We came to AMC Westgate because they offer the reclining chairs, and you can reserve your seat online. Well, as soon as we sat down, my seat didn't work. My husband's seat just kept reclining even after he stopped pushing the buttons. There was popcorn all over in between the cushion, and everything just appeared to be old and overused. For the price they charge to see a movie nowadays, I think these seats should be cleaned and checked regularly to ensure they work properly. Oh and the drink prices at the bar were so expensive! I don't know how this place is still in business. It's absolutely disgusting. The outside of the building is nice clean and inviting. But once you get your tickets checked it's a disaster. The soda machine was so gross. No ice in any of the 4 machines. There was trash everywhere you looked. Things got worse when I went into the bathroom. Again trash, EVERYWHERE. Trash cans overflowing along with the trash bins in the stalls. Clogged up toilets. A leak with water flowing down the floor drain. The smell was of urine. I couldn't believe my eyes and smell. The theater room was also disappointing. The chairs are so old and you can tell they are so dirty and need a cleaning. The carpet was filthy, the carpet in the steps was ripping and torn. I do not suggest coming to the place. If anything, it needs new management and a makeover. Or it needs to be closed. AMC should be embarrassed read more

I've given this theater multiple chances, but unfortunately the experience continues to decline. The bathrooms were dirty and clearly hadn't been maintained throughout the day. The concession area was chaotic, with extremely long lines and drink machines that were out of ice. The popcorn station and condiment area were messy and unsanitary, making it unappealing to use. The concession staff seemed frustrated and overwhelmed. While they weren't particularly friendly, it's hard to blame them when they're trying to handle a constant stream of customers along with what looked like an endless number of mobile and advance orders. It seems like the theater is understaffed or simply not set up to manage the volume. The auditoriums themselves also need attention. They didn't feel clean or well-maintained, which takes away from what should be an enjoyable movie experience. AMC has always been one of my preferred theaters, but this location feels neglected. Better staffing, more frequent cleaning, and improved organization at concessions would go a long way toward improving the overall experience. read more

I've had the incredible displeasure of an interaction with one of the workers a week ago and just had to post about it. I went in to see Project Hail Mary on IMAX. While ordering food, there was one girl who was apologizing to others as it was her first day. Understandable. She took our order and was by herself so we waited for the hot food. She got backed up once the line got longer so cooking my food was put until later once the line died. When she goes to cook the food, she takes the hot dog out of the oven but drops it on the floor. Understandable as it was her first day. Then another guy comes in (the one that is trouble) by the name of Robert to help. They take their sweet time trying to get my food going and took another 5 minutes to put my food back in the oven. By then it's been 15 minutes already and I was getting impatient as the movie was starting already. Once the food finally gets to me, I asked to confirm if they gave me the right sauce. They didn't. I asked for ranch and bbq for my tenders but Robert puts in buffalo. I politely tell him that I wanted bbq and ranch. He then goes on to protect the girl after she admits getting it wrong that they're not allowed to serve 2 sauces unless they paid extra. Not knowing that information, he accuses me of stealing and gives me attitude about it, trying to protect her and antagonize me about it. I don't know, seemed like he's just trying to get in the girls pants and be an angel in front of her. I get offended and upset and also didn't back down. Once I finally get walking to my movie, he FOLLOWS me inside and when I confront him he just says "I work here and I'm going around", but why would you go into the same exact movie that I was going to if he wasn't trying to threaten me. Sus. I also don't back down and then he comes back trying to start a fight. Ruined the whole mood of the movie afterwards He must've known when my movie ended too because once I got out he was by the concession stand ready to stare me down with his other workers until I left. Robert, if you see this. Know that you are one shitty piece of work that will probably never get the girl you were being so defensive about. Do NOT interact with Robert. This theatre had a beautiful interior when you walked in. The food ordering was not intuitive for me, but perhaps I should have paid better attention to detail. Candy had to be grabbed somewhere behind where the lines formed. The IMAX theatre room itself was evidently old, with the seats needing an upgrade. The sound and visuals for the Project Hail Mary movie were good though. read more

