Had tickets for Saturdays festivities and we had a lot of fun. I decided to not drive to the event but went with the free shuttle ride option instead. There were several shuttle stops throughout the area but I opted for the one at Talking Stick Fields. The shuttles were continuous and we did not have to wait. The AC was blasting and the buses were clean. We were dropped off at the entrance closest to the birds nest so we did not have to walk that far. We go our tickets scanned and walked right in as there was no line to get in. We decided to check out the Fan Shop first and whoa was this place busy. The line snaked its way around inside but it moved pretty quickly. We walked for a bit and decided to finally walk over to the Patriots Post. Here we had access to food, drinks, and bathrooms. We waited about 20 minutes to get in but we were given a nice cold beer while we waited in line for our wristbands. Everyone here was friendly and we had a great view of the 18th hole. We spent about 3 hours in total at this event and decided we had seen, eaten, and drank enough alcohol.. Did not have a hangover and that's definitely a win win for meeeeee. read more

Went to the Waste Management Phoenix Open with my colleagues who flew in this week and had an amazing time! We had a Cabana on the 18th but spent some time on the 16th as it was a bucket list item for some of the crew. The weather was perfect, the atmosphere was electric, and the experience was incredible. Definitely feel grateful to work with such talented and great human beings. The staff at the Open are amazing and attended to us constantly, even with how busy it was you'd never know it. Definitely top notch! If you haven't been to the Open, you must check it out, even if you're not into Golf, you'll have a great time! read more

It's my third year attending this great event since I moved here four years ago! Everything here is set up so well from the transportation of the shuttle buses that gets everyone to and from the parking lots to getting everyone seated in the stands. It's a well oiled machine. The vendors are set up to serve everyone in an expeditious manner and they're open early in the morning which makes it convenient for us early attendees. The weather was perfect all week. I love coming on Super Bowl Sunday because it's not as crowded. I was able to get in the Patriots Outpost fairly quick where they served Veterans free food and drinks. Beer and wine were limited to two free and anything beyond that you had to pay! Yeah, I love this event! See you in 2026! read more

Super fun event and glad I was able to check it out! My sister had access to the Patriots Post so that is where we ate, drank, and watched from hole 18. The grounds were well kept, clean, and trash free. There was a lot of police present which made it feel safe. I also saw a lot of vendors, both for drinks and food. Bought a cute hat from the fan shop for $40. I cant wait to be back again next year! read more

This was a great time with friends. I am not an avid golf fan or anything but there was plenty to do. I would say though that it is overpriced. These tickets normally go for over $600. We had greenskeeper tickets. The weather was perfect, it was not overcrowded but I hear it gets that way when the competition starts. The tickets came with 10 alcoholic drinks and unlimited food from the greenskeeper designated area. I did not use all my tickets for the day. There was not a lot of variety with the drinks, as the event was sponsored by Tito's and Coke. I was hoping for more variety of mixed drinks. Most people going to this were college aged. There were a few older folks. The food was a-ok. Brownies and ice cream, Buffalo fries, flatbread. These were like sides, not a meal. The white cheddar Mack and cheese reminded me more of clam chowder, I did not taste any cheese. There was not a big view where you could see much, but at the end of the day, you could walk to the end of the course to get a close up look and have the golfers sign your memorabilia. I went to the "box seats" and it wasn't much different from the rest of the place. It was the same drinks, only unlimited, and they served some basic sushi. The people who invited us to the box seats socialized amongst themselves, and there wasn't much to see. I would say though it was a fun event, the product was about average but not worth the hefty price. During planning next year, they should really look into making it a little more upscale. read more

Great surroundings for a golf course. It is well maintained and gorgeous. However, every year we think the food will improve but the catering company did a lousy job this time. Sandwiches were nothing special, Caesar salad was very ordinary and what to say for other meats that they had. The chicken tinga tacos were stinking, the pork and beef with mashed potatoes were less than tasty. Even the lodge food catered by Fairmont on 16th disappointed. The Lamb Gyros were leaking in oil and the pizza dough was super dry and crusty. The only savior was the coffee stand. There were no desserts offered after lunch. The bartenders were dressed up really skimpily and really this is not required. Even while exiting, cheap flyers were being distributed and this kind of spoils the fun for such a classy and sophisticated experience this should be. read more

