We had another company come out to check our heat this past winter... they said we needed a new system for 23,000 - they refused to hook everything back up saying it was too dangerous. I called a contractor friend and he suggested I call Gibson. I am so glad I did - they came out, chaecked and cleaned the system, gave it a good tune up and everything work perfect for under 400. Brian Gibson is the worst contractor I have experienced in 15 years building real-estate. Him and Danny the salesmen will scam you they charged us 16,000 for a project paid them 60 percent then they abandon the site while coming back and stealing the equipment from the job site. Hold your money from these fools go to contractors board or Timberedge for better service all around. read more

About a year ago, I called Gibson Heating when my A/C stopped working. They diagnosed a faulty motor and replaced it. Fast forward to this summer when I started using the fan, I noticed it was running at a slower speed than before. I contacted Gibson again and was told that if the issue was simply a correction from the previous install, there would be no charge, but if it required a new repair, then a fee would apply. A technician named Trent came out, explained that there are multiple fan speed settings, and went into the attic for about 5 minutes to make the adjustment. When he came back, he said he needed to check whether there would be a charge. Shortly after, he returned with a quote for $240. $120 for a service call and $120 for the so-called "repair." I was caught off guard, especially since no parts were replaced and it took mere minutes. I refused to sign the quote that he provided after the fact, but Trent told me I had to pay, so I did. I later called and spoke with Brian (CEO). He said he would review the recorded phone call. When he called me back, he told me the call was "all over the place," but insisted that since the motor had been installed to factory specs, the charge was valid. He did agree to reduce the fee to just the $120 service charge, which I appreciate. However, one of his comments really bothered me he said, "We didn't force you to pay." That felt dismissive and disingenuous, considering the tech stood in my home expecting payment and didn't make it feel optional. I was told there wouldn't be a charge unless a repair was needed. Adjusting a setting seems more like a correction to the previous install than a real repair. More importantly, none of this was explained clearly up front. If they had just said from the start it would cost $240 no matter what, I could have made an informed decision. Now I'm waiting on a $120 refund. Hopefully, they follow through. Unfortunately, this last experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Honest pricing and clear communication are essential, neither of which I felt I got from Gibson Heating. read more

I called Gibson to come check an air conditioner that wasn't giving as much cool air as it should. while the repairman was here i asked him to service both air conditioners in my house. He was a nice young man, worked on both units and then told me I was low on Freon and he would get me a quote to refill it and check for leaks and also get me a quote on replacing the unit since it was 17 years old. He also said i needed to have my coil chemically cleaned in my other air conditioner and he would get me a quote on that. After hearing nothing for over a week I called Gibson today and asked about my quotes. The guy who answered said they "can't get R22 coolant anymore" so the unit needs to be replaced. I told him I could get R22 so I don't think he was telling me the truth. He restated that they might be able to get R22 but choose not to. He said he was unaware they were supposed to quote me a new unit or quote me to clean the other coil. He offered no apology, was very matter of fact, and didn't offer a resolution. I assured him I would give them a yelp review that would be commensurate with the service I got. I'm out $225, and I am not sure I trust what the repairman told me at this point so I guess I'll have to find another HVAC company and hope they're more reputable than Gibson Heating and Air have become. We used Gibson Heating and Air a few years ago to install a new unit in one of our rentals and they did good work and provided good service. Not sure what happened but I wouldn't recommend them now for sure! read more

May 15, 2024 - Gibson's Heating and Air got us in very quickly for a service call. Matthew, our tech came out and was able to diagnose the problem quickly and get our A/C up and running. We have used other Air Conditioning companies in the past that did shoddy work or were very expensive. This is the second time we have used Gibson's. They are quick to respond and their prices are very good. We would highly recommend them! read more

Called another place and they came the next day and fixed it....cost $300.00. They use to be good when the founder Mr Gibson ran it. They never called me. Gibson does not sell over the counter motor run capacitors.

