I was really surprised to see some of the negative reviews because that doesn't reflect our experience at all. We had an excellent experience from start to finish at Gillette's Interstate RV. Every person we interacted with made the process smooth, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable. Kyler and Tara in sales were fantastic--low pressure, informative, and never rushed us. They took the time to answer our questions and helped us feel confident in our decision without any pushy sales tactics. Financing was just as positive: friendly, quick, and incredibly easy, with very reasonable interest rates. It took a lot of the stress out of a big purchase. Before we took our new Jay Feather travel trailer home, the service department gave us a thorough, clear walkthrough, making sure we understood everything and felt prepared for our first trip. We absolutely love our new travel trailer and are already counting down the days until we take it out in a couple of months. We recently purchased a used truck camper from Gillette's. We live in Tennessee and had to rely on the photos supplied in the for sale ad and also on the word of Brian, our salesman. So somewhat nervously, we paid a deposit and then waited while our truck was prepared here in Tennessee. A month later, we made the 500 mile trip up to Gillette's. We could not have been happier with our experience there. Not only was the camper ready, prepped, and waiting, but two men in the service department, John and Mark, generously spent lots of time with us newbies and made sure every question was answered. Brian also did not disappoint. The camper was even better than he described. And even Kyle in accounting managed to find a creative way to make us especially happy. My husband and I bought a little 2016 R-Pod trailer from Gillette RV in 2017. We never had a problem with that trailer and kept it in great shape ! after using it for a few years, we decided to sell our very LOVED R-Pod and upgrade into something larger to accommodate our elderly parents for some camping. Upon arrival we were greeted by a salesman named Brian Monaghan- brian@gillettesrv.com and asked to join him in his desk area. as we approached his desk, my husband looked down, cleared his throat. Looking up at Brian then back down at Brian's phone as Brian quickly shut down the PORN VIDEO he was watching. Luckily, I didn't have my glasses on. Brian quickly asked us what type of camper we were looking for, and we explained to him that we have been researching many trailers, and wanted to look at a few freedom expresses .we've looked at a few and discuss some prices my husband and I left for the day ,and said we would get back with Brian with our final decision. We actually were given a slightly better price at a RV place in Gaylord, but we thought we should keep our sales locally that way, it can be serviced locally. HUGE MISTAKE! We bought the camper at the end of October, and it sat in our pole barn covered until May when we went on our maiden voyage. Everything seemed fine. it towed like a breeze! However, after the first shower things started leaking left and right. my husband spent the weekend fixing leaks in the trailer. (We keep our trailer for three months in Munising) when we returned the following week it had rained pretty hard we open our camper and go into the bedroom where our brand new $600 mattress is soaking wet. The floor has about an inch of water STANDING ! the front windshield significantly leaked and destroyed the wood under the bed. My husband and I were horrified. This is a brand new trailer. We poured our savings into this trailer and we feel like we received a lemon. We tried to call Gillette and our previous salesman. Brian we waited a week and never got a return phone call. We actually had to use my daughters phone to call and speak to our salesman who actually answered the phone in two rings .(this was after leaving him multiple messages.) needless to say my husband was a little upset with the whole process, and decided to NOT BE IGNORED anymore ,and go in and talk to the general manager Stuart Brabant-stuart@gillettesrv.com after we drove 6 1/2 hours back down from Munising. We absolutely thought that the general manager would be sympathetic to us maybe, "I'm so sorry about all the problems you've had, and maybe give us a new mattress since ours was destroyed ,knowing that he sold us an RV that is a lemon. Stuart Brabant agreed to fix our windshield within a timely manner so our whole summer wasn't ruined .