I'll preface this review by saying that I'm not a golf fan. I've never played a real game of golf and I don't enjoy watching golf on TV because I find it boring. With that being said, the WM Phoenix Open is a big deal in Scottsdale. And I was lucky enough to score free suite tickets from my boss for a Wednesday at the event. I Ubered there with my mom. First off, after you get to the ride share drop off area, you walk a decent amount to get to the shuttles. From there, the shuttles will take you close to the entrance of the golf tournament. The shuttles come quickly but it does take a while to get there. Considering getting out of the Uber to actually walk into the entrance, it takes an hour. Not great. Once we were inside, we made our way to enjoy the suite life at the 18th hole. There was a complimentary open bar and some food. The food wasn't great but hey, it was free. Along with stadium style seating and some tables. The stadium style seating is close to the edge so you can view the action from an elevated perch. And based on the seats, you're shielded from the sun which is always important in Phoenix. It definitely beats general admission seating where you're sitting on grass or out in the sun. The Phoenix Open is known for its raucous crowds. Especially by the 16th hole. Since we weren't there and we also weren't there on a weekend, I didn't experience it myself. A bit delayed in my review, BUT...it's truly an awesome experience, the "Greatest show on Grass" is one to visit! The weather, atmosphere, crowd, even getting to and leave the venue were all excellent - kudos to the organizers and sponsors! My buddy's company had VIP access to the 16th hole...and what an experience I had during the day. Unlike the prim, proper, and sedate golf tournaments on television, the Waste Management Open is one for the people! Parking was relatively easy - drive to an off-site location, load up into a bus and dropped off by the golf course. There are many providing directions and assistance throughout the venue to guide you to the par-3 hole #16 where all the attention is focused for a reason. A shot missing the green results in boo and calls; a shot close to the pin and the crowd goes wild. Not as wild as a scene from "Happy Gilmore," but nonetheless, exciting with the energy of the crowd. The food + drinks are plentiful and the sun very hot - sunscreen and water to hydrate are necessary. Leaving the venue is just as easy as getting to the site - lots of buses (just remember your lot #) pick you up and drop you off. Having access to the VIP area and drinks and food are to your heart's content. As others may have mentioned, the food (and drinks) is best described as upscale pub/bar food. Being sponsored by Waste Management, the place was immaculate - no trash and the portapotties located throughout the golf course were clean and plentiful. I'm a casual golf fan and even I know that outside the Majors, this is one of the most popular golf tournaments. This was my second consecutive visit and I had a blast again! The interwebs reports that 600K-700K spectators attend for the week= 100K a day at average. Way more on tournament day I'm sure I've watched the 18th hole from the "Greenskeeper" area and I love it there. The food selection is plentiful and there's plenty of bar locations to keep the cocktails flowing. The vibe is a party and it's amazing to see the Professionals do their thing. Teeing off over water with overflowing golf stands to the left and right would freak me out. I guess that's why I'm not a pro golfer. lol Swag Tip: Definitely purchase some merch in their retail tent. The selection is extensive and all the major Golf Brands are represented well. All my WM Swag ends up being indirect openers when I sport it. I get asked frequently "Did you go to the tournament this year?" We purchased a skybox. We arrived on the last day. Lots of bars but they said "we don't have some options of drinks today because it's the last day and we don't want waste". But we laid full price to be there the last day why wouldn't we get the same drinks. Food is awful. Long lines. Worst part is there is no monitoring you suite do people just come in and sit and it's not their suite. Not sure why this happens. Also nothing left to purchase at the fan store. I'm a big sports fan, but not much into golf. I do enjoy coming to the Open every once in awhile. Let's call it like it is, it's for both golf fans and for rowdy party goers. The Phoenix Open takes place the same week as SuperBowl week and draws a huge crowd. It is one of the most popular events on the PGA Tour. The Phoenix Open started 90 years ago and is held at the TPC Scottsdale in Scottsdale. The 16th hole has a 16,000 + seat grandstand around it with lots of rowdy fans and was made famous by Tiger Wood's hole-in-one shot. In addition to a week of golf, there are concerts all week long at the nearby Birds Nest. I first attended The Phoenix Open back when Tiger Woods was in his prime and before he quit playing here. I don't go every year, but at times I will get some discounted or free tickets. I personally like going earlier in the week when it's more chill. I like to sit in the Member's or Greenskeeper club and eat and drink while enjoying the weather. I've been to the Bird's Nest once and snuck into the VIP section because the girl I was dating was good at working the bouncers. Overall the Open is a fun time but not really my scene. read more

