We were in town to go to the zoo and passed by Gino's several times. When it came time for dinner we decided we had to try it! They service was friendly and prompt. The food was well priced and portioned and it was quite delicious. They had gluten free pasta, which was a really great treat for me - it is so hard to find places who cater to the gluten-free crowd! I had pasta with tomatoes, basil, garlic and olive oil and it was really delicious. I coulnd't finish my portion, but it made a lovely breakfast the next day. I would definitely go back. read more

I'm a fan of calamari, so I must say, I'm not easily impressed with just any. This place's calamari is delicious, it's crunchy yet very flavory. I highly recommend it. Our entrees were also of great quality. I asked for the Cannelonis' hard to find at other restaurants. My first time trying them, and they surpassed my expectations. The blackened chicken Alfredo is also very tasty. Dessert: tiramisu was also great. However, main reason for writing this review is to definitely highlight the deliciousness of their food, but mainly customer service. I had called half hr before arriving and gave brief instructions on what the occasion was for, I was beyond impressed on how on point they were. I have eaten here a lot, and have had many dishes. However, if you are in the mood for a more traditional pizzaria this is the spot, and I recommend the Calzone. You get to pick 4 toppings that you can have in it. It is made fresh and with a side of marinera to dip it in mm mm good. I like the more classic Italian dishes and i am very fond of chicken Marsala. We started with the cheese bread and the heirloom tomato stack (with the most delicious chèvre ever! That dish is something I will crave into the future). Then I had a cup of the artichoke bisque, which was literally the best soup I have ever had in my life. Gino's needs to sell that stuff in stores! My husband had a calzone after a recommendation by our extremely kind and gracious server, Paul. It looked so good, and he loved it. Gino's is consistently a great meeting place for lunch, and has servers who are friendly, keep your wine poured, water poured, and smiles all around. Recently had the skirt steak sandwich, a different choice for an Italian place, but it was amazing. Favorite pasta dish is the Pasta Pescatore, if you are a seafood fan, a must try. My sweeetie claims the cannaloni is great. Salinas needs more restaurants like this one. read more

My husband and I have passed this place many times on the way to out of town games for kids. We always talked about visiting there and just never did. We FINALLY decided to go and OMG!! We REALLY enjoyed it. We made reservations just in case, we actually showed up 30 minutes late (overtime of a game) and they still held our spot and greeted us very warmly!! The service was GREAT, and the staff gave great recommendations. I had the Shrimp Alfredo and my husband had an Italian sausage dish with pasta he thoroughly enjoyed it! For desert we had an Almond Tiramisu that was really good, and I don't even like tiramisus lol. The dish I enjoyed the most tho, was the Artichoke Bisque!!! Best seafood pasta ever. I been stuck at Lucille Packard Childrens Hospital for about 5 months. My sister was kind enough to bring me a plate of pasta. It was like dinner to the kings. I adore GIno's. As a regular visitor to the Salinas area, I always end up eating at Gino's. Whether I dine in or carry out, I am never disappointed. I love the artichoke bisque soup! The salads are always unique refreshing and delicious (especially the gino's salad or the beet salad!!) the pasta dishes are hard to beat, and they have some amazing desserts. Simply...this is a great place to eat. I would describe it as a family-friendly place with nice hearty, down-home food and a nice ambiance. The food is rich and delicious. Sometimes tastes on the buttery side, but who cares...the effect is wonderful. And if you don't eat here every night a little extra butter won't hurt. We had the artichoke bisque - delicious. Their pizzas are terrific. They taste like authentic Italian pizza. We also had the angel hair pasta with shrimp - they did not skimp on the shrimp. We sat outside in the patio - it was well-heated. The staff were all friendly and super-accommodating with our little ones and their needs. We don't live in Salinas - we were driving through and found this place on Yelp.