( even though it's Gillette RV that needs to fix the windshield) we finally got to take our camper back to Munising only to spend the summer fixing non-stop leaks, furnace disconnections ,mold issues because of the leak , toilet leaking, shower leaking, weak shower floor, destroyed $600 Denver camper mattress, bed frame destroyed and moldy, outdoor kitchen sink leaking into the bathroom floor. The inside of the camper it's self looks like it was put together by a toddler. My husband and I are not rich people! We had to save a lot of money to put down on this trailer that we thought we would have for the rest of our lives. But once Gillette RV makes that SALE, YOU,RE FORGOTTEN! not only are you forgotten but you are now a BURDEN! the last time my husband and I were inside the show room the general manager heard us chatting and abruptly shut his door, and refuse to speak to us. we are not asking for anything that is unfair. We just want some things fixed and a new mattress. However, when we called back to set up yet another appointment to fix the things that are wrong, we were met with resistance and the man who answered the phone at service actually asked my husband why he was coming back to them ! We didn't think that was too much to ask from a company that generates approximately $2.3 million in annual sales. We recently put a deposit down to pick up a new RV on a all cash purchase. The follow day everyone at this dealership stopped talking communicating. On the third day we received a call that they decided to sell to someone else. This decision is just example of how unethical the spineless little manager at this dealership is. Disappointing experience to say the least. our sales person was Mike Taravella. While dealing with him over the internet he answered most of my questions. While they offered a very attractive price I keep getting "this unit is at rock bottom." I didn't realize that "rock bottom price" meant poor customer service while outlaying over 20K in cash at the same time. I had asked about getting a bumper mounted grill added in as part of the purchase, he said he'd see about it. he didnt email me back for 2 day about the grill until we were in route. that we were in route from South - Central Indiana so needless to say a little late. ( Makes me wonder if that was intentional and if he's as shady as the rest). I had requested that the unit be ready for our inspection and had agreed upon a date and anticipated time that we would arrive. Was told that it was fine and we could text if were running ahead or behind. about 2 days before were to head up i get an email asking me when we planned on coming up. On what day you wanted to come up here and pick the unit up? Last thing I Remember is you asked if this week or next would be ok. I said that was fine but still need to schedule you in for a time and date." I stated "I'd mentioned Friday @ about 10am. You said you'd put me down for 11 but I could text if early or behind." mike then said I apologize. I see you on the schedule just making sure. Always want to dot my I's and cross my T's." I'm not sure who he's trying to fool because he obviously didn't get me on the schedule. Then he asks if i can do later in the day. Absolutely not. He basically greeted us then disappeared. The inspection person we were put with was Cody. He took us out to the unit and we began our inspection. First of the unit was filthy. I was horrified that they are offering a unit that had not been cleaned. I notice big black ants in the unit. Cody would kill them and toss them out the door. I didn't think to much about a few ants.... more later. We made our punch list. We opted to have the exterior protection done... I'll elaborate more on that later. About an hour later we were told that it was ready. We go back out i see that virtually noting on the punch list was touched. I was starting to loose my cool at this point. They knew in advance that we traveled almost 5 hours each way. I went on to further examine the units exterior. It was to have been washed as part of the prep for the exterior protection product. Yet i took a white towel form my truck and wiped off black dirt on the front of the unit. I asked are we sure you did the front? They said yes but they kind of all disappear when i showed them the towel with the grime i wiped off. I don't think I'd do any type of "Protection Plan" again. seemed like a rip off to me especially since they were have washed the unit. It was like we have our cash in hand so were done. There was one guy Nick that was so disconnected and obviously didn't care one bit. It really makes we wonder how this place has survived the re-session. If I knew before considering this unit what I know know I would go else where to spend my hard earned cash. I had considered another dealer in MO. Oh and I bet we killed in excess of 100 big black ants over the first 48 hours that we had the unit. I actually had to buy some any spray to try to keep them at bay. I'm not sure where they keep these stored but to have an ant infestation is another disturbing find. I was beginning to wonder if I was going to need to get an exterminator. They are so disengaged that not a single person thanked us for purchasing from Gillette's Interstate RV while in person at any during our time on site. That only emphases the blatant disregard for any type of customer service. I honestly would say find someplace else to buy from, someplace that places the customer in high regard and provides superior customer service at the same time. I went in to the service dept in person on 8/3/ 2020 to schedule an appointment to have my 192 RBS repaired. I was issued a service appointment dated 9/28/2020. I was given a written