The fact that they put fresh mozzarella on there sets it apart from all the others and makes it out of this world! Their vodka grandma is amazing too! This was my first business visit to Long Island and a co-worker and I were hungry for Italian food. I checked Yelp and found that Gino's Pizzeria was only a few blocks away. The food reviews seemed consistent but the recent service reviews weren't as good. We decided to try it. At first glance from outside, we thought it was JUST a pizzeria, but there is a very nice dining room off to one side. The hostess, Danielle (it turns out that she is a family owner), was very pleasant and offered us menus to help us decide if we wanted to dine. Then Mike showed us to a table, introduced himself as our server and started to take care of us. He recommended a prix fixe menu, 3 courses for $20, part of a local restaurant promotion, and we ordered from it. My friend had the pasta fagiole soup and said it was hearty and delicious. I had the pecan salad for $1 extra and it was great. Both portions were more than we expected for staters. Then my friend had Shrimp Marinara with linguine. His plate looked amazing; the shrimp were large and the sauce color vibrant. I had the Pasta Pugliese (sp?) and it was wonderful and exactly as described. Again, both items were larger than we expected. Finally we had dessert, cannoli and tiramisu, and ordered 2 cappuccinos on the side. Once more, we were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and more than satisfying, delicious food. As far as the service, from Danielle at the door, to Mike our sever, and the busboys who maintained or table and kept our water glasses full, it was FANTASTIC! I dine out a lot in my line of work and was very impressed with how attentive everyone was! From start to finish, we enjoyed a very pleasant, well priced and delicious meal (and we both have leftovers for lunch). Went here for dinner two nights ago with 3 other people. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was excellent. Our waiter was great. He constantly checked in on us and would give us updates on when our food would come out (and he was pretty accurate), and he never got annoying. The food was good from start to finish. I ordered clams to start and they were very good. For dinner, I had shrimp with marsala sauce and melted cheese. I balanced out this incredibly unhealthy main dish with whole wheat pasta (like that would make much difference) but it was nice that there was a whole wheat option. The clams were small and a tad overpriced for how many you got, but the shrimp were huge. My wife had shrimp over a salad and enjoyed her meal. The other couple each had fish dishes and both really liked their meals as well. Overall, this was a very good experience and we will be going back. read more

My mom and I ordered take-out on a busy Friday night in the middle of summer and the service was excellent. We ordered the eggplant parm which came with a side of pasta pomodoro. The portion was large enough to feed at least two people and was delicious. We ordered a small Cesar salad, which was also enough for two and equally as good. As we were waiting for our food, we noticed people ordering the same thing over and over again; at least one slice of Grandma's per person, so I'll be back to give their pies a try, for sure. ***24 hours later (in SpongeBob narrator's voice)*** So Mom and I ordered delivery this time. We got three different slices: Neapolitan, Grandma's, and White, and these are in order of best-tasting to really-good tasting! The Neapolitan has a wonderful flavor (true New York pizza), Grandma's is an old-fashioned Italian basil and mozzarella square of yum, and the white is great because of the seasoned ricotta. We also got a small Garden salad, once again, big enough for two. I live only 4 blocks away, but the service was super fast; the order came in 20 minutes, half the estimated time. If you've never been to Gino's before lets start with the fact that there's two sides. The pizza side and the sit-down restaurant side. They also have a dessert and espresso bar that you can get things from during a sit down dinner or as takeout. Takeout Pizza side: 5 stars! I haven't tried every kind but they have consistently great pizza. Great crust, sauce, and toppings! Garlic knots are great too, love the sauce that comes with them. Restaurant side: 3.5 stars The staff is very friendly and you can tell they work as a team. The food varies; some dishes are very good but some are just average. The meatball appetizer is great (and huge). The garden salad was great. I was underwhelmed by the chicken marsala, it just wasn't very flavorful and seemed like it very one note and missing something. If you are feeling dessert, or want it to go, the Cannoli are great! They assemble them when ordered so everything is crispy and fresh. read more