My husband and I attended the Wednesday Pro Am event and it was a blast!!! We got there early and had no trouble parking In our assigned lot. It's about 30 minutes from the public lots taking the shuttle and then walking a short way to the event entrance. It was quick shuttles came every 5 minutes. Everything was so well kept and prepared for the event. Bathrooms were accessible and clean for portapottys. There were lots of food options. Our tickets provided us accesses to suite Eighteen, where there was delicious food and plenty to drink. We enjoyed the brisket and mashed potatoes and salad and chili bar. Overall a great event, I would love to go again next year!! read more

This was my first time experiencing the WMPO and as an Arizona newbie, it was nothing short of amazing. I was seated at the 18th hole at the 1937 Club and was able to see the winning putt by Scottie Scheffler!! What an amazing experience! All you can eat and drink was well worth the ticket price. The atmosphere was lively and everyone was so happy and festive. I loved how seamless the entry was and security was definitely on top of things. I met so many amazing people both newcomers and annual attendees! I will remember this experience forever! I'll definitely be returning next year hands down!!! read more

I was told this was "the people's event" to go to on the PGA Tour. I was prepared for it to not be as epic as was hyped up to me as prior years have been due to COVID. No line to get in, not crowded at all. The only line we stood in was to get a drink. What I was not prepared for was for the ONLY concessions that were opened to be at Hole 12 and as an added bonus they ran out of food and only had chips, and alcohol. Its 12:30. The other 2 concessions we went to had no internet so they could not take our cards and would not accept cash. The best they could do was age check us and give us a 21+ drinking wristband. Masks are required everywhere unless you are actively eating or drinking. Every person I saw including staff and police were wearing masks over their noses and mouths. You have to pay extra to get into the 16th Hole area this year, its not a general admission like past years and its a pre-order wrist band thing. My friend paid $150 per ticket for General Admission on our Thursday tickets. I overheard a worker saying there's only 5000 spectators here today. Crazy to imagine this in normal times when they ran out of food with such low attendance, it's the first day and it's only noon. My friend said there are usually tents set up and this event is known as the "Biggest Party on Grass" but its most definitely not that today. The course is of course immaculate. The grounds were very clean. Players are prohibited from signing autographs this year due to COVID. Hand sanitizer in the port-a-potties 2:36pm update..17th hole still has no food and directed us to go down across the water... Found food at 17/18, on the inside of the water....chicken caesar wrap with invisible chicken...wait...1 piece of chicken... Needless to say I'm pretty disappointed unfortunately. read more

WMPO Known for the infamous 16th hole where 20k people will either cheer you on for hitting on the green or give you the razzies for not landing your shot on the green. I have had the opportunity to volunteer for Shotlink for the past 5 years, Trackman for one year, volunteer to help with security for 2 years and photograph the WM Phoenix Open for 2 years with Fox Sports AZ, with under the ropes media credentials. Have to say the the Wednesday Pro Am is probably the best day to photograph the event with all the festivities and relaxed fun everyone enjoys. If you are a spectator, you have to get a Thunder Dog only at the Phoenix Thunderbirds tent located by the driving range and the 2nd hole green. If you don't have a corporate skybox or tent pass, the Saturday masses of 220k+ will be a challenge to get around from the 16th hole to the 18th hole. If you have a media pass, then you can walk with the golfers and breeze by the gridlock. read more

