Somebody open a window because it's about to get smug in here. I don't want to see the Arizona Diamondbacks getting anything besides five-stars because this is truly a fifty-star team! Making Arizona their home in 1998, this team has shown so much heart. Since their debut, the Diamondbacks have won two Wild Card Series, five NL West division titles, two NL pennants, and the 2001 World Series. I remember watching them win the World Series in 2001. That feeling of pride was something I'll never forget and before 2023, I wondered if we'll ever get that feeling again. After beating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 in Game 7 of the 2023 NLCS, the Arizona Diamondbacks returned to the World Series for the first time since 2001 against the Texas Rangers in October of 2023. They lost the series 4-1 at home in Arizona but I was proud of them. They weren't even supposed to be there! How can I be disappointed when I had counted them out prior to the wild card berth? And while we had a promising 2024, having scored the most runs in the 2024 season with 886, having the best on-base percentage, and were second in batting average and slugging percentage, they couldn't quite clench a spot but hey, here's to a stellar 2024 season. Proud Arizonan right here. I often say it's hard being an Arizona sports fan but I love me my Diamondbacks. Catch a live game if you can. Great game last night. (8/9/25). D-backs 2nd game with the Rockies and D-backs won it. But that loud b*tch behind me who wouldn't stfu. Nothing like baseball in Arizona in October. Especially when the roof is retracted. This review was for a postseason game against the LA Dodgers. We got our parking online at SpotHero. It was $20. Probably only about .10 miles away. Very close. Other parking spots just as close were $40 Entrance was easy. I carried a 12X12 clear tote. We brought in two sealed bottled waters and a few snacks. Look online for specifics. The food options for gluten free people are listed in the MLB ballpark app. I easily found the restaurants listed but there wasn't any gluten free designated areas like at other MLB stadiums. I used to love going to Chase Field, but it's not the same since they got rid of Gadzooks. Their cornbread nachos and margaritas were the best, and now the food options feel generic. I even tried fries from a new vendor and they were cold. Overall, the food experience has really gone downhill. read more

Since their inaugural year in 1998, I have been to countless Diamondback games. I'm a huge fan of baseball. Even though this was a big basketball town with the Suns, people were ready for a baseball team to come here (the Cardinals were pitiful at the time). I remember watching the opening game on TV on March 31, 1998. Travis Lee, Matt Williams, and Jay Bell were our big stars at the time. My first game at the BOB (Bank One Ballpark now Chase Field) was against the St. Louis Cardinals later in the summer of '98. Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were in the middle of their home run chase and I saw McGwire smash the Front Row Friday's neon sign with a home run during batting practice. After losing 97 games that year, Jerry Colangelo got aggressive and brought in the "Big Unit" Randy Johnson and we made the playoffs in our second year. The Diamondbacks won the World Series in 2001 against the Yankees in our 4th year of existence. That was a special year for me as I attended many of the games that year. We added Luis Gonzalez, Mark Grace, Curt Shilling, and Steve Finley over those 4 years and formed a nice roster of hungry veterans. 9/11 happened right before the playoffs and baseball became a outlet for those needing healing from that tragedy. I was able to attend many of the playoff games that year including Games 1 & 7 of the World Series. I scalped my Game 7 ticket right before game time for $100 cash. Being there at Game 7 and seeing the Diamondbacks win the World Series and attending the parade later in the week was definitely one of the highlights of my life. The Diamondbacks haven't been the same since 2001. We've only made the playoffs 4 times since then (2002, 2007, 2011, and 2017). The ballpark is usually pretty low in attendance and the excitement for this team just isn't what it used to be. Paul Goldschmidt brought us some star power for a few years until we traded him. I still try and attend a few games a year because of my love for baseball. They have a 20 Year Experience room at Chase Field that showcases memorabilia from over the years including the World Series trophy. It always brings back fond memories for me from the many years of attending games here. Crowds weren't allowed at the ballpark during 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. When they allowed people to return in 2021, it was my first time attending a sporting event in over a year. It was a nice feeling to return to some normalcy and just enjoy a live baseball game. The D'Backs also celebrated their 20th anniversary of winning the World Series this past year. I hope sometime in my lifetime I get to see this team do something special again like they did in 2001. But until then, I'm going to enjoy the cheap discounted tickets and extra space around me. Go D'Backs! read more

