I've been back this month twice for lunch. The 1st time around I had Sonoran Hot Dog... Yes, check my photo as its the only one and it was excellent. Not like a traditional one, easy to hold and eat, but everything about this joker was good. The beef, the toppings, and even the bun. The side of papas are very addicting but a must have either for yourself or to share. It was my birthday so I got the fried ice cream ball dessert. I'm not a big diary person (lactose) but I knew I was headed home afterwards so I was all in. It was really good. In addition, we also had soft tacos. The 2nd visit, was good, but not as good as before. The miss for us was "seasoning". Started with the Chips/Guac/Salsa appetizer. Ingredients were good, but we were looking for the salt. Took a while and I got up to go and look/grab. The same thing followed with our main meals, they seem "bland". We ordered the Hard shell & soft shell tacos as the tortilla's are made from scratch and they are GREAT!!!. Not much flavor came from the tacos with all the toppings and salsas. I shared the feedback with our server. I'm still high on this place, but a bit on inconsistency with the last 2 trips. Still a rating of 4 Stars and will probably return in the coming weeks. I've been to Ghost Ranch a handful of times before writing this review. I normally dine here with my bestie group for lunch. We love to share the green chili cornbread and chips with queso, salsa, and guacamole (go big or go home!). I always order the Carne Asada steak bowl because it's bomb! The meat is always tender and cooked right around medium temperature and they cut it up for the bowl. My friends order different things each time, not me, creature of habit... of course we are having lunch cocktails because we have gossip to dish too. The Frose is not only delectable but visually stunning! I also enjoy their Cadillac margarita, their margarita sampler... anything with tequila, the Paloma is great too! I want to add that I have been here for dinner and for some reason, the lunch menu IMO is better and the crowd is always more fun! read more

This is a must-stop for brunch, lunch or dinner. They have incredible menus staple for any appetite, and frequent have special, limited weekend food and drink options. The citrus salad is an easy favorite of mine, but I highly recommend starting with the coctel de camaron, and the chips, salsa and guac. Enjoy the atmosphere, it's a cozy spot, while still airy and with natural life. Service is great, they've all been friendly and accommodating. I'm realizing I need to take some photos next time!! We both liked the overall flavor of cream/mayo with lime and cheese. I was expected more of a creamy dip but the cheese was more like mozzarella. My girlfriend's potato tacos looked amazing and my Aztec cake was like a Mexican chicken pot pie with tons of chicken with green chili, corn, and cilantro. Sooooo good. The frijoles charros with rice was the surprise of the meal. I could have eaten a bowl of those alone. Rich, Smokey flavor with tender beans, corn, and buttered rice. A great place to have brunch, everything we have tried has been full of flavor and great portions.

I had been to Ghost Ranch once before many years and really enjoyed the experience, not to mention it comes up as a recommendation and great spot to grab some upscale modern Mexican cuisine. The space is very vibey, modern, bright and clean with super cool details such as terracotta lampshades, fun murals and overall a lovely space. We were lucky enough to make it an earlier dinner and visit around 5:30 to catch their happy hour which runs until 6:00 pm. We did not indulge in any of their cocktails this time around unfortunately - though I do recall how delightful and refreshing the frose marg and spicy marg were on my first visit - but did take advantage of some of the cheese crisp appetizer on the happy hour menu which was standout, great value and super delicious. Cheesey, crispy, generous portions of chorizo and veggies and overall I would definitely recommend and get again! Heck, I would visit them just for that and a marg. For dinner my husband and I shared the southwest pasta with roasted chicken and the roasted corn salad and added steak. My MIL got the chile rellenos. We all really enjoyed our entrees. The steak on the salad was so tender. I liked the salad, but didn't love, it felt like the dressing could use a bit more flavor, but still really good and lots of great toppings. The pasta was delightful, super cheesy and flavorful which really crispy chicken. My MIL loved her chile rellenos and the bite I snagged was delicious. The only issue was our entrees took close to 40 minutes from ordering to arrival. Our server did check in a few times and said it would be out shortly, but it never seemed quite true! It was odd, because they were not super busy at this time either. That being said, everything was still delicious and I would visit again, but the longtime wait for our entrees with no real comment or recognizing the issue was a bit odd. I wish I had room for the dessert, but will be back for the churro ice cream sandwich or coconut dulce de leche! It's a great spot for girls dinner, date night dinner, family dinner, celebration or really anything in between. read more

