In context, Gila River Arena is the 25th professional hockey arena that I have been to for a hockey game. So that is why I think it's kind of a 2nd rate venue. Not saying it's horrible, but compared to the other arenas I've visited, Gila River doesn't measure up. The area around the arena is nice, with lots of shops and restaurants so you can make an evening of it. But once you get into the arena, you can see it is a little run down and long in the tooth. The concourse around the arena is very narrow...kind of reminiscent of Nassau Coliseum, which is 30 years older than this place. Food options are fairly generic...nothing special. Seats are narrow (compared to a venue such as T-Mobile arena) so you feel kind of squeezed in and you can't avoid pressing your shoulders against your neighbor. The other thing that was disappointing was the lack of energy in the arena. The lights, sounds and graphics are rudimentary with little pizzazz. I saw the Coyotes play the Maple Leafs and there seemed to be more Leafs fans there. One section was almost entirely blue. It reminded me of when I saw a baseball game at Tropicana Field and it felt like a library. I'm not trying to hate on this place but it doesn't feel like you've been to a professional sporting event when you attend a game here. The people who run this should take a trip to Las Vegas or Edmonton and see how it's done.

Came here again for a Muse/Evanescence/Highly Suspect concert on 4/3/23. The arena has since been renamed Desert Diamond Arena and the Coyotes no longer play here. Oh well. Our experience was great, except for one small snag. No draft beer. Went to 5 concessions and all they had were the gigantic cans...which since we aren't power drinkers (sorry Baccus-Badgers) didn't really work. Now worries, took a big beer for the team. Concert venue gets high marks. Although the GA floor never did fill, which looked at bit odd and might have left performers wanting,,,more? Clean restrooms a plus. Well stocked and no overflowing trash cans like other venues. Security staff Q's efficient and parking was a BREEZE in and out. Venue holds 18,xxx and the crowd was definitely loud. Muse was epic, so we're the opening acts. Acoustics worked great from section 119 row N for a couple of old farts like us. Seats were comfortable for tired knees. Views were acceptable from our $150 seats. Ticket prices are out of hand but better with three artists on the bill. Cup holders in the back of seats in front of you a nice convenience. Do not bring a purse, satchel, or backpack. No go here. Pack light and charge your phone. Cell service was decent for most of the concert so we could stay social relevant. All in all a nice experience. Final note - book your parking online for $10 in Lot G for quickest ingress/egress pre/post event. Cheers! We will be back.

I have yet to see a concert here, but I've been to a few Coyotes games and I think it's a great arena. The parking cost is a little pricey, but there's more availability than at the Suns stadium and closer spots than at the nearby Cardinals stadium. Considering the reasonable price and available deals for Coyotes tickets, $25 for parking isn't awful. There's also cheaper options at the nearby hotel. I've been seated in different areas and there really aren't any bad seats. Even the bathrooms are decent. They have some good food and drink options, but nothing outstanding. I prefer their pretzels, but that's a personal bias. Like all stadiums, it's somewhat overpriced, especially for alcohol, but the event of a game makes a trip here worth it. Every game has mini-activities, and they put on special stuff for holidays like Halloween (with every moment having its own individual sponsor). Dress warm, especially if you're seated closer to the rink, and prepare for an all-around cool time.

I've had the pleasure of attending a Duran Duran concert, several Coyote hockey games and now PBR bull riding and can honestly say I've always enjoyed this venue. Located on the outskirts of WestGate it is surrounded by restaurants & bars ... The security check before you get in is well staffed and the lines move quickly.. the ushers in the different sections are always helpful in pointing you to your seats. The amenities are adequate for the large crowds, food options include Dunkin donuts, nachos, wetzel pretzels, lots of drink options including several cocktail bars (for us non-beer drinkers). Looking forward to my next visit..

    Gila River Arena Bag Policy
    Jessica D.

Current bag policy at Gila River Arena is a joke! Prior to any event, I diligently check the COVID policy and bag policy. The current bag policy includes measurements for PERMITTED clutch style bags. These measurements are pretty standard for most venues. I have a crossbody clutch that I take to all events with this same bag policy. Upon entering the metal detectors at Gila River, I was told my bag was not permitted. I pointed at their printed diaphragm of permitted bags and was told that my bag is prohibited because it has a strap. Lame! If straps are not permitted, that should be added to the bag policy information. Side note: My boot laces were longer than my purse strap. I'm sure there were people inside the venue with belts longer than my purse strap.

