This Giant is absolutely filthy. The sidewalk and parking lot are littered with trash and there are beggars at the door every day. It smells terrible. The floors are dirty. The whole place is a wreck. We can't buy frozen goods at this store because they have, obviously, been thawed and refrozen. Ice cream bars are just puddles. I hate to think about frozen fish or meat. The fish department is rancid. Smells like dirty underwear. Just a really icky place all around. Avoid at ALL COSTS. read more

I've never been to a grocery store technically inside a mall. I though it was weird to pull up here and not see and entrance right from the parking lot. Instead you have to go inside and walk up the corridor to enter the store. Once inside, it feels just like you came into the store from outside, but it felt so odd to have a grocery store as an anchor store for a mall. Nothing wrong with it, just my first time seeing this. I honestly do not remember why I came in here. And if you do come here and want to hit the mall, make sure that Giant is your last stop before leaving. I mean, you don't want your perishables to go bad by the time you finish with the rest of the mall. I'm still not sure which is the best grocery store in this area. I mean, this feels familiar in name, coming from an area where Giant Eagle is big. But a partial name is all they really share. The deals aren't always the greatest, but they do have a loyalty card. I see that you can use that a nearby gas stations for fuel discounts. In the search for my grocery store, this will not be it. read more

This location is pretty convenient - it's inside a mall! Judging from the surrounding area I wasn't expecting it to be as clean as it was inside. I'm just being honest. The self checkout line wasn't too long. They were generally ell stocked. I got what I needed and was in and out. This won't be my go to, but if I'm close by and I need something I will come in here again. Parking is a bit congested though. read more

They never have enough cashiers at anytime of the day open. It's usually only one register open throughout the day & the rest is self check-out. The cashiers that they do have, are very low & the costumer service is not helpful or available. read more

Greenbelt Giant simply put--SUCKS. Some employees are great, especially the hard working cashiers putting their lives on the line to make a living, but for the most part the others on the floor are apathetic, dismissive and do not do their jobs correctly. Dismissive and disrespectful employees must follow their manager as he is all about getting you out of his face in less than 8 seconds. They have items which I trusted to be ok, and once I got it home expired 3 months ago: Giant brand lemonade. Yogurts, and other perishables the same, but not as often during the pandemic. Their produce is low quality and their suppliers give them the worst in the lot for a great deal of their fruits and veggies: Orange sized brown looking pomegranates anyone? The people begging for money when you come in/leave the building/store is also getting on my nerves. EVERY TIME!! Best thing about this place is that it is convenient when you are desperate and parking is ample. Oh and if there is a problem in the store with theft or crime and you approach the "security guard" at the entrance for assistance to have them CALL THE MALL POLICE that SG will simply say they can't help you and you need to call the mall police yourself. WTF? THEN WHY ARE YOU THERE SECURITY GUARD? Oh ya, you are getting paid to chat up the girls walking into Giant that you want to meet. Right! read more

I've been a customer for a lifetime. Giant was the supermarket at which my mom shopped from at least the time I was 10 years old. I've stuck with Giant as one of my favorites in the decades that followed. I am a faithful customer at both Giant and Safeway, but I shop at Giant far more frequently because Giant is about 5-10 minutes closer to my house. I get my prescription meds at Giant, too. I switched to their pharmacy a couple years ago because they had Rx meds in stock that my local pharmacy chain didn't keep on hand. read more

When I walk into this store, I remind myself that they have reasonably priced groceries. I have to remind myself because everything else about the place is terrible. I won't go into detail, but I generally choose to drive 5 miles in the opposite direction to a Whole Foods to ensure that I can walk away without contracting some illness or have rouge carts rammed into my car. I only visit this location when I am in need of packaged items or when I am in a hurry. Their produce is always wilted or soft and their deli department seems to even find a away to mess up slicing cheese and meat. Look up for original post and look down for update: I would like to update this post. The deli is trying and asking more questions about how I want my meat. Good job. Also, while I do not eat a lot of sweets, their bakery is on point. Lastly, the store is doing a great job taking care of their customers and workers during the pandemic. Thank you for caring for people and not just profits during this time. Especially in PG county!!! This Giant is inside Beltway Plaza and despite being the nearest grocery store for a couple of large apartment complexes and situated in the grocery wasteland of P.G. County it is never mobbed. Although perhaps it will be after I post this review? While this one is smaller than some Giants (har har?) it is always worth a trip. You've got your traditional grocery fare, a good selection of gluten-free foods, plant-based milk type drinks, organic foods and even weird British stuff that may or may not not be food as the rest of the world understands the term. read more

Based on my interactions with them, I would give this store's employees high marks generally, but I need to single out one named Joann who was working especially hard this morning to get customers checked out quickly. She saw a line forming at one of the regular checkout lines, which I was part of, and got me to follow her over to the underused self-checkout area, where she checked out my purchases for me, chatting amiably with me all the while, and then cheerily wished me a wonderful day. (She also showed me what to do if I don't have my Bonus Card with me, as was the case today.) I know I'm not likely to get that kind of personal service when the store is busier, but I thank Joann for providing it when the opportunity presented itself. read more

