Patio - enjoying the view!

Service and food is awesome! Bar staff is tops! Had appetizers and they were the best!

I will need to come back and play during peak season. Many golf courses are having a hard time with their grass during this summer. Papago is absolutely one of them. I don't want to say this was the worse condition course I have ever been to. But It's very close. The first cut from the Green are being patched in on most of the holes. Makes it a difficult day. Their GPS on their carts is very difficult to figure out where and where not to drive. You will spend a good portion of your round backing up. Besides trying to avoid hitting some homeless people off of hole #5. It was a very adventurous day.

Great course. Bag crew and starter very helpful. Tee boxes, fairways great. The greens though. The 2nd most difficult greens I ever played (PGA West- Stadium course being #1). Just demoralizing and humbling. I got GIR several times only to 3-4 putt. That's golf.

Fun and challenging. Bring a desert recovery club. Beautiful because it's not just backdrop of mountains or boulders, they are there!

Andy threw (literally) their receipt and credit card at them. It's just unacceptable, especially first thing in the morning prior to tee off. It's Masters Week! That must explain why I have been getting the chance to play a bunch of golf! I…read moregot lucky with a bunch of invitations to play some great places this week! When a friend (not just a buddy...anybody that that invites me to play at a place like this is someone that you would seriously entertain donating a kidney to) asks you come out a play this track, I only have one word for you...go. If you have to clear your schedule, fly home from a business meeting, tell the kids that daddy just can't be there for the piano recital or t-ball game, just do it. Why? Are these courses the best in the world? Well, I would not go that far. There are a number of courses around the country (and even in Arizona) that I think well of...but this place is definitely in the top five. Whisper Rock has two beautiful desert courses. The Fazio 18 is as nice a desert track as you will find. The sight lines are superb, every hole lays out nicely in front of you, and you will need to think about every shot (including your putts...remember where Phoenix is, and remember that these greens are generally pretty close to tour speed). There aren't houses surrounding the course, and it does feel like a walk in the park (OK, a desert park, but you get the idea). The caddies are great...uniformly impressive in their knowledge of the game, their knowledge of the course and their affability during the round...they all pass the beer test (would you want to spend a cross country flight having a beer with these guys as your seatmate? Yes=pass;no=fail). The entire staff is superb and at the same time welcoming and friendly. There is none of the country club crap that you occasionally find at some clubs (I was member at Blackhawk in Danville, CA for many years, because I lived there...but I always disliked the snooty atmosphere...it was one of the big reasons that I didn't join a club when we moved to AZ). Whisper Rock is a GOLF club, not a country club and everything revolves around that fact. The practice area is, frankly, the best I have ever seen! It's difficult to imagine the golf shot that you can't practice here. The facilities and surroundings are beautiful...pleasant and comfortable, but elegant nevertheless. A number of tour pros and TV golf personalities are members at Whisper Rock and I see why. Terrific courses and practice facilities, comfortable surroundings, real camaraderie and friendliness from everybody. What great week for golf!

We then grabbed our golf balls and clubs and headed on out. Once outside, we stood in line for the black course. Both the red and black courses had long lines but we opted for the black. We waited about 15 minutes to finally be able to start. It was really busy so we moved slow as there was one big group ahead of us. There was also a big ol line behind us. We played all 18 holes and it took close to 3 hours to complete. We had lots of fun though and the music was lit. The course itself was challenging and fun. It was a nice night out as it was not hot and they had the fans going on at full blast. This place was great! Will be back! They have military and senior discounts available!

Upon checking in and paying, there is an assortment of putters and color-coded golf balls so you know whose ball is whose. Our party of six (max players in a group) played our way through the black 18-hole course in about an hour. Tiger Woods designed this course with two 18-hole courses, red and black (his Sunday colors) and it's a surprisingly challenging play. The green carpet is dense and plush, not like the Astroturf of many similar courses. The "sand traps" are areas of white carpet that is slightly shaggier than the green. Food and beverages are available on the course with a QR code to scan and order, there is a nice outdoor spot where we sat and ordered lunch. Next to us was a play area with ping-pong and bags, and a fenced toddler play yard. Our lunch was good and I highly recommend checking it out if you're in Scottsdale!

It was so busy around noon, but it was also Good Friday so a lot of people didn't have work or school. Fortunately, we were able to book a tee time. We chose 18-holes which was two 9-hole games, on different courses. Game one was on the first level. It was actually so much fun. I loved the setup - you can see your group's info on the TV screen each time you move to the next hole. Your golf balls are tracked, so it can keep score for you. Our second game was upstairs where there was a big party finishing up ahead of us. That did slow things down a bit, but understandably. Our favorite part of each round was trivia, where you aim the golf ball into either the true or false slot to answer the question on the TV screen. Service was great - both guys that checked us in for each game were very helpful. Also, someone ahead of us had an issue with their golf ball not registering any movements, but a staff member quickly replaced it with a new ball. The staff member who oversees each course can also put in drink orders for you. That's convenient, but we didn't order anything. The game moves pretty quickly anyway. Lastly, they have a weekday offer where you buy one 9-hole game and get 50% off a second game. We would definitely come here again!

We got lucky and walked in when it was still chill, but halfway through our game it started filling up fast and felt pretty packed. There are two levels, and you get to pick which side/station you play on, so choose wisely! Service was a little hit or miss--the person who checked us in was super sweet, but when we went to grab our ball and putter, the associate seemed rushed and didn't really explain things. Thankfully we'd been before, so we already knew what to do. Pro tip: go for the unlimited play--it's the best deal. The only downside is that one person has to pay for the whole group instead of everyone paying separately (unless I totally missed something). They've also got food and drinks if you wanna snack or sip while you play. Overall, such a fun experience and perfect for both adults and kids!