The Arizona Diamondbacks are okay by me. I'm an Atlanta Braves fan so I'm biased towards National League teams of which the D-backs are one. I best know the Diamondbacks for their epic 2001 World Series win over the New York Yankees. They were a new team then. The Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays began their first seasons in 1998. The 2001 World Series went seven games with Games 4 and 5 going extra innings (10 and 12, respectively). Games 3-5 were played at Yankee Stadium with the other four games played at Bank One Ballpark (today known as Chase Field). The stardom of pitchers Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson really grew after Arizona's championship win. The two were named co-MVPs of the World Series. The only other time a World Series had multiple MVPs was in 1981 (Los Angeles Dodgers). The Yankees, as they usually do, had a star-studded lineup. They included Derek Jeter, Tino Martinez, Alfonso Soriano, Mike Mussina, Roger Clemens, Mariano Rivera, and Mike Stanton. Among them, Jeter, Mussina, and Rivera, along with manager Joe Torre, have since been inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame. Randy Johnson went on to be inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015. Curt Schilling, however, has not. At the time of writing this review, Schilling has been on the Hall of Fame ballot eight times, but has yet to achieve the 75% required votes for induction. The particular game we attended was because the Diamondbacks were playing my son's favorite team, on his actual birthday. That was the push we needed to finally get out, and enjoy a game. It was a close game, with the Diamondbacks losing by one run. While not one of the best teams in the league, the D-Backs showed up to play. They were playing competitively until the end. I have been to games of other franchises where the last quarter is just watching them go through the motions. The Diamondbacks played hard to the end. I respect that. It shows they respect not only the game, but their fans. While my oldest still loves his favorite team, my youngest turned into a D-Backs fan that night. Went to watch Diamondbacks vs giants game. It is an amazing stadium. The roof opens up on some games and also the walls next to the big screen open up or can stay closed if needed for special events like fireworks. If you are a season passes for diamond sections you get a whole lot of special restaurants and access to less trafficked areas. If you are just like me (without season passes) then you still have many options for food and alcohol stands. For one there's a few restaurants outside of the stadium for before or after eating/ drinking. Inside there's food on all levels but I like big dawgs (hot dogs) that are really good and churros for dessert (in carts) both places are on the first floor inside the stadium. read more

First of all, I admit that we didn't do enough research. But that being the case, when we walked into the stadium area, we were met by a person who indicated that my wife's purse was too large. We had taken the light rail so going back to the car to drop it off wasn't an option. The other option was to check it in at the curb for $10. I was used to being able to buy tickets outside the field. There were no vendors due to online ticketing. So our only option was to buy tickets at the field. I got the MLB app and Ticketmaster, then picked the two cheapest bleacher seats available. They were $19 each. When I totaled everything up, the cost of two bleacher seats for an almost empty stadium for the worst team in baseball was just a hair under $60. Neither of us are big Diamondback fans so it was a completely wasted trip. We grabbed the light rail and returned to our hotel. read more

The Dbacks experience is aimed towards Senior citizens. They go out of their way to see that the youth in the stadium do NOT get to have a baseball experience. Constantly scolding kids and parents who are only trying to get a glimpse of players long before game starts. Treating fans disrespectfully. When you are a regular you don't need an escort to your seats and treated like a child by some 70 some year old. Of course not all ushers are out of touch, but enough to ruin the experience. So I get security protocols and have been to many stadiums with the clear bag requirement. But when your wristlet is an inch longer than the plastic example and they turn you away or make you use a clear ziploc bag for your purse, why not just make me empty the contents of my purse and show you what's in it? Wand me, body scan me, whatever. And if you encounter Gloria outside of the stadium, steer clear. She uses her ounce of power to humiliate customers indiscriminately. I literally watched two other women with the same wristlet walk past her and yet she said nothing to them or the guy with the fanny pack (also on the no no list). If you're going to make a rule, enforce it fairly and consistently. As for the stadium itself, it's pretty nice. Clean, cool on this 105' day, spacious, full of sponsorships and advertisements. There's basically no one here so parking was a breeze and the concession prices are standard. read more

