Lobster, shrimp and mussels with Giacomo's sauce over linguine

Delicious! We went for a date night / birthday dinner combo. We tried the fall appetizer special which was really good. The butternut squash didn't have too much flavor to it, but the crostini and ricotta was very good with the pumpkin seeds. Our dinners were great and everything came out quickly after ordering, but we didn't feel rushed.

Stuffed baked chicken. So delicious - A white round plate holds a serving of stuffed baked chicken with a crispy, browned exterior. Accompanying the chicken are sautéed greens and diced potatoes, arranged neatly on the plate. The dish is presented on a dark wooden table, with a fork and knife placed on the plate, suggesting a meal served in a restaurant environment.

Food has so much flavor and really big portions. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Nice way to end our trip in boston.

A lovely small Italian restaurant nestled in Melrose's downtown! I met friends here for dinner for a Fundraiser for MAAV (Melrose Alliance Against Violence) and was so happy to see them participate in something like that! We ordered martinis from the celebrity bartender, mine a pumpkin martini, and then ordered food. I always try to order what a restaurant is known for so under "House Seafood Specialities", I went with the mussels and calamari over homemade fusilli 'Giacomo style' (lobster based red sauce with a touch of béchamel) absolutely delicious with a generous portion of seafood and pasta plus so reasonably priced at $25!! It was very loud so it was tough to catch up with friends but it made me so happy to see such a big turnout for such an important cause! We're already planning another dinner here soon!

A dessert cocktail served in a martini glass features a layered presentation with chocolate chips around the rim and a drizzle of chocolate sauce on top. The drink is placed on a marble table in a restaurant setting, with a menu visible nearby and blurred background elements including a person and window with lights.

So my main reason for my trip here was the cannoli martini! And let me just tell you this tasted just like it and lived up to call the hype!! Presentation was to perfection and screamed cannoli right as our waiter was bringing them over. It was super filling I will say!! We just had a small app but I would love to get back to location to try dinner menu, it looks amazing! It felt like you were at an Italian restaurant in the city perfect date night vibes.

Lemon Fettuccine with Scallops and Shrimp - A white plate contains lemon fettuccine pasta with pieces of scallops and shrimp, garnished with chopped herbs. The dish is served on a dark dining table, with a glass of red wine and a white plate visible in the background. A person with crossed arms is partially visible in the background, indicating a restaurant setting.

Fantastic local Italian restaurant. The cocktail menu is on point. Service is attentive; even on a Friday night. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. The seafood platter (for two) looked AMAZING. Huge lobster surrounded by other amazing seafood. The wine menu is delicious and affordable. We got a bottle of Duckhorn Cab for only 36$. House salad was delicious. Lightly dressed. The chicken Piccata was crisp and lemony and delicious. The lemon fettuccini with scallops and shrimp was also delicious. And the pasta was of course; Al dente. The chicken Parm was HUGE and delicious. We also ordered a platter of the broccoli rabe. Nice and spicy, but a little bitter due to the size of the stems.

Large fried calamari - A dish of fried calamari rings and tentacles, garnished with two lemon wedges, is presented on a white plate. A small bowl of marinara sauce accompanies the calamari. The setting appears to be a restaurant with a dark wooden table and a person visible in the background.

Decided to try the Melrose location (we usually go to the north end and sometimes the south end location). Had reservations on Sunday at 5pm. Came in and the place was packed, even the bar. Highly recommend making reservations if you plan to eat earlier. By 7pm there were few empty tables and no wait. There is street parking in front and they have a big parking lot in the back. This is a plus compared to their other locations Service was attentive and friendly. Food was good but not the same quality as the north end location. But still delicious and plentiful. We got the large calamari, clams linguini and 2 Fra Diavolo FruittiDiMare linguini (very generous with the seafood compared to other places). Seafood were all very fresh.

First time at this location. The appetizers antipasto and chop salad was really good but the main courses were bland. The lobster with calamari in red sauce was bland avd the shrimp in red sauce over pasta as also no flavor the pasta linguini abd the fettuccini pasta was over cooked. No garlic flavor. The service was very good. I gave only three stars because of the flavorless pasta dishes.

Chicken Parm. - A white oval plate holds a serving of chicken Parmesan covered with melted cheese and garnished with chopped herbs. The dish is surrounded by tomato sauce, and a fork and knife are placed on the plate. The setting appears to be at an outdoor dining area with a dark table surface.

