Tl:dr you come for the people, the food and the Celtic vibes. Mary is an absolutely fantastic human being. Cannot overstate this enough. We are locals in the community and live nearby. We don't always get out to restaurants as a family as much as we'd like to, but she has remembered us EVERY time we came in. Really made a connection and really made us feel valued. The space is large and even has an outdoor patio for nice weather times. You could definitely host and event there (last time I grabbed lunch they were setting up for a birthday party.) The place also usually hosts a very fun NYE party that celebrates when it turns midnight in Ireland! The food and drinks have always been delicious and quality made. I most recently tried their curry chicken quesadilla (I'm normally very adventurous but I knew my 2 year olds would be stealing bites and they and I totally loved this) very flavorful and the curry and sauce gave it an extra nice flavor without being spicy. My husband loved the spuds which are like coin shaped potatoes and a great side. Mary also does things like helps to sponsor the free for the community Christmas light decoration at the nearby park ran by the garden district. Stopped in for a cold drink and some air conditioning on a boiling hot day in the summer and got just what we needed. Refreshing! The place is open and airy, clean and the small crowd was pleasant and fun. The folks seemed to be a sports team of some kind as most of them had on matching jerseys. We weren't hungry and only had about 20 minutes before we had to move on, so we didn't get any food, but we did look at the menu just in case we'd come back later. Unfortunately, there weren't any vegan options that we could spot right away, so we can only have drinks here in the future. Anyone who follows me knows that I don't give out 5 stars very often because that is truly reserved for an awesome experience but today I'm letting one out. My first visit to this new to me restaurant/bar had some issues with my takeout order, it was all messed up to be honest so I called to let them know. Well the woman who made my order realized it just as I left and couldn't correct it so when I called she said that she took full responsibility and would correct it the next time that I was in the area. Today I was in the area and the bartender and her remembered my situation and I gave them the benefit of the doubt in my first review because they seemed genuine in correcting the mess up and they did correct it as promised. The woman asked if I had frys with my first burger and I didn't lie and told her no because I was not looking for any extra free items and she said that she would throw in a potato of my chocolate so I said sure. Today's order would be the bacon cheeseburger rare with the works and mayo. I love how they pack the takeout with some thought and place the food in separate areas like the frys in one, the basic bacon cheeseburger by it self wrapped and the cold fresh toppings wrapped separately so when you assemble this bacon cheeseburger it's not all mushy from the drive home. The works is lettuce, pickles, red onions and tomato's with mayo which is just how I like my cheeseburger topped. The frys were my favorite, battered frys that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside seasoned perfectly, I'm sorry health nuts because frys need to be seasoned to be enjoyed. The bacon cheeseburger was cooked rare with a decent amount of bacon, thank you. When fully assembled with the thick cut fresh toppings it's an un hinge your jaw big burger to eat. The bacon cheeseburger was good and exactly what I wanted to fill my crave. Overall they honored their word and corrected my first experience and then some because sometimes I want a beer after work and take a burger home for dinner. I noticed that one of the reviews indicated that the place was reopened under a new name and management having only a few reviews. Always a little nervous when you have a 5-star rating with under five reviews! We visited the place last night and 6 people were sitting at the bar with no one eating. For a Saturday night at 6PM that surprised me. The place is roomy with a huge outdoor seating area. We were waited on by the bartender who gave our party of 4 one menu? Hummm... Drink order was very prompt. The menu was very simple with only a few entrée items and the back page filled with pizza options. Personally I like a simple menu, but I would suggest giving one menu to each guest. We placed our order and each of us order something different. The order took a few minutes over my expected meal service time (10 minutes). Everything was served hot and presented well. The ketchup was served in the bottle cold! (Another sign of a classy joint). My hamburger was hand pressed and very thick. It tasted GREAT! The French fries were batter fried and tasted great as well. We ordered the chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were homemade! Taste was good, I would add some flavor to the batter wrapping the cheese. Chicken fingers, standard out of the box taste. My wife had the chicken pizza burger. The taste was very good! It sure made those chicken strips come to life! Sauce was mild and had good flavor. Overall, I can't believe this place is not full of people! It is very clean, plenty of sports TV's and the food was very good (homemade not frozen burgers!) I will certainly return when I visit Milwaukee again. To top it off, XM radio classic vinyl playing in the background. So why not a 5? A few areas for growth; More menus, napkins on the table with extra packs of silverware. I stopped in here on a whim for a pint and a shot with a few friends. I was pleasantly surprised with the changes the new ownership has made. (This bar used to be Rookies.) The place is cleaner and brighter, and I think the food is better. (Try the pizza.) Plus the owner makes a mean black and tan. The seating area is large and open with plenty of tables. They have enough room to accommodate large groups like a softball team stopping in without feeling crowded. Plus there is a large outdoor patio for the warmer months. They have Foosball! As well as some arcade and video slot games. TVs are ample with a good mix of traditional and extreme sports. The service and hospitality are great. Got carryout last night from Gingerz during the Taste of the Gateway event. My husband and I hadn't tried their food before. The service was friendly and they were very happy to have our business. We both got burgers with fries and shared Gingerz Stickz. I had the whiskey glaze burger with grilled onions on it... it was phenomenal! The fries almost tasted like they were deep fried which added a delicious layer of crunchiness; we ordered spicy mayo to dip them in. Although it's a small menu, the food was excellent. The Reuben Rolls and the fresh cheeseburger, was amazing and beyond bar-style expectations. We arrived early to Wisconsin from Illinois for Summerfest and had two hours to kill before our hotel would let us check in. I looked on yelp and found this bar was open and had a high rating so we stopped in. The place is really nice inside and very modern! What we didn't like was the kitchen didn't open until 1:00 pm and that you had to pay for everything. To play shuffleboard for a game to 15 points it was $2.00. Amazing deliciousness all the way around at our Safer at Home family dinner. Fish fry was hot, fresh and flaky. Sides were superb French fries, coleslaw and rye bread. Only mishap on carry out was butter pat melted due to piping hot food - no biggie to me. My son devoured the whiskey glazed burger and longed for more sauce as he licked the wrap clean our daughter in law was excited and overwhelmed with her Irish Nachos. She enjoys corned beef and while there was ample being from Texas longed for more. Our grandson meanwhile had the chicken tenders which were quality size and superb taste. He used the dipping sauce from the onion petals which my son and he both wished to an endless supply to satisfy their craving. We were thrilled to support this local business and highly recommend others to enjoy their curbside service until we can meet up and toast to good health. This is the only bar my fiance and I enjoy going to. The food is amazing, the owners and staff are fantastic, and they frequently have live music on the patio during the warmer months. They also have bag tournaments (yes, we have a team and participate!) which they want to make for each season. The atmosphere and vibe of the place itself is so great. Love this spot!!! Incredibly friendly owners and staff have put in great updates that give the place a really warm feel despite it having a lot of room to accommodate groups of all sizes. Tons of games available like shuffleboard, darts, foosball and some pretty sweet board games. Checked out the wine tasting event and have to say there isn't much that beats chilling w/ some great people outside on a beautiful evening enjoying some terrific wine. This is a great little pub, now! Full disclosure: I was never a big fan when this was Rookie's. It needed a lot of work and the staff just wasn't very friendly. These new owners have done a great job, so far! We've been in a few times since the change and each time was friendly and efficient service. We are visiting Milwaukee and found Gingerz during a search for a locally owned, casual dining spot. We went Monday @7 pm. The place was empty. It's clean and tidy. The service was good and the waitress was efficient. Our food was good. We were a bit surprised that a pitcher of beer was $18! The food is solid.
