Got the sicilian which is basically their pan pizza but really big and rectangular. Definitely enough for 4-5 people. I ordered online and was able to use their $10 off coupon immediately after signing up. The store itself is huge and the service is the main reason for the -2 stars. There's a specific area to pick up your pizza but there was no one at the carry out window! We waited a good 5-10 minutes before driving around and going to the main entrance. There, we waited to talk to the hostess and explained the situation and she had no advice?? She only said that's the only place you can pick up the pizza and you just have to wait. No sorry, no we'll send someone over, nothing. We ended up going back around and waiting. Got our pizza and I would say it was actually really good and the value is definitely there for the sicilian. Listed on the Specials menu, the ravioli was outstanding!!! Really flavorful! Marinara sauce was delicious!! My husband enjoyed himself so much, he cleaned his dish of lasagne! I haven't been to Connies since moving away years ago. 25 plus years later I attend a family event which I was excited about to be around family and good food from what I remembered. Only to enjoy the family and food but have the worst service ever. I don't know what her issue was but she brought it to work with her and it was very unpleasant especially when we had family from out of state who joined us. To keep it brief, I received better service from the guy cleaning the table then our actual waitress. Very disappointing and if it wasn't for the gratuity being included in the $500 bill she wouldn't have gotten anything. Her name was Astrid by the way or something like that. read more

We went to Connie's for a private dinner for a group of about 50 ppl. Fran helped arranged the menu with me and she was incredibly patient and helpful. She wanted us to have the best menu for our dinner. The billing was so simple. Astrid and Valeria were our servers and they were absolutely wonderful. Parking lot makes it easy and the Christmas decorations are over the top fun! Our server was amazing. We had a group of 9 and we were able to make a reservation on the weekend of Black Friday, pretty last minute. The place is massively large. Food came out fast, even the deep dish didn't take as long as some other places. It was good, not my favorite pizza place, but we like the food and the prices are reasonable. Bc of the ambiance, friendly service, parking lot, reasonable prices and clean bathrooms, I give this place 5 stars. I'm sure the pizza is a favorite for some, but as a vegetarian, I thought there should've been more olives on my olive and cheese deep dish pizza. There were very few and it felt like it should've been simple and flavorful, but it felt like it was just lacking that certain je ne sais quoi. It's an order I do a lot for pizzas, so I guess I was expecting what I am used to- Simple and flavorful, but I felt it was just not it. My kids got a margarita type thin crust type pizza, and they liked it, but said it was also not their favorite. We tried it and agreed. The zucchini sticks were great, as was the artichoke dip. Also, I'm fr California, and I do feel like I'm an expert on Asian food, NOTan expert on Chicago deep dish by any means lol- but just for my kids and myself- we prefer a few other other spots in Chicago as far as the taste of the pizza more than this one. Please check your kitchen where you keep your pizza boxes. My delivery came with a surprise inside of the mini pizza , a large live bug which is very disappointing to say the least. What I love about Connie's is how unassuming it is. From the outside, you don't know what you are getting yourself into. The brick facade is reminiscent of Macaroni Grill. Once you walk-in, the restaurant opens up into a lovely, decorated old-school Italian space. It's clear this is not a 5-star Italian restaurant. And it doesn't have to be. The food and service also speaks to the vibe. Service is attentive and the food is surprising great. Don't judge this restaurant by their frozen pizza business. Everything about the food here is quality, fresh, and flavorful. We came here for Thanksgiving and their turkey meal special was fantastic. Recently, we came again and ordered everything bolognese spaghetti, chicken vesuvio, their new tavern style pizza, and kid's meals. First off, I have to say you know this place is iconic as soon as you walk inside. It's a massive building with lots of old timey decor (feels like an old tire shop or something?). Great place for groups and a good place to stop after a Sox game. While the ambiance is certainly appealing, the pizza isn't quite as special. I enjoyed the stuffed pizza (margherita) as it added a unique dimension to classic deep dish. Otherwise I felt the pizzas weren't as flavorful as other deep dish places in the city. I also may just be partial to caramelized crusts, but their crust style wasn't particularly noteworthy. Still, I'm glad I tried their various pan pizzas to compare. Would order the special chicken salad again. Service was good, even if we came right before closing. Wouldn't go out of my way for the pizzas but definitely worth checking out. read more

I was just inside Connie's pizza with a party of 29. I recently got done with a 5 year contract out of the Army and my family wanted to celebrate. Upon making the reservation, the staff seemed a little annoyed of our party size and we have given them a day in advance. Which is somewhat reasonable but it was more than 24 hours. When we showed up everything seemed nice, they had salad, and bread out immediately. That was awesome. Although the bread was only on one table. Once everyone arrived the food got there and it was good timing. My biggest issue was with our servers. They were rude and honestly seemed like they didn't want to be helpful. When other guests asked if they can order something else, like a coffee, they were told it was gonna be extra, and that they should go outside through the drive through instead. Making it seem like they didn't want to do their job. They weren't as attentive as you would think for a party of 29. I assume because the tip was already included at 18%. It was my father's birthday soon, and I had asked if they can bring out a birthday cake, in which she said "yeah if you pay for it, we can come out and sing." The professionalism in these servers was subpar and I will no longer be having large gatherings there and stick to the "drive through" to avoid this experience. read more

