We have been ordering & enjoying blackened chicken fettuccini from this family of restaurants for decades but we were left incredibly disappointed. I ordered a family meal for my birthday and we could barely eat the pasta. It was heavily drenched in sauce and the flavor of the Alfredo was similar to the jarred stuff with some cayenne sprinkled on top and not even mixed throughout. It was such a bizarre experience and not what we had come to expect from this usually fabulous meal. This place is literally a staple. We often order from here for work, birthdays and get togethers. All the food is absolutely phenomenal super fresh and it never disappoints. They have super good deals for big party packs. They also have good lunch specials, etc. they also have a fridge inside with grab and go options Which is amazing when you get off work and you don't feel like cooking. They have amazing soups and salads, and the portions are always generous So happy that this family is opening up other locations. They definitely deserve it! I don't want to tell people how absolutely life-changing the artichoke bisque is but thank me later -now when it's sold out, I only have myself to blame! read more

If I'm looking for something really fast, I definitely recommend heading to this place. The staff is friendly, the food is excellent, and the service is quick. It's a clean establishment. I particularly recommend the cheesecake, Alfredo pasta, and the delicious salad, along with the amazing cheese bread. I ordered the Fettuccine Gilroy, and while it tasted good, the price was really steep $37 for one plate of pasta, a slice of bread, and an old lemon bar. Unfortunately, I ended up getting food poisoning afterward, which was really disappointing since I was so excited to try it. The staff was nice, but the experience overall was upsetting. read more

My picture wouldn't even compare to how good and heart this meal was. I ordered the chicken Alfredo that also had wine mixed in, and I added shrimp. The only thing I would change is the tomatoes - they were very acidic and it just wasn't for me. Also, I wish the sauce were house made and if it were - and I mean this with all due respect - it reminded me of the garlic Parmesan ragu sauce. Sometimes when I want to make a quick dinner this is what I use especially when I don't have all of the ingredients for an Alfredo sauce. I'd come here again. Have had this place on my radar for a while, but I rarely get to Salinas. Was driving through and decided to stop since my kids would be tremendously excited about the concept of a build-your-own pasta place. Get there and find that all orders are technically to-go, and that the only seating is two picnic tables outside. Well, that's okay because the weather is nice. If the weather had not been nice, we wouldn't have been able to go. Food is pretty good. Came out very hot, and the portions are large. Spicy Italian sausage wasn't spicy at all, but packets of red pepper flakes (and Parmesan cheese) are offered at the counter when picking food up. That helped. The ambience is spacious, provides a comfortable waiting area. Its location is very accessible. Horrible service. I ordered over $500 of food supposed to be delivered by 11:45 ...called at 12:15 for the status and the restaurant never called back...The food never arrived. Service was great. Everyone was very kind and quick. The food was just terrible. My tri-tip was so overcooked it was like eating jerky. It was also really gristly and hard to tear and wasn't seasoned at all. The combo sauce I had was also bland and flavorless. Stopped by here on a trip and was very satisfied. The food was a really good portion and full of all the fixins (plenty of shrimp and sun-dried tomatoes in the Donatello). We love the owners, who own a couple of restaurants in town, most notably Gino's. This place is kind of Gino's lite. The food is of similar quality but the menu is pared way down and some dishes seem different, e.g. the tiramisu. There is a picnic table outside and I'm not sure if there's any indoor seating (in both cases the ambiance is not its strong point). It's pretty much a takeaway joint with solid service and good food. Oh, and they also carry Mariann's Ice Cream (the best of Santa Cruz)! I am going to mention a personal peeve, they bring their religion into the restaurant which, if the other things weren't so good, would turn me off and away. Otherwise YUM! read more

Ordered here a week ago and got food poisoning. I got a Michelangelo with garlic bread and immediately after eating I was puking and had diarrhea. At first I thought it was something else I ate but the next day when I had the leftovers of the pasta I got sick again. This pasta messed me up and I had food poisoning for 4 whole days. Wow! We were in for a pleasant surprise! Both pasta dishes we ordered were hefty in weight, piping hot, and freshly cooked, and full of meat! I will preface my constructive criticism with the fact that flavor-wise, this is some of the best Italian food I've ever had. That being said however, I will say that it's kind of pricy and if you order a full lasagna (which requires 24-hr notice), for some reason they don't put much sauce on it. I thought it might be a one-off, since the individual servings are smothered with delicious sauce and cheese. Not so with the full trays. I've ordered half a dozen times now, and it's the same scenario each time. I even commented on it the last time I ordered on their website online prior to pick-up, but it didn't make any difference. Came here for a quick bite to eat after a hospital visit because everyone has told me that this is the place for a good and fast lunch. I think they might have only gotten Half of that right because it definitely wasn't good. But it was speedy. Anyone who says this food is good has me questioning their taste buds or maybe is used to the buffet line pasta because this was not it. Ordered 2 dishes. Had aac and cheese for the kid which the kid usually destroys pasta and noodles. The most bland Mac and cheese. Having worked in an Italian restaurant when we made Mac and cheese we used flavorful cheese so that the pasta actually tasted like something. Seems like they mixed some bland cheeses with a little parmesan. And it lacked salt. Just a little bit of salt would ateast helped a little bit overall no flavor. I got the Leonardo which again was bland and had an odd Sour flavor to it. Again a little salt would have helped. But over all hadno flavor and the sun dried tomatoes were barely cut so when you would eat the pasta you would get stuck chewing these super chewy bits of what felt like leather. Not only lack of flavor but terrible mouth feel and eating experience. Def not worth the $ or the hype. I'd rather have a microwave pasta dish before I get this again. read more
