Course is decent, definitely challenging but overall the holes weren't really memorable. I don't have anything too bad to say about the course itself though my problems are more with the staff and an overzealous Marshall on the front 9. Guy can't read the room and felt the need to butt in on us twice to keep it moving when noboby was even pushing us from behind. If we've got over a hole in front of the group behind us, there isn't anything wrong with our pace. Guy takes his job too seriously and that just leaves a bad taste in your mouth when its unnecessary. Of course the Pro defended him, makes no sense to do that, our group is paying good money and not holding anyone up, just stupid. This was my first time playing Longbow. Starting with the positives, the golf staff was uniformly the best staff I've come across. Super friendly and helpful. 5 stars for sure. The course itself was in very good shape. We found that it plays harder than its yardage. There are sand traps galore and most are very strategically placed. The greens rolled well and were reasonably tough and fast. However, here's why I rated it only 3 stars. It sit right next to Falcon Field. In talking to the ranger, we found that it's a training field plus has lots of small plane enthusiasts flying out of it. We had a mid-morning tee time and for the entire front nine, we could hardly talk to one another from the noise of low flying planes. Seriously! It quieted down some in the afternoon, but only in relative terms. To say it was difficult to concentrate is an understatement. The noise left us shaking our heads. read more

Golf I took my brother here this morning for his 40th birthday because I felt it looked like a much nicer course than our typical courses. Hole 5, there was a gentleman (looked very high) who turned the green sprinklers on as we were teeing off, and then proceeded to put his toolbox ON the fringe right at pin high, as we were approaching the green. Literally within wedge range for 2 of us, while one was on the green to putt. I picked my ball up then because he was clueless to the golfers and was 3 yards from the pin.  With numerous tee boxes closed, typically I'd care less given the heat, but to add to it, we had grounds members leaving their mower on the white tee box and just chatting off to the cart path while we were trying to play.  My brother who never complains and is a member of a club in LA, went in and talked to Jeffrey Anti who couldn't care less. Gave a business card and said let me know next time you come.  I'm sorry but for a $90 summer rate, and for a Troon course, we won't be back so there is no reason to contact Jeffrey.  The greens are also apparently 2.5 weeks after being aerated and they are still not even close to being healed and they look and play like they were done this morning. I couldn't decide if this should be a three star or a four star review. Even though I did three, it's more like a three in a half. I have heard some bad things about the condition of this course. Luckily we have recently had a lot of rain, so the course is in decent shape as of now. Surprisingly there are still some bare areas throughout the course. So that does tell just how bad is was. Bunkers are not sand, just dirt. With the cons being said. I had a real good time today. Pace of play was 3-1/2 hours. Everyone was very courteous, and helpful. The layout is great and fun. Plenty of bunkers to avoid. Had a great time and Wouldn't mind coming back. read more

Longbow is an awesome course that unfortunately falls victim to squeezing in as many players as possible to ensure margins are met at the expense of players. We arrived at the first tee and the group before us was waiting to tee off, before we could even get on the box the next group pulls up behind us. 12 golfers all at the same box... how is that enjoyable? From start to finish this course is AWESOME!!! A MUST PLAY for visitors to the Phoenix area!!! Tee boxes were green, fairways cut like like greens, the greens would hold an approach shot and greens rolled immaculately... We liked it so much we "Re-played" it right after The ONLY two knocks are: The replay rate is only half the price of the regular green fees. They also don't give you the key to your cart until 5 minutes before your tee time. read more

I've played this course a handful of times and it's been decent. However, we played it yesterday and I was reminded of why I've only played it a few times. June 1st and they still are charging $60 at 1:30. Ok, but there is no outside service, I guess those guys make enough hourly to not care about tips. I bought a small bag of balls and was told there are 20 per bag, there were 17, not a big deal but, so this stuff adds up. Went to the shed to get the bag and was told they'd bring the cart keys to me a couple minutes before the tee time, I have a cart bag which is fairly heavy so I'm not going to carry it to the range. I already had to carry it to the cart. Also, I didn't feel comfortable leaving my phone and wallet at the cart while I was on the range. I just think it's a cheesy way to run things. Then, the fairways are almost completely brown. Most courses aren't that brown at the end of the summer. The guys in the pro shop are nice as well as the bartenders. The cart girl was nice also. This felt like a run down muni course, not a Troon course. I'm just hoping they are having irrigation issues that will be fixed soon and someone changes the outside service and driving range policy. read more