Hey Yelpers! Came here to whatcha movie with the fam. First off, parking is about 100 yards or so from the front entrance. Makes a difference when it's 108 degrees. Anyway, we get to the entrance where a person is getting sick in front of the doorway. Find a different t entrance. The person scanning our tickets was very nice. Go to get a drink and some fresh warm cookies! After I pay, the counter person tells me "I forgot to tel you that we don't have kids for the large drink." I'd already paid. Great, moving on. Wait for my order of 9 mini cookies, then head to the theater. Open the box, there's only 8 cookies. Go back to the counter. "Sorry, it'll be about 10-15 minutes for another cookie." Nevermind.... Theaters was on the second floor. Go to take the elevator. Walls look like they hadn't been wiped down in a LONG time. Ewww. Theater was ok. Seats are average at best. I've never been in a movie theater that was a full on sink area in the back. What else happens in here that requires a wash station? Anyway. We aren't AMC members ( my daughter is) but this was the only place showing the movie we wanted to see. If that situation happens again, I'll wait for it to come out on video. Went to AMC Westgate today with my daughter to see a limited run movie. This was our first time at this location and it will hopefully be our last. The place was clean but they only had 1 person working the concessions and a bog crowd coming in. The popcorn didn't feel very fresh eventhough we were there for a noon show. Lastly and probably my biggest issue is the lack of reclining seats. The seats in our theater were the old style that are fabric, don't recline and are small. We made due but for the fact we paid a LOT to see the special run movie to me it was not worth it at all. read more

This was our first time coming to this theater. It will also be our last. First impressions - the lobby was bright and inviting, and the ticket-taker was very friendly. This location (maybe it's all AMC's now, I really don't know) has the freestyle Coke machines, so you purchase your cup at the concession counter and fill your own drink. Hubby was given an ICEE cup and charged for an ICEE. We told the cashier we ordered a fountain drink and though she switched out the cup she did not correct the charge. Whatever, we just moved on. It took 4 of the freestyle machines to find one that wasn't out of ice and/or Coke Zero. One had soda that was completely flat. The women's restroom was so gross. First thing that hit me walking in was the odor of urine. There was trash everywhere and the garbage can was overflowing. Almost every stall was dirty in some way. Our auditorium also had a musty odor. I saw one review mention reclining seats, but this one did not have those. There was trash in the cupholders and the chairs were just... dirty. My clothes literally smelled like the stinky seats when I got home. The picture and audio quality of the movie also seemed off. Black flickering spots on one side of the screen for the entire movie. Projector issue, perhaps? Pretty distracting. Audio was also too loud. I like a good amount of volume for my movies and music but this was just weirdly loud. All in all, this place just really put a damper on our movie-going experience. When you're spending $50-$75 or even more for your tickets, for drinks, popcorn, maybe a little treat, etc., you just really expect more if not the bare minimum. Every thing was okay until while we were getting our drinks, the soda machines were sticky and dirty. Once we walked into the theatre, I was in disbelief because I've never seen a theatre be this dirty! There was food left on the seat next to us. The seats are disgustingly dirty. You can visibly see they have not been cleaned. The floors looked very questionable too. I almost wanted to leave because of how uncomfortable it felt. In Arizona, you are typically either a Harkins or AMC movie fan. I grew up at Harkins, so that's always been my go to. My sister and I decided to go to AMC on a Wednesday evening to see an early release of wicked part two. The tickets were $16 apiece, which I find completely outrageous. This is my first time going to this establishment. When we walked in to take a greeter was very enthusiastic and super fun. He had good vibes and gave us the cute little free swag item for seeing the wicked movie. I could not believe the prices that I saw when we were waiting in line for concessions. I have food allergies and asked the guy behind the counter What ingredients were in a particular item, and while he went out of his way to ask for the ingredients list to make sure that my concern was noted, I cannot believe the prices. This large pretzel was $17, and the large popcorn was also around the same price. I spent $45 on those two things plus $40 for the tickets. This was only for two people, that is literally insane! I had a gift card here that's why we went, but I still have to pay quite a bit out-of-pocket after the gift card was redeemed. Why is AMC so much more expensive than other movie theaters, I don't get it. Definitely will not return. read more