I came here for a date with my 4 year old. The restaurant was full when we came on a Monday night at 730pm. That's quite telling of a good restaurant. He was able to seat us though as they had a 2 seater high table. Our server Ariana was super nice. She immediately asked me whether I had been there before. Since I said no she gave suggestions for every section of the menu. I went with her suggestion of the Barbacoa tacos. It was very nice with the fresh tortillas. I also had a couple scoops of ice cream for my son and I had the Tres leches cake. It was huge and so tasty I definitely have a whole meal leftover for tomorrow. Met friends here for dinner. They don't take reservations which makes for a long wait. Why no reservations??? Anyway, went to nearby Postinos to grab a glass a wine. Once we were alerted to our table being ready, we were promptly sat at a table way too big for 4 people. Anyway it worked. For food we tried some different items. My husband and I shared the platter with a side of beans/rice. We also ordered a side of the homemade tortillas. Food was good but not great. Tortillas were thick. Good drink selection. I got the spicy pineapple margaritas. It was good. The first one the waitress spilled on the table but she cleaned it up. The second one was very good. No complaints on the margaritas. I went to Ghost Ranch with my boyfriend on Wednesday, 12/17. We were in town for my graduation and had never been to Tempe before, so we were searching restaurants to eat at on Google. Our main reason for choosing Ghost Ranch was that it had multiple vegetarian options for me, and we were so glad we decided to give it a try! The green chile cornbread was phenomenal (though I noticed later that it didn't have a vegetarian symbol next to it, so I'm unsure if it is made with lard). We also had the chips, salsa, and guacamole as an appetizer - I loved the red salsa, my boyfriend loved the green. For our entrees, I had the chile relleno and my boyfriend had the seasonal vegetable enchiladas. The goat cheese sauce with the chile relleno made it feel super elevated and fancy, and also tasted phenomenal! The enchiladas were also delicious, though I would recommend the restaurant clarifies what vegetables are used seasonally (it was sweet potatoes when we went). The margaritas were great. I got the margarita flight and then ordered a prickly pear frosé afterwards. They were plenty strong which was really nice! Finally, the service was great. Our waiter was kind and attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for any of our order. Overall a really positive experience. If we are ever back in Tempe, we will return! read more

We were visiting Tempe to see family and wanted to try something different this visit. Feeling very lucky that we found Ghost Ranch! We arrived just before 6pm on a Sunday and were seated right away. We started with cocktails and starters - their version of an old fashioned made with tequila was delicious, and the queso dip with handmade tortillas was chef's kiss amazing. Like the best we've ever had amazing. We tried the potato tacos, chopped salad with corn, sampler platter with steak and a variety of enchiladas, and the steak tacos, all delicious. Somehow we managed to save a little room for dessert, and shared the coconut tres leches cake and the churro ice cream sandwich. It's hard to say which one was better. Everything on the menu is unique and the portions are very generous. All that, and our server Ashley was lovely and attentive and the manager also came by to greet all the tables. It was a perfect meal out, and we will most definitely come back the next time we're in Tempe! read more