estimate and was told that I would need to wait for the insurance check so they could order parts and proceed. I came in the next day 8/4/2020 with the insurance check and the service manager approved the purchase pf the parts. While I stood at the service counter the service rep looked up the parts and got on the phone to the manufacturer and as he was ordering the parts I left the shop . On my scheduled service date I brought in my camper and checked in with the service dept who looked up the appointment and instructed me to park the camper in the lot. The service rep and I chatted for a minute or two and I was informed that it was good that we ordered parts 7 weeks ago because it was taking up to 2 months to get them in. The repair was supposed to take two hours and I was asked if I wanted to wait. I said no I lived close so they said they would call me when it was finished. I called the next day to check on the status and was told the camper was going into the repair bay that afternoon. I was called two hours later and was told that parts had to be ordered and that they were sorry about the " mis communication". I let teh caller know that we had ordered parts 7 weeks ago and why would they have to be ordered again. I was told that they looked back in the parts crib and my new awning was not there and they were sorry. Now do I have to wait for 2 months while they get the parts in? Time will tell. read more

Sales experience left me with feeling optimistic that I had found a great dealer to work with. However, less than 2 months in we have now had 3 issues. Each time the service department has given me the runaround thinking a 2 week wait in the summer is acceptable. I'm now stuck in the middle of my vacation with no hot water. Their solution was for me to pack everything up and take it in or fix it myself. Both taking away from my family and limited vacation time. I was so excited about my new Travel trailer! Drove to Michigan to purchase and pick up. She is a beauty!! As it turns out this experience quickly went South. Multiple problems with the brand new unit...door would not close properly and latch, the refrigerator door was dented because they didn't close the bathroom door, (they showed me RV then brought it up front to hook up front to my truck) the roof leaked pretty bad all over the brand new floor, and after calling them about the fridge, I was told (by Amanda Schultz) I would be contacted the following Monday...after she asked me to send photos..again..that was on April 5th 2019...(I still have her email response) Never a peep from her or Gillette RV...(it's July 20th) I ended up taking it all the way to the factory in Indiana to take care of leak, door, etc. A real disappointment so say the least. I guess it's 1 and done for Gillette RV..P.S- the salesman was truly an experience unto himself. His attitude was unbelievable. I couldn't get him to give me the status of the RV that we special ordered, so I called the factory, and was told they had no order for us?! The factory then contacted Gillette RV. I was subsequently contacted by our Cracker Jack salesman Michael Tarravella and scalded for contacting Coachman?! On the Coachman/Forest River website listed they list a customer service number! I quote from his text: "Hey...Coachman contacted me stating you contacted them and we can't have customers bothering them there". Are you kidding me? I should have read more reviews about this place. I wish I did not have to give this dealership one star, unfortunately to post the review I had to give it one.... When we arrived at Gillette Interstate RV on May 29th to pick up our brand new unit the slide did not work properly. (It is the slide with the refrigerator.) Our Salesman Mike Taravella immediately stated that it was not their problem it was Jayco's since they were the manufacturer. Our salesman spent a total of three minutes with us before passing us along to someone else to assist us. The technicians worked all day on the unit replacing wiring harness and swapping out motors "twice" so a total of four motors, to no avail. Day one of owning our new Jayco Pinnacle was spend in the parking lot of the dealership sitting in my car for over 8 hours. Since we had rented a campground nearby for the night they let us take it because we were able to get the slide out an "inch" at a time. The technicians said it would be ok and they were ordering a new wiring harness and would replace it the following day. They assured us it was because they needed a single 45' wiring harness not the 35' & 15' put together. They assured us this was causing the problem. In the morning when we tried to put the slide in to bring the unit back so they could work on it, the slide would not budge. Gillette sent the techs out to the campsite where they worked on it until they could manually get the slide in and we were able to get it back to the dealer. When the new parts arrived unfortunately they were not the fix. We tried talking to the Gillette Interstate RV General manager Stuart Brabant but he never even came out to the service bay and we were told he was unavailable, we