While visiting friends in Baltimore, my front tire went flat.Gerry had to order two tires and came in on Dec. 31 even though he was closed for business.Prior to the tire installation, he discovered a hairline crack in the wheel.Impossible to find a wheel and installed on New Years Eve. He was able to seal the crack so we could get back to NH.He has vast knowledge of tires. He was very helpful in getting me the info I needed. He was very fair with his pricing.You will never get this type of attention from the national tire distributors.Our Baltimore friends and family will be using Gerry's for their tire needs.Thank You Gerry for all your help. Gerry's has amazing customer service. They are so polite and kind to their customers and it seems like half of the people who come in are treated like family and have known them for years. I needed a tire repair and they got me in right away and was done earlier than they promised. I had to confess that I'd googled them before, drove by their old store and kept going. The actual location is super nice with coffee, water and magazines. Apparently, the city made them move 10+ years ago and never did anything with the old building. Since they no longer own it, they can't get rid of the sign. So don't be distracted like I did!! read more

My daughter visited us this weekend and I realized her vehicle needed two front tires which no dealer had in stock, (we live in the Valley Forge, PA area). As she lives in the inner harbor we decided to look near her home and found Gerry's Tire Service. I took a shot and emailed them just so it'd be on their radar for the first thing Monday when they got into the shop. To my amazement I got a reply within an hour...ON A SUNDAY when they were closed! The reviews don't lie! Frank and John were both super helpful and friendly. I pulled in at 7:30 on my way to work with a nail in my tire. Apparently my wheels have locks, so they had to find the key to unlock the tire. Once they found it, John called me outside and showed me how to find it and what to do if I ever need to get a wheel off again. [I thought that was above and beyond.] I was out of there by 8:30 with my tire successfully patched and it only cost me $30. I will definitely be going back with any future car needs! Love these guys. I discovered a nail in my tire on a Sunday. Knowing that Gerry's was closed, I sent them an email asking if I could bring my car by sometime on Monday to have the tire repaired. I figured that I would hear something from them on Monday. A few minutes later, John replied and told me to bring it in anytime on Monday. I did, and they promptly fixed it for a fair price. The customer service and responsiveness was definitely above average. The staff informed me of all pertinent repair information and gave due diligence in presenting options for repair. My car required a starter motor replacement and the repair was completed start to finish same business day. CAUTIONARY TALE: my car was towed to their lot on Saturday and since they do not service on weekends, it was not handled by the company until Monday. In that time, my car was vandalized with the passenger window completely smashed. The owner claimed no liability since he has a sign that states he is not responsible for any damage for vehicles parked in that lot. He did file a police report for me but did not cover the window damage, although did replace for a very reasonable cost. Nonetheless, the service was top notch and very responsive. Fast, friendly, helpful. A delightful experience, in fact. (When was the last time you heard tire service described as 'delightful?' It's absolutely accurate here.) I'm no expert, but growing up in a family of mechanics has given me enough experience to know when I'm being sold. There was none of that. Unlike some of the big chain shops I've visited, there was no attempt to convince me to buy convoluted package deals. None of that "I shouldn't even leave you drive out of here" bullshit either. I live in Fell's Point and have been getting tire/alignment work done at Gerry's for years. Always impressed by their service. All their employees are very professional, no nonsense, and they stand by their work. After a recent encounter with a pothole, they replaced a tire and rim, at an excellent price considering the service. I saved a lot compared to buying the same set online considering the time and headaches the later involves. They rechecked my bearings a week later as a courtesy. Highly recommend. read more

