I will start by saying the food here is amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the appetizers were delish. We ordered the asparagus and the Brussels sprouts as appetizers and split the New York steak. I'm giving a 5-star here because it's rare to find things up to this standard, but I have some points for improvement. The service was good, but my drink order was incorrect. Not a big deal or worth one less start. However, the ambiance is close but not quite. We had a reservation and, upon arrival, were seated between two full tables. One had two children who were loud and wiggly throughout our whole meal. (Nothing against children, they were totally appropriate for their age and very cute) But it would be nice if reservations had designated areas that were a bit farther away from the crunch of the walk-in crowd. ALL the waitstaff and manager (I think- blue floral polo) were very focused on closure for the full hour. Unloading clean dishes, stocking the bar, a lot of watch checking. I've been here twice (2 times) but I'm Yelping about the most recent one. The food is great but pretty expensive. about $30, more or less per person. The service was very slow, and there wasn't a lot of people in total. We had to ask for the desert menu ourselves. If we hadn't asked, then the kitchen would have closed before we got our desert. Not very loud. It was someone's birthday and we chose to get a (free) cupcake for them. They got rid of a certain item, tacos or something. Somebody in the fam was shocked about that. A couple of the many lights were out. The waitress barely checked on us. Some came after us and they got served first. Tables, chairs, and such are clean. Restrooms are nice (for the women's.) The paper towel dispenser was the least-best part. It would come out in shreds almost, or get backed up. Overall, I would come back. I just hope that the service is better. Sorry! read more

Came here for lunch to have my wife try this place for the first time. I was looking forward to getting steak but realize their lunch menu was different than their dinner menu. They didn't have any "steak" entree so I went with the Cowboy Capital Cheeseburger ($23). Waitress asked if I wanted fries or salad so opted to be healthy and get salad. Was surprised that adding that instead of fries was an additional $2! Ouch. Would have been nice if the waitress had let me known that. My wife had the salad and upgraded with steak. $29 And she tried the bowl of clam chowder $8. So for the burger, it was pretty good but not sure I can justify the price since the menu doesn't say it's "Angus" or grade A beef. To be honest though, there's a lot of good burger places at a fairer price that's under $23. My wife had the steak in her salad labeled as "Snake river farms wagyu". Her first impression was it had a funny smell when her salad was given but it seemed she liked it. Sadly for lunch, $79 bill and add tip, I can't justify a $94 price for lunch.. lol. Service was good. Our waitress was very nice and the staff in general were cordial. Now that my wife has tried this place, I think we are good for awhile to come here. Happy New Year! My husband and I wanted to celebrate New Year's Eve by going out to eat. We thought about some of our favorite restaurants nearby but didn't really feel like staying in town. We also didn't want to have to drive too far out of town either. Bistro 120 was the perfect solution! We were able to make reservations in advance for an early dinner which was ideal. Upon being seated at our table our server took our beverage order and brought our drinks very promptly. We noticed the restaurant was decorated very festively with evergreen wreaths which added a great touch. We placed our food orders and enjoyed the lively atmosphere and celebratory vibe. Our food was delicious as always. I devoured the sea bass while my husband devoured his rib eye. No visit to Bistro 120 would be complete without the infamous butter cake. There are simply no words that accurately describe the flavor explosion of that cake. It is absolutely divine. We went with a few friends for a trip date night and we all loved our food. The service was fantastic & we had a reservation that was helpful on a Saturday night. The front of the restaurant can be seen from Highway 120, but the parking and main entrance is to the rear of the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant has a really clean and modern vibe to it. The front of the restaurant has a large L shape bar along with bar top seating. There are several tables in the front. There is a long hall that leads towards the rear of the restaurant. In the hall there are several tables lining the wall along the walkway. The rear seating is more of an intimate setting with includes some tables for larger parties with a gas fireplace insert for added ambiance. I have found the staff to always be a pleasure to deal with from the hostess to our personal server. There are plenty of drink and food options that are sure to appeal to everyone. I ordered the prime rib French dip and it did not disappoint. The bun was soft and fresh. The meat was tender, juicy and had great taste. The au jus complimented it well for a nice bite. The French fries also complimented the sandwich well. They taste good, had a nice crunch and were not over oily or salted. If you find yourself in the Oakdale area, this is a must visit restaurant. read more