asked that he please call us as we just purchased a $70,000 unit from his dealership that was broken. He never did call. I took matters into my own hands and reached out to the manufacturer customer service department. My husband ended up speaking to Rodney who was helpful and sympathetic to our situation. He arranged for the Pinnacle 37MDQS to be brought back to the manufacturing facility and be repaired. Day two of owning our Jayco Pinnacle spent sitting in ther parking lot in my car. Finally we left the Pinnacle and went home as there was nothing more we could do there. About a week later arrangements were made for the unit to be delivered to us at the campground we rented for the summer. We are in the process of becoming full time RVers and our home is listed on the market for sale. Glad that we would have the fifth wheel to reside in the rest of the summer we excitedly met the transport guy at the campground. He placed the fifth wheel on the lot and asked us to sign and confirm he delivered it and that there was no exterior damage. We agreed and asked him to wait while we tried the "slide" to our utter disappointment it would not go out. The delivery guy was kind enough to hang out with us for an additional 2 hours as we contacted Jayco to see if he could bring it back. Finally Rodney at Jayco told us to let the delivery driver go as they did not authorize him to bring it back. So here we sit with a brand new unit that is broken.... I am so disheartened. I just want Jayco to take this one back and give us a new one that is not defective. read more

I have had my trailer there before for a roof repair and was satisfied with the service. I had a flat tire last night that damaged some metal underneath, that shredded the spare tire once installed making it untowable. I called Northside who picked it up and we dropped it off outside the gate, being that I was happy before they would be able to help me. I called at 8:30 this morning just as soon as they opened up and the service person said he would get ahold of the tractor guy and should be able to help me. He puts me on hold when another person came on the line, she did not give her name and stated there was nothing they could do, they were scheduled out till August.and that it needed to go somewhere else, suggesting a storage yard down the road. They did not look at it or even try to help me. I had to have it towed out to another place that looked at it and will have repaired next week. I was nothing but nice to any staff I spoke too but there was nothing done for me, not even a courtesy referral. read more

This was an absolute horrendous buying experience. I live in Texas and seen the model I wanted a 2014 Cruiser Rv 280-QBS advertised on eBay. It was the absolute lowest buy it now(BIN) price in the nation. I previously bought a 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 sight unseen with no problems whatsoever and that dealer accurately described the car on eBay...so I decided to take a chance on this. Gillette Rv wanted twice as much for shipping from what I found on uShip. I did my homework on all aspects of this transaction including model known issues. I told my sales lady, Kim Martin that their are known issues with the slide and motor, since I was interested in buying one used in Dallas, TX, and the owner warned of the slide as he said his motors were replaced under warranty. Kim did not want to run transaction thru ebay and that should have been a warning. I advised Kim that I found my shipper and paid non refundable money upfront. So I asked her if the service department could prep in advance and check for any issues such as the slide....she was nice and courteous and assured me that it will be ready. Guess what? The slide didn't work and they waited till a day before scheduled pick up to find this out...even after I specifically stated the slide could be defective! The dealer stated that now it must go to the factory to be repaired. They jacked around with my shipper and started to even falsely blame him that I should have never chose a company that won't work with customers! From this point on it was nothing but lies! I should have backed out at this point....I missed a funeral on my wife's side of the family when I should've met the shipper in Arkansas. My shipper felt bad and went the trailer to see if anything was missing, yeah my sway bars and tow hitch wasn't included either. I had to have another sales rep to charge one here locally so I could have ready to go for pickup. The plumbing to the toilet was disconnected and plugged up. No winterization was ever done. The floors had creaks in them and were uneven in the back. There was absolutely no prep work done on this trailer such as caulking and the interior was filthy for being brand new. Josh played games like he was giving me a walkthru over the phone and actually will text you with child like comments when you go to the general manager, Stuart. I was promised a concession and all I got was a $50 check. You get what you pay for...run far away from this dealership. Luckily my local dealership is taking care of all the problems under factory warranty. read more

