Sbarros is an Italian restaurant located inside of Union Station downtown. If I am craving pizza or a Stromboli this is my spot to go to for lunch because they are pretty quick. You are in and out in a matter of 5-10 minutes. They have pan pizzas or NY style, along with Italian dishes such as lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs, chicken, garlic bread, strombollis, and salad varieties. Their pizza is nice and greasy and I love their pasta salad. Everyone that works there has always been very friendly and patient. They have several people in their crew from the one taking the order, the one that reheats the pizza in the oven, the one that makes your sides for you, and the cashier. It's a smooth process and they are very efficient. Inside is nice and clean. There are no tables at the restaurant itself, but Union Station does have tables and chairs in an area where you can dine in, no matter which restaurant you get your food from. read more

If you're rushing to catch a train this is a pretty decent spot since everything is already made. There are plenty of options, but it's known for pizza. The pizza is decent, definitely greasy and you're going to be feeling it but it scratches an itch. The station looks clean. All the food behind the counter is what you'll get upon ordering so you can choose your item. I did have a weird experience where I was clearly in line and this older woman was trying to order ahead of me/with me? The person serving the counter was just as confused as I was. I moved along quickly and paid before she made it to the register. Moral of the story, you may need to be aggressive with your ordering. read more

Sbarro does real Italian as fast food. Nothing fancy, but just what you need when you're hungry between trains. I had the Italian sausage with peppers and onions and found the sausage to be authentic and delicious. It was pouring outside and was grateful this location is right in Union Station. Sbarro is a small Italian joint. I have only tried the Pepperoni Stromboli from here, and I loved how flavoursome it was. The staff were friendly. I don't have much to say about the ambience as it looks like any other fast food restaurant. I would suggest doing takeaways or grab and go rather than dining in here. I was excited to see Sbarro Pizza open up in Union Station's food court. Sometimes I get a pizza craving and Sbarro usually hits the spot. During my visit, it fell a little flat. Union Station gets busy around lunchtime as it attracts both office workers and travellers. When I visited, I timed to visit to be after the lunch rush to avoid some of the crowds. Despite not being peak hours, service here was a little slow and I received cold food - maybe they had lowered heating times to move the queue faster? Either way, everything was cold enough that I took it to go so I could warm it up in the oven at home. A head's up if you, like most people in the city, are paying with a card - Sbarro adds an up charge for the privilege of paying with your card. This is something I find to be super annoying, as this is a basic cost of business in 2023, particularly in a city like Chicago where many businesses are cashless. read more

This is a review of the Pan pizza only. The thin crust is good especially if you like lots of cheese and a large slice portion. The pan pizza is a joke. They may as well call it a giant focaccia for the price of a traditional Chicago Pan Pizza, ie there's has tons of bread and relatively little topping placed on top of the pan baked bread loaf. I recently tried a slice of pizza from this Sbarro's pizzeria and was extremely disappointed. The crust was soggy and lacked the crispy, chewy texture and raw. The cheese tasted artificial and the toppings were sparse. The overall flavor was bland and lacked any depth or complexity. I would not recommend this pizza to anyone looking for a quality slice. During my visit to sbarros, I encountered an employee who was incredibly rude and unprofessional. They had a dismissive attitude, ignored my questions, and seemed annoyed when taking my order. Additionally, they appeared to be disinterested in their job and lacked basic customer service skills. Overall, my experience with this employee left a sour taste in my mouth and I would not recommend this sbarros due to their lack of hospitality. they lady looked about short and didn't speak English good. I had ordered a side from the combo slice and while the worker was doing my ceaser salad tossed there was flies flying around the salad bar so unsanitary and gross would not recommend this place for health reasons. read more

Ok, so this a nationwide chain, seems pretty new in Union station. The service is super friendly, and fast (I went over the lunch hour). I ordered a thin slice of pepperoni, and added garlic salt (after you check out) and also asked for a cup of extra sauce for dipping, because the pizza seemed light on the sauce. Italian and fast food - not a common combination, however Sbarro offers both and they do a really good job of it. There are lots of locations including in Union Station's food court (mezzanine level/Jackson Street side) and in the Millennium station on Michigan and Randolph. They offer about 15 different pizza choices which you can buy whole or by the slice - several are New York style (foggedabboutit - this is Chicago, we don't need no New York City pizza) - oh yes we do - it's got a great chewy/crispy thin crust and a whole lotta cheese and toppings. They also offer a heartier version pan pizza crust loaded with all your fave toppings. They have deals like 2 giant slices and a side (pasta, salad or breadsticks) and a drink for a very reasonable price. They also have family packs that have pizza, pasta, sides - enough for 1-2 meals again at a price that won't break the bank. They serve a number of Italian pastas with various sauces, vegetables, meatballs, sausages/onions/peppers, salads (Greek, Caesar and tossed), fresh fruit bowl or large chocolate chunk cookies. read more

This location charged me extra for using a card. This is super tacky and irritating and they should just raise their price and be done with it. They didn't mention this at point of sale or I would have otherwise paid in cash. I still think its a bad practice, since often times people don't have cash. From a psychological perspective they should incentivize cash users not punish card users. I won't buy from this location again. read more
