Neighborhood bar lots of regulars. Your drink prices depend upon the bartender it seems. If you're paying with credit, watch your tab. It gets very busy, There is karaoke most nights. The only food they offer frozen pizzas, but you can bring your own food and snack in. We've been there during the afternoon and it's a better place day drink for me. read more

Just a slight correction, I didn't realize they did serve a little something. I guess it's because I never saw anyone eating save the folks next to me that brought their own snacks. I did find that odd, but now I understand. I would still rather see food served, variations of finger food would be great. Loss of star, no food. Suggestions, maybe even little quick.Mini microwave pizzas or something along those lines right. Overall what a fun fun place. I went to cheer on a friend of mine for karaoke, and I had the best time. This, I cannot stress enough because I recently lost my husband and everyone there made me feel so so good. A truly foul establishment. I was groped by an older man who is supposedly a regular. When I asked him if he meant to grab me, he immediately denied anything occurring. My husband was then told by multiple patrons that this man "wouldn't do something like that". We were promptly cut off and kicked out and I was shouted at by another older man at the bar as we were leaving. I will never be returning, everyone I know will be made aware of what happened here, and I will never be belittled into not standing up for myself. If you value your money, morals, and bodily autonomy, don't come here. read more

Speakeasy is simply a nice small pub type bar where people can visit, watch sports or other programs, play some shuffleboard and do karaoke. It is a similar place to Cheers tv bar where friends go to meet and share a drink. It is not a restaurant, but they do serve pizza and snacks. Generally, an older crowd is there but they're nice and supportive of karaoke singers. Go and enjoy. read more

I met a friend at the Speakeasy in Sun City. He arrived first. M sent me a text that said "when you get here, I'm in the back. Look for the black guy". I called him and asked if he was the only black guy in the place. He said "Yep". I arrived. The Speakeasy isn't easy to find on any map application. It takes you around the east rear of the strip mall. I drove around the front and located it under a sign that said Grand Center. That made sense. There is no real signage except on the door. I parked and walked in. It was about 9pm on a Saturday. I was immediately hit with the sounds of country Karaoke going on. Someone was wailing out their heart out off-key to some country-western tune while the bar was filled with senior citizens in polyester and jeans. You can imagine the ambiance. They seemed to be having a good time. A couple of guys sitting at the bar waved me over to sit with them. I shook my head. M picked the place. This was supposed to be a first date. Since he loved karaoke and had never been there, it made sense to check it out. I looked toward the back and M was sitting there. He was indeed the only Black man in the place. In fact, he was the only person of any ethnicity besides "white, not Hispanic" in the place. Some people at the bar turned to look at him. He looked very uncomfortable. I walked up to M, gave him a big hug and kiss on the cheek, and sat down. That caused more people to stare. M looked at me, I stared down the others. A cheerful server from the bar came right over, took our drink order, and delivered it promptly.. the Speakeasy does not serve food so if you are looking for bar food and drinks, you are out of luck. We spoke for a while and M was turned to look at me. I was sitting looking forward, looking at him and also watching the karaoke going on at the other side of the bar. Apparently this night was being DJ'd by Cowboy Dan. As I said, the seniors at the bar were having a great time. Several seemed to know each other. Sun City is not known for its nightlife so the Speakeasy is one of the few places people in this area can go for a friendly drink and night out on a Saturday without having to drive 30 minutes or more. However, Sun City isn't exactly known for its ethnic diversity, either. The more M and I sat there trying to get to know each other, the more stares we got. M was growing increasingly uncomfortable by the minute. And I was growing increasing indignant staring them down. I hadn't been out on a real date since my husband died 4 years ago and it was going downhill fast. So I just said to M, "you want to get out of here"? He looked up at me, obviously relieved, and nodded his head. He looked over at the server, paid the bill and we left. Unfortunately, there are not many other places to go along Grand Avenue between Surprise and el Mirage, unless you plan to have a full meal, fast food, fix your car, get gas, or shop for groceries. So M and I continued our conversation outside for a half hour and ultimately sat in my car another 45 minutes since my shoes were killing me. Then, we cut the evening short, said our goodbyes and I was home by 11. I checked in with my kids to let them know I was still alive and went to bed. read more

