The most disgusting theater i have ever been to. Popcorn everywhere, the movie theater barely had anyone in it yet trash EVERYWHERE. Clearly wasn't cleaned in between movies. Bathrooms were filthy, trash cans were full, paper towels everywhere. This honestly ruined the movie going experience for me. I'll be watching movies from the comfort of my own home moving forward. Went to a matinee on my birthday. I arrived 1/2 hour early so I could get a drink and a snack for the show but ALL of the drink stations were shut down. I had been to this theater before, years ago, to watch a premiere. It was an absolute disaster inside and I reviewed it at the time but I guess AMC managed to get my review pulled. As I approached my seat today, I noticed my shoes began the sticky-floor smack. It was surprising, since drinks were unavailable. That told me that they haven't cleaned the theater in some time, which reflected some previous reviews. I think the AMC Westgate will be the theater I avoid in the future. read more

Whew, this theater needs some updates. Many broken chairs, split cushions, missing tiles. No recliners. Bathrooms need a refresh. The staff were friendly and the lobby is nice, but it was a bit strange to go to our iMAX theater 5 minutes before show time and all the lights were off. Once on, it was clear the theater hadn't been cleaned since it was last used. We will pass on coming to this location until it gets renovated. read more

Terrible theatre. My experience was not good at this location. First of all the movie for 12:00 you would think at the least, previews begin and the movie starts after previews right?? No 15 minutes then previews begin.. whatever ok.. that's just the beginning. We get thru the 10-15 minutes of previews and I'm here to see the new Demon Slayer movie but with Japanese audio w/ English subs. Movie starts playing.. English audio.. like really?? 30 minutes in now and they screen the wrong movie.. everyone in the theater is confused as we are and people go out to tell the staff. What a hassle. In the midst of all this.. frustrated.. let's go get some popcorn and soda while we wait. Try to salvage this crappy start. Go to buy a soda.. "sorry but our soda machines are out of carbonation so we don't have anything to sell. You can purchase a bottle of water or a body armour or energy drink..." like really.. crap.. fine I'll settle for the body armour.. out of their REFRIGERATOR.. hot. Like really?! Freakin horrible.. you got two things.. you sell movie tickets and concessions. Screwing up both parts of the service. Let's talk about how their IMAX theater room has the worst seats. Time for an update guys! You have nice recliners in the standard rooms but the IMAX experience is stunted by the horrible outdated seats. Uncomfortable! Will not come back to this theatre. Easy to book on the AMC app. I would really give that a try in the future rather than just showing up. I parked in the lot just adjacent to the theater. Not sure if I'm supposed to pay or not? The signs made it look like you pay at the meters for street parking, but I was in a lot. I had no idea really. I walk into the lobby and it seems pretty big! Very nice and decorated. From the looks of it all, it goes look pretty new. But events later would convince me that the place isn't all that new. I get into the theater and find out they're not recliners. Ugh...I hate to be uppity about it but all the other AMC theaters in the area (minus Surprise) all have recliners. Apparently this theater only has recliners in the Dolby digital rooms. So make sure to see that on the app that it lists if you'll get recliners or not. Movie was good and I made my way out. I even noticed alcohol at a bar too! As I walk to my car, I see the lot has been cordoned off and I can't get out the way I came in. I do see an exit sandwich board pointing me towards my way, but I'm confused. Maybe there was a game going on nearby? It is pretty close to the stadium. I just moved to the area so I'm really not so sure. But thankfully I could leave because I was afraid I would have to pay somehow. In the future, be weary of the parking. Being so close to a stadium, I'm sure that's why it was full to the bone and cordoned off when I left at 6:30 on a Wednesday night. I wish I could give you more info about it but it'll have to wait until my next visit. However I kind of want a recliner next time so I may have to go to a different theater. We'll see... read more

