Giant Lanham
Adelyn P.

In the past I have been less than positive about the Lanham Giant. However, this morning my daughter and her baby went shopping there. When she got to the self checkout she had difficulty choosing the correct produce. A young man stepped in and helped her. He made the experience very positive and very likely saved her some money. I think it's very important to share all the experiences both positive and negative. It goes to show us once more that our entire experience can come down to just one person. Thank you to this kind and generous soul.

This Giant is located on my way to work and as l had run out of my fav Yoplait Greek 100 Whips!, l was in desperate need to make this pit stop on my way in. As the store opened at 6am, l was walking through the door at 6:05. So glad it opened ON TIME as we all know of those stores that have you waiting at the door far past their opening time (eyes rolling) while they are staring at you FROM the inside (geesh!) There were only two other shoppers that l noticed in the store, which was good for me as l scooped up a couple of my beloved yogurts and headed straight to checkout before they even had a chance to swerve their carts around and head in that direction. The lady at the register was pleasant at such an early time (some folks are NOT morning persons) and scanned and rang my stuff up faster than a fly on....you get what l mean. The store was clean (even the restroom as l had to make a pit stop there as well) and well stocked. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. In the future, if l need things with the quickness on my way to work, l will stop at this Giant.

I like this location. It's not my favorite but the selection is good and the lines are bearable.

ALDI - They're back in the Aldi Finds aisle

The layout of this location is very similar to the Aldi by my house. It was very clean, which made…read moreme think it was brand new until I saw that there are reviews here from 15 years ago! I believe the self checkout machines are new since the last several reviews don't mention them. I like to de them when I only have a handful of groceries. I stopped in after donating blood just to get milk, but of course I had to visit the Aldi Finds aisles. I was disappointed in their lack Easter chocolate selections. However, they had my favorite cookies once again. The Aussie style cookies are the bomb. The chocolate tastes like Belgium chocolate. Then as I was walking past the frozen case I saw my favorite salmon entree that I only find at Lidl. This salmon in a puff pastry is restaurant quality. It was $8.99. I would've bought two if I had more room in my freezer. This location is not on my way home, but next time I donate blood I will be back.

We were just getting juice, and I didn't really observe the store otherwise. Fast forward to now, LIDL has been missing some of my essentials, so I finally decided to check ALDI out since it's barely 5 minutes further out for me. Just a few feet in, and I immediately knew where everything was! There are two things I really like about this place: 1) The layout of the entire store - there is plenty of space between each aisle and they are neatly stocked. 2) The labeling for what's in each aisle - it is very easy to spot where things are since you have to be pretty blind to figure out where everything is. ALDI managed to have every single thing that LIDL was missing... my power greens, my bean and pea crisps, sweet potato chips, and even some hibiscus tea I had never seen before! It's nice to have this place as a secondary for shopping... I'm so excited! LIDL still has the upper hand for three reasons, however: 1) Rewards (self-explanatory) 2) It's half the distance from the house (though both are still very close) 3) Self-checkout. I don't really want to interact with people these days if I can help it.

I am currently receiving the large local box. I love the ability to skip a week when I am going out of town. I also like that I can add extra things to my regular box. They also have a build your own box which is nice when I have too many greens in the fridge but I still need some veggies. I just put "local" in the search box and I can find things that are nearby. I am definitely cooking and eating more veggies and I have discovered that I love dandelion greens! Emailed WGG multiple times over several weeks and only received an auto-response to call with urgent issues. However, calling goes straight to voicemail and does not allow you to leave messages, leaving me in a frustrating contact-less loop. Finally got a response when I emailed them that I planned to file a charge dispute with my credit card company, and was told to have the recipient email them when they wanted to use their gift certificate (...because they are clearly so prompt or available to respond to emails?). I requested a refund and have not heard back from them since. I am still working with my credit card to get the money they effectively stole back. I'm so disappointed because I was really looking forward to supporting this business and thought it would make a great gift for my friend, but now I'm $100 out and feeling scammed.

Also, the parking lot can get a little congested and difficult for those walking out to their cars. As far as the store, at times, their lines can get pretty long, including the self-checkouts. The selection is pretty good and I usually find what I am looking for, with the exception of a few popular weekly sale items here and there. If I didn't live nearby, it would not be my first choice Giant, but it's super convenient. Look both ways when walking in and out and say hi to the security at the entrance :)

They replaced the crab legs but did not have any better tails to replace the lobster. I asked for my money back and was told it would not be returned. The sticker on the bag showed I brought it today on top of the fact that it is obvious that the tails are bad. I have given this store the benefit of the doubt for two years since I've lived in this area. There is obviously no direction in FIFO from the produce, to the seafood, and the meat, I have been pointing out spoiled items in every area of the store. To be run by people of color selling damaged goods to people of color is a disgrace. Fuck the money it's the principal and moral which there are obviously none.