Let me say it again, Thank you! What a wonderful time and experience. These folks are an amazing team. From Josh, my salesman, to Rich and Sandy at the Parts and Service window, to Jill and Cindy in the office, to Joe, Ben, Dave, Mark, Rodney, Justin, Steve and Al in the service bay. If I ever need to purchase another RV it will no doubt be from Josh at Gillette's Interstate RV. These people went out of their way to take care of me and make me feel at home for ...6 weeks. I had decided to drive from California to pick up my 5th wheel. It was the best price I could find. Josh was very easy to work with. Unfortunately on the way I was involved in a collision and my truck was totaled. By the time I arrived at the dealership, in my rental car, Josh had arranged where I could live in my 5th wheel (on site) while I was getting a new truck and some miscellaneous warranty items completed on the 5th wheel. Never once did I feel I was in their way. I knew very little to nothing about RV's when I arrived. Joe and his service team answered all my questions and gave me a few upgrade tips and recommendations to consider. I went with their recommendations and already they have paid off. Thank you Joe and Rich! Each of Joe's team brings a unique background to RV's, yet each one of them work together as a team to share and combine their experiences providing quality in completing repairs or installations. I watched them work on numerous RV's with an attention to detail. You will find Rich and Sandy at the Parts and Service window. Salesman Caleb quoted us a price of $22116.00 out the door when we specifically asked what we needed to request for financing through our credit union and he was well aware of our trade and it's payoff when he gave us this price. Secured the financing and had our old camper 1/2 unpacked when our credit union called and said the price sheet the dealership sent over was $10000.00 more than we were quoted. Extremely disappointed is an understatement when working with this dealership. Would NEVER recommend to anyone as they are misleading and do not stand behind their original quoted price. We have owned our Heartland Cyclone for one year. Our one year anniversary was last week. We have had the worst experience with the service department. False promises, down right lies, 100% lack of customer service. Thanks to Gillette RV we were unable to travel on our family camping trip because we did not have our RV that we were promised to have back in October when it was dropped off. Fingers are pointed at everyone else and never resolutions. Calls are NEVER returned and customers are meaningless to this company. Yet again we were promised for the 10th time that today was the day to pick up our unit, I had to call to confirm at 2 pm to be told sorry it is not ready. I have had enough. Whereas our sales rep, Kim is a gem, the service department is HORRIBLE. Back in 2011, we had our Sterling Wildcat for a week when we noticed hydraulic fluid leaking from a motorized leveler. Not only could they NOT send someone to make it right, my husband had to hire a substitute teacher so he could take the fifth wheel across town to Gillette. Upon arrival, he specifically asked the service manager(Dave at the time- how many have come and gone since then?) where to park. My husband parked it EXACTLY where he was told. Next day a call to my husband wad NOT that it eas done, but that itbwas hit by a delivery truck and damaged!! They caulked it up the wazoo, replaced the punctured hydraulic line( rumored that it- and several other units intentionally vandalized by a disgruntled employee), AND sent us on vacation!! WE. TOLD. EVERYONE. Long, long repair job. We INSISTED that it be done correctly, so, NO! It was not repaired by Gillette. They paid to have A&D fix it right. We have had several issues with Gillette. Stay away! Stay away no matter how good the price seems. Avoid Gillette! read more

Gillette's had my rv in for warranty work beginning December 8, 2016. I called at the end of January to find out how the work was coming and was told it would be a few more weeks, as they were waiting on parts. (nearly 2 months for parts is not acceptable) Here we are July 13, 2017 and my repairs are not finished. What has been completed has been pieced together as if we wouldn't notice. When we call we are given the run around and actually have been spoken to very condescendingly. Apparently there is no owner to speak to and the service manager and general manager like to speak to their customers on speaker phone (very unprofessional) because neither have any clue what is going on. I have pictures of their choppy job.I would NOT recommend going to this rv dealer...ever! We only went there for warranty work (our rv purchased in OH) because they were one of the few that work on Forest River. We have dealt with Haylett RV in Coldwater, MI and never had any problems with the service or parts department. With Gillette's, we have been lied to, cheated out of camping deposits and out of paychecks due to driving back and forth to get our rv. This is completely unacceptable! We are also unable to get service copies of repair work. They "don't allow it." Never again! read more

