Tl:dr you come for the people, the food and the Celtic vibes. Mary is an absolutely fantastic human being. Cannot overstate this enough. We are locals in the community and live nearby. We don't always get out to restaurants as a family as much as we'd like to, but she has remembered us EVERY time we came in. Really made a connection and really made us feel valued. The space is large and even has an outdoor patio for nice weather times. You could definitely host and event there (last time I grabbed lunch they were setting up for a birthday party.) The place also usually hosts a very fun NYE party that celebrates when it turns midnight in Ireland! The food and drinks have always been delicious and quality made. I most recently tried their curry chicken quesadilla (I'm normally very adventurous but I knew my 2 year olds would be stealing bites and they and I totally loved this) very flavorful and the curry and sauce gave it an extra nice flavor without being spicy. My husband loved the spuds which are like coin shaped potatoes and a great side. Mary also does things like helps to sponsor the free for the community Christmas light decoration at the nearby park ran by the garden district. She is invested in the community and we should be invested in her, will definitely be back! We definitely need to be support local business owners like her!

Stopped in for a cold drink and some air conditioning on a boiling hot day in the summer and got just what we needed. Refreshing! The place is open and airy, clean and the small crowd was pleasant and fun. The folks seemed to be a sports team of some kind as most of them had on matching jerseys. We weren't hungry and only had about 20 minutes before we had to move on, so we didn't get any food, but we did look at the menu just in case we'd come back later. Unfortunately, there weren't any vegan options that we could spot right away, so we can only have drinks here in the future. It's nice to know we can come here for a cold beer on a hot day--it's right in our neighborhood.

Anyone who follows me knows that I don't give out 5 stars very often because that is truly reserved for an awesome experience but today I'm letting one out. My first visit to this new to me restaurant/bar had some issues with my takeout order, it was all messed up to be honest so I called to let them know. Well the woman who made my order realized it just as I left and couldn't correct it so when I called she said that she took full responsibility and would correct it the next time that I was in the area. Today I was in the area and the bartender and her remembered my situation and I gave them the benefit of the doubt in my first review because they seemed genuine in correcting the mess up and they did correct it as promised. The woman asked if I had frys with my first burger and I didn't lie and told her no because I was not looking for any extra free items and she said that she would throw in a potato of my chocolate so I said sure. Today's order would be the bacon cheeseburger rare with the works and mayo. I love how they pack the takeout with some thought and place the food in separate areas like the frys in one, the basic bacon cheeseburger by it self wrapped and the cold fresh toppings wrapped separately so when you assemble this bacon cheeseburger it's not all mushy from the drive home. The works is lettuce, pickles, red onions and tomato's with mayo which is just how I like my cheeseburger topped. The frys were my favorite, battered frys that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside seasoned perfectly, I'm sorry health nuts because frys need to be seasoned to be enjoyed. The bacon cheeseburger was cooked rare with a decent amount of bacon, thank you. When fully assembled with the thick cut fresh toppings it's an un hinge your jaw big burger to eat. The bacon cheeseburger was good and exactly what I wanted to fill my crave. Overall they honored their word and corrected my first experience and then some because sometimes I want a beer after work and take a burger home for dinner. Thank you once again and I enjoyed the perfect cooked bacon cheeseburger.

We walked into this bar/restaurant on an evening after helping my friend move into the neighborhood. There was 1 person at the bar and the rest of the large restaurant was empty. The food was what you'd expect for a neighborhood bar. The bun for my burger was larger than I would prefer but was light and fluffy.

I noticed that one of the reviews indicated that the place was reopened under a new name and management having only a few reviews. Always a little nervous when you have a 5-star rating with under five reviews! We visited the place last night and 6 people were sitting at the bar with no one eating. For a Saturday night at 6PM that surprised me. The place is roomy with a huge outdoor seating area. We were waited on by the bartender who gave our party of 4 one menu? Hummm... Drink order was very prompt. The menu was very simple with only a few entrée items and the back page filled with pizza options. Personally I like a simple menu, but I would suggest giving one menu to each guest. We placed our order and each of us order something different. The order took a few minutes over my expected meal service time (10 minutes). Everything was served hot and presented well. The ketchup was served in the bottle cold! (Another sign of a classy joint). My hamburger was hand pressed and very thick. It tasted GREAT! The French fries were batter fried and tasted great as well. We ordered the chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were homemade! Taste was good, I would add some flavor to the batter wrapping the cheese. Chicken fingers, standard out of the box taste. My wife had the chicken pizza burger. The taste was very good! It sure made those chicken strips come to life! Sauce was mild and had good flavor. Overall, I can't believe this place is not full of people! It is very clean, plenty of sports TV's and the food was very good (homemade not frozen burgers!) I will certainly return when I visit Milwaukee again. To top it off, XM radio classic vinyl playing in the background. So why not a 5? A few areas for growth; More menus, napkins on the table with extra packs of silverware. PS the foosball and table scuffle board is great fun! $600/discs for the scuffle board tells me this place/owner does not skimp on quality!

