This is my second time coming to ghosthawk and have to say I definitely prefer it in the warmer weather when they have outdoor seating and all the doors open. It was pretty packed for a Wednesday night but we were able to get two seats right at the bar. My boyfriend had the apex predator as he loves IPAs. I was able to try the United Sodas non alcoholic drinks they had which were delicious. The pear elderflower was great not too sweet or full of sugars and no artificial dyes! It's a smaller brewery but has that homey charm to it. A must try if you are in the Clifton area. Parking does fill up quick! read more

Best of the Best! Steve and phis partners have created something great. A place locals can frequent and travelers can discover. I'm not a huge beer drinker but I like the occasional frosty brew. Ghost Hawk has a nice variety for me to try out. The building itself has a great lay out and a is the perfect spot to meet someone for happy hour. It's a good spot to spend a lazy Sunday. One of the best perks about the place is that Rutts Hutt is across the streeet for when you get hungry. Ghost Hawk also throws great outdoor events with food trucks and local vendors selling their products. If your lucky you might catch a local hardcore show one night. Overall GH is a great brewery with great people always having a good time. So stop in, grab a beer and say high to Steve!! Don't forget to take a bag of beers to go. 4.5 stars I love trying new breweries and Ghost Hawk had been on my list for a while. I saw that they were hosting an end-of-summer event called Poured Fresh, which included a variety of vendors, food tents, live music, and access to the brewery and its neighbor, Silk City Distillery. The outdoor event was a great way to spend a warm afternoon, and I was not the only one that felt that way, as there was quite the crowd. We would have loved to grab a beer and sit on the patio to enjoy the live music, but there were sadly no seats. Instead, we grabbed a high-top table in the brewery and listened to similarly enjoyable recorded tunes on their internal sound system. While my companion guarded our table, I went up to the bar to order. I inquired about tasting flights, but, understandably, they were unable to accommodate those during the hectic event. However, the gracious bartender gave me a sample of the Peach Daedalion fruity wheat beer, which I had thought I had wanted, but actually found artificial tasting. So, instead, I decided to get a pint of the A Pale and A Piece of Mind, which was a crispy, refreshing, and easy to drink (too many of) West Coast Pale Ale. It was an excellent brew and had more structure than my partner's Feldkind harvest lager. Now that I know what a cool and friendly place Ghost Hawk Brewing is, I will definitely be back on a regular day. read more

It's a small intimate space which still provides a nice ambiance for social festivities. Our nonprofit hosted a happy hour here awhile back which worked out great. Big warehouse/production facility and hip bar mashup vibes here. Excellent beer. Super close to NYC and right in the shadow of routes 21 and 3 and the Passaic River. Parking out front and Holy Grail Burgers pop up tent to beat those pernicious NJ anti-food brewery laws. Dog friendly. Giant coolers stocked with to-go cans. This place has it all. My girlfriend and I visited on a Sunday afternoon for the first time recently. We sat at the bar and tried several of the beers. 10 beers on tap plus a few additional can pours, and a very impressive amount of variety in the offerings. We especially loved the Updraft (Mai Bock) and BEIRA (strong scotch ale). We love dogs and there were several in the brewery, including one medium sized dog comically perched on the lap of the woman next to us at the bar. Be advised if dogs aren't your thing. We live an hour and a half away and would be here all the time if we lived closer. We've been to a lot of NJ breweries over the years and this is definitely one of the better breweries in the state, in our humble opinion. read more

I've heard a lot about Ghost Hawk before so it has been on my list for a while. It was a nice day for a drive, so we decided to drive there. It was a lot smaller than I envisioned. It is like a garage. They have about four tables outside in the parking lot. There was a food truck outside that you could get food at. The inside was dark with some sitting. After asking the bartender what he recommended for someone who doesn't really drink beer, I had the cherry beer, I don't really like cherry, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. There is a distillery next door, but they are not the same owners, so you can't get a drink at one and enjoy it at the other. I wish you could, because I prefer cocktails. My husband said he enjoyed his beers a lot. I am not sure if we will be returning anytime soon. read more