This is a once-in-a-lifetime event or an every-year tradition. For me, it was a one and done, unless I get free tickets again and a reserved parking spot and it's a beautiful day (which is usually the case in Phoenix during the month of January). We went on Friday, arriving about 10 and leaving about 6 or so. Our reserved parking spot meant that we took a shuttle into the event and parking was relatively easy, except upon our return. Finding the car was really hard at the end of the evening, so word of advice--find some landmark, or rather cactus, to help you find the car. I'd advise using Lyft or Uber but those lines were especially long. Some of the people, however, in those lines really shouldn't have been driving anyway. Also, the lines for the shuttle at the end of the evening were incredibly long, so we, along with several others, walked back. Yes, a bit of a walk (I had over 15,000 steps that day, and we'd planted ourselves at Hole 4 for most of the afternoon in the shade). If you want wild and crazy, go to Hole 16 (or was that 17?). If you want to watch in peace and quiet, go to Hole 4. We followed a golfer that my hubby liked for a while and then found Hole 4 and shade and thought this will do nicely until the sun started to dip and in the desert, this means cold. About that, I started the day with several layers, went by the Mayo Clinic booth for sunscreen and a clear give-away bag that I carried the rest of the day with my layers tugged in until I needed those layers again. Oh, did I mention the rules about the size of your purse? To carry one in, it has to be ridiculously small, but you can carry in a clear bag based on the required dimensions. Don't bother. It's easier going through the metal detectors with nothing but your cell phone. The crowds on Friday were slightly less than on Saturday or so I heard. I cannot imagine what that was like, as on Friday I could barely move through the crowds. And going to the bathroom during the day was an experience in itself. We talked with people who come every year and absolutely love this type of event. For me, it was a unique experience with powerful memories. read more

We have gone the past 4 years to the WMO. We have purchased Member Club tickets. That gives you 4 passes all week and a basic parking pass to a lot a "smidge" closer to the event drop off point but not by much. The Member's club serves a lite lunch and then "snacks" the rest of the day. Free water's, soda's, wine and beer for the price. This year, expecting to do the same purchase during the 2nd week of September, (since all the online WMO site said TICKETS COMING SOON I thought I was in good shape. NOPE! They actually were SOLD out mid summer!! Insider scoop from a Thunderbird told us that Corporate Sponsors were offered them in BULK since CS venues sold out by JUNE! We ended up buying Greenskeeper $5500 for 4 passes and Valet parking..and if I were 20 or 30 or a even a young 40 something and didn't care about seeing one golf swing the entire tournament, but basically hang out in Whiskey a Go Go swilling them back it would have been wonderful. No seating except for 100 green Adirondack plastic Home Depot Chairs (soon broken) and the rest is SRO or OYA (on your ass). Cabana's are extra and oh those stairs, those are for Scorekeepers and thousands more!! The trailer toilets were great the first 3 days (you got to sit down) then they were a indoor lake of #1 and #2 logs! No cleaning during the day! Or the next morning! The food was terrible! Member's Club has 4 locations on the course, this only one. The Member's club has a FULL healthy lunch with choices the Greenskeeper same choices everyday in a grab and go set up in a paper 3x5 tray. If you are a boozer this is your place. If you want to go deaf this is your place with blaring head banging booty music, if you don't no crap about golf but want to people watch and try out pick up lines, this is your place. If you have $5500 to burn or split between 4 people this is your place. Oh and the Valet privilege's..GONE after the first day when the rains came and we were parking with every one else and taking the school bus, sometimes the nice busses. No compensation, no refunds, but I do feel for the GA ticket holders....because the Thunderbirds...you've gone down hill in managing this event, and PGA should take it away from you. We go to other PGA events and they are 180 from this, sanitary, civilized and way CHEAPER! Shame on YOU! no photos attached...just imagine. read more

