HORRIBLE COMPANY!!!!!!!! they have been to my house 4 different times in the past 3 weeks and never fixed anything. still have no ac in August when it's 110 outside. they said they could come back and have it fixed and then fed us some bs excuse that they have a contract with the schools and are not able to come out when they said they would To fix it. horrible company I would not recommend them to my worst enemy....... read more

Don't get me wrong, that didn't stop me from calling Phil Carpenters A/C & Heating and I am SO glad I did! Folks, these reviews right here, are legit! Our furnace wasn't working correctly and our gas fireplace chose just that time to start acting up as well, so I did what one does when you don't know who to call; I came to Yelp. We reviewed multiple companies and decided, based off of the reviews, to call Phil Carpenters. I spoke with Brandon when I called to see if they service my area (far Eastern Shasta County, WELL outside of Redding). He was very friendly, helpful, he asked a lot of good questions about the problems we were having, confirmed that they do service my area and scheduled me promptly for service. He told me who to expect and what time to expect them. Guys, this is not Dish or Direct that give a 6 hour window of when their tech MAY arrive. Brandon told me that Andrew would be here at 8am (which I really doubted because of where we live), and a few minutes before 8, Andrew arrived! He was on time (early), knowledgeable, skilled, polite, explained the problems we had been having, and fixed EVERYTHING! If that was not enough the service fee was incredibly reasonable! I had an urgent A/C breakdown on a Saturday morning (during a heatwave of course), and called this company for help based on good Yelp reviews. Someone did respond within 1.5 hours to say the earliest a tech could come out to assess was 3 days later. I messaged back asking if they had weekend call outs as I had Airbnb guests staying in my home. NO RESPONSE. I messaged requesting to schedule the app't. in 3 days. NO RESPONSE. They may be good once they schedule and show up, but I'll never know nor will I try them again. read more

Could not say enough good things about this company. They installed a Bosch inverter roof-top package unit and it's awesome. This new unit is so quiet, I can't believe we lived with the original (NOISEY) unit for over 15 years. Visiting my 90 year old aunt and her heating went out. Called Phil Carpenter's and was told they could have someone out the next morning first thing. When I explained it was for an elderly homeowner, Brandon said he would see what he could do. Called back a few hours later and said he could have a tech swing by. Took Andrew a bit to isolate the intermittent problem but found a couple of things that were not running optimally. Explained everything very well and replaced the parts and she's been warm since. I was seen promptly after requesting service when my air conditioner was turning off before reaching the set temperature. A diagnostic review of my unit revealed some loose wires and the compartment cover was missing a screw. The technician seemed very knowledgeable. read more

I do not normally write reviews. But, I just had the most amazing experience with Phil Carpenters A/C & Heating. Our heater went out Wednesday morning and I had another trusted company schedule me for possibly Thursday but, more than likely Friday morning. It has been down in the 30's at night so the house was cold. We called Phil's Thursday morning and he checked with his field technicians for a possible appointment Thursday. We were promptly squeezed in Thursday afternoon. Tom Taylor promptly showed up on time and began the service call. He was courteous, and explained what he was doing and why. He found the issue was a circuit board after checking the other components and went and got a new circuit board at the parts purveyor, returned and installed the board. Then tested all of the components to assure they were not part of the problem. I was extremely surprised they were able to show up so quickly and get the replacement part today and then repair the unit today so we did not have to suffer another freezing night. Do not hesitate to call them for service. Honest, prompt and experienced. read more

This was our second time to use Phil Carpenter's A/C & Heating Service. They sent Tom both times. Tom struck me as a highly knowledgeable and experienced A/C tech. My A/C problem was intermitent, so i already knew it was not going to be an easy fix regardless which tech they sent. Although, Tom was not able to pin down the problem exactly, because my system was not throwing a trouble code, he did share what could likely be the issue, along with some great tips to prevent the unit from failing again. Phil and his crew have done a HVAC Install and re-duct for me in the past. They did a great job at a very good price. I have referred friends to them and they have always been treated well. I used to work in HVAC sales and have been maintaining my own HVAC Unit. Well, it suddenly quit working on a hot day. I called Phil and he was able to get me on the schedule quickly. His tech came out and quickly determined what the problem was and corrected it. His tech was organized, very competent, thorough, polite, and communicated well. I can't say enough about this well run company. I had them install a new mini split heating and cooling unit and change out a thermostat on my regular central air. So two separate residential units, both different and separate. I know a little about a lot of things and was convinced that the guy I talked to (Dan Borland) knew his stuff about my new unit, Honeywell remotely operated thermostats, HVAC technical matters etc. One of those people that have such a depth of knowledge and broad history of experiences that they make complicated things sound simple. No brainer to go with them. I had spoken with several others and it was night and day difference in professionalism, knowledge, customer service. Ive had to do a little follow up service to get things dialed in properly and they were more than willing to accomplish that. My longer existing central unit just had a problem and I called all around trying to get someone to help. How about next week, in two weeks etc. (had only left a voice message for Phil Carpenters and was starting to panic as it was approaching 100 degrees outside). Phil Carpenter's called me back, Dan in fact and had someone out to my house within the half hour. Phill crew just installed a complete A/C system they got started at 6am worked feverishly until 3:30 pm ,very nice people,hard workers,did an excellent job cleaning up ,My house is so cool now they up graded the unit to a energy effient model it's quiet and runs half as much as the old one,I can't say enough about Phils crew read more

In 2007-2008 I worked in residential HVAC Sales for another local company. During that time I learned a few things about the industry, how systems work, efficiency, rebates, estimating, installation, service, and how the sales process works. I enjoyed the job but found that with my height and size crawling around in attics and basements was not really a good "Fit" for me. After a busy year in the HVAC field I started a career in insurance. In about 2010 I needed a re-duct of my home. I had been introduced to Phil Carpenter and one of his employees by a trusted friend. I had him look at the project and give me a bid for a solution. I liked the options that he gave me and the pricing. His crew did the re-duct on time and on budget. The work was professional. My home and family were treated with respect and attention to detail. I was a very satisfied customer. A couple of years later my aged system needed to be replaced. Once again I had Phil look at the job and give me some proposals. Once again I found his solution and pricing to be exactly what I was looking for. Once again his crew did an outstanding job. I was completely satisfied with the work and the way that I and my home were treated. Phil and Dan were also becoming friends as we have some shared interests. Now in June 2015 one of my best friends had their AC suddenly go out on one of the hottest days so far. I recommended Phil. Phil was able to very quickly diagnose the problem.