Decent dinner last night. I had the wagu NY steak and everyone else had the burgers. My meal was okay and got cold quit due to the way the mashed potatoes were spread out over the plate. Ultimately I couldn't finish due to temperature as hardened buttered potatoes were not enjoyable. Steak was okay but not worth $67. I enjoyed the updates to the beer menu and enjoyed my Fieldwork hazy Pulp. apps were good with the lamb shanks the popular choice. After noshing on a tasty dish of breaded asparagus with a tangy aioli, the GG went for an ahi salad which she loved. I ordered the special, grilled cheese and tomato soup. Their version was an absolute delight to eat. The cheese, a Gouda blend, was literally oozing between two chunks of Texas Toast. Cheryl recommended trying their dessert speciality..... My husband and I just returned from dinner at Bistro 120. We have dined here a few times since it opened. We made reservations and asked for a four top so not to be crowded and that was accomplished. The hostess was very pleasant and seated us quickly. Waters were served soon after and our server, Deanna, came by to get our service started. My husband ordered a margarita and I ordered a Hendricks and tonic. Oddly, the salt was heavy on only one side. We perused the menu and decided on soup, salad and mains. One of our critiques of Bistro 120 is their apps are very limited and none appeal to us. We waited at least twenty minutes for our cocktails. Deanna came by and took our order. My husband ordered a bowl of clam chowder and the filet, rare. I ordered the wedge salad and the ribeye, medium rare. Our cocktails finally arrived as did our soup and salad. My husband enjoyed his soup and my salad was fresh and delicious! Before too long, our entrees arrived. My husbands soup was removed when finished but the entrees arrived before I was finished with my salad. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his filet mignon, both in quality and in preparation. My ribeye was perfectly medium rare and delicious. Since we were celebrating our anniversary, we had to order dessert. My hubby ordered the chocolate brownie with ice cream and I ordered the butter cake without ice cream, just whipped cream. Both thoroughly enjoyed. We entered this place with our service dog. At the front, a couple of very nice staff greeted us, and we let them know we had a service dog. The staff was very nice and friendly. They took us to a fairly spacious table since we came with a dog. Everything was great until a bald older guy came to our table and, without saying hi or anything, said, "Dogs in car." Literally nothing else. I showed him the paperwork, and he tried to snatch it from my hand, which I reminded him he can't take legally and can't request the documents legally, but I was nice enough to show it to him. I waited a couple more minutes, but I didn't feel safe sitting there anymore after I saw how dissatisfied he was. Crazy world--what if he adds something to our food? We just left. I started with the Brussels sprouts appetizer, which had an unusual citrus flavor that I did not enjoy. I also ordered the $22 hamburger, and the meat patty was very thin and seemed low quality. When my hamburger was served, I asked for mustard and mayonnaise, but after waiting so long that my food began to get cold, I went to the kitchen to ask the cook for them myself. My family and I have always enjoyed coming to Bistro 120 in Oakdale, which is why this recent experience was so disappointing. As a parent of a child with autism, I cannot express how much effort, planning, and emotional energy it takes just to enjoy a simple meal out as a family. When we find a place where we feel comfortable, it becomes a meaningful and rare part of our routine. My son has autism and significant sensory and dietary limitations. He cannot always eat restaurant food, so I bring a small meal for him so he can participate and feel included. In the past, the staff at Bistro 120 had always been understanding about this, and that consistency is the only reason we felt comfortable returning without calling ahead each time. During our recent visit, however, the staff became upset that I hadn't notified them in advance. While I fully respect restaurant policies, I also want to be very clear: Children with autism are protected under federal disability law. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), restaurants must provide reasonable modifications to their policies when necessary for a person with a disability (42 U.S.C. § 12182(b)(2)(A)(ii)). Autism is legally recognized as a disability, and businesses are required to adjust "no outside food" policies when needed for disability-related reasons (28 C.F.R. § 36.302). Allowing outside food for sensory or dietary needs is not optional it is a protected accommodation. Being made to feel uncomfortable and singled out for something that had always been permitted was hurtful. Families like mine already live with challenges most people don't see: sensory overload, strict routines, meltdowns, dietary struggles, and the constant need to advocate so our children can simply be included like everyone else. I'm sharing this not out of anger, but out of hope. I hope Bistro 120 takes this as an opportunity to reflect, improve communication, and ensure that families with disabilities are treated with the understanding and consistency the law requires. At the end of the day, I do appreciate that the staff tried to make it up afterward but by then it was already too late. We are not a family that likes to make a scene, so we quietly carried the sadness of the moment with us. It just shouldn't have happened in the first place. I truly hope no other family has to feel the way we did, and that future experiences can be handled with more compassion and awareness. read more