Easily the worst pharmacy I've ever been a regular at in my entire life. I'm talking 2-3 hour waits just for a couple of prescriptions. These sort of egregious wait times at least 15-20 times over the past couple years. At a Walgreens or a CVS, this would seriously take no more than 30 minutes. Avoid getting your prescriptions filled here at all costs! read more

This store has 2 price scanner machines, 1 on either end of the baby aisle. The one in the back has not worked in months, but there is nothing indicating that. It is connected and it looks like it works, but when you scan an item nothing happens. So you need to use the one in the front of the aisle. Not sure why both machines are in the same aisle. The 99c dept is great--lots of random household stuff for 99c that changes every day. Like having a mini dollar tree inside Giant. The hot food section is 99% prepackaged but good variety of chicken, and some is prepackaged but cold so ready to reheat. Large bakery dept. Deli and butcher counters close earlier than rest of store but they don't tell you what time. If you want deli and butcher counter get there before 6. Store is in mall with Burlington Coat factory, target, marshalls, tj maxx, baskin robbins, everything you need. but bring groceries to car before shopping, you can't take cart through mall. read more

I live 1/3mi. frm Safeway, but drive 2.4mi. to Giant several times a week! The lady who noted all their upgrades is spot-on; the store's full of busy bees making my shopping a pleasure! My fav cashier,Yvette, a bakery person & Mgr, saved my butt last summer, fixing a mishap with a special personalized cake, on a Sat., & 2 days ago, when tissues had been moved from their winter location, Steve & Siede sensed my panic over being late for an appt, & walked me to their new isle, when I didn't see them! Leona noticed my dismay, & quickly opened register No. 18, getting all my items scanned & bagged in a literal 'jiffy!' Stopped long enuf for 2 ears of corn, & tho clean, voiced my disgust to two produce stockers re customers who believe its fine to shuck their corn, right over the available supply (vs. using the huge garbage receptacle provided adjacent)! Telling those folk they're losing much flavor by pre-shucking before their water boils, wont change inconsiderate habits! Both were cordial, but never missed a beat frm performing their duties. I've NEVER had to wait for help, when I goof-up on a self-serve payer machine, & there's ALWAYS someone in that area assessing, & appearing beside you, before you realize you need help! Back to the terrific guys who work the stock room, I was helping an elderly driver who's pwr train broke while turning off Rt 193 onto Cherry. With no lights or blinkers,the back-end of his vehicle wud hav been totaled, wth probable injuries, had it not been for the quick help by these workers in getting me a cone to place behind his vehicle (yes, I waited for tow truck, & returned the cone)! My point is that Giant is a true local gem, with excellent employees, who care about, & serves well, residents & our community! In 13yrs, I've never had to return an item, due to mold, damage, or breached inside packaging. I love they occasionally find a few outer carton tears & bends in frozen food & mark them down moderately. I've never found an inside seal broken or pierced, & I so appreciate their time spent inspecting these items, saving me time & effort! It's a cheap thrill on a strict budget, to get home a little under-budget! When there's a mistake or wrong purchase, I've never had a problem getting a quick refund! Hope they never decide to discontinue their wunnerful Olive loaf, or any of their superior items baked on site! Registers are updated well, to reflect new prices, but I & many others DO MISS NOT SEEING OUR PRICES appear on the screen as we're scanned! The assumption that a majority of your customers are more interested in an aggregate savings amt. or points, than noticing an error during check-out is a fallacy (if u care to ever do a survey)! Everyone I know wud MUCH rather see ONLY the price they're paying, & catch an error quickly, than have to dissect receipts, 'eat-it,' or return to the store for a refund! Ask ur cashiers how many complaints & time is wasted, if u don't believe me! Maybe its by design, that most people wont bother; sure hope not! In my store, this is especially true, with a new town full of college students each semester! One reviewer mentioned a long walk to her car, but it isn't! Consider leaving Giant/ Laurel, w/o an effort-saving down hill ramp, sheltered from the weather, with well-lighted security until you're only several steps from your car! Love the organics & 'naturals,' & always find a few unexpected mark-downs & inspiration for an unplanned bargain dish to surprise my family. Hav NEVER seen dirty produce shelves, even late at night, & correct price markers being directly in front of an item is spot-on 95% of the time (that's a record anywhere)! I feel cared-about in my Giant, & promise to never patronize Aldi's except for the occasional insanely sale-priced produce, like their $.99 pineapples this week. W/O a bakery, & much truly fresh, or local, I shutter at the amt of preservatives that must be in their imported baked goods! Staff always has a kind word at Giant; & they don't mind if u check on an item as its being scanned, & remedy the situation instantly. Aldi's check-out stays in "too hi gear," & they're 4 items ahead before you can 'interrupt' to report an error! Aldi's pkg lot is too small for my car; at Giant I have super lighting, no matter how far away I park, to avoid a 'ding!'