It's always a great time yet I think it gets better every year! Pro Tip especially for the ladies. Although its a great place to look your best, wear comfortable shoes. This is no place for heals. Soft grass, slopes, concrete paths, Taped up carpet and metal stairs are everywhere! The Grandstands and suites are beautiful and if you have never been its unlike anything you have ever seen. Think Stadium meets Night club meets a Gorgeous Desert Golf Course. Loud music, bars and some great food abound, and there is something different around every corner. The Famous 16th hole proved to be not just fun but almost comical, boy some people think they can say or yell any thing. I imagine the golfers are somewhat prepared for this as they enter what is known as the luge. Its the shortest hole and completely surrounded by massive grand stands that can hold almost 20,000 spectators. 16 is where the loudest and craziest party is. I found the grounds themselves to be in excellent condition and the grass was perfect, everywhere. The Restroom situation was also excellent and massively exceeded my expectations as the port o potty's where nicely tucked away yet seemingly every where, in great condition, and with never a line all day long. Security was civil and plenty of it, getting into the venue was super easy . Once again my expectations shattered by the amazingly professional team from Pro Em. Every big city has their winter-is- mostly- over, let's party outdoors event. For Chicago, it's St. Patrick's Day and the parade. For New Orleans, it's Mardi Gras. As for us in the Valley of the Sun, The Phoenix Open PGA Tournament is that event. It falls every year on Superbowl weekend in the beginning of February. The weather is usually sunny and in the mid eighties, however there have been a few years with morning frost delayed starts and rain. This PGA Tournament is world famous for it's PGA attendance numbers and party atmosphere. I have met countless golf fans at this tournament that say that the Masters and the Phoenix Open are the two ultimate PGA Tournaments to attend. They are both very different tournaments. While the Masters is known for a quiet "hush" atmosphere and caddy's wearing white jumpsuits, the Phoenix Open is known for a loud party atmosphere and the audience doing the wave in the gladiator style arena of the 16th hole. I am not a fan of the growing price to attend the tournament that really skyrocketed the limited attendance covid 2021 year. However, I usually look for tickets on resale apps from people who bought tickets in bulk. This year I donated blood and got a free one day ticket. If you're attending this tournament to watch golf, I suggest going out to the holes farthest from the entrance and corporate tents. The 16th hole is a long wait to get into, so I usually find myself people watching and enjoying golf on the hill near the 10th green just east of the 16th hole. read more

I attended my first Phoenix Open this year, and now I know why they call it "the greatest show on grass!" The WMPO is a big deal! I believe it brings in the most tourism of the year, and it's for a good cause too. Kudos to those Thunderbirds for all of the work that goes into making it happen... and of course to all of the sponsors and partners as well. I went on a Wednesday which was just my speed... I hear it gets pretty crazy later in the week and continues through the weekend! Whether you attend for the golf, the partying, or the people-watching, (or all of the above), you are on for a treat! The TPC is beautiful, as is our AZ weather, so there's not much to complain about when you're in such a beautiful setting with beautiful people. I hear that GA admission and parking can be a challenge but thanks to Uber and some secret advice from a Thunderbird, we didn't have to deal with that... I look forward to returning again and perhaps even experiencing the bird's nest at some point! Good times! read more

For years now I've been turning down tickets to this event because I'm not a golfer .. well I have been missing out!! This event is more then just golf.. it's people watching at its finest, food, drinks, networking, beautiful weather and an amazing green golf course & venue. If you have tickets and parking passes it makes life easier .. directions are on the back of the pass .. there's an air conditioned bus that shuttles you to the front gates.. security will not let you on the bus if your purse is bigger then 6"x6" I had tickets to the Cove / 17.. wow what a nice tent.. food, drinks, flowers, beautiful bartenders & servers.. funny guys at the entrance .. plenty of seating and what a view!! We most definitely enjoyed our afternoon at the golf course and I will be back next year to enjoy some of the concerts I've also been missing out on!! Uber home if you need to .. police and dui checks are everywhere.. not worth it to drink & drive in Arizona.. we don't play!! read more