Just like every other review, the sales department and finance folks are good, price on new RVs is good, service department is pathetic. They had my new camper for three weeks in the middle of the summer and did not fix anything. Phone calls were not returned. The service writer had little if any mechanical knowledge. They installed a slide topper awning, and it looked like a grade schooler did the install. They hire summer help that has NO idea what they are doing--I watched this kid try to figure out why the brakes didn't work the day I took delivery, and he was completely lost. Kim from Gillette's RV did a great job helping us find our perfect camper. We were ordering it online so there was some trepidation, but she walked us through the whole process and the camper was everything she said it was and more. We made a trip of picking it up by driving all the way up to Lansing and swinging wide to two of the Great Lakes on the way. Great trip! Sales and service staff were both excellent. They walked us through all the bells and whistles, everyday use and proper maintenance on the camper. Thank you all so much! read more

One star .... our sales dude was very nice. We bought a used 5th wheel, as is, where is. I agreed, so long as everything was checked out and working when I hitched it up. Assured that this was the case, we took it home. There I discovered one wheel with ZERO bearings, they were ground to dust. The wheel would wiggle 3 inches on the axle. The race was heat welded to the spindle. Also the lead axle had dangling brake wire not connected. Afraid to tow it back to the lot ( 45 miles) and damned disgusted at being lied to, I decided to repair myself. I called to advise them of the problem, then returned there for parts to rebuild all four wheels. The remaining 3 bearings were almost dry, but not quite destroyed. I spent 7 hours very carefully grinding the burned bearing race off the axle. After repairs, I wrote a letter and requested they refund me $105.00 for the parts to just that one wheel. No reply. A bit later, a survey company wanted a review. Another letter. No reply. These people are crooks. Since then, I have deterred many folks from buying there, and have purchased a new 5th wheel and a new motorhome at other dealers. Avoid these people. read more

Bad service department! Gave me a quote for repair, I authorized work after going over the work required, provided that it would be ready for my wife's trip next week. They are a large operation and I understand they have a large volume. I saw that It was suppose to rain a few days during the week so I called them about protecting it from further damage. They said that I would have to protect it, the have no indoor storage, so I went and lashed down a tarp to keep water from entering in from running lights on side walls of roof where leak did damage. 1 week later I called too check on status of repair and they said that they were waiting on a call about a price for a new roof top. They said that they can't fix it! Which in my mind means they didn't wanna mess with it. Which is fine, it was a rather easy fix, 1 tube of caulk, a piece of plywood. They wanted to charge me $2500 for a new top for a $2000 popup that they originally quoted $350 repair. What sent me over the top was they wasted a week of my time and there's.I might add, that they did not even attempt the repair. In fact they made it worst! They had taken the tarp off looked at it, decided they didn't wanna mess with it and didn't take the 2 minutes lash the tarp back down. The damage was already done in that one spot , but by being so neglectful or indifferent they could of expanded the problem. Indifferent attitude! Sales was great. Bought a brand new 60k camper through them and Aaron was awesome to deal with. However SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!!!! Had our washer and dryer installed and got home to find dents in the front of both- was given a $170 credit ... whoop-de-doo. 3 weeks later had multiple issues and scheduled an apt to have it fixed. Left it there for 2 weeks. SANDY claimed that she couldn't order the parts because the manufacturer was closed for Christmas even though we had dropped it off over a week prior to Christmas. Never bothered to call and tell us that. She never returns calls. We needed to pick it up by a certain date so my husband and I could take it to his next job (he works on the pipeline) and decided we would have to deal with some of the issues at another time. We also asked them to fill our propane and ran the heat for only 2 hours and then ran out of propane. They obviously never filled it and when I called to ask her she said "You must not have the valves open" Really lady? I'm not an idiot. Her next excuse was "There must be a leak" Um nope because this is a brand new unit, not to mention once I went and filled the tanks they weren't empty in 2 hours. I am thoroughly displeased with their service department and will never ever go there again. read more