Awful. I gave these guys a good review for promptly showing up. They said they fixed the issue and an hour later the condenser almost blew up. You could tell there were serious problems with the system. The tech told me he replaced the condenser motor and the fan motor which was not true. They show up three days later and tell me that they have to replace the condenser motor and it will take about a week to receive the part. Can you all afford to spend two weeks in a hotel because it's 98 degrees in your home? read more

Value received: 11 minute drive to my house 5 minutes for me to tell the tech what the problem was and for him to confirm it. 15 minutes to install the $40 part. Amount charged: $377 Price gouging at its finest. Complained to office. Office said they would respond. They did not. A week later they called and modified the charge. Please look elsewhere when searching for AC repair. We had an absolutely AWFUL experience with this company! We originally called for a diagnostic call on our unit, the repairman who came out never fully diagnosed the problem (didn't look at the line fully) and told us it was a leak he fixed at the beginning of the line... and he added some coolant to the unit. $600 worth. Well, a short time after he left the house again started heating up even when we were running cool meaning there was more leaks somewhere causing all that $600 of coolant to leak out steadily (and now the fan wouldn't turn off AT ALL, which never was an issue before) so I called immediately and asked for him to return to fix it but he couldn't fit me into his schedule so they booked me a different tech who came out a week later. This guy told me that there was a problem with the blower motor that should've been diagnosed initially (which it wasn't), basically insisted that we need to replace the unit completely. While he was under the house checking things, he started a small fire that completely filled the house with smoke so that was a fun time for me and the kids. I understand things happen though, so I don't hold that part against them. We were extremely disappointed with the lack of follow through and integrity that this company displayed for us. If the diagnostic would've been done properly in the first place we may have chosen to replace it and put the $600 towards a new unit. I asked for a refund since not only was the initial problem not solved but they actually MADE IT WORSE- a fan that won't turn off now and blows hot air in to the house during Redding's summers. Yay. The company gave me $80 of my membership fee back (the whole cost for the membership was $150), they completely neglected to take any responsibility for the problems they created. I felt from the beginning that this company only wanted the "sell sell sell" the very first words out of the first tech's mouth was "yeah, this new air filter will cost $17..." I just feel so overwhelmed by this and am hoping to save some people some angst! We have been stationed all over the world and have never been treated so poorly by any company, it is very upsetting. Late this morning (Saturday, August 11, 2018) we found our AC wasn't working. We called Gibson Heating and Air, and they came out within an hour. Kieran worked on our AC unit and found it was a blown capacitor. It was a fast repair, he wasn't even here 30 minutes. We're up and cooling again! The bill was reasonable. Our home had the original heating unit from 1960 and AC from the 80's with floor registers and issues with the duct work. Gibson completely removed the old system, installed a new system in the attic and sealed up the old registers. We now have an all new, energy efficient unit that heats and cools our home comfortably and even has an app on our phones to adjust as needed. They worked well with and had great recommendations for other professionals like an electrician and insulation installers. The staff were prompt, courteous, professional and cleaned up after themselves. They were responsive to any questions that we brought up. We would highly recommend this company! read more

Manny provided all the details with great patience and excellent product knowledge. Colt & Jessie showed up couple days later and ready set go. Last week our air conditioner broke when it was 110 degrees outside. We have a 1 year old and I am 7 months pregnant. Gibson was the only company who would come out the same day! Their tech was professional and prompt. This week a separate part on our AC went out, again leaving us with no air on a very hot summer day. Gibson made sure to rearrange their schedule and get a tech out within 2 hours to fix it. I am SO grateful for this amazing company and their exceptional customer service!!!! I would recommend Gibson to everyone. I was in and out of heat for 4 days during Christmas. I had a local company out and with 3 visits he couldn't find the problem. Finally on the 4th day he thought he found the problem. He ordered a part that he thought was the problem. I didn't know when the part would come in. I didn't understand why it wasn't overnighted. I didn't know how long I would be without heat. Nothing was said. I called Gibson and within 10 -15 minutes Rob found the problem got the part and fixed it. WORSTA/C COMPANY IN REDDING, BUYERS BEWARE! BAD SERVICE AND DISHONEST. Priced FAR above their ample competition, Gibson Heating and Air stands out only as an example of how ready some companies are to over charge their customers for shoddy installation, AWFUL customer service and a complete lack of service after the sale. In short, our company paid THROUGH THE NOSE for Gibson to install a top of the line heating and air system in our 2,000 sq foot warehouse. We paid travel time for installation, MORE than competition pricing for equipment and service and in the end we were FAR from pleased with the outcome. Missing seals on vents and duct work made our system leak air and fail to cool the building. The thermostat they installed was defective and getting them to come to our location to fix it was a nightmare. They ended up having to come do HOURS of work to fix the awful job their techs did on the install and even then it was not done right (thank goodness we were still on warranty at that time). We ended up having a local Father and Son team come after the Gibson team to do the RIGHT job, making us wish we had just gone with them from day one. SO, why did we choose Gibson when they were overpriced? Why would anyone take the higher bid for a job? Well, the answer is easy: a former employee of theirs (a soldier deployed in Afghanistan at the time) told us that Gibson had promised him a job when he got home from war. The soldier even nominated Gibson for an award from the Feds for being "supportive to veterans." SO we chose Gibson as kind of an "atta boy" for holding the job of a deployed soldier. We told Jay Gibson (who came up himself and helped with the CRAPPY installation job) that we chose his company because of what he was doing for the soldier. He took all the praise and shook our hands, telling us that he was glad to do it and thought more employers should support veterans. Well, we found out that when that soldier came home Gibson avoided his calls (despite the fact that they were advertising on Craigslist for the position the soldier would have filled) and did not end up hiring him back or telling him why the deal had changed. What a SHAM! Absolutely dishonest. Talk about making a buck by misleading the customer AND a war hero. But that just goes to show you what kind of people run this company. Flash forward 2 years and we are STILL having problems with the unit they installed. We called them today to see if they would stand behind their work and the VERY SNOTTY office staff (the kind of people who say things like "Well, do you want us to come or NOT because we have other things to do" ... not exaggerating) told us that we were past our installation/service/equipment warranty time and that we would have to pay $100/hour drive time and labor time plus $85 for the service call PLUS parts. We went ahead and called our Father and Son team and they did the whole job for $170 ($70 in parts). Again, what a joke. Do yourself a favor and hire ANYONE but Gibson. The combination of bad service, shoddy installation, rude office staff and lack of patriotism and common decency makes for a lousy company to go with for such a large investment. read more

