At first we were hesitant to have dinner here, but everywhere you go in a Saturday night is always Jam Pack! This is a hidden gem for sur. It's not fancy, more like a diner vibe but very clean. The hostess and waitress were both very friendly and always kept checking g up on you mami g sure your drinks were topped off without even asking. Hubby ordered the grill salmon and I a lobster tail both cooked to perfection. The garlic shrimp was fresh and flavorful. Our least favorite item was the clams and mussels the were over cooked and lacked seasoning, compared to the devious garlic shrimp we ordered. I ordered a mojito I ask the hostess how they make them here soda verses sparkling water the bartender specifically came to our table and explained to me how they make it and how I would I like to have it he would do it. Needless to say it was perfection! Most defiantly going back again. This will be our new date spot the service was amazing, the place was clean and the food was fresh and delicious! The staff is sort of rude and inattentive, at least our server was another woman made sure we had refills and such. The food was mediocre. One person in my party got a filet mignon and it was mostly fatty, another person got the tri tip dip with fries that were unflavored and stale, and two of us got Alfredo sauce that was runny and unflavored as well. Yes driving up to this place....it does look like a dive bar. My daughter and I had lunch on the patio which was nice and clean. It was really warm and the staff tried to accommodate by placing rotating fans in various spots and they were very nice and answered all the questions we had regarding their menu. We had salads which were great, they make their own cream Italian dressing and sandwiches. I had the sausage link sandwich, my daughter had the steak sandwich but instead of Texas toast, she requested sourdough . Both dishes were delicious!! We washed down our food with beer and enjoyed the county music playing through the air. I thought the prices were reasonable because after all, you can't put a price tag on a great food. We will definitely be back. Looking forward to checking out the inside when the dine in restrictions are lifted again and hopefully soon. Sick of this crap. read more

I Tried to go in for a take out order, they did not accept my take out order the day before Mother's Day. They said it was due to Mother's Day being all booked, but they're closed on Sundays which makes no sense. They told me that the order would take took long to do, but the restaurant wasn't full when I arrived. So their reason and explanation wasn't adding up or making any sense, I really think they just didn't want to accept any take out orders that day. What a hidden little gem. I had asked around if people had eaten here, not many said yes. Most shared that it had been a while. Well I tell you what it's time to make another visit! The appys, we had calamari & fried zucchini, were fresh and perfectly breaded. The cocktails were classic and everyone was very complementary of their main dish from the lamb stew to the chicken piccata and the steaks too! Your dinner can be a lot more enjoyable if you ask your server to ask the cook to hold the salt on everything.Most times all chefs will add salt while the the dish is cooking and that can make for a very very salty dinner. My husband had sweet breads penne pasta with the veggie plate. He had clam chowder soup. All was very pleasantly prepared! I had the Braised Veal Chop medium rare with the same side dish, starch and soup as my husband. This was by far the very best dinner we have had here at the location they are at now. All round service was perfect, waitstaff had it together and we will be back very very soon! 10 Stars for everything read more

We finally had a chance to try Gervasoni's since they moved to the McHenry Avenue location. My dinner salad and his clam chowder were very good. My boyfriend ordered pork chops, and he loved them. The grilled vegetables along with that were delicious. I ordered the sweet breads, which are one of my favorites but they need to take this off the menu. They were totally not prepared right and almost inedible. Friendly staff and it was a very clean restaurant. read more

So glad Gervasoni's is opening! Soft open last night - bar was very busy and happy, restaurant about half full... should be a great success! Friendly concerned staff... they all want you to be happy. They did a nice double dirty martini and the salad was fresh and good. We both ordered ribeye steak ($34) with choice of sides - we tried red pasta - good - and rice pilaf - also good and fresh vegetables - very good. The steaks were cooked perfectly medium-rare. I hope Gervasoni's checks out other beef suppliers... the ribeyes were flavorful but had a lot of connective tissue and didn't quite make it on tenderness. Our gold standard for ribeye / spencer is Jockos down in Nipomo CA.... really thick, seared crust, huge flavor, tennnder (and less expensive). For a soft open, Gervasoni's did GREAT! High-five! We'll definitely come back. read more

I had friends who recommended this restaurant. The level of service and food was sub par. They had a letter at the front door warning about the service delays due to lack of available employees, so we could have walked away but we had time so we dined in. Food took a long while to get and the same thing for refills on drinks, which like I said was expected. It took a little over 45 minutes to get my steak and my wife to get her chicken marsala. There was one server and one cook in the building. There were about 5 parties within the restaurant at the time. My filet mignon was ordered as medium rare and it came out medium well instead so very chewy and overcooked. My wife's chicken marsala was ok. Would I come again? I don't think I would, at least not until things with covid get really back to normal and more employees are available to provide smoother and better service. read more

For starters, I am along time fan of Gervasoni's. I was really upset when the City of Modesto decided that a courthouse would serve the community better than a superb restaurant. Since they have opened in their new location on Mc Henry Avenue, we (my wife and myself) have been there several times. Frankly, I'm really happy that they have moved close to Escalon, where we live. As for the restaurant, the service is great, and the food is wonderful. We have had a variety of the dishes and they have ALL been terrific. Tonight, we had Rack Of Lamb. Fantastic!! You can't miss at Gervasoni's!! As a side note, if you are looking for something unusual, try the SweetBreads. read more

First time visiting since the relocation and I'm happy to say it was delicious. Instead of having a designated Basque night like they did at their old location they have many of the Basque favorites on the menu all the time. Tonight we had an appetizer of the Basque pigs feet just like they meet at Villa basque in Stockton. The waitress said they'll have shortbreads on the menu shortly and then on Wednesday nights they supplement their menu with Oso Buco or lamb shanks. We loved this restaurant downtown Modesto. Love this place more. Three of us had calamari (delicious), fried oysters (yummy), angus burger with blue cheese and bacon, and great bloody Mary's. Happy this place is now on McHenry. Our waitress, Hanna was fantastic. We met Taylor, who was also very nice. Highly recommend this place. We will be back again soon!!! read more

after a string of aweful meals in the area, we decided to try someplace new (and old!) we had not eaten at the new location on Mchenry and were so excited to hear that they offered additional lamb dishes on Weds nights (downtown, it was called basque night). Drinks were spot on! Food was delicious!! I had the chicken Marsala and it was heaven!! I would have enjoyed a little more sauce but I can never get enough! I felt the portions were perfect otherwise! My date had the chicken Parmesan with white sauce and veggies and he was very please with his meal. I Tasted the white sauce and I must say it was flavorful! And I am picky about my white sauce. I really appreciated the waitress bringing us a sample of the soup to try. We thought we figured out who the bartender was, and our waitress...but it was like everyone was all over the place and I didn't really know who I was supposed to ask for stuff from.