Just a last minute decision to eat here. We figured the line out the door waiting for takeout at 4:30 pm on a Wednesday was a good sign. We were not disappointed. We sat in the dining area and were promptly served by Dana. She was personable from start to finish. I am a HUGE fan of buffalo chicken pizza which she stated that I absolutely had to try theirs. It. Was. A-mazing! I would be 500 pounds if this pizza was readily available to me on a daily basis and in my own back yard. BF had eggplant rollatini and salad. Both were great. Sauce is mild and not too sweet or bitter. Thank god they don't overdo it with garlic! I am 100% Italian and always hesitant to eat Italian food out. Food was great and we will be back. Gino's knows pizza...(and pasta too) For us NYC commuters, this place is simply evil. The late day hunger that we all get is only increased by the slow creeping of the LIRR train over the bridge before the station. The red "Gino's" sign basically calls you from Island Park, and you're lured in by the smell of fresh pizza being brought out of the oven. Why can't pizza be healtyh? It's just not fair... Well the slices are perfectly salty with the right amount of cheese and sauce. I definitely think the "plain" slice is the treat, though the buffalo chicken is a nice alternative. The prices are not cheap, but it's worth it for the best pizza in Long Beach. If you truly become addicted and choose to mask this by ordering other items off the menu - then go for any of the soups since they are all made fresh and seasoned to perfection. They are all nice and filling, and go perfect with a slice of pizza. The pizza is great. Good bread, sauce and cheese. Their veal marsala is quite good too. Only had a problem with it once when the sauce tasted like there was no marsala in it, but the waiter took it back and had the sauce redone and it was good. Came in 10 mins before closing with my hubby and in laws the other day. Had an incredible baked salmon, salad, spinach and a nice glass of wine. We were not rushed and enjoyed our meal complete with our great waiter Roy and even got to meet the manager who was very personable. To start I really really LOVE Gino's. I go there everyday for lunch. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. They get a 5 star rating. But, today I ordered a lunch pasta dish. Came out to 13 dollars after tax. Yes, it is a lunch portion, but I am very disappointed with how little pasta I was given for how much I paid. For 10 dollars they should serve a little more. Like I said I love Gino's. But I wish I knew how small the portion was for what I was paying before I purchased or I just would have gotten my normal slice or salad. read more

Pretty solid pizza joint in LB! Came here by recommendation from a few friends and it did not disappoint. So why the 3 stars? We ordered a large pie with half vodka and half white. We were upcharged $4 to split the pizza. I understand if one topping was more than the other but they didn't mention it. Also, my one friend was a vegetarian and noticed prosciutto in the vodka sauce. She asked the server who said there wasn't meat but there was 100% meat in the vodka sauce. When we asked a second time, he confirmed this after having him look directly at the pizza on the table. For vegetarians out there, make sure to order the vodka pizza without prosciutto in the sauce. Server didn't really apologize for the error. I thought the pizza was good but service isn't great. It's alright and I'd probably come back but have low expectations for service. read more

I'm a disabled old man. I was walking home from the grocery store when my shoulder bag suffered catastrophic failure in front of Gino's. A delivery driver, whose name I didn't ask in my frustrated tearful rage, saw my problem and took me home...a matter of five minutes in his car, but it might as well have been the Moon to me on foot. He resisted when I pressed my last little bit of cash on him. I insisted because he saved my entire food budget for the month! In recent years we have been extremely disappointed. 20 years ago this was the best Italian restaurant on the East Coast - probably anywhere - now - just eh - nothing fabulously delicious - don't know what changed, maybe the original cooks had a flair? Wow. Wow. Wow. Gino's is my new go to when I'm in Long Beach. My husband and I had the best experience. This was recommended by hotel staff and I'm sure glad we took them up on it. We walked in and we're immediately sat with waters and bread. We were expecting to spend a fortune because we saw whole pizza prices and they were pretty high. But, we saw they serve individual slices and we took a shot. Serving slices are HUGE! Enough for two people to split one in half and try four different kinds of pizza. All for $10! Our waiter was stellar. He was friendly, prompt, accommodating and all around uplifting. Anything we needed, he got for us. Every few minutes he was checking on us, and his 5 other tables. I came here with my sister and niece. The place is very large we arrived in the early evening around 5PM on a weekday so there wasn't anyone else in the seating area besides us. The waiter we had was new but he was fantastic, the food was taken out quickly and very fresh. Their bread while waiting was also fresh and served with butter. They are a little expensive, I can't speak on their peak times but for being slow, their food was still great. Will def. be back when I'm in the area! read more