Another very nice NJ craft brewery in a nice industrial space with high ceilings and lots of fresh air I never heard of Rutt's before, but evidently it is a NJ landmark for hot dog lovers. I mention because it is across the street and giant and dilapidated! Group next to us brought in their hot dogs and fries. If you see Rutt's, you are near Ghost Hawk. Next door is a distillery. And nearby is entrance to 3 West. I liked that the brewery offered a variety of glass sizes to try their beers. I thought the best was Apex Predator, a citrusy IPA. Ravendark was ok, but I prefer stouts and porters with a bit more coffee taste. The two women tenders kept everyone happy and the tables clean. From what I can see they do kit offer food. You are free to bring in food. Several folks, including us, ordered pizza from elsewhere to eat inside. The guy behind the bar was friendly and helpful. Weather started getting warmer so we decided to try this brewery spot I've been eyeing for a while. The bartenders were great in helping us choose brews based on our preference and we tried the tasting bar that includes 4 tastings. Being in the Bergen County area and having reading somewhere that Ghost Hawk was a place to visit, a visit HAD to be made. Entering the brewery is full sized bar with counter seating. On the right are stainless steel tanks for wort and fermentation, back lite with soft warm lighting. The brewery is inviting, warm and super chill. Ordered was an Apex Preditor, a NEIPA @ 6.8% ABV and a Putin Huylo, a Ukrainian Strong Ale@ 8.8% ABV. The Apex Preditor has a lot of fruity character derived from the Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and Ekuanot hops. It's hoppy but not overly grassy and has a bit of lingering hop burn on the finish. Putin Huylo, derived from Pilsner malt with Caramunich and sugar. Dry hopped with a touch of coriander, German Perle hops with German Saphir lends to a unique aroma of subtle spiceness, smoothness and sweetness. This isn't my typical type of beer but it is a charity beer for the brave people of Ukraine. Get it!! Definitely worth a visit. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff and good beers. Went with some friends to Ghost Hawk on Saturday, and enjoyed our beers in their "dumpster chateau" - high top tables well socially distanced in their side parking lot. Pro tip - BYO camping chair and snacks. Clearly we had a good time - we stayed WAY longer than planned, and are already talking about going back for a second visit! They have both pints and cans available. Favorite beers were the From the Mire NE IPA and the Attention Economy West Coast IPA. Parking in their lot and on the street are both free. "This guy always gives out five stars when there's booze involved." - you But hear me out! This place really deserves all them stars because their beers are wildly delicious and unique and "session-able". (I'm not an IPA fan, so I can't speak on those but the rest were stellar.) As you drive down the street of course your eye drifts towards Rutt's Hut but you pull into the driveway across the street and it's pretty nondescript. Then you see a few of "those types" (tattoos, dark clothing, hip to the scene) milling by the #6 door and you know you're at the right place. You walk inside and immediately you know it's awesome. The size of the place, the music is actually good and cranking (but not too loud, thank you!), and the beer menu. That damn beer menu. It's not cheap but it's definitely worth what you're paying. (And between you and me - the Mrs. got a nice buzz and wasn't even trying to hide the fact that she was going to "five finger discount" a few of their coasters.) Kid-friendly. No food. I love this brewery. In truth I am hopelessly in love with their servings of Beira, which is a Strong Scotch Ale. And as they'll tell you it isn't Scotch, it is an Ale done in a Scottish style. Yeah...cool. They have a really cool bar tasting room setup that opens in the late afternoon with a comfortable atmosphere. I have not tried all of their offerings because I keep coming back for their Beira. They have options to bar 4 pack cans that are 16oz. Really, it's more of an 8 pack because you'd likely pour this over a couple Scotch Ale snifter glasses. I look forward to returning and trying more of their craft beer. read more

My friend and I had a great time at Ghost Hawk last night. I was searching for a place to grab a drink and this brewery popped up in my Yelp search. I was totally clueless that there was a new brewery so close to me in Clifton! And across from Rutt's Hut?! Sign me up! The brewery is in an industry complex / building. The layout and atmosphere was just a very cool vibe. The purplely / pink neon lights are a nice touch. It was certainly not packed and we were able to grab a high top table by the garage door. We began with a flight. We tried their Lager, the Cherry Daedalion, the Saison D'Automne, and their Leaves Turn. All of the beer was great! I never had a Ghost Hawk beer and I definitely plan to buy some in the future. There wasn't really one I didn't like. The Cherry Daedalion was my favorite and I'm usually not a big fan of cherry wheat beer. It was just sweet enough, not tart, and just a delight to drink. The Leaves Turn beer was a hit too, it was a delicious nut brown ale. I also very much appreciate that they offer 5oz, 10oz, and 16oz pours. That's the way to do it! All of the staff were friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back to Ghost Hawk. I'll grab a couple of rippers from Rutts Hut and head over for some delicious craft beer. read more

I was glad to see this place finally open on 4/20/19. Three of us went a few days ago and everything seems to be up and running well. Located in a small commercial warehouse crop of buildings it has one of those large overhead doors that just open the place up. Bar, tables, funky lighting right among the brewery equipment decor. Surprised they had a LIVE guitar player start up about 3pm on a Saturday. 7 beers were available on tap. Nice mixture of types. I always recommend to go to the breweries website for what is current. The Apex Predator was a kick in the ass IPA. What's especially nice about the location is that literally next door is Silk City Distillery. Open for you to partake in it's creations. I was following this brewery over in IG for a while and finally decided to come and check it out. The place has a parking area in from of it. It has no AC, but it was well ventilated. The site has a nice wide bar area and a lot of excellent merchandise. The business has a lot to offer. I loved the selection of ales and the creative names of each one. I chose to get samplers, and every each of the beers I tried had a unique flavor. They don't have a kitchen, so probably you can bring your snacks as most of the beers has high alcohol content. read more