I'm a A list with AMC. It has it perks. The experience with this theater is there is always something wrong with the butter machine, food service issues or soda machine. My last visit to the theater was this Sunday. The problem this time was there was no ice in any of the machines. Things happen however it is 7 pm- the cashier could have told us as well as there could have been signs. So you have a soda without ice. The other thing that is annoying is the popcorn has been overcooked - burning smell/ taste. Because my hubby and I are AListers and this is the closest theater it's starting to become frustrating. Each time we go we tend to purchase number 1. Or chicken tenders. Each time there an issue - the chicken tenders may take 20 mins or no ice or drink machine broken. But I will say the seating is good. Various of options for showings to choose from. We go to movies often and had experiences in seeing shows in both upstairs and downstairs. I ordered the impossible nuggets from the concession stand, and they were awful. The cook burnt them to a crisp. How do you over cook chicken nuggets? Disgustingly dirty! Theater is filthy, food station is gross and bathrooms are appalling! Ticketing machines were all broken and it was difficult to purchase a ticket. Many customers were requesting help but staff was engaged in personal conversation. We ordered several items from snack bar and cashier was so confused by simple transaction that he ended up giving us a large popcorn- still not sure why. The only good thing was was Damien - he went above and beyond to help us - even escort us to the elevator. Great job Damien. I am not surprised that this company is financially in trouble. Severely understaffed, poor product quality, facilities in disrepair. In a prime location such as this I would have expected more. If you are willing to charge for a great movie experience ensuring that customer service on all levels should be a priority. It's so dirty here. There was trash and food everywhere in the theater. The seats also literally smell. I have never been in a Harkins theater that was even close to what it looked like here ( so go to Harkins!). Also, Harkins lets you take water in and I was told I couldn't. Hopefully they don't tell anyone anything with children who might need a certain type of water for their bottles, but who knows because they suck, so they probably would. This place is a joke. Ps- you might have to hold your head up and not feel comfortable putting it on the seats here which is totally "normal" because I didn't want to get bugs either. read more

I don't even know where to start. I always thought all movie theaters were created equal and congratulations AMC Westgate you proved me wrong. When I first arrived I couldn't see any employees. I stood around with my mobile ticket in hand for at least a minute without knowing where to go to scan it. Finally some employee yelled from far away that I need to buy a ticket and can't just walk in. I held up my phone and asked where to go. He grunted, slowly walked over to scan my ticket and then abruptly walked away without a word. He acted like I was totally inconveniencing him. It was awful customer service. This place is FILTHY. just trash and popcorn everywhere. The IMAX theater we were in clearly wasn't cleaned before the show it had trash piled in the cup holder and all over the floor. Saturday 7/1 with outside temps exceeding 110, the theatre had NO ICE in the dispensers. What kind of theatre has no ice? There was also popcorn all over the floor in the lobby and a few spilled drinks. The popcorn we got from the snack bar was cold and papery; I probably could have gotten better flavor from the cardboard box it was in. The theatre we were in didn't appear to have been cleaned in between showing as there was popcorn and wrappers still in the theatre. I can't believe I paid IMAX pricing for this theatre. Where do I start? The seats are old school - we were packed in like sardines. The floor carpet is so old you can barely see the lettering to find your row. And don't hold the handrail while you walk up the stairs....it's super sticky. Not what you expect from a cleanliness perspective at 10a. Speaking of which, the bathrooms. Out of order toilets, no paper towels, no seat protectors, and it looks like they maybe tried cleaning the counters but forgot to wipe of the cleanser. This is my experience. Yours may be different. After a lengthy absence from this location we came back to see The Rise of Skywalker in IMAX 3D. The actual movie presentation and seating were great. The rating is on the rest of the experience. The popcorn was burnt. It's always burnt and/or stale each time we've visited. Each time...every time. The line organization was half hazard and the concessions were frantic as usual. Since AMC went to kiosks for sodas it has never been pleasant. The hustle to get a soda in a line of undecided patrons is a true hassle. The resulting chaos of the lid and straw area, combined with the sticky floor and counters, is awful. The bathrooms almost always smell like urine when they don't smell like poo. The staffing is always low and even though this was a major movie event it was still seemed low. I think eventually they will only have staff to remove debris from the theaters as I've seen the number of staff shrink over the years with the move to kiosk drinks and tickets. Summary: if IMAX was in other theaters here I would never be back. Update: after I posted my review I checked out the others. Good lord this place has issues and I can easily see a trend. read more

IMAX has uncomfortable, non-reclining seats and seems to think high quality audio is just a synonym for being ear-piercingly loud (and I'm hard of hearing). $30 for 2 tickets with the matinee discount ($5 convenience fee is absurd). Soft drink machines didn't have ice and the soda was flat on top of being $27 for 2 drinks and some churro bites. Half the urinals were out of order. Theaters better step up their game if they don't want to fade into irrelevancy. Waiting a few weeks and paying $20 to rent a new release on Prime Video is starting to look like a better option than $58 (not an exaggeration) for 2 tickets, 2 sodas and 5 churro bites read more