Visited the restaurant for lunch, had the angus burger and potato salad. Very pleasant lunch eating delicious food and enjoying the golf course view with the mountains in the back. Service was excellent. They have free popcorn made fresh! TVs on the wall showing golf. Prices are very reasonable. read more

We love Longbow!!! The course is in incredible shape (minus a few tee boxes that are currently under renovation). The course is kept with meticulous care including pristine greens with exceptional speed consistency on all holes. Beautiful and thoughtfully placed sand bunkers dot the landscape as an imposing and intimidating challenge for any level golfer. However, what puts this golf course in a league of its own are the people who work there - from your first experience of dropping off your clubs at the curb, guests are treated with respect, care and value that guests rarely see outside of the country club experience. The clubhouse is organized well and is staffed by friendly professionals who value starting your golf match as positively as possible and within the pre-arranged tee-time. Last but not least - food and drink service along the course and afterward at the Longbow Grill is second to none. The food is fresh, delicious, reasonably priced and served in the most friendly and timely manner. We love the servers who remember our names now and our favorite menu choices. There is nothing like finishing a round of golf and being met at the grill with smiles and cold, refreshing drinks in hand. We love you, Longbow. This would be a 2.5 star rating if 1/2 stars were possible. Played Longbow on the final day of a 7-day golf trip. We had a 12:20 flight out of Sky Harbor and requested the first tee time of the day, which was 0700. We arrived early and asked if we (my brother and I) could go out as a twosome at 0650 (10 mins early), so that we could fly through the course and be headed towards the airport by 1000. We honestly thought there was NO way they'd say "no". But they did. We were stunned. We were told that we were with another twosome at 0700 and couldn't go out earlier than that. It made no sense whatsoever (because 0700 was the first time of the day) and it really put a bad taste in our mouths - I mean, there was no logical reason whatsoever not to allow a twosome out ten measly minutes early to accommodate a flight later that day. The staff was rude and curt. The course was a fun layout and it was in fairly good shape. The only negative I can say about the playing experience was the horde (literally one after the other, every 20 seconds) of overhead airplanes the entire front nine - crazy loud. We come out to Arizona every summer for a week to play golf and we love to try new courses and add them to our permanent rotation if they're good enough. Sadly, although Longbow was a fun track, the bad karma and unaccommodating nature of the staff means that we won't be returning to Longbow. There are too many other golf courses in the area that are just as nice and their staff treats its players much better. *update (to the comment below) Bob, thanks for the reply. We actually did call 24 hrs in advance and spoke to Jeff (in the Pro Shop) who also told us "no". Look, my pops was a country club pro for 30 years - I grew up on a golf course. If your position is that you couldn't let a twosome out 10 mins early as the first group of the day because it would mess with the "maintenance schedule", we both know you're completely BS'ing, haha - C'mon man. No harm, no foul - we skipped the first hole and were done by 0940. But no, we won't be coming back. As I wrote earlier, too many other courses just as nice whom treat its players better. The staff is charming, the food is really good, and they have all the modern technology like Golfboards, Toptracer, and easy online booking. The coolest part of the experience for me is the small airport nearby has single-prop and other little planes flying near and over the course often... really cool!!! read more

Just played this course for the first time. I was very impressed. The staff were very helpful and they have a nice practice facility. As for the course itself (we used the white/green combo-about 6300 yards). The Tee boxes were in good condition, the fairways were well manicured & varies from tight to wide open. Some blind shots and local knowledge is helpful. Thank you Matt & Tony for the much needed advice. There are well placed hazards, bunkers along with some water & oh....the desert & low flying small planes. The bunkers were like a magnet for me but it's all good. The greens are fairly large with lots of undulations & pretty fast. They rolled very true, can easily 3 putt if you're not careful. Would definitely play this course again. read more

Terrible. Course was in awful condition (greens were bumpy, fairways had dead spots, most bunkers weren't raked and had foot prints everywhere), group in front of us was super slow. When a ranger (Lee) finally came around, I politely asked him if he could keep an eye on them as they were almost 2 holes off pace. He was super rude and confrontational and told me that they were right on time, even though we were waiting on every shot. Turns out, when I got into my golf cart, we got a notification that we were 13 minutes off pace and told us that we needed to play quicker. How are we off pace and the group in front of us holding us up, isn't!? And of course, when I mentioned this situation to the guys in the pro shop (within ear shot of the course manager), they could have cared less. Is this what customer service is coming to? Golf is an all time high, Longbow is reaping the benefits financially and is happy to take your money, but isn't concerned with the customer experience. It's a "pay me and good luck on the course" mentality. Doesn't fly with me.... I'll play courses that are in better shape and appreciate their customers. read more