Shame on you Chase Field the Diamondbacks franchise. You should train your staff and security to treat your paying patrons with mire dignity and respect. Security is ridiculous. 2 security guards cleared two tiny wallet sized bags for our group's entry. But another security guard "Misty" said no to one of the bags --she said it was 1-inch too big. Confused, I asked one of the two guards that says yes, if we can empty the bag fully, roll it up, and put it into my pocket. That guard replied with "yes, why not?". So we did just that --emptied the bag, I rolled it into a tiny empty roll, and put it into my the back pocket of my jeans. We cleared the metal detectors and out of nowhere, Karen (oops I mean Misty) snuck up behind me, grabbed the rolled bag from my back pocket and said, "nice try" (accusing me of trying to "sneak" in the bag). Wow. And to make it worse, they then decided another bag was oversized by an inch also. Yikes. After some back and forth trying to make sense of why 2 guards said yes and the other said no, etc etc, one of our group chose to take the bag back to the car while the rest waited. About 5 minutes later, the security guard Misty absolutely and literally (with no exaggeration) laughed at the one of the bag owner's --literally making fun of the bag's owner. Ummm. Really? Yes Misty, we spent nearly $2k on tickets and more than anything, our goal was to "sneak" in an "empty" bag that was 1" too big. If any of you Yelper's are looking for a mall cop, Misty is your gal. Like for real. Anyone planning to attend a game, make sure you know that the following: Paying clients are strictly forbidden to bring a bag larger than 4.5" x 6.5" into the arena, even an empty bag. And they take that sh*t VERY VERY serious. Yeah. Dumb. Some other uncalled for things occurred during this silly annoyance. But I will save the Yelp community the pain of disclosing more --you get the idea. Such an annoying and RUDE experience. So much in fact, that it will keep us from ever returning to the field. Last week when I came to see a game, it was a clear reminder that this team offers more than just a game. I like the fact they contribute to a local community. I like to participate to 50/50 raffles. We had planned as a group of friends ( some from out of state) of getting together for a night at Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers for food and the game for 4 months. When tickets became available, we bought a table for 8, spending nearly $1000.00. We all made plans, and tickets were sent to each person. 3 days before the game, I got an email from the Dbacks that stated that they gave our seats to someone more important than us by saying they weren't supposed to be sold to the public. They changed our seats to a non food area in a section not impressed with for the same price we paid for the Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers terrace. Then they acted like we should be happy with the whole thing. What a very unethical company move to give our seats to someone else after we made plans for so long. I told the guys that I would no longer be making plans to have our company team builders at the dbacks. Now I see why so many x dbacks fans have switched to become Dodger fans now. They just lost 8 more fans. This is the most lame thing they could do to someone. Do you know how hard it was to call everyone and tell them that our night was canceled by the dbacks and don't come to Arizona? The people here are very friendly, sans one bitchy security lady who many of us have deemed "The Ticket Nazi". Love the Team Shop and all the amazing Dbacks gear they sell in here. My only beef is they don't sell player shirts for the more obscure players like Cliff Pennington and even A.J. Pollock, who has really picked up in popularity. I had to SPECIAL ORDER my player shirts from MLB.com because of this. I was NOT happy about it! But hey, I am not going to let something like that ruin my overall experience or love for the DBacks! The CLASSIEST person of all with this team is none other than Derrick Hall. He goes out of his way to accommodate even the simplest of requests and such for the fans and treats every fan he meets like first class royalty. We love our dbacks! The games are always fun and the views are good from anywhere. Usually we sit lower, but we recently bought 300-level tickets. It was a night game and the roof was opened right before the 7:10 game time. Even though is was still over 100 degrees, the stadium remained cool. Sitting up high there was a nice breeze and you could still feel the air-conditioner pumping. The seats up top are angled for easy viewing and there is plenty of leg room. We have done the all you can eat seats and have even had the opportunity to watch from the pool, but the top seats were still a great and different place to view the game. The concessions staff were all pleasant and the food was hot and delicious ballpark food. They even had value popcorn so I didn't have to pay $9.00 for a helmet of popcorn. On days that are hundred and 100° and below they will open the roof (they crank up the air conditioning and open the roof 10 minutes before the game) fun place to come watch a game and spend time with friends and family. Tickets can be bought for as cheap as six dollars and sit wherever you want because the ushers don't care except for opening day or in the high dollar owners seats. Sit in the bleachers section if you want to catch homerun balls. I enjoy Lolos chicken and waffles. read more
