space, which was only accessible by two flights of outdoor stairs. My mother STRUGGLED in the pouring rain as we helped her up the stairs. She was severely out of breath and in pain from her already bad knees. After about 3 minutes in the rain trying to get her up the stairs, we were seated and soaked to the bone. My number one issue with this spot is that it is not wheel chair accessible. My 2nd issue is that reservations are done through the Open Table system, but when we showed the confirmation of our reservation modification to the staff, they advised that Open Table doesn't send them the information in time. They need to work something out where a modification isn't an option 3 hours prior to the original time, because the written email confirmation from Open Table carries absolutely no weight at that point. The manager tried his best to make things right with a discount and a dessert, so we were thankful for that. The food was OK, but nothing worth writing home about. The whole experience didn't help, obviously. The birthday dinner was ultimately soured beyond repair and my mom couldn't wait to get home get into a dry change of clothes. I really do try my best to empathize with restaurants and hectic Saturday nights. I know the staff tried their best but if I'm going to give my honest feedback of my experience, I can't pretend it was great. I am sure that on a sunny day in Chicago with a better reservation system, others will certainly have a better experience, but unfortunately, it was not the case for my family. read more

Pizzeria DUE is close to where we were staying which checked one of the boxes for my dining companions. As a vegan diner, I was not sure if they could make a vegan deep-dish pizza. I arrived early and asked if they could. I was greeted immediately and the front service person explained to me that we can as they have vegan cheese and can make most pizzas vegan. Imagine my glee when I was told this. One of my dining companions was excited to eat there and the other was satisfied that we didn't have to walk too far in the bitter cold. ( Next time check the weather app, and bring the appropriate clothing ). We entered into the depths of Pizzeria DUE which has been making Chicago deep-dish pizzas since 1955. Our low table was at the very end of the dining room and we had a front seat to all the bar action and the comings and goings from the kitchen. If I didn't mention it before, let me state that the seating was tight. If any one of us were 20-30 lbs. larger it would have been extremely uncomfortable. One of my dinner companions ordered a deep dish with anchovies and I ordered a vegan cheese deep dish with olives, mushrooms, and onions. The other dinner companion ordered a thin-crust pizza with onions and chicken. While Pizzeria DUE can do thin-crust pizzas, their specialty is deep-dish. This would be akin to ordering sushi at a gas station or a Tomahawk steak at a gentlemen's club. At this point, the readers can guess what was the outcome. We both enjoyed our deep dish pizzas which the other diner did not enjoy his thin crust pizza. The bottom line is this. If you want a Chicago experience with a deep-dish pizza that features a bar, go to Pizzeria DUE. If you want anything else, go elsewhere. read more