I was here back in November for a concert and I honestly thought it was such a great experience! I don't like AZ for many reasons but we had a great time. Everyone wore masks (thank god) but i think it's only cause the artist said to...and tbh whatever the king himself says, i will do! The floor was not crazy at all, and I can honestly say I had such a wonderful time. Staff was nice and helpful the entire time.

For Father's Day, I had gifted my husband tickets to go see the band, the killers at the Gila River Arena in Glendale. We arrived late to the concert but were still able to park at the hotel, Renaissance valet parking. You can also pre-pay for parking through your Ticketmaster account, but I wouldn't wait until last minute because we did that and it was already full. The valet at the Renaissance didn't take long at all and it was $30. It's a pretty easy arena to navigate. Straight forward. What I didn't know ahead of time is that you can only bring in a very small purse. My purse was small and I only had two items in it and they still made me check it out a locker for $10. However the locker service does go to veterans so that made me feel better. I was actually more upset about the extra step before and after the concert. I got my husband a $40 T-shirt and an eight dollar Gatorade because we weren't drinking alcohol, however alcohol is served and if you're getting a beer, you can go to the Heineken tent for draft beer or you can get a tall beer. They do that so you don't have to keep going back. They have a bar for cocktails and wine and seltzer as well as non alcoholic beverages. The ushers are very helpful. There were people sitting in our seats when we got there late and they helped us out. Overall, the venue is nothing too spectacular, a basic event venue. I would go return for another concert. It's located in the Westgate entertainment center which has tons of entertainment. Shopping, restaurants, Dave & Buster's, etc. You could make a day of it if you had the time before the concert. I would definitely go back to see another show. I know that they are in the process of renaming to Desert Diamond Arena. Look at the bag policy!

    Let's go Kings!
    Ron O.

Flew out for the King's game and surprisingly at least 50% or more in attendance (think only 3K allowed in) hailed from LA! Very grateful that AZ is allowing fans, unlike CA (recall is in the works for our illustrious Guvnah). Anyway, parking is convenient ($25 touchless), entry requires to be "Clear" via the app (which didn't work, so they had an optional QR scan that was FAST - why didn't they give me that in the first place?), masks must be worn (no gaiters, luckily the nice guy @ the gate had a box full of disposables), seats were great (section 113, row V), and game experience was FUN FUN FUN! As for distancing, seats were mostly paired with a two seat separation (zip tied closed), and an every other row configuration. Was actually nice not to be sardined in our seats! I'm liking some aspects of the Covid world we live in. Felt "normal," if only for the weekend...

    Elvia A.

First time at Gila River Arena & I want disappointed. Bathrooms, walkways, seating...everything nice and cleaned. I was on the top deck and will say that they had few vendors open, possibly due to Covid, but its alittle annoying that bottom deck has everything open and the top is slim pickens. None the less I enjoyed myself. Wear a fat jacket or sweater because it's obviously chilly inside, but if you forget one those $14 beers will have you nice & warm. Oh, I paid $15 for parking in Westgate, but if you're planning on having dinner after the game most places will validate your parking & take the $15 off your tab.

Stage should been 5-6 feet out more per the Ticketmaster site.
    Russell F.

Disappointed that the venue allowed the sale of obstructed view tickets without them being labeled obstructed view. But according to the staff you can see a piece of the stage so it's not obstructed.

Went to the Jurassic Quest event with the kids. This was a drive through dinosaur experience. You pay by car. you can also buy gift packs. We bought one. It had a poster, dinosaur, backpack, dinosaur egg with slime & baby dinosaur in it. During the drive, you have a link to play on your phone or through the car to listen to the narration. It's a kid friendly, fun story about the dinosaur quest through. We did have a hard time staying in the storyline of where we actually were on the drive, lol. But overall it was good. The kids really enjoyed it and that's what mattered to me

I have been here for lots of events including hockey games , concerts and a coUple other types. OveralL a great venue with plennty of food options in the area. The last event aattended was the coyotes game and it was packed which was nice to see. The atmosphere of the game was great they did alot of giveaways tO fans and the team won which was great. If you have never been to a game I definitely suggest coming out and seeing one aS it was such a fun thing to do while in the area, they also hAve a toon of great food options for the whole fAmily.

    Yotes!
    Taryn S.