Rob tried to force me to pay them in full before they had even had the ducts tested or everything inspected. Now refuses to return the paper work that came with the heater and condenser so I can send the warranty stuff in or file for the city rebate. They think you must pay in full then wait and see if they ever complete the job. RUN DON'T WALK! read more

Techs came out to diagnose a vacation rental unit. The current guest had claimed the heater wasn't working. The techs took almost 3 hours at the house in the morning and then just up and left. I was not present at the property but watching the surveillance camera here and there during the diagnostic. They didn't notify me that they left it unrepaired before they left; No call to tell me their "diagnosis". End of day I place a call to their office after the guests told me the heating tech didn't repair anything. The office lady had to pull up the notes and tried to understand them enough to relay them to me. then tells me that it's too late in the day to find out what the repair estimate is going to be and that the repair will be very extensive, and that she doesn't know when (they will know) how much it will cost to repair it. They issued me an invoice for that first visit for just under $400. I got a phone call from them the next morning claiming that they wanted to send out another set of techs (again) to diagnose the unit. They would be reversing the random changes on the invoice and only expected to pay the diagnosis fee of $95. In the second appt, The same exact scenario played out again, they were there for hours, they did not contact me, I had to reach back out to the office again, later in the day and I was told that my whole unit would need to be replaced or I would have to pay close to $4000 for a repair...!?? I was in awe so then when I asked for the replacement cost they told me, I had to schedule a yet another appointment for that, a they were at least a week out.... Meanwhile it was understood the people staying in the house were without heat, nights were in the 30s... (for several days while they play act the three stooges.). I was frustrated with their disorganized office and procedures so I contacted another heating company and has them out and to our surprise they said the unit was working fine. Nothing to Repair. My conclusion is that the guests who were there temporarily were trying to get a discount on their rate so they made up the story that the unit wasn't working... on top of it, Gibson came out and tried to take advantage of the situation by forcing me into a complete new heater. (Unbelievable) since their "diagnosis" for a brand new heating system, The original heater has been working completely fine with no repairs. BEWARE. I completely was almost ripped off had I not got a second opinion.... saved me tens of thousands of unnecessary money spent. read more

We bought our unit thru Gibson and their products and service are exceptional. After 12 yrs we had a problem with our heat pump. It was June 30, 2015 and the temp topped out at 115. There was a string of super hot days proceeding that. Just our luck, our air cond went out. Thought we were going to die. It was after hours so I couldn't call until the next morning. What a miserable night. I was so worried we wouldn't get help for a few days. I called several companies and we would have to wait for several days. I called Gibson and they came out that day. Our AC unit blew a capacitor (I didn't even know what that was before) on a Sunday night, and the next day's high temp was supposed to be around 110. We had fan, but no cooling. We were already trying to come up with options, particularly for our two indoor cats, when I called Gibson first thing Monday morning. They were able to get a technician out within an hour. Rob immediately spotted the problem, explained it to me clearly, and came up with a solution that also fixed an earlier botched repair and will reduce future strain on my AC motor. He quoted me a price, installed the part that was in his truck, and was on his way. The service was truly flawless, from end to end.