Booked a reservation on OpenTable the morning of for our anniversary dinner. We arrived 20 mins early and were sat immediately. Servers were very kind and wished us happy anniversary multiple times! We ordered philly cheese steak, clam chowder, and some bread as appetizers. For drinks, we had the raspberry lemonade topo choco drinks. We ordered medium well wagyu new york steaks. All of the food tasted amazing, however the wagyu new york steaks came out very rare and they had to cook it again. When they redelivered the food, my husband ate his about medium rare, but mine was also medium rare, but it was still too red for me, so they had to cook it again. (Sorry, I know people like their Wagyu and steaks on the more rare side, but I can't) The service and employees were extremely nice. They were apologetic about my steak and wanted to take my entree off the bill, but we declined and wanted to pay full price for it, as the food all tasted great. They offered to give us dessert on the house and we accepted. I couldnt say no to free dessert. We ordered the brownie and honey cake and both tasted amazing. We wanted to finish it, but were too full. Thank you for hosting us and we will definitely come back to try the other dishes on the menu. As far as ambiance, the noise level was not very loud. It was not too busy and not too quiet. We could occasionally hear the chefs kitchen and hear them cheering on each other, which is a great sign for their team work. We were driving through Oakdale and were glad we chose this spot to stop by for lunch. Ample indoor dining, and spacious modern vibes. I loved my Seared Ahi Tuna Salad which was super refreshing. Generally I find arugula-based salads a bit bitter, but I think the vinaigrette they used really tampered down on that. My husband really enjoyed the flavors in his Chicken sandwich. To start the waitress and hostess were great. Unfortunately we made reservations for their more private room. We were told our party was able to place up decorations. upon our arrival on time we were told the room was still occupied. After waiting for over 20 minutes past our reservation time we were seated in an open location with tables placed together due to the room still being occupied. After our dinner I wanted to speak with the manager and express how disappointed I was with what was explained over the phone and what had transpired after we had arrived. The manager, a bald male, was extremely unprofessional and decided to argue every point I was trying to make. He at one point insinuated he could not do anything about our bill though I had never asked for a discount. He further stated the 'private' room was first come first serve, No decorations were allowed to be placed per house policy, The party would have never been sat if we weren't all at the restaurant. None of that was explained when making the reservation or we would have chosen a different location. Overall the experience with the rest of the staff was pleasant and the food was great. read more

We stopped in for only a drink. The place is nice and comfortable. Bathrooms are clean. So, we sat at the bar and for almost 20 minutes it was as if we were invisible. I finally took the chance to ask a bartender "how do we order a drink her"? She was polite and said she would take care of us immediately.... She disappeared and about 5 minutes later, she came and got our drinks. Before she walked away, I asked her for a second beer because it was so hard to get the first one. She said "yeah sure" but then walked away and I never got it. Overall it was "okay". There was one thing that really bothered me..... As I sat at the bar I noticed several people drinking bottles of Modelo beer as was I. I had seen on the meñu that Modelo was $5.00/ bottle. When I received my tab, I noticed I was charged $6.00/bottle. I brought it to the server's attention and she told me that hey had recently changed their prices then hesitantly asked me if I wanted her to adjust my tab.... I told her I did but it seems the adjustment should have been made without asking me. They made the adjustment but I walked away thinking about all the other people that were not aware they were paying $1.00 too much on each bottle of Modelo not to mention any other items that show a lower price on the meñu. read more

We came here to celebrate my father in law's birthday. The inside is well decorated, dimly lit, and has an interesting layout. We were seated on the side by the from entrance but this place is quite large and has a larger seating area for big parties. The server was very nice and helped explain everything well. The food was pretty good. I enjoyed the Philly cheese sliders and was very content with my salmon. The ancient grains may not be for everyone but they allow substitutes if you are not keen on them.