As far as arenas go, this is a nice one. We go to a lot of hockey games and the occasional concert here, and this season (2019-2020) the arena has really stepped up the vending game with many more upscale options. There are fancy-ish, restaurant-style stands that are occupied by a single vendor like Grand Canyon Brewing and they serve only a few drink options, but they also have a single food option that you wouldn't expect to find at a game. For example, we saw a manned carved turkey station at Grand Canyon at the last game and pork belly tacos at Saint Archer at the one before. Plenty of food and drink options no matter what your preference is. The gear is priced typical of sports events (i.e., waaaay too high), but we expect that. One thing we especially love about Gila River is that if you park in the Westgate lots, you can bring your parking receipt in to any of the bars/restaurants and they take $15 off your bill! If you didn't know that, you're welcome LOL. It makes the 1 hour or so drive from the east valley a TAD more tolerable. Go Yotes!

Ask the Community - Gila River Arena

Can I bring in a purse?

Based on the latest bag policy small clutch bags are permitted. HOWEVER, it cannot have a strap.

How strict is the bag policy?

No bags or purses allowed for Hockey games, NHL rule. Not sure about other events.

Just curious, how are they checking for proof of vaccination or negative Covid tests? Will a screenshot or photo on phone suffice?

We were not checked. I had my certification if necessary but it was never asked for.

If I buy tickets directly from the ticket office, will it exclude all the Ticketmaster fees? I don't want to do the driving unless it saves me the cost of those fees.

I don't believe it will however I always get better seating at the box office.

Took awhile to get thru once we passed the security check-in and were filtering down a few levels to get to the floor. Of course there were a ton of people and we were packed like sardines but the flow was smooth and people were patient. Once we got to our seats, we got situated and Leon Thomas was already midway as the opening act. There was a slight mixup as one chair, the "30th" seat was missing on our row and we ended up moving down one seat to our left as the group with the seating issue kept trying to figure it out. Some numbers were missing on our seats but mine was visible and we could verify where we were seated. Luckily, our seat neighbors were nice people and accommodating since there seemed to be an extra seat that was empty. When we first arrived, there were some people who sat near our seats that weren't supposed to be there but you know there's always one of those so they moved. It was fun and festive. The woman in front of us with her daughter was recording the whole time as well as the lone guy next to my cousin who was doing the same and singing to EVERY SONG, LOL!! Thankfully we never had to use the bathroom as we went during dinner right before the concert. There were Porta-Pottys on the floor level inside as your bathroom. Also, you couldn't take an actual canned drink inside. Attendants had you put them in a cup unless they weren't paying attention and you had your drink in your see-thru backpack like the guy in front of me walking in. Speaking of, you need to look at bag dimensions and restrictions prior to going to the events. I looked ahead of time and brought a clear, plastic purse within the allowed guidelines/dimensions. Acoustics were great, there was never a glitch, 2 large screens on the left and right of the stage were great for folks seated far away and were a great visual for close ups even for us. Security was effective and checkpoints at the entrances went smoothly. It was a bit crazy getting out of the stadium but we got out. Getting out of the parking lot was another story. It was a long, log-jam and some vehicles were impatient and nearly hitting other vehicles just to get in the line to get out! I think the parking guides and traffic monitors could've done better in an orderly and streamlined fashion. In any case, we had fun and luckily people inside were nice and courteous. This was my 2nd concert at this stadium and am well-pleased with the ambiance. It was just the parking lot situation that needs to be more efficient. Hopefully they worked it out the next evening since Bruno played 2 nights here.

However, Trace McSorley lead Penn State right down the field for a DaeSean Hamilton back shoulder touchdown catch to put Penn State up 35-21! Penn State had another chance to put the game away with the ball in the red-zone, but McSorley had another unlucky interception, which lead to a long Myles Gaskin score. Washington was within one touchdown again. Penn State once again drove down the field up by one touchdown and had a chance to put the game away with a Tyler Davis field goal, but from 45 yards away, he pulled it. Luckily, Washington had no time outs and only 30 seconds to score. With 15 seconds left, Jake Browning converted a fourth-down, but a hook and later lead to a fumble recovered by Brandon Smith!!! The best part was when #9 (and moving up) Penn State got the W. 35-28 #WeAre

My husband's seat just kept reclining even after he stopped pushing the buttons. There was popcorn all over in between the cushion, and everything just appeared to be old and overused. For the price they charge to see a movie nowadays, I think these seats should be cleaned and checked regularly to ensure they work properly. Oh and the drink prices at the bar were so expensive! Definitely disappointing for sure.