Whiskey glaze burger with fries and spicy mayo; Gingerz Stickz

Got carryout last night from Gingerz during the Taste of the Gateway event. My husband and I hadn't tried their food before. The service was friendly and they were very happy to have our business. We both got burgers with fries and shared Gingerz Stickz. I had the whiskey glaze burger with grilled onions on it... it was phenomenal! The fries almost tasted like they were deep fried which added a delicious layer of crunchiness; we ordered spicy mayo to dip them in. The Gingerz Stickz were basically like a thin crust cheese pizza without sauce... it came with marinara to dip the sticks in and was definitely tasty!

Great service here. The owner was extremely attentive. Fun atmosphere and the food looked awesome. A nice sampler platter. Quality TVs all over the place. It is a sport bar. They do have a great patio, not for winter in summer it is great.

The other components of the dish included fried bangers (sausages), black & white pudding (blood sausage & pork), baked beans, sauteed mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, bacon, and another small puck of sausage, as well as brown bread and butter. It was a great value with some items I liked and some I didn't due to personal preference, not because anything wasn't prepared well, as it all appeared to be cooked properly. My girlfriend ordered the Celtic Grilled Cheese with bacon, arugula, aged white cheddar, aioli, grilled tomatoes on toasted sourdough. Her sandwich looked amazing, and I regret not asking for a bite. That may be a future order for me. She loved it! I also ordered the County Clare Bloody Mary, which is made with their own seasoning blend and served with a chaser of Harp beer. They asked me how spicy I wanted it, and I said medium, which I think they nailed. This was one of the best Bloodies I've had in town! Overall, a nice brunch experience with good service and a great ambience. I do want to return to try more brunch items.

The atmosphere and decor are warm, moody, and cozy as one would expect from a British pub. Prices are decent for the Brady area. The scotch eggs were good. Small and delicious bites of protein goodness. My favorite thing was the fish fry/fish and chips. The fish was the best part because it was flaky with a light, crispy batter. Now there are two things that didn't go well. The first is the Lancashire hotpot. Traditional ones are supposed to have thin potatoes all covered over the top. This one only had a few on the side. See the picture below. The menu even said "topped with potatoes." The stew itself just tasted like ground beef in beef broth. It was sad. Service was not good. Our server never checked on us the whole night after taking our order. We couldn't get any drink refills and had to flag down a different server to close out our order. I generally enjoy British food and will come back to give them another chance. I would order different things next time, though.

Excellent Lake Perch for Friday Fish Fry!…read more Combine excellent fare w good bartop energy and great service (Daniel) it adds up to 5-Stars. This place is not a secret as packed busy on a Friday early afternoon. The regulars were welcoming and fun. I had to have my Lake Perch fix and Swingin' Door delivered. The perch was fresh and lightly breaded. I tend to overdo it when in Wisco and had a clam chowder as a starter. The GF had the Rueben which also served as breckie snack the next day. I surprisingly don't have many options in my "MKE - Fish Fry" collection that are near downtown, but Swinging Door Exchange was one of them. I was pressed for time, so I placed a to go order rather than dining in. I got the combo fish fry (two pieces of cod, two pieces of perch, and three fried shrimp) with potato pancakes. I was also very easily talked into the half rack rib appetizer. The ribs were good, even though I prefer sauce that's more sweet and smokey. Their sauce was on the tangy side with a tease of spice that really only became noticeable when the majority of the half rack was gone. If I were in the mood for ribs as my main meal, I'd consider getting theirs as an entree. The two potato pancakes weren't homemade; instead, they were premade hash brown patties that some other restaurants also serve with their fish frys. These were perfectly acceptable in lieu of homemade pancakes. The cod tasted great, but the breading didn't hold up very well. Either the fish itself was too wet or the two block walk back to my car allowed for condensation to wreck it or possibly both. The perch was not yellow lake perch but probably something like pike perch. Even though both kinds of fish and the shrimp were all good sized portions, $29 feels like a lot. I wouldn't say no to it, though, if I were dining in next time and avoid the extra cost of their takeout fee. Shout-out to the bartenders working that night. The bar area was absolutely packed, but both of the ones I talked to about placing my order were friendly and helpful even with being super busy.

Very tasty sauce (hot honey garlic, at Thomas' recommendation) that wasn't overdone or underdone - just the right amount. I usually get my wings naked because so many places go wrong with the amount of sauce (usually just too drenched), but since we were on a timeline tonight, we just ordered without asking for anything else. So glad we did! By the way, not fried wings, so not super crunchy on the outside but still crispy and not at all soggy. And super moist, perfect temp inside. Date of visit: November 20, 2025…read more We had not been here in years, but came with some friends for the Milwaukee County Historical Society trivia. It definitely seemed that the staff here were simply not prepared for the volume of people that came out to celebrate the area and support the Historical Society. Emma, our server, was definitely trying, but not always succeeding, neglecting to enter in some parts of the order until far later into the evening (our friends didn't receive their order of garlic bread for about 45 minutes after their entrees were delivered) though oddly enough, she was always ready to bring someone another alcoholic beverage. Thankfully the food I had was pretty good, the grilled cheese sandwich paired well with their tomato bisque soup--I took a chance on the soup not being a traditional tomato soup fan (Campbell's? Gross!) but I found Three Lions version to be hearty and flavorful, definitely a combo that I would get again in the future. I would just come on a night when they could keep up with the crowds far better! Pro tip: Ask for croutons for the soup, they elevated a good soup to an amazing soup.