Been coming here for 20 years now! It had exploded into the largest crowds in golf on the planet! In recent years I come during the practice rounds. They are free to get in and there's no lines for food, drinks etc. (Not nearly rich enough to drink (actually get drunk) here...I'm just sayin') beer is typically 9 to 10$ BUT at the concession store near hole 1 there's 24oz cans for $13! That's the best deal around. I eat at zinburger every year. They have egg sandwich breakfast until 10am then burgers etc after that. Genuine Heinz pumps with ketchup, mustard, mayo, ranch and BBQ sauce are all available to the left of the counter. Always friendly service and a great many registers open at once to make whatever line you see go very quickly. They have been a vendor here now for many years. Best food quality you'll find here! They have beer and wine as well. Lastly, no where to eat your food? Can't find a table? Just walk towards 10,1 or 18 and just picnic on the grass! Problem solved. Love the Waste Management golf tournament even though the tournament name isn't sexy it's pretty sexy once you get in. This review is for the 16th hole sky box. Been going to the 16th sky box off and on for years. I'd suggest getting there early to beat the crowds. It's fun getting there to take your pictures and get situated. There's 3 levels and the bottom level near the putting green is general admission and you have to get there early to get a seat. I've heard people line up hours before the tournament opens and run to get a bleacher seat. The 2 levels of the skybox uses a wristband system. You scan your band to get in and out of the skybox. You are supposed to get 10 drinks max but I think many people drink much more. Throughout the years the food has gotten really bad. No gluten free options or food labels. Sandwiches, cheap pasta , cheap carbs and dried out chicken options. The food used to be so good but I think now it's upgraded stadium food. Maybe next year I'll try another skybox :-) read more

It was sold out. There's 3 different locations you can get picked up & dropped off. Oh my! My first professional golf outing and it was something! LOL! There were so many people. The lines for the bathroom, concessions, and shopping were crazy. They could have organized a little better. We just had general admission tickets, so I'm glad they had bleachers out for us common folk. LOL! But it was a hike to get food and beer/water. It would have been nice to have more vendors like they do at other sporting events - selling at the bleachers. Or even lining up behind the bleachers. I get that it's a golf tournament, but it is the "People's Golf Tournament" right? The grounds were beautiful and the energy was fun. There were a lot of drunk people that I'm sure were just there for the party and didn't really follow the sport, but that's ok. That's kind of what this tournament is. I wish I could give WMPO a million stars lmao!!!!!!! How could I not give 5 stars right? I'm a family that golfs on the regular. We came Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Monday and Tuesday are ford family days, which pretty much is FREE for families!!! It's everyone and the amateurs doing practice runs of the course. Tuesday is the day you really want to go all the players will autograph what you need.(as pictured before by our top favorite golfers) Tuesday was fun a little hint on those days come early hang out at the putting green, the driving range and hole 9. Prime locations for anyone to get an autograph! Ok so Thursday the big day no joke it's day one of all the action. Wednesday was the celebrity day. Thursday is the craziest day and we'll the best it's round 1. It starts early so get all the coffee and Red Bull your body can deal with. We ended up walking the back 9 then hanging out in the members only area(we won those on insta). Spent 2 hours on the hill at hole 9. Had a great lunch then heading to hole 1 to watch some more amazing golfers. By 3 we needed up hanging out at hole 18 letting the kids run around. We left by 4pm our kids were tired and well my feet hurt so bad. Anyway if you like golf or not it's honestly something everyone should spend a day doing! read more