I love this fun bar, hidden in plain sight. The owner is second generation and a very sweet girl. I love the bartenders. I almost hate to review The Speakeasy and let the secret out but it's perfect for a cold beer or a mixed drink and they have karaoke on weekend nights. They will make you a frozen pizza hahaha and I've eaten a couple but mostly just chips. I recommend this fun place read more

Here at the Speakeasy on Thursdays & Friday Nights is the Best Karaoke in town! Arie Does a Great show, mixes Every song and Every singer- the sound is adjusted for all..not just left for all to suffer through. She has real sound processors to add those cool effects that the real singers enjoy. Not just a lil reverb or echo, she has it all and uses it. Some, of course, prefer just the basics, but that's the beauty of it- The singer gets a say in their sound- imagine that ; ) The sound is awesome and monitored so as not to be too loud. Even breaks out a DB meter! She gets out in the crowd too often to ensure the sound is good..who does that! It's a 4 hour show and it's worth it. The Thursday crowd is mostly elderly and Crooners and 70's, love it! Friday's crowd is some of that and 80's/90's. Not really the place if you like to scream in the Mic or like to swear in your songs - no rap or Hip Hop going on. They draw A LOT of VGS or Very Good Singers! Have to say, I've been all over town and honestly couldn't point you to a better place to go sing karaoke - not just blowing smoke! They don't serve food here, just frozen pizza, but they don't mind if some is delivered.. Lots of parties come here too. The place has that old school- everybody's friends- atmosphere. I've been going there just about 2 years now and have met so many wonderful people and so many friends. The Owner has straightened this place out and removed all the trashy dishonest! The Management and ALL the staff are top shelf people and work their tails off. Just go check it out on a Thursday and or Friday and you will find out for yourself! This a a great place for cheap drinks and friendly service! It is in Sun City so expect an older crowd. The age range changes a bit on the weekends. They also are very well set up to handle a crowd during the pandemic with dividers to help with social distancing. All the bartenders are fantastic! My favorite hangout! read more

This place has the vibes but lowkey sucks and way overpriced but that's just my opinion.

The bartender who works on Friday nights and runs that place by herself is amazing. I really don't know how she did it! She was being the hostess, waitress, busser, dishwasher, bar back, cashier and bartender, all while doing an amazing job. The place was packed and she was keeping up great. Also, with a front and back entrance, she had to watch for customers coming in both entrances. She greeted them all promptly. She knew a lot of the regulars. Seems that the small pitchers of beer are the popular item here. I also really enjoyed the specials even though they were out of several of them. The happy hour was 8am to 4pm so it is great for the people who like to day drink! The music was great (80s rock) and it was dark so the environment was fun and a place you wanted to stay at. My husband and I, two grown daughters, grand daughter, 18 years old, entered this bar to meet up with someone on vacation from our old hometown. Went to sit at a table far away from he bar in the middle of the day. We were treated rudely by waitress, told we couldn't have our granddaughter in there. She was disrespectful to all of us. I think she was mean and rude. Don't go there the staff doesn't want to make money. There is no law that prohibits minors in bars in Arizona. read more

Perfect place to come no matter what age you are. Also a plus you can bring in your own food without any issues, it's actually encouraged. Great place to watch Packers games on Sundays! They had a make your own Bloody Mary bar and complimentary nachos. Loved it, will be back!

Decided to check this place out while visiting family in Phoenix. Location is in a shopping mall & not easy to find as signage was either a small banner & or name written on a flip chalk board on sidewalk offset from door. Once inside it was very crowded. As another poster mentioned it is certainly an older crowd. Less than 10 ppl under 50 in the joint. They had a band which was pretty decent just wished they could of turned the volumn down a touch so I didn't have to scream at my family member across the table from me. Two bottles of domestic beer was $6 which seemed normal like pricing. I probably won't be back but it was overall ok place. read more