This place is what Chicago pizza is all about. The service was quick and friendly, the atmosphere was fun with an old school pizza tavern feel to it but decorated for fall! My husband and I went there to kick off our date yesterday and it was so good! We got the stuffed pizza with the sauce on the side. I highly recommend getting the sauce on the side. By doing that the pizza crust was perfectly crisp and it stayed like that throughout the whole meal. I will say the sangria was rather lackluster. Tasted more like just regular red wine with a seltzer in it. Not much of a fruity flavor to it. But some may prefer it that way. I like a little more fruit to my sangria. Connie's has some great pizza! We typically order takeout or delivery. My favorite is their Margherita on their original pan. It has olive oil rubbed crust, sliced roma tomato, ricotta, mozzarella, & fresh basil. It's so cheesy and delicious! I don't normally like eating pizza crust but with this one, I love dipping the crust in olive oil with salt and pepper. For takeout/delivery, I suggest ordering ahead of time because it can take a long time for it to be ready. Don't order when you're already hungry! read more

Finally got to try this Southside staple! I attended a rehearsal dinner at Connie's and could not believe how BIG this place is! Upon pulling in, we saw the adorable patio space complete with string lights and some awesome murals. The inside is perfect for large events - there are multiple rooms and large tables. The staff definitely knows what they're doing too, especially for large groups. Our server did an amazing job for our 20+ party, and was frequently there checking on us and refilling drinks. We started with a caesar side family style. I think this would have been better without all the dressing, it took away from the crunch of the lettuce. The pizza though, was outstanding! I loved the Connie's original pan style. It's the perfect in-between of deep dish and hand tossed. The cheese was crispy and the sausage was delicious. We've truly never left a review like this before, but Connie's Catering deserves it. They didn't just cater our wedding, they anchored it. From the start, they stood out for offering far more than anyone else we spoke to, at a price that was more than fair. And when the big day came, they exceeded every expectation we had. Throughout planning, there were moments when we weren't sure how to handle certain logistics or had requests that needed some figuring out, and Connie's was always right there. Sometimes they had a clear, simple answer, and other times they helped us talk through the options until it made sense. That kind of support made such a difference and took a huge weight off our shoulders. The food was phenomenal, we had guests genuine raving about it! It was seriously so amazing. And their bartenders were exactly who you'd want behind the bar: competent, friendly, and calm even in the busiest moments. What really set them apart, though, was how much they handled quietly behind the scenes. They just took care of the little things that could've easily turned stressful. That kind of presence let us actually enjoy our own wedding, and we'll never forget that. Connie's is a true Southside staple, and that meant a lot to us when picking them. Connie's pizza at this flagship location is an iconic marker for Chicago's south side. Fittingly they are also a big seller for the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field just a few blocks away.  I haven't personally had it in ages as it's not near us but we just picked up a big order for a local funeral visitation event.   The pizza was delicious.  There's something special about the cheese that Connie's uses - slightly burnt, always generous, soft and gooey, and really tasty - and it's always been this way.  A loooong time ago, as a student at nearby IIT, I remember having this delicious pizza numerous times in the early 70's. And yes they have been around since 1963, or 60 years, and  congratulations btw on that milestone!  We got 5 original pan varieties (cheese, sausage, pepperoni, veggie, and super) and a Sicilian pizza.  Original pan is their signature pizza per Ivan who manned their carryout station.  Ivan btw was a friendly and helpful young man for our order and thank you Ivan.  Upon request he also helpfully provided 40 disposable plates and utensil sets with our order.   I thought their signature was thin but I could easily have mistaken their thin for original pan in the old days.  It's ordered in equal amounts anyway by their customers.  If you notice the size of their restaurant, their well setup carryout operation, and their huge delivery fleet, you will realize that they do a big volume business. The only downside (minus 1 star) is that the pizza is on the pricey side given the copious competition out there.  14" is also the largest size that they do.   The 14" pizzas range from $26.99 for cheese, $30.24 for sausage or pepperoni, and $35.98 for the super.  But do check them out for a distinctively good pizza and a Chicago original. read more

Tonight, I wasn't pleased with my meal. This place is usually no fail. I tried the fettucine pasta with chicken. I asked them to add sweet peas and mushrooms. Surprisingly this pasta had no flavor. My Italian salad dressing was even off tonight. Usually, I get the chicken parm which I love. Guess I'll have to go back to that dish.