It gets worse every year! What a disappointment. Every year now it's harder to get around the course as a fan due to more and more rope lines. Literally ZERO Arizona beers for the public. They've created a new bottleneck at the 16th green by adding grandstands on the 10th green. The "craft beer oasis" is anything but! A couple Hop Valley beers to sample but can only sample a couple at Little Miss BBQ. Literally all other samples are big name beers, seltzers, hard lemonade etc. False advertising to call this a "Craft beer oasis." Literally every other beverage vendor on the course has the same generic National beers and seltzers. No variety. What a missed opportunity to showcase Arizona beers to hundreds of thousands of visitors from all around the world. A money grab by WM Open execs. A slap in the face to Arizona and golf fans in general. read more

FABULOUS all around!!! Love this tournament and everything about it!! Food, golf, shopping, bathrooms, activities, all are first rate!

If your gonna let everybody in for free at least open some places up to eat and drink. Most of the stuff in the fan zone was closed and the Tilted Kilt bar wasn't even built yet as of Tuesday. 1. The parking signs were entirely wrong as public parking signs led you to Westworld. The parking is actually at 101 and Hayden. Several dozen cars were wondering where to go as we gathered where the signs led us....a bunch of morons were involved in that setup. 2. Once on the bus, pretty easy to arrive at venue. The merchandise zone was small, the fan zone was small and actually everything seemed small especially when 100,000 people would be arriving the next day and no camera use during tournament! 3. Oh wait, the only thing operating on Tuesday involved skyboxes, corporate people and restricted access places, nothing any normal fan would purchase. 3. It was good to see the course and layout and the 16th hole is incredible, but you go here to drink and not much else and in this case, drinking for the masses is not fun, only drinking in a skybox makes sense at this event. Just not enough to do unless you really want to watch golf (really?) or wear funny pants. If your not in the golf crowd, check this place out for free and get out of dodge and if you attend I hope you enjoy all those DUI checkpoints on the way home. read more

This event socks, at least on Saturday in'24. The routes around the course are not marked, it's oversold and overcrowded, to the point of being dangerous. The drunks and rude, thoughtless people make it a mess. Stay home, buy a hat from Imperial, and souvenirs online, and let the Thunderbirds go suck sh*t. Hope the PGA Tour drops this from the schedule. Yes, Waste Management Phoenix Open is a sh*tshow. read more

What an experience! Loads of people enjoying golf and booze. A real Arizona party that lasts almost a week. You can enjoy this golf tournament in a number of different ways and your experience will vary accordingly. First off, you can always rent a box and pays gazillions of dollars to sit and watch the players from one position on the course. You will be treated well and you won't have to mingle with the masses. Or you can stand in line and wait your turn to squeeze into the public viewing area on hole 16 and be surrounded by fans who steadily get more inebriated and you feel more like you are at the world series or the super bowl. Or you can spend a few minutes working your way to the less-crowded parts of the course and sit in the shade of a mesquite tree and watch the golfers glide by in relative peace. Whatever your choice, the most challenging aspect of this event, is parking your car and getting to the entrance. If you are a die-hard golf fan, you will either love or hate this event, but you should at least experience it once and if you just want to watch golf, come to the practice rounds with fewer fans, less hype and a more authentic golf watching event. read more

This is an absolutely insane experience. I didn't say golf tournament on purpose. Over the last 5-7 years it has EXPLODED into quite the experience. Each year breaks new attendance records, close to 200-220K+ people on Friday and Saturday. Wednesday is the Pro-Am day and Thursday begins the actually Open. Saturday is notorious for the craziest party drunk day for all ages (21+ of course). They have upped General Admission tickets on F/Sat to $50 and VIP tickets on the resale (Craigslist) can be upwards of $350 or more last I heard. To be gifted a VIP tent ticket is the ultimate blessing, 10 drink tickets, secluded area, seating, shade, free food and private trailer bathrooms - oh and no long lines! If you actually want to watch golfers golf, go early, go during the week or even better on Sunday. The Open always scheduled for the same weekend as Super Bowl so Sunday is usually extremely quiet. read more
