Sonny's is always a good choice! They have a wide spread of options from Italian specialties to grilled dinner plates. My favorites are the chicken broccoli pasta and the steak tip dinner plate. When ordering the pasta, you can get an alfredo or lighter oil/butter garlic sauce; both are excellent, just depends on the vibe you want. The steak tips are awesome - cooked to order. They're very flavorful and juicy. The portion sizes are very generous at Sonny's - you will leave with an extremely full belly and/or enough leftovers for another meal. The workers are friendly and efficient. You can dine in or do take out - plus delivery I think through DoorDash. They have a little inside dining room, nothing fancy but good for eating there if desired. Parking can be tight out front but there is more next door and around the side. read more

What could go wrong with a chicken Caesar? A lot, apparently. I ordered the "Chicken Caesar" from under the sub/ wrap section of the menu. I assumed it would be a wrap because who makes a chicken Caesar sub? Apparently this place. My bad, I shouldn't have assumed. The real issue was with the composition of the sandwich itself. The filling was approximately 90% bland chicken, 10% soggy croutons, and a smidge of actual Caesar salad.... Like literally just a few leaves. Entirely possible I ordered the wrong thing, but based on the tough, bland chicken, I'm inclined to believe many of their other sandwiches would be of the same disappointing quality. read more

Just a heads up that I wish I had: you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I just wasn't expecting that and wish we had more time to peruse a physical menu. You also have to prepay, which is weird when it comes to service and beer/wine. When we first walked in, I could smell the grill and could see some smoke. When we first sat down, I had to keep my count on because I was so cold. We finally realized that they had a screen door propped open which allowed the freezing cold air in. They eventually closed it and I got warm again, but opened it back up when it got smoky again. The filter system definitely needs some work and attention as that doesn't seem appropriate nor safe. My husband got the chicken parm and he said it was one of the best he's had in awhile. The red sauce was very yummy too. I got the chicken picatta. The chicken was very hard and I wish there were more capers and less mushrooms. The pasta was al dente. I think we'll order take out from here, but definitely won't eat in again. read more

Surprised. Heard many a comment and seen a review and it seemed to be a big question mark... No longer!!! Been a tough day for the two of us Didn't feel like cooking or going out, so... Let's roll the dice and see what Sonny Notos could bring to our home. Had heard about their steak tips... let's give it a try. Sides were fries, onion rings, house salad and veggies. We both ordered the tips, hers with fries and mine with garlic pan fried broccoli. I ordered a Greek salad on the side. Door Dash was quick. Upon the order, they called and said that they were running low on fries, would I like something else. Yup, the garlic broccoli was recommended and I went for it. Ordered the tips, medium... Doorbell rang 15 minutes later. Looks great. Let's see!... The tip dinner was delicious and very tender... SURPRISED! The entire order was very hot and ready to eat. Surprised. Best tips we've had in a long while... surprised!! We both finished our meals and for delivery it was a 10! My Greek salad after was fab. Fresh greens, fresh feta cheese, fresh tomatoes and fresh eggs. A 9 ! Sonny's is now a place we're going to visit in person!! It's a surprisingly nice place to order from!! Foos is always very good! 3 Times now I have ordered and paid for a tap beer at the time I order take out food, or eat at bar food and had to wait over 10 minutes (I HAD TO STOP A GIRL TO ACTUALY FINALLY POUR ME ONE!) The girls wal right by me, but pay attention to the obvious regulars! I would have had a second, if I had been able to start the first before my food came! Unfortunately the meatball sub I got here recently was poor. The meatballs were dried out and cool leading me to believe they were kept in the refrigerator instead of simmering in gravy. I go back to Sonny Noto's original Central Sq location and have been to their Wakefield spot too but not for a couple of years. Balls had about the same flavor as before but they either don't sell enough of them to keep them simmering or they're just cutting corners, either way I don't think I'll return. read more

I ordered a greek salad with grilled chicken asked for extra feta. Picked up the extravagantly expensive $17 salad. Get home the container was half full with salad, no extra feta and no pita bread. Back in the day when I worked in East Boston, this was my 'go to' lunch spot. I absolutely LOVED their chicken Ceasar salad. I was completely bummed when they closed. You can't imagine my shock while driving in Wakefield this past weekend, I saw they had a spot here!!!!! I had to stop, and order my 'go to'! Man, oh man...it hasn't changed one bit! Walked in on a Saturday night at 8:50 (they close at 9) and they just stared at me blankly and said they're not taking my order. I would have been happy with a piece of bread honestly. They refused. Sonny Noto's has been just a skip and a jump away from our apartment for the past few years, but we've always been a little skeptical of it, since the reviews seemed pretty lukewarm. We finally gave it a try though this past week (once for take-out, once for dine-in), and I have to say, it likely will find a spot in our regular dinner rotation moving forward. The food quality is mixed, but it is one of those places where, after you go a few times, you'll figure out what to order. I wasn't super impressed by the shrimp scampi linguine that I tried (kind of bland), and was bummed that they don't offer any sort of garlic bread or breadsticks (c'mon, you're an Italian restaurant!), but I quickly learned that the steak fries here are a MUST (piping hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside - so good!). My husband got the steak tips both times, and I may end up going with that the next time we come - they had a nice sweet marinade on them and the portion was generous. I tried the buffalo chicken fingers on our dine-in visit, and they were pretty good. Meals all come with a giant slice of Italian bread slathered in cold butter (way too much butter for my taste, especially since it is not melted - I may try to see next time if they are willing to serve the bread sans butter). I preferred eating in vs. takeout (I actually enjoyed the atmosphere - feels very local and family-friendly), as they have plenty of comfy booths and the food comes out fresh and hot. Bonus - they had a tasty apple sangria as a special which was tasty and cheaper than if I ordered a cocktail at most other restaurants. Overall, Sonny's isn't necessarily a place that I'll be shouting from the rooftops about just yet, but it was good enough that we'll probably keep turning to it once in a while when we're in the mood for a no-frills, casual dinner. read more

I also went on a Saturday night 7/16/2022 at 8:01pm and ordered a meatball sub and a steak bomb sub and they both were DISGUSTING so it waa good you didn't order anything. Meatball sub did not taste like meatballs and they were mushy, the sauce on it did not taste like tomato sauce, the steak bomb tasted okay but it didn't have any Italian cold cuts, and if they did put the cheese in it, it didn't look or taste like it. This is our favorite Italian Restaurant. We eat here 2-3 times a week. I highly recommend it. The food is incredible, the entire staff is great. Everytime we go to Sonny Notos the food is delicious.