Only one word to describe this place....disgusting! Sticky floors - dirty bathrooms (men's room reeked of god only knows what and was covered in urine). The concession area was a cesspool of spilled drinks and sauces that no one bothered to even attempt to clean up during the 3 hours we were here. Went to watch Odessey in 70 mm which was advertised as a specialty theater in the AMC army. It felt like a dollar theater - let me describe what awaited us after we paid $32 for 2 "matinee" tickets in this "specialty" theater: seats are all old school theater style which would have been fine if they were well kept - which they weren't - at all. The floors were sticky and covered with debris and the theater itself had an overall sour smell - not popcorn but more rancid lamb - there was literally a black garbage bag full of trash in the aisle that was just left there. Popcorn was not good tasted burnt - the only reason we stayed to watch is because my hubby has been dying to see this movie - meanwhile everyone around us was saying the same thing - gross - disgusting - never going back ....do better AMC read more

Probably the dirtiest and most disgusting theater I have ever been to. Nasty bathrooms, subpar service and mediocre food. If you enjoy bathrooms that make you want to vomit from the smell, squeaky seats and food all over this is perfect. Never again. We went to go watch Demon Hunters in the lazer IMAX theater. It was extremely loud, it was 80-100 decibels. Even covering my ears, it was still way too loud. There was also someone vaping in the theater. The popcorn was burnt. It was a terrible movie going experience. After 30 minutes or so, we walked out. So going to the movies did waste over an hour of our time today. The supervisor did say he could turn down the volume, which is nice to know they're able to do that! However, it should not have been that loud to begin with. Our ears were hurting so bad, we asked if we could just get tickets to a different showing, to which they were able to accommodate! With them making it right, as soon as we told them the issue is what really made me give a higher rating! I'm so thankful for that. We love going to the movies, so this was upsetting. Two start because the opening of the theater and the decor inside is really nice. Love how done up it looks but don't let it fool you. They still have old theater seating and it's extremely outdated and dirty. Super uncomfortable given most theaters around have the recliners now that are leather and not cloth. Was excited to see how their snack area looked but also unimpressed once we walked up to order and there wasn't a lot of real food options. Not to mention when we ordered the chicken tenders for almost $12 it doesn't come with fries. That's all separate. The chicken tenders were mostly just overcooked breading and very dry. It's extra for any extra sauce too. And you only get four chicken tenders. Everything was overpriced IMO. Moving on to the imax theater we sat directly in the middle and it wasn't busy but the theater is extremely loud and me and my party we were with kept hoping they'd turn it down before the movie started. I've been to theaters that were loud but this was something else. I might be biased because we go to harkens a lot where we have popcorn perks and the drink cups but they offer more food options and better priced concessions plus have reclining seats. read more

This place is in desperate need of deep cleaning, renovation and projector overhaul or recalibrating. It's been a few years since I've rented a private screening here and I forgot how poor this location is. This time for Wicked was no better. The smell of burnt popcorn was throughout both floors and the theaters at the time we got there until 3 hours later after the movie. The screens upstairs are dark, in badly need of either a new bulb, recalibration and maybe just start with cleaning the dirty dusty glass covering the projection room. The movies and commercials are dim, poor contrast and very bad colors. It was tough to make out the dark scenes in the movie and previews. Toilets were actually cleaner than the rest of the place. Standing around in the foyer and upstairs by the old closed confessions, the dry food spillage, dust layers and dirt plague all the horizontal surfaces. And don't look up to the 2 huge chandeliers and air vents! read more

I'm a big AMC fan, but this location is a disappointment. The only auditorium with recliners is their Dolby theater. The seats are so worn down and in need of replacement. I feel none of the seat rumble that makes Dolby theaters so awesome, and the audio quality in the theater has not impressed me the way other Dolby theaters have. This location is also located in a mall, making parking a bit of a pain and some parking spots require hourly payment. The entire theater needs a renovation for reclining seats and new Dolby seats. read more

