Love the pizza, hate this location. Poor service. Manager and staff admit they are overwhelmed. We called ahead and ordered a single pie and were told an hour at 6p on a Friday night, showed up at 7p, waited until 7:50 to received my pie which was lukewarm. I've called several times to request single pies and they are completely put off by it, stating they are too busy. I'm sorry, this is a business and you make money, sign is on....how aren't you accepting orders? After asking staff to clarify, I was told by several different staff members that they don't have time for one pie, only big orders with multiple pies. Really disappointing. read more

This place is just a okay...nothing but mediocre pizzas and other stuff. Regular new york style cheese pizza was acceptable. But a square shaped pizza was too thick for me and it got really hard once the pizza got cold. I think domino pizza or Papa John would have been a better choice. Hitting up the hometown, my sister and I were starrrrving. The nearby fast-food chains elicited mental vomit and there wasn't a decent looking restaurant nearby that would offer quick enough service for us to be on our way. But there we saw the sign for Giacomo's. I've probably passed this place hundreds of times and somehow never found the time to go in. But in we went. We were both expecting the regular pizza establishment... you know, bad lighting, cheap chairs, sweaty dude in the back making round greasy cheese pizza pies. Surprise, surprise from the moment we walked in. Gourmet pizzas - ah my favorite kinds! Like the ones with REAL mozzarella and fresh (enough) basil, and thin but crispy but not tough crusts. mmm. Sicilian slices? de-lect-table. And that was just the pizza! The place itself was great - clean and nice tables and booths, a flat screen tv (and entertainment system) in the back, a wine cooler to the side, and best of all, real live Italian-speak! My husband and I love this place! This is our local joint and we're usually here at least twice a month. The staff is friendly and always knows our order. The grandma slice is my favorite( I wish I knew the secrets to the sauce!) Considering we usually just order slices and salad, everyone is still super friendly! My husband knows the owner and he's even treated us to dinner, which was very nice of him. We spent time just talking to him and sharing stories about Italy and travel. This is a family place and some days you can see tables with lots of kids! We once had a hit and run in the parking lot, and the staff was so gracious that they actually called the person who was a regular customer to see if it may have been their car. It was and saved us a huge deductible! We always leave this place super satisfied and ready to come back. A grandma slice from Giacomos is the first thing we crave after coming back from a long trip out of the country and always a weekend go to on the way to getting errands done. read more

Giacomo's positively makes a wickedly good pie. I specially like the focacia based pies, quite unique, as far as my limited experience goes. The "gradma" pizzas are generally amazing, if sometimes slightly on the saltier side. There more "traditional" pizzas are also very good. Really good, different pizza. I'm not so crazy about the regular pies but they have a lot of gourmet sort of stuff. Anything they sell by square slice is fantastic. There's crostina, which has no sauce and lots of garlic, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. And grandma's sicilian, kind of a spicy marinara slice. They also have a really good veggie on whole wheat. Their pinwheels are also good. I have not tried any entrees. They have a few locations, one at Croft Corners tucked under the Spackenkill overpass, another up by Marist College in the same plaza as Starbucks, and it looks like they're putting another in the 9 Mall Plaza (Marshall's and Modells). read more

Love Giacomos. Always get the order right and it tastes great. Pizza isn't soggy or too thin, and we love their pasta dishes. Spaghetti and meatballs and great and a huge multi-person serving. Paid a premium price for a Margherita pizza; tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil (per their menu). Before I opened the box, I was overwhelmed by the aroma of oregano. Which I thought, no, that cannot be not on a Margherita, but opened the box and discovered it was COVERED in oregano with an occasional leaf of basil. I ordered Margherita pizza because I want a very simple pizza. Could not return/or wait to have a different pizza to be made, had a meeting to go to. Extremely disappointed. When I called the restaurant the person on phone said "We add oregano to ALL our pizzas". Funny, but I have never had a pizza from Giacomo's buried in oregano before. I rarely order for delivery from them, it will be even more rare. Pizza ruined. read more

