West End Pizza came to the rescue after my date and I left a nearby restaurant disappointed and still starving. We really just wanted to have a solid reliable slice of pizza before ending the night but West End blew our expectations out of the water! Biting into their sicilian slice for the very first time almost brought tears to my eyes. The burst of cheese, sweet marinara sauce, and crispy crunchy crust instantly washed away our dining regrets of the night and brought about a sense of comfort that only a 5-star pizza slice can bring. After that first slice, I couldn't help but buy another, as well as some garlic knots to-go. On top of the delicious grub, the guys at the counter were super chill, friendly, and funny. It was served hot, and an order for 2 was ready in 10 minutes as promised. If that's enough then this place is terrific. For me, I was expecting more than that for $30, and the taste of the food was just ok. The salad was actually awful, so I wouldn't waste time on that one. Besides that, Sicilian is crispy though looked a day or two old and reheated, and chicken roll and regular slices were unremarkable but again, at least served hot. FINALLY. 3 weeks in New York and this place has made me want to shout from the mountain tops. Great service. The cook asked me three times if I liked the salad. Well. Duhhhh. My cousins and I ordered delivery from here to our beach club. The kids thought the pizza was ok. The eggplant roll wasn't bad but wasn't your typical eggplant roll (eggplant with sauce but no cheese or flavor). The chicken and veal samdwiches were awful. The bread was absolutely black in places and so was the meat on the inside. Not just crispy, but black! We were hungry so we tried to eat around some of the burnt parts but it was salty and tasted awful. We called to see if they would give us a credit for this. The the girl said she didnt think so but that if we sent her pictures, she would have her boss get back to us. We sent her pictures but never heard back. This place gets one star for having pizza 8 year olds will eat, but that's it. read more

As for their specialty slices, they're very however their plain slices and Sicilian slices sort of have no flavor and are oddly cardboard tasting. The service is usually fairly prompt at the counter and the inside is nicely done and the A/C in the summer is ice cold, always a plus. Overall their pizza in the special slice category in pretty decent but there's much better choices out their for a more traditional route. read more

Beware of this business. The food is good but they are set up to rip you off at the register. First of all, they have claimed for almost a year that their menus are being printed. Nine out of ten times you walk into West End they have a fresh pie ready to cut you a slice from. No need to reheat or reconstitute the slice. Just a hot, fresh delicious slice of pizza always waiting for you when you walk in. Without mentioning the other pizzeria by name, one you walk in and every slice on the counter looks like it was made 10 hours ago, and the other a bit further away has absolutely no flavor or soul in their pizza. A staple of the West End of Long Beach. Can't tell you how many times I've sat in this spot as a kid with a group of friends. It's changed a lot over the past 2 decades, used to be across the street. Moved to this spot maybe a little bit more than 10 years ago. Recently added ices as well. East End pizza's rambunctious little brother, if you stop by here on a weekend night in the summer there's no question you'll see more than a few people that should've headed home 2 drinks ago. This is the best pizzeria I have ever been to in the US. Every summer I look forward to getting pizza here after going to the beach. I remember the first time I tried a "pin wheel," I never heard of such a thing before. They put seeds on their pizza crust and it's nice and thin. The best options here are: the bacon cheddar pin wheel, crestino slice, grandma slice penne a la vodka slice, buffalo chicken slice, and bacon chicken ranch slice. Although their pizza is good there soup is not. Their take out minestrone soup was watery, tasteless, with very few frozen type vegetables, very few beans,mostly watery broth. Minestrone soup should be hearty with loads of fresh vegetables and beans. I threw it out after trying it. The bread that came with it was a disappointment, it was soft mushy white italian bread. I am never sure if anyone reads these and can count on three fingers my writing reviews because I will always give the mom and pop the benefit of doubt.......HOWEVER; Two times a charm for west end!!! Over the winter we ordered soups (corn crab chowder) that had apparently spoiled......We called and advised the store that it was separated called and spoke to the girl taking orders. She told me I was wrong. I told her I was not looking for anything but it should be checked to avoid anyone getting getting sick. The rest of our meals were fine. Last night we ordered for the first time in a while.......EVERYONE in the house became violently ill over the evening into the night thru the morning......The ONLY common thread to the day was WEST END!!!! I called to give them a heads up that maybe something dairy or chicken maybe a miss to be informed by the telephone order person Allie who is a medical assistant that she knows it was nothing there and that I had a dirty kitchen!!!! To say this place has gone downhill since sandy is an understatement. Slices are too garlicky, as is their pastas. Used to love this place but just haven't been happy with it in a while. Chicken parm is decent and I like their specialty crusts with the sesame seeds. Otherwise go to Gino's Ps they give you so much bread it's insane nobody can possible eat an entire loaf on their own it's a waste. West End Pizza is a good pizza place. It's clean, the staff is friendly and the pizza is pretty darn good! The nearby Joe's Pizza does not hold a candle to West End Pizza and neither does Gino's on the East End of LB. The specialty slices I had were excellent. I have not had a chance to try the regular yet but will update when I do. They also have tap beer there and what goes wtih pizza best? BEER! (or soda) LOL So, that's pretty effin awesome! Cheers!