Love the grill, what a great thing to have a place to go in Mesa with a great patio, gorgeous view and watching the planes land at Falcon field. They even have signage facing the 202 freeway. There is one thing that all golfers do - change their swings - sometimes as often as every hole. I was in the midst of a swing change, and wanted to find a fairly innocuous course that would allow me some leeway on not losing to many balls. I had heard that Longbow was fairly straight forward - somewhat challenging, but not a course that required several sleeves of balls. Although it was in the middle of summer, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a well cared for course, the fairways were well tended, and the greens were true. Even though it was kind of a desert course, the large expanses of sand were on the sides of the fairways, and even if you hit it into them, there were manageable. The staff was friendly, and very helpful. As part of the OB Management, they honor the OB cards from various golf courses, so the price is very inexpensive. Only two things that were out of the ordinary - (1) most of the other OB golf clubs include balls with the greens fees - Longbow does not; and (2) they do not give you keys to the carts until your tee time. This is very inconvenient for those that are older - they have to carry their bags to the practice areas. Although it wasn't a problem for me, I did hear several people comment on it. All in all, quite a pleasant experience. Not many carries, a very nice course, with interesting, if not challenging holes (that is, if you can keep your tee shots straight). Plus it is near an airport, so you can constantly have planes taking off and landing over the course. Since they are small planes, it is very interesting - especially the vintage planes. Another plus is that there are no homes on the course. I will make a point to return - especially when I am working on swing changes. read more

I found this to be a solid course. Bag drop service, coolers on the cart are a big help, especially on a 90 degree day. The bunkers are quite challenging - deep and plentiful. Terrain is well maintained. Greens are unbelievably hard - I dropped in an eight iron approach and there was literally no ball mark to repair. I would definitely return! read more

I played Longbow today with one of my best friends and his son and shot my best round of golf in more than three years. The course was in excellent shape, it was a fun and interesting layout, the pace of play was great, and the weather was outstanding. So, why do you ask, am I giving the course a poor rating of only two stars? Here's why. After checking in an hour prior to our tee time and paying my green fees, I went out to hit some balls on the range. I could immediately see that there were no balls on the range so I looked around for someone to ask for help. When I couldn't find anyone, I wandered over to the cart shed where I did find a young man working. He informed me that if I wanted range balls I got them from him but that I had to pay for them in the shop first and show him a receipt. At this point I began to start thinking this is a little unusual for nice courses in the Phoenix area, but okay, not a big deal, but you would think they would say something when you first check in and pay so you don't end up running back and forth wasting time. So off I go, back to the shop, where I pay for my range balls and get my receipt. From there, I go back to the cart shed where the same young man I talked to just a few minutes before is still standing. I show him my receipt, he hands me my bag of balls, and in a friendly manner, yes friendly, I mention that it would be helpful if customers were told they needed to pay for range balls and where to pick them up as they arrived at the course or checked in. Now I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was something along the lines of "well, I guess we all learn don't we". So here's my bottom line on Longbow. It's an excellent course, but in area full of excellent courses, I won't return. I shouldn't have to figure out where and how to simply get range balls, and I most certainly shouldn't be treated in a rude and unprofessional manner by surly staff. read more