The biggest downside about this place was the first part... the parking. I swear we were all hunting for parking spots like Jaws stalking his prey. But once I parked, everything was on the up slope! Both the person who sat me and my server were very nice. I ordered a prickly pear frosé Rita, which was tasty, didn't have a weird melty factor as a frozen drink, and didn't give me brain freeze. All good in my book. Then, I asked for some help picking from the menu as I wanted too many things. I went with the skirt steak tacos and a starter of the esquites. Both ended coming up at the same time which wouldn't be ideal if you were with a group, but since I was eating solo it wasn't as big of a thing. I was surprised the the taco platter was served as a build your own, but it worked out well for me. My steak burrito had 5 very small chunks of beef. 4 pieces on one side, 1 on the other. What it was full of was romaine lettuce, totally unexpected. I can't eat that due to ulcerative colitis. See my photo of what was left after digging it out of some very tough, undercooked tortilla, also not eaten. Just ate the beef tidbits. Not a recommended choice. 3rd time back and the food and service never disappoints. Rylee did great job timing our meal and the takeout order we needed. The cheese crisp is our fav appetizer and the happy hour price amazing deal. This time we also shared the Aztec cake which was very filling for 2 in addition to cheese crisp. The fuego margarita had nice kick and the cucumber jalapeño margarita also a winner. Our only complaint which seems petty is the seating by the table setting and clean up station. Wasn't the most appealing site and staff kept needing to use brooms to the side of table. We could have asked to move but didn't seem enough of issue to cause staff to relocate us. read more

I came in from out of town for work and remembered being intrigued by the yelp reviews - let me tell you, they did not disappoint! The bartender (with the amazing earrings) was great! She gave awesome recommendations and made sure to check on me while being conscientious of the fact that I was on my laptop & making calls. I asked her to surprise me with whatever she recommended (between 3 things I picked from) and she listened to small details I mentioned. I had the asada burrito (ask them to put the red sauce on there if you like a kick) and the corn salad. Probably one of the best places I've been to out here. The parking lot was full.. but there was ONE SPOT just for me left lol. I walked in and didn't see a sign or anything that said 'please wait to be seated'. There was, however, a host stand in front of me, that I missed until the bartender said the host will be right back.... but I really thought it was just part of there server area. After a minute or two a host came over and stated she was dropping off water and that the server would be by shortly. After another 2-3 minutes, Torrence came by to greet me. He was very nice but seemed slightly flustered (I don't mind, I have served and been a manager in a restaurant and some) so I'm just telling you for the review. I can be pretty indecisive at times. He's was patient and helped guide me through the menu. Long story short... I got the casamigos margarita w/a little prickly pear flavor. It was good. The second drink I got, I watched the bartender make it with the wrong ingredients and so I requested she redo it, which she did thank you. The manager Megan came over with the new drink and an idea to reconcile the situation. Thank you Megan. I also want to shout out Avery for his opinion on the menu (which I was tryna decide my choice). Regarding the food, I got the Ghost Ranch Benedict, it was good but nothing special. I also felt it was a little skimpy on the chorizo. It was good but again, nothing spectacular. Anyway. Great bunch, but I mostly likely will not be back. Celebrated a birthday. We were seated in the back by bathrooms and bussing station though there were tables available by front windows. Service was quick and efficient. Food was very good. Server missed my gift card which was open on my phone next to the ccd. Said they couldn't reverse the ccd charge to use my gift card. Quickly said they would take off the gratuity. Though she had earned. The passive aggressive nature of her response was so awkward and quick we were left stunned. Not sure why this happened. Surely there must be a way this could have been handled to our satisfaction w/o shorting the server. I have a gift card I have to keep on my phone until next time I visit. Great happy hour/after work restaurant that has great specials and great variety of drinks. The food was also so good and don't think anyone from our party had a bad dish. I especially liked their pork tenderloin that was cooked to perfection with a crunchier exterior. The service was also wonderful and even though they messed up the cooking PRIOR to serving it, they advised us ahead of time that they were remaking it so that everything came out at once. The manager apologized as well as our server and comped our appetizers. It does get busy and the parking lot isn't great with postinos next door so things to watch out for. read more