They strive to provide excellent service and do so in an exceptional way. We decided to give Gino's another try after having a so so dinner a while back. This time, I have to say, the food was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The quality of food was very good and appetizing. Portions were perfect! What made this experience over the top were the smiling faces and service that was given to us while placing and picking up our order.. We now look forward to being regulars. This place hands down is top notch! My husband and I just recently moved back to the east coast and with years of having lack of italian and good pizza we were overwhelmed with the amazing dishes and pizza we ate at Gino's. It may be actually quite dangerous that this establishment is in walking distance from our new house... the pasta was cooked to perfection and the pink sauce was one of the yummiest sauces I have ever had, the pasta fagoili was incredible not too smoky from the pancetta it was perfect and the pizza to say the least was a perfect slice! Perfect amount of crunch from the crust, cheese was melted to a par and the sauce was delish! I am spending a week in the area. I have been to Gino's three times already! I've had the Sicilian Pizza, Chicken Roll and Cheese Cake. Everything I've ordered I would order again! With many enjoyable places to eat in Long Beach, it is becoming a culinary magnet. One of the best we have found is Gino's. Our waiter, Roy, set the tone when he was so inviting to the two small children in our party and calmed them right down. Gino's does not have a huge menu like many Italian restaurant go, but it offers everything you could possibly want and more. I was torn between the Filet of Sole Oreganato and the Veal Piccata, and finally selected the Tortellini Alla Penna and it was magnificent. I would have licked the plate if my grandkids weren't there. We also had the Eggplant Rollatini, the Fusilli Bolognese and a few slices for the kids. Add a bottle of Pinot Grigio and dinner was an affordable masterpiece. The venue is loud, very loud, because it is full of families having a great time. We came because we saw the great Yelp reviews. My daughter her friend and her Mom Alice ( my friend) we enjoyed our lovely waitress Jeanette and her sweet way. I ordered the salmon over broccoli rabe and beans . It was delicious! The side salad that came with it was wonderful too. Emily got the chicken parmigiana which was delicious and it came with a generous portion of pasta. The other 2 ladies ordered pasta primavera and loved it! I may be biased because i grew up around Gino's but I honestly think it's the best by the slice pizza on long island. I've come back and had at after years expecting it to disappoint me and it doesn't. The buffalo pizza is the perfect combination of cheese, spicy chicken, and crust. Tragedy has struck in Long Beach. The Grandfather that ran this business for years passed away over the summer and left the Gino's to his Grand Kids. They promptly fired all the head chef, changed the menu and destroyed what was an instituion in Long Beach. This once was a great place to get quality Italian fare that tastes great; on top of being one of the best pizza's bar none. Now, It is obvious that the ingredients that they are using are sub par and they are trying to charge more. An obvious attempt to affect the bottom line. I took my wife and daughter over the Thanksgiving break. Horrible! We won't be going back unless they switch everything back. What a shame! Beware of Roaches! I brought my mom here to eat. We sat at a booth for two next to the wall. As we were eating my mom starting screaming because of the roach crawling on the wall just above the tabletop. We jumped up grabbed our food and moved to a middle table. I called the waiter over who was extremely apologetic. We had no appetite to finish eating. When the waiter brought the bill I asked him if the manager was notified. He said yes. The manager never came over to speak with us, did not discount the bill and did not offer anything extra. We will NOT be going back to Gino's to eat again. read more

Horrible food and horrible environment! The owner sat at a table behind us and the whole time he kept calling different staff members and yelling at them. He made our waitress nervous because she kept looking over in his direction. I mean really, if you are going to get on your staff about the service they are providing then I think you need to first realize how uncomfortable YOU were making your customers feel.