You can easily find parking on the street though. We got two beer flights, $13 each, 4 beers per flight. We sampled all the beers, which were delicious. Some were lighter, some more floral, some with a more leathery taste. All in all, it was a great experience to be able to try specialty beers. Environment is super laid-back and casual. Not quite sure why I haven't been to this Brewery sooner but happy that I decided to pay it a visit because it's super close to my place! A little tricky to find on the GPS but I was able to find it once I figured out it was right across the street from Rutt's Hut which has also been on my list of places to visit! As soon as you walk into Ghost Hawk, you are blown away by the very cool, modern, industrial feel that this Brewery has. They have a few high tops and in the back there are tables along with Board Games you could play with friends or I even saw some families with their kids :) They do offer flights for $11 which I think is the way to go when trying out a new brewery. I went with 3- Cherry Daedalion,1- Ghost Hawk, 9- Simcoe's Fluffy Tail and 6 - Paddy's Pot O' Gold. I must say that hands down #6 Paddy's Pot O'Gold was my favorite. My brewery tour continues, and Ghost Hawk is almost the 90th one I have visited in NJ alone. The initial rush mentioned in earlier reviews is now over, so you should feel free to go there without worry that it'll be too crazy. Ghost Hawk is a small to medium-sized brewery. It's a nice alternative to going to a bar, when you just want a beer. I noticed that their set-up is geared towards that crowd of people. They have a fairly large bar, as well as some high top seating. The beers all taste fresh, and they have the typical variety people are looking for. The best beer I tried was their flagship lager, and I ended up getting a whole glass of it after having tried it in the flight. The guys who are serious beer enthusiasts, who trade for Trillium, Troon, etc... wouldn't think this place is perfect. The service was attentive. The crowd is relatively laid-back, given that it's in North Jersey. As a Central Jersey person, I am often taken aback on how standoffish people can be up north or in the city. This place seemed to be as friendly as you could expect a North Jersey establishment to be. They also had a wide variety of ages. However, I didn't learn much about how they got started, and I didn't see an owner around. There's a distillery right next door, too. There's also a vintage hot dog place across the street. Ghost Hawk is relatively easy to get to, being located off major highways. read more

Even in this crazy time, Ghost Hawk is still brewing up some tasty suds. Simple- there's a chalkboard with today's choices, a knowledgeable person behind the counter and cold beer for the taking. I'm a big fan of the lager! FYI, no cash only card payments, the downside, you swipe your own card and complete the transaction on an ipad. Cool aesthetic. Industrial new wave feel with steel, matte black and glowing pinks. High top tables line the walls and plenty of room for groups at the picnic tables in the back. They had a collections of fun games to choose from and the place was extremely kid friendly. The ability to bring in your own food is a clear plus with a legendary Jersey eatery right across the street. We went up and down the taps trying everything they had to offer. Flights were reasonably priced as well as the take out growlers. My personal opinion stands that they have a well rounded selection that is a "something for everyone" approach. Their signature lager will stand with the macro brew crowd, their Apex Predator was a solid enough IPA and their Nut Brown also stood out. Pro Tip: They have a special pick up time in the morning of NFL games at MetLife stadium. Did a sampler of 4 closest to IPA's. Loved everyone of them. They are definitely popular and are available in lots of bars/restaurants. Score for the little guy! Love the fact they are local Clifton guys. Plenty of parking on the street. Rutts is across the st so food is a few feet away. They also have a food truck outside. First brewery in Passaic county since prohibition, 15 barrel system but few fermentation tanks so only pouring six beers on opening day: a fine lager, two IPAs, two wheats and a really yummy stout. Standard industrial space ambience taproom, no picnic tables or seating just some standing tables. Absolute bedlam on opening day, a long line to get in and nearly impossible to get a beer from the disorganized bartenders but we persevered. Kudos for making a lager, not easily done in such limited fermentation space, I really enjoyed the Ghost Hawk, $6 for a pint. The Ravendark stout was my favorite, not adulterated with coffee just perfect. Standing room for a couple hundred people, parking space for all of 10 cars. Leave your ride around the corner on a quiet street, I don't recommend using the Rutt's lot. read more

I love the actual space of this brewery. there are many competitions in the area now, but i love the set up and size of this tap room. its hard for it to be completely crowded, there is plenty of indoor space and a large garage door that is kept open for fresh air and light. the staff is down to earth and nice. bathrooms are clean and there are more than one. theres hightops, a full bar to sit at, and picnic benches inside. As far as the beer, for 4 samples on a flight for $10. right now there are only 7 beer and i got all 4 that were non IPA. I hate ipas! $6 the cheery wheat is a must get. that beer is delicious. otherwise, the other 3 i tried just didnt stand out to me. i felt they werent unique. however, the cherry wheat tastes good, has a nice bite to it, and is perfect for all year round. i will gladly be back in a few months once they get variations of beer. read more