We have all been to the movies where you see someone sweeping up popcorn off the floor and perhaps wiping down the drink and butter station... Well I guess this movie theater missed that all together. Not only was the entire place a mess and my popcorn was cold and I made the mistake of going to put butter on my popcorn. YUCK two employees bent over changing huge white boxes of butter. At first I was like ok no problem... until I saw they were touching the spout with their bare hand. Similar to if you were changing a big 5 gallon water station and you placed the long spout in a new water container. COME ON!! At a minimum put on gloves and sweep the floor. I get it.... It's Westgate on a weekend, a hockey game and school is out for the holiday.. so it's busy, but you can clearly see it was a slow night so why the mess??? I've seen a lot of movies at this theater, and overall it is a nice place. Modern, good seats, very spacious lobbies, etc. My last few trips there have not been very good experiences, though. They've cut down on front-of-the-house staff. Ticket purchases are done at kiosks, and if you stand there long enough a staff member will eventually show up to assist you. The process is simple enough, unless you're trying to use an AMC movie pass, then it's hit or miss. I went last week to see Left Behind, which shows on their website as a limited engagement but has gone well beyond the initial 4 days. Movie was scheduled for 3 pm, I arrived a little after 2 and doors were locked. Their own website shows they open doors at 8 am. I walked around Westgate and went back at 2:25, doors still locked. I called their phone number twice, no answer. So I left. I called later in the day out of curiosity and was told they had opened at 2:30. I went back a few days later, "limited engagement" was still on and since it was a later showing, the doors were open. Turns out my AMC movie pass isn't valid for this "special engagement," but no problem, I have gift cards from Christmas. Concession stand was manned by one person, but there were not many customers so the wait wasn't bad. The popcorn was though - it was cold. The movie was showing in one of their upstairs theaters. While the theaters on the main floor are pretty nice, the ones upstairs are not. They're tiny, feel claustrophobic, and smell bad. The seats are all too close to the screen. So while I enjoyed the film, I did not enjoy my day at the movie theater. read more

The theater temperature was almost comfortable compared to the Surprise AMC that turns off the A/C one hour into a movie (this happened 3 times in the last 2 months). Went to see a movie yesterday and, after it hadn't started for 25 minutes, a patron had to go out to ask what was happening. Finally, after 35 minutes someone finally came in to tell us the movie would not be shown and we could get refunds. To add instill to injury, we had to wait in line for 20 minutes. The system would not recognize the credit card I had used and the worker created a gift card instead. When I tried to use it, the card number was not recognized. Went to this theater for a 930a showing of Jurassic World Dominion. When arrived at 850a, the doors were locked and a sign saying they didn't open until 930a. Finally a worker unlocked the door at 9a which also was supposed to be one checking tickets. Thankfully another worker came over and was checking the line of people's tickets as the one that unlocked the door then went to operate the concessions. As a stubs premier member you are supposed to get a free upgrade to large popcorn/drink(s) from the regular size. When ordered large popcorn and 3 drinks for my party they only had the regular sized cups and blamed it on a late rush last night. Mind you this is opening weekend of Jurassic World Dominion and we were the first ones in concession line. Once we had our drink cups/popcorn we went to the soda machines of which weren't working and 2 of the 3 working ones only had half the options. As we went to put butter on the popcorn the 2 butter pourers by the working soda machines had no butter. The other 2 on the other side of the concession area you could tell were running low. As we walked in the theater auditorium itself there was literally no light to see the row letters or seat numbers, not even the screen was lit. The ac also was not yet turned on. At about 920a the screen was finally turned on with green dots that was hard on the eyes and kept flipping through that. Then they finally turned on lights for people to see a few minutes later. When 930a hit, it came and went without even the previews being started. It was 948a before the previews even started. I get staffing is low due to reduced tickets being sold/high employee costs, but when its an opening weekend for a big blockbuster like a Jurassic Park or even Top Gun movie, you should be prepared. I'm just glad when I went to see Top Gun Maverick twice last week, that these problems did not exist. When you pay to be a stubs premier member, you shouldn't be told that the perks aren't available without some kind of discount. read more