If you would like to order from this place, it doesn't make matter if you place your order over the phone or on line, it's never a guarantee you get what you ordered. They don't have great customer service and would prefer to argue with you until you hang up on them. I think they go too big too quick, customers do not matter, money matters! Good luck! Great pizza place! My volleyball team comes to Giacomo's every week after our game for beer and pizza. Some of our favorites specialty pizzas are Crustina, Grandma, Grandpa, and Southwestern. The wait staff is generally friendly. There is a TV in the corner for kids to watch if they get bored, though it is only on when kids are watching, so it doesn't get too annoying. Giacomo's is also a favorite for takeout pizza. Everyone I know in Poughkeepsie orders from them. read more

Giacomos pisses me off. Like many pizza places that are family owned, they mistreat their workers. It's 95 degrees in there in the summer, and they refuse to turn the air on. I understand AC is expensive, but #1: the family owns a handful of places so I doubt they can't afford it and #2: it's unenjoyable for customers to sit in and have a slice whilst sweating and watching poor waitresses practically die over the heat. I have eaten at all the Giacomos in Dutchess County and this one is by far the most consistent. I always get the Rio Rancho Pizza and a calzone - it's always better to eat it right when it comes out of the oven. The dining room is nice - they just redid it a few years back. The staff is always so nice and friendly. The only thing I would change is I hate that whenever my family and I order wings they come out after the pizza. I seriously think this is the best pizza I've ever had anywhere. I think they put crack in it. Fresh ingredients, non greasy good quality cheese, flavourful and reasonably priced. I haven't had their entrees but the calzones and pinwheels are stuffed with goodness, nicely garlicky, rich and fresh tomato flavours are a standout in the margherita sauces. Fresh perfect salads. I feel like I've used the word "fresh" in here a lot but it's deserved, there's none of the greasy, sad, droopy, tired pizza which you see in so many other places, everything is hot and fresh and crisp. The locations I've been to are good for a pizza joint, Spackenkill has comfortable booths and a decent attempt to be more of a restaurant, Marist location is smaller and more pizza-placey, still an easy place to sit down for a half hour and watch the game while noshing. This is the go-to place for a slice in P-town. Two complaints which don't take away from the place enough to lose a star, one is the mostly indifferent staff at every location - it's a pizza place staffed by mostly college kids who aren't there as a career choice, just to bridge the gap between student loans and birthday checks from mom and dad, so that's fine, the other is that their website has been beaten to death with the ugly stick, it's AWFUL. LOVE this place! The food, the service, just everything is amazing. Their thin sliced grandma style pizza is top notch! It has to be in the top 5 best pizzas I have ever ate. The wings are small, but they make up for it in taste. They subs are okay. Chicken roll is a must. If you want to go a little healthier, they have that too. The wraps are delicious. The salads however could taste a little fresher. No Italian dressing?! What!? But don't worry their house dressing taste even better. Overall great to place to order from. read more

The staff couldn't be more rude. No hello, thank you or goodbye from anyone and they completely ignore you except to collect the money. Person at counter can't remember anything about your order. Don't come within a half hour of closing or the chairs will be stacked on top of the tables and they'll be sweeping and mopping around you while you eat. Last time we were there they gave my boyfriend's slice to someone else. From now on we'll stick to the Giocomo's near Marist where they'll treat you like a human being. read more

Very good pizza. Order in, take out, or get delivery. The cheese pie is excellent. The "Grandma's" pie is quite spicy but good. It's really a nice place to go eat. The slices are usually ready pretty quickly, but it's not fast food by any means. It may be food that comes fast, but it's better than McDonalds. read more

I am disappointed! I had order two sandwiches for delivery one BLT sub and one eggplant parm sub. First off when I placed the order they had told me 10 minutes on the phone but when I called back they had said 25 minutes. In actuality it took 40 minutes to get here. When I had gotten my order my blt sub was a wrap, the cheese wasn't melted and everything was cold. The eggplant parm was cold and had very little sauce, the bun was burnt, my eggplant was cold and it tasted frozen. Overall very overpriced and low quality food and service. read more