3/22/19 We arrived at the golf course this morning in time to get a little breakfast burrito from the snack bar. We were the only ones waiting it took 10 minutes or longer to make breakfast burrito. At the start of #9 We decided to get a sandwich for my teenage son at the turn. I called at the ninth hole and asked them to connect me with the grill. They connected me and I got a voicemail. I hung upLlaAnd then I called back two minutes later and it was Jeff, at the pro shop, said I'm sorry, we don't have a phone at the grill. I asked Jeff, how do you order food at the turn, he replied, you have to go in and place the order. I said, that doesn't seem to speed up the game of golf very much does it? Jeff replied,... I'm still waiting for Jeff's reply... We came into the grill at the turn and said, "what do you have to eat that's already ready so we don't have to wait very long?" The waitress responded we have hotdogs and Brat's ready. I said OK two brats please. 12 minutes later we still don't have a brat. There is no one else ahead of us!!! COME ON LONGBOW!! What about the concession cart you ask? Saw her at the start of #1. Saw her at the start of 10...after we left the snack bar with no food. They have my money!! We have no food!! If you are looking for a desert golf course this is your place. On the course you will see rabbits, ground squirrels, lizards, and maybe even a snake or two. There are cacti everywhere and lots of other natural Arizona plants. The clubhouse is very nice, and so is the restaurant and bar area. The guys who work the clubhouse can be a little off putting and act like they don't see you for some reason. Other than the time we got yelled at for taking our cart out to the car. My partner had bad knees and couldn't really walk that far so we drove out to the car. When I drove back I got yelled at by some kid working there. I couldn't believe how loud he yelled and how rude he was. He almost got a five iron up the side of his head. Back to the course, which is a course I love to play. This is a challenging course there are dog legs all over the place and you really have to hit it on target or you will be hitting from the desert. But the fairways are usually kept in very good condition along with the greens. They can play very fast or slow depending on what time you are playing but they are nice. I generally play during the summer because I am a Arizona local and don't mind playing in the heat and its much cheaper to play then. Also Falcon Field is an airport which is kiddie corner to the course so you might have planes flying over but it's no big deal. Sometimes you will see old bombers or cool planes like that fly over and its fun to watch in my opinion. Overall I really like Longbow, the course is kept up very nicely, the clubhouse is one of the nicest around and the course will challenge almost any golfer. They have a nice driving range and a big putting and chipping area to warm up on. I would recommend that you play Longbow if you area in the area. read more

I have now played Longbow three times (twice in 2009, and once in 2010). I do have to say it's a fine course for all tastes. I can't say it's a 5 star course, because it doesn't have quite the scenery and/or elevation changes that some that are nearer to the mountains have. But it has enough interesting holes to make it a unique experience. It's not a gimmicky course by any means. The course is more or less flat, with enough mounding on the fairways and around the greens to make it challenging. One major advantage this course has is that there are not any houses on the course. This means you don't have to worry about breaking anything if you like to slice the ball; the worst that can happen is that you lose your ball in the desert. I also really like the fast greens. These greens are among the fastest and the truest I've played, and it's really a delight to putt on them. This is a great course for a cheap afternoon round during the summer. For $40, you are probably better off going a few miles down the road to Las Sendas, but sometimes in the afternoon rates can be had for under $30. read more

Ahh Longbow, one of my faves! I love courses with no homes. Played yesterday, last minute decision and got out @ 2:08. Played with a Father (85 years young) & son, I envied the son, wish I still had my Dad around to golf with. The course is in very nice shape, greens are getting a bit rough but still roll true. It took us well over 2 hrs for the front and we went back and redid the front so we could get 18 in and we did. Thoroughly enjoyed the course & company, and the highlight was seeing a Bobcat on the 3rd hole. read more

Went to play Longbow GC this past weekend and I really enjoyed myself. I wanted to get outside of the normal Scottsdale courses and play something different, and Longbow really delivered a great time. The staff was really friendly, the facilities were nice, and the carts have GPS which is always a plus. The layout of the track was challenging but not so difficult that you wanted to break your clubs every other hole. Lots of desert off of the fairways but not the kind that you can't find your ball in when you slice or hook it into the area. Considering it's the end of summer I thought that it was in great shape and I can see how it would be amazing once peak season hits. Definitely recommend Longbow GC for an overall great golf experience. read more

Played this troon Course and was disappointed, the grass is in transition and most of the course is currently dead. The staff is the least friendly I have encountered in the valley. Pace of play was under 4 hours. Visited the snack bar and because of covid they should have stayed closed. They force you to order inside then go outside to claim your purchase. The help knows this is stupid and makes the experience even worse. I do not recommend playing this course. This course is typically over priced, many better values in the valley read more

For the $83 greens ( cart included) there can't be a better deal in PHX area for a quality golf experience. Friendly staff upon arrival and in pro shop. Interesting layout that looks like AZ target golf but is more fair than most. Excellent greens with well maintained fairways. Bunkers well groomed but just a tad on the bigger particle side, common in this area. Quite a few small planes and choppers overhead but you get used to it. Would highly recommend this course for those of you snowbirds coming to PHX. read more

This is a really nice golf course in a really bad location. It is located close to a very busy airport. Throughout your round you will be distracted by planes of all shapes and sizes flying over head - close enough that you could see the pilots waving. Nonetheless, I would go back because the golf course is well maintained and fun to play. read more
