Owners we loved and food we loved vanished after the Village of Island Park, NY placed a Stop Work order on the restaurant effectively forcing them out of business. The new and erstwhile owners have returned and have reopened the business. So far, they are not offering the beloved Tuesday Pasta Specials and the Thursday Chicken Specials. I hope they do. We ate there and the food was fine but they are now serving some dishes on huge plates that take up most of the table. When I request Parmesan cheese to add to my dish, I was offered Romano in a cold hard to shake glass dispenser. I'm adverse to sheep's milk cheeses. DaVinci has both a pizzeria and a restaurant. Tuesday night is pasta night, $19.99 for a meal on the pasta menu, a salad, dessert and coffee. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the servers and hosts are professional and courteous. The Penne Pollo Caprese was delicious and their coffee was brewed nice and strong. Thought I'd give them another chance, ordered a half dozen baked WHOLE clams, out of 6, 3 had NO CLAM, Just a red (?) soggy bread mixture soaking in broth, HORRIBLE! My meal Linguine Puttanesca was decent, but way too salty, I know Capers, Olives and Anchovies are salty and my favorites, but it's the sauce here, it is always too salty. My kids like to draw on the table cloths and have pizza and pasta. I like the fish and chicken dishes. Filet of sole Oreganato is tops and I'm picky with my seafood, growing up catching my own. They get their fish daily from two cousins in Freeport. I also love the marsala and the franceses combo and anything parm. They're always so friendly and genuinely happy to see you when you come in. Loved the food and drinks-great menu!! We had the pasta fagioli and the baked clams. For dinner we had the chicken Isabella, the chicken Mona Lisa the eggplant and the pork chop. We ordered the French martini, espresso martini and 2 other specialty martinis. Since the ownership of this restaurant changed hands a few years ago it's been downhill. The culmination of the destruction of their reputation happened last week. I had an event scheduled for last weekend for a not for profit organization celebrating cancer survivors. The restaurant has been closed for over a month with electrical issues and a dept of health issue. No one from the restaurant contacted me to tell me that they could not hold my event. They left me stranded the night before the event. I contacted them over a week ahead of the event and then as it got closer. Never got a response. They took my deposit and have not returned it. I was greeted by the staff, particularly the bartender, who turned out to be the owner's daughter. Her genuine hospitality, accompanied by a warm welcoming personality and inviting smile, stood out to me. I Saw the Vibrant new special menu and got the mussels and clams, they were delicious. Fresh, flavorful, served in a generous portion. Besides the food what really sold me was meeting the owner and his daughter. I hadn't been here in years due to the "no slices" in the dining room policy, which was ridiculous when my kids were young and really didn't eat too much... unless of course you went to school with the waitress, and then it was okay ... I was told there was new ownership, urged to try it again since the food was very good... when I saw them on Too Good To Go I decided to give them another shot... I was able to sample six different slices of their specialty pies and they were all amazing! Have been going 5here for over 15 years and am sorry to say I will no longer go there. Tonight was a great disappointment. The food and the service was terrible. I order my usual Filet of sole over angel hair pasta with the same sauce. The fis h portion was reduced fron 2 filets to one The filet and pasta were dry and the waitress never returned for me to request Parmigiano cheese for the pasta. The fish was loaded with oregano and I hardly touched it. I orderedinnestrone soup which came 20 minutes after the main course was served and it was totally watered down. When the waitress finally returned I politely complained and she gave me the check and said thank you. I paid my check and left. This not the same Davincis since was sold. Was here two different times and forgot to write a review. Was here for a family party, and then my birthday dinner with friends. The restaurant is pretty. I like the decor a lot. We had caesar salad, rigatoni ala vodka, chicken piccata, and one other chicken dish. I've also had their fried calamari, and their baked artichokes. I love their vodka sauce and the artichoke! The service was kind of questionable both times. They have a young staff that doesn't seem to understand or know what we were asking for. Although very nice, they just didn't seem to understand. Not sure if there was a language barrier there. When it was my birthday dinner, they only had two types of desserts left. They were out of most of the options on the menu. Wow! Was in the area for my birthday and wanted a solid Italian meal to celebrate. I let my yelpers help me narrow down to this restaurant and i was not disappointed! For starters we ordered the chef special scallops in Gorgonzola sauce that was divine. The amazing calamari perfectly crisp with the awesome anchovy mayonnaise and the baked clams that were really tasty. Service by Dana was superb she was attentive, delightful and made some awesome suggestions. I went with my 2 nieces so we went with a few entrees to share them. We ordered the chef chicken carroza special with risotto. Chicken stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella, asparagus and roasted peppers what can I say? It was amazing! I ordered the veal picata with a side of penne a la vodka that was perfect! My other niece ordered the orechetti pasta with sausage, and broccoli rab that was to die for! For dessert a beautiful chorus of happy birthday to cannolis, tiramisu, and cheesecake. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday dinner. Davinci's , what's has happened to you? We were steady delivery customers for years. We've noticed a decline and tonight clinched our decision to switch restaurants. Here's why: 1) I called when the delivery was 10 minutes late. The phone person said he left. She was right, but I shouldn't have had to call. 2) the two slices ordered were delivered cold . Had to put those in the toaster oven. 3) Snapple was ordered but not delivered. 4) Caesar salad croutons were out of a box. BTW, my husband said his meatball hero was "meh." I should note that I haven't had pizza in six months (serious health reasons) but got permission from my surgeon today. Oh how I craved that pizza and salad. I didn't take pictures and I wasn't impressed. I had a meatball parm hero and it was just mediocre at best. Service was ok. We had to ask for the table to be wiped down. I don't think their air conditioning was working and it was super hot inside. The guy tried to turn a small fan in our direction. Not fun to eat while you're sweating.