While ordering food, there was one girl who was apologizing to others as it was her first day. Understandable. She took our order and was by herself so we waited for the hot food. She got backed up once the line got longer so cooking my food was put until later once the line died. When she goes to cook the food, she takes the hot dog out of the oven but drops it on the floor. Understandable as it was her first day. Then another guy comes in (the one that is trouble) by the name of Robert to help. They take their sweet time trying to get my food going and took another 5 minutes to put my food back in the oven. By then it's been 15 minutes already and I was getting impatient as the movie was starting already. Once the food finally gets to me, I asked to confirm if they gave me the right sauce. They didn't. I asked for ranch and bbq for my tenders but Robert puts in buffalo. I politely tell him that I wanted bbq and ranch. He then goes on to protect the girl after she admits getting it wrong that they're not allowed to serve 2 sauces unless they paid extra. Not knowing that information, he accuses me of stealing and gives me attitude about it, trying to protect her and antagonize me about it. I don't know, seemed like he's just trying to get in the girls pants and be an angel in front of her. I get offended and upset and also didn't back down. Once I finally get walking to my movie, he FOLLOWS me inside and when I confront him he just says "I work here and I'm going around", but why would you go into the same exact movie that I was going to if he wasn't trying to threaten me. Sus. I also don't back down and then he comes back trying to start a fight. Ruined the whole mood of the movie afterwards He must've known when my movie ended too because once I got out he was by the concession stand ready to stare me down with his other workers until I left. Robert, if you see this. Know that you are one shitty piece of work that will probably never get the girl you were being so defensive about. Do NOT interact with Robert. He will give u an attitude and has temper issues

Been a fan since the team moved here…read more The first 5 seasons, I would ride my bike over to Sun Devil Stadium and get tickets from scalpers if I didn't already secure some from friends. Then my wife and I bought our season tickets in 1993, and we have been enjoying gameday experiences ever since. Of course, the new stadium was a big change, and we have seen so many fun games at the new place. We enjoy the cooler weather to start the seasons but wish the roof was open more than it has been. The whole point of the roof was to provide us with a cool place to play in the hottest months when the seasons start. Then it is supposed to be open the rest of the time. Playing in the building with the roof closed when the outside weather is beautiful makes no sense. Football is generally supposed to be played outdoors, IMHO. Kind of stuffy to play it in an industrial building with a closed roof. We have met many new friends since the games shifted over to Glendale and still see many friends from the SDS days. There's just something about the gameday experience and supporting the Cards in person that a big screen TV at home cannot compete with. Love that they have added some better drink options over the years so we can drink some non-soda drinks, like lemonade and Vitamin Water. Great popcorn deals as well. See you at a game soon and best of luck on the 50/50 drawing.

The organization assigned me three different customer service representatives in one year but I could not rely on any of them to follow up and keep me updated about my purchase. After I had placed a deposit on tickets, I was told by the sales agent that I could have four ADA-compliant seats - but when I went back to select them, there were none. Rather than finding us a solution, they asked if my daughter could walk down stairs. This violates the accessibility guidelines. When I asked for a refund because of the misleading information provided to me, they told me that there were no exceptions to their no-refund policy. I was provided a workaround: my daughter would sit in a separate section (section 106) while the other three of us sat in different sections. However, for many of the games, that section was occupied by individuals who did not appear to have mobility issues, and the staff refused to do anything about it. Now we have asked for a refund for credit owed, and the last correspondence was 3/18. Save your money.

Unfortunately, on check-in no explanation about the activities was given so we were on our own trying to figure it out. Overall, the entertainment options are fun and we had a great time! The employees are hit or miss. Some are not very friendly or helpful and some are. Colton needs to be recognized because once he took over helping us with the attractions our experience went from 3 to 5 stars. He explained everything thoroughly to us, helped me choose which would be best for having motion sickness, and overall just made our experience very enjoyable by paying attention to small details. It seems they were operating on a skeleton crew this day. We sat and tried to order food and there was only one server for everyone. Needless to say, it took quite a while to be able to even place an order. The go-kart experience runs like a well oiled machine and was probably the smoothest experience we had out of everything there. Overall we had a ton of fun, but this place really needs to work on training their employees for better customer service and experience.

The area is huge with tons of arcade games. The racing was fun although it was hard to know when it was starting. The safety brief/orientation was a minimum. It was hard to hear the staff especially with our helmets on. Also did not like that they used our full government name for the leaderboard (especially bc this was sent via email)- would've liked the option for an alias or just first names. The VR game was very immersive (reminded me of Disney's VOID but scaled down). The racing simulator and 7D experience was just ok. Waiting for attractions, there would be either no staff to help (and you're waiting in line for nothing) or an over abundance of staff hanging around.
