Tip: If you contact them because of Groupon, don't purchase the Groupon until they show up and give you the free estimate. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Shimmy took care of me, but I know everyone in the company is very professional, honest, and fair. I had an issue with my car (a VW Jetta) key and the ignition, it was hard finding someone who could help me. I called GUL and they met me all the way in Frisco! I called, they would not give me a rough estimate over the phone, said they would give me a free estimate when he arrived. (fine). When he arrived, I was told it was going to be almost $500 for 3 doors for re-keying. Others in the area quoted me $85 for the service call, and $15 per keyed lock (est: $160 w/out tax for my home). I told the technician this and he said it was what it would cost. I objected at the insane price, told him what I have paid before, and then he immediately said it must be a computer download problem on his touch-pad software, and then gave me a quote of $270.00. I believe it was intended to take advantage of me and squeeze as much as he could for 3 simple re-keyed doors. (Sorry, but I'm not an uneducated/uninformed house-wife with extra money that doesn't know what she's doing). To top it off he wanted a tip for the work when he completed the work. (ugh!). If it weren't imperative that I needed the keys done so quickly I would have waited and utilized someone else. BEWARE, and watch your quotes. He didn't even honor the discount of a new move-in, because "I didn't tell them when requesting the job initially" (then why did he mention it to me and then refuse?)... NOT good business practices. Excellent service and very quick for me. I locked myself out of my rental car in North Dallas, next to Galleria, and because it was an older model, did not have the feature where it beeps when you leave your key inside. They got to my location within 40 minutes of calling, around 6:30 pm (rush hour time), it was quick and easy, got my door popped within 5 minutes. A little bit pricey, but I got what I needed in a decent time frame and that's what I really need in a pinch when I have somewhere to be. Called Giddy Up Locksmith because my mom accidentally locked us out the house while we were both in the garage. They promptly answered the phone and informed us that a technician would be contacting up shortly. Carl called and informed us he was on the way, I asked for a quote and he said it all depends on what he has to do. So as soon as he arrived he stated that it would be $45 for the service call and $75 to open the door which is $120 total. Seems pretty high but we're locked out so we're basically at their mercy, unfortunately. Literally takes him 2 minutes and we're back inside. Then the total goes from $120 to $130 then to $140 with taxes when it's time to run my card. I immediately repeat the original prices back and he says "no sir, it's $140 with tax", and I called him out for the change in prices THREE times in a matter of 5 minute transaction start to finish. I paid the $140 and call it a night. Carl then calls back and says "you're right sir, it's supposed to be $130 so we credited $10 back to your card. If you use this company CLEARLY recite the prices back to them AND write them down for clarify so there is no confusion when it comes time to pay for their services. I'll definitely never use them again and I wouldn't recommend you use them either. read more

Outrageous! Purchased a Groupon to have locks re-keyed in our new home. The technician was late arriving by at least 45 minutes. When he finally got to our house the fee to rekey the locks was out of this world. Let's just say I could have bought two locks at HomeDepot for the cost he quoted. To top it off, he wanted to charge a service fee above what was quoted in the groupon and on their website even though we were in the mile radius advertised. We said no thanks and asked him to leave. Wonderful experience! They're a little pricey (only reason why I didn't give 5 stars), but they do not make you wait long and they'll do a great job. Eli climbed a 10ft privacy fence to get me back in my house. That is dedication. Bought a Groupon to have mailbox lock changed. Groupon was $35 for $75 of service. Instead of subtracting $75 from the total the guy was only going to subtract $35. Employees should be trained on how Groupon works. I canceled the order and then contacted Groupon and was given a refund. read more

Locked my keys in the car, when I called the told me the price would be $65, but when Eli arrived he tried to charge me $115 , then $90, and finally $80. I refused to pay $115 for something that took him less than one minute to do. For them to give me a set price over the phone then arrive and charge me more is ridiculous. If this ever happens again I will never go back to this place nor will I recommend anyone. read more

CROOKS! So I called this company to get a quote. You have to provide certain info to get one: address, etc. I told them I wanted to call around first, so NO THANKS. So I called another company and decided to go with them. They said they would be there in about 15 minutes. About 10 minutes later the locksmith showed up. BTW remember they say they will beat any price. He said it would be $135 which was not what was quoted but what could I do. He was there. So he spend all of 2 minutes drilling out a bathroom door lock. He said he preferred cash, so I got $135 in cash. No he said it is $150 - that includes the $15 service charge. I told him I would have to write a check then because I did not have $150 in cash. So he said he would take $135. He left. Then the door bell rings and the locksmith is there. What? Well here is what happened. The first locksmith (that I did not hire) came anyway. No wonder he was in such a hurry. CROOKS CROOKS CROOKS. Not just because of the price but because I TOLD THEM I WAS GOING TO CALL ELSEWHERE AND THEY CAME ANYWAY! read more