Movie 3.21.25: Haven't been to this theatre in a very long time. Purchasing tickets was a quick & easy process as you walk up to a kiosk to buy. Plenty of snack and drink options. Theatre seats are the traditional ones -they do not recline like most updates theatre's but still a good time. There were still some used napkins and yogurt containers left behind from the prior movie goers but hey, the restrooms were nice and clean! read more

Just saw the Odyssey in IMAX. First off, the "gourmet" cheddar popcorn was all stale and in tiny pieces that you only find in the bottom of the barrel, or bag. Next, all but one of the icee machines was not working. All that was available was Fanta Blueberry. I should have tasted it before I sat down but I didn't. I will not make that mistake again. It was so disgusting I could not drink it beyond the first sip. So now we have bad food, bad drink, then we make it to our seats. The seating is so narrow and tiny that I feel like I am squeezed into an airline seat. I am 5'6" and weigh 120 so I am not a big person and I still felt completely cramped. To make things worse, you have to force yourself backward to get any recline in the seat at all but you have to keep pressure on the seat in front of you just to stay that way so why bother trying. THEN the movie starts... it was so loud it actually hurt my ears. I had to plug them because it physically hurt. I looked around and I was not the only one with my ears plugged. Mind you, I would have walked out long before this but it was my friend's birthday treat and this was a special occasion so I stuck it through. It has been two hours since the movie and my ears are still ringing. This is the worse money I have ever spent and the worse movie experience of my life. My expectations were shattering into a million pieces along with my ear drums. read more

Very unhappy with our visit. There were holes in the ceiling in our theatre. No paper towels in the bathroom to dry your hands and only one automatic hand dryer working. Make sure you take picture of your license plate and then you can get 4 hours of free parking from the movie attendant. Vegans, AMC now serves Impossible nuggets. I had it with marinara sauce. It satiated my hunger. If you have AMC stubs membership, get free large popcorn refills. I sprinkled packets of Parmesan cheese and one red chili flakes to make a cheesy-spicy snack. There was 1 person selling food and a long line the floors were dirty the butter area was filthy and floors in front of our seats were so sticky my wife's sandals were literally stuck to them. I went to watch the new Mario Movie last night here and it was very disappointing. The sodas machines were super dirty and the butter dispenser were not clean either.Napinks everywhere , butter all over the counter, straws and trash all over the floor! the theater itself had this HORRIBLE smell of throw up. I could not enjoy my movie or popcorn because the smell was sooo bad. The bad experience started at the concession, the employee had an attitude, I asked if the size of popcorn I was getting had a free refill and he said yes however, later on I found out it did not. The popcorn was cold, when attempting to put butter, the machine was not working, I had to walk to the other side to get butter and it was barely working. However, it seems like the popcorn was flavorless, even with the butter. When attempting to get a drink, there was no ice in the machine, everything was dirty. The theater we used was musky smelling, the seats looked very dirty, the floor was very dirty. The restroom was very dirty with pee on the floor. I've heard so many bad things, but it was my first time experiencing them at this theater. It was my fault for not seeing that. It was not a reclining seat theater. I don't go to movies often. My latest visit was part of a girls' day. We all purchased our tickets online to guarantee there would be enough seats together. There is a service charge when purchasing tickets online. Self-service kiosks are also available in the theater lobby for ticket purchases. Theater was clean. Seats here were comfortable. Theater was cool. We enjoyed the movie without any issues. Concessions at movies are notoriously overpriced. AMC is no exception. Only two people were working the concession counter. It took about 20 minutes for us to make it through the concession line. Coke products are sold here. Self-serve Coke Freestyle machines are at both ends of the concession counter, as are other drinks. The usual candy, popcorn, and other treat are also available. read more

This is probably the crappiest AMC on the west side. The only theatre that has recliner seats is the Dolby Digital - the rest are all the very old, very creaky-sounding, very musty smelling folding chairs. Even when you get to watch something in the Dolby Digital theatre, that theatre is poorly cared for. The seats are cracked, dirty & the theatre itself smells like it hasn't been properly cleaned in years. read more