I wanted to love this restaurant 100% and be super thrilled to come back. But I can't. It was good. Was it Northend good? No. Was it authentic Italian good? No. It was solid American Italian food. Let me explain my experience here. I went here with three folks. Made a reservation. On a Saturday at 7 PM. There was no need to do that. The place was relatively empty inside, and we were even able to get outdoor seating. Without any special accommodations. We sat down and waited a little bit, but I did see the way to running around like a chicken with his head cut off, so I was OK it was sitting outside and waiting. He came to our table and he was very, how do I say, Boston? Hey how you doin..He says. Can I get something started for ya? We opted to start with a large order of fried calamari. Which, when it came out, was really good and a very ample portion. I think you could even use it for a main meal instead of an appetizer it was so large. We got a bottle of wine as well. It seem like a better choice with three folks as opposed to individual drinks. Came out to be the same price. We ordered the Fra diavolo seafood, the The lemon fettuccine shrimp dish, and chicken Parm. Nothing fancy, routine items on the menu it seemed. They didn't take very long to come out and didn't all come out at once. Again, our waiter was super busy with all the tables outside for himself. My chicken palm was not steaming hot, it was warm, even hot, but not as if it just came out of being cooked. More like it probably had been sitting under the heat lamp for a few minutes. Maybe while everything else finished cooking? The lemon fettuccine dish looked really pretty and my friend said it tasted really good. Hubby got the seafood fra diavolo. Again, it looked really good, but he said the sauce was relatively underwhelming and not spicy enough at all. We were never offered grated cheese or hot pepper to put on our food if we wanted it. I don't know if they even have that there. Also, when we got our bread for the table? Three small pieces that we used with olive oil. The bread was really good. But we could've used more and I waited never asked us if he wanted some. Oh and all it was a positive experience, but just not exciting enough for me to really go back again. Paragraph plus, parking and getting into the restaurant is kind of weird. They don't tell you that the entrance to the restaurant is on the side in an alleyway. So we had to walk all the way around the building only to find the entrance was literally right where we had parked!!

Very good service, delicious food. Appreciated the good bread. Most of our party had the Frutti Del Mar which was delicious and generous.

We have two little picky eaters and needed convenience, access to parking, and spacious and friendly for toddlers. We thoroughly enjoy Ciao Amici and have been going pretty regularly for the last 2 years. Our usual are the meatballs and carbonara for the kids. For awhile, it was the only way I could get my youngest to eat any protein. It is tender and has the right amount of spices for my youngest to gobble up. The two of them always share the carbonara and slurp it right up. Lastly, my oldest has recently become obsessed with their sauteed mussels and I literally have to negotiate with her to let me eat one. I love the saffron garlic white wine sauce, it is very garlicy and goes so well with the warm bread that they give you. My husband and I have tried a lot of their pasta and seafood with risotto dishes. Recently he has also ventured into their main dishes and still enjoyed it. Overall, great flavors, pasta is al dente, and the perfect portion where you don't feel overly stuffed by the end of the meal. We've tried a few of the places in the North End, and I would say Ciao Amici definitely is on par if not better than some of the places in the North End, plus they have a small parking lot that we've always had access to. My personal favorites are the Spaghetti Shrimp Scampi and Haddock e Risotto. The servers are always attentive and considerate. The -1 star comes from the pace of service. We usually go on the early side and don't have trouble but the few times we've gone when it was a bit busier, we noticed that the food can take awhile to come out and although I am confident everyone is working hard, they may not always be staffed appropriately when t's busy. Lastly, we did order a salad once and it was definitely no frills, but that was exactly how it was stated on the menu. I would not go there for the salad.

I don't typically eat veal, and this cutlet was perfectly balanced - rich, savory, crispy, with a pleasant (but not overwhelming) salty kick from the prosciutto and parmigiano reggiano. We also ordered the spicy broccolini, which I highly recommend for the garlic lovers out there. For dessert we had the dark cherry (amarena?) gelato, which was delicious and creamy, with the perfect amount of sweetness. We shared each dish, and it was certainly plenty of food for the two of us. Prices felt reasonable for the amount and quality of what we ordered (all of the above + 2 drinks from the bar totaled approx. $160 pre-tip). The restaurant space itself is relatively small but has enough space to move around comfortably, which made it cozy without ever getting too loud (it was a pretty full house when we went), with a balanced dim lighting. Additionally, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the server patiently walked us through the menu and shared suggestions at our request. On a personal note I am especially appreciative of the staff, as I accidentally left without my hat, and the restaurant responded almost immediately to the message I sent through the restaurant website that same evening. Tl;dr - great menu, rich & hearty but balanced ingredients/recipes, and comfortable vibe. One really gets the impression that the husband/wife owners had a specific vision that they successfully brought into reality.

Great ambiance with perfect lighting and temperature. The room is set up perfectly with the oven sort of the center piece in the rear of the restaurant. The night I was there, we were full! lots of activity around the entire restaurant. We were met immediately by a waiter, who took our drink order and dropped off some delicious bread with some oil. The calamari and eggplant appetizers were out of this world! For the main dish, we had pizza, a beautiful arugula salad and the honey lavender duck! My wife was thrilled with the arugula. She has mentioned several times since we went how good it was. The pizza was a strong B+. I liked the size for one...6 slices and they were tasty and my son is still talking about the lavender duck! What a surprise! We did not get a dessert....we plan to next visit.....they looked great as they passed our table but we held back!