Great shop, clean, well run, great service. This is one of those rare independent shops that does it right. My wife, who works half a mile away from Gerry's, was always talking about nice Terry is (the owner), and I finally got to meet him today. Really friendly, willing to stop and chat a bit -- and most importantly for us all -- the kind of guy you can trust. Terry took over this shop 37 years ago, and still runs it, with a consistent crew of guys, some of whom he's been with for decades. He treats them right (for instance: buys them breakfast and lunch every day!) and the shop has a peaceful, harmonious feel: no scowls, easy smiles. Pretty good for a tire shop, I say. I was in to put new tires on my 2009 Infiniti G37x Sport, and it was done quickly while I waited (I set up the appointment a week in advance though). A test drive up I-83 confirmed that the job was done right and that the tires were well balanced. No reservations recommending Gerry's... I'll be back even if I have to drive out of my way. Had a pair of new tires and needed them mounted and balanced--called in on a Friday, dropped car off Monday 8am and was rolling out of the parking by 10AM. Costed $60 total. They were super nice and was able to fit me in and do the change quickly so I only had to wait in the office for about a little over an hour, enjoying the AC and listening to a recap of last night's crazy US vs Portugal world cup match. The wait was much shorter than expected. Two tips: Yes, park your car across the street in their 2 lots just as another Yelper mentioned. And do check your tire pressures afterwards, my new tires were over-inflated--one by about 5 psi cold. read more

Wow, so appreciative and impressed by the honest and reliable service at Gerry's. I had been here for tire repairs before but didn't realize until recently that they were a full service auto shop. My 2015 Ford Fusion started acting wonky last week. I was an hour away and it kept shutting down and the check engine light went on. I restarted it a few times and same thing happened. I let it sit overnight and in morning it started and ran totally fine and check engine light went off. I didn't want to just ignore the original issue in case it happened again. I travel a bit for work and didn't want to break down away from home. Called Gerry's and they had me bring it in early morning. Pat called a couple hours later to let me know they saw a fuel pressure alert in the system (perhaps triggered by low fuel) but they checked out all my systems and my car looked good. It was likely just a glitch and no repairs needed. They didn't even charge me to check it out. So appreciative for the great service and honesty. Very glad that there were no repairs needed at this time, but I will certainly be back when there is an issue or next time I need regular maintenance. Thank you Pat and the Gerry's Tire team! I recently visited Gerry's tire for an oil change , and by the yelp reviews I believed I had found a hidden gem in Baltimore city being that I'am from out of town. I dropped my vehicle off for service , I was later informed that my vehicle needed additional filters . I obliged . Once I came to pick up my vehicle i was extremely satisfied with their service and hospitality until I checked my tires. I noticed that a hub cap was missing on my vehicle . The shop was closed and I figured it was an honest mistake and decided to call the following Monday to rectify the situation. Unfortunately I was met with a response of " we put all 4 back on your vehicle " which was not the truth, then he began to lecture about how hubcaps go on vehicles. Being college educated i was offended , just because I'm a woman does NOT warrant ignorance . I did not call being hostile or expecting any money. I simply wanted my hub cap returned. Unfortunately I will not be returning to this establishment, I expect to be respected as a customer and to be able to trust that my vehicle will Be returned in its original form. read more

My car had a slow leak and I was nervous to drive it an hour back to DC. I googled the closest tire repair, called Gerry's and was welcomed to bringing my car right over. I pulled up, walked in and turned over the keys. The man who assisted me, John, was pleasant, expedient and helpful! While I am not from the area, I would definitely recommend their service! Asked to diagnose a check engine light and why my car was sputtering. I was told that that both problems were caused from low oil in the engine. LIES. I checked the oil prior to dropping it off, it was right at the recommended level. Instead of using oil due to find a leak, like every other repair facility does, they "clean the engine" and then look for a leak, charging $90. After letting them have the vehicle for 3 days, they called me back to tell me that the valve cover gasket was leaking (which I already knew) and that they could not duplicate the sputtering problem or to get the check engine light to come back on. The same evening I picked the vehicle up, the car started acting up again with the same problems, sputtering and check engine light. The guys at the front desk were friendly, and the establishment is clean, they've got that going for them. They're technicians are lazy and are liars. I was scammed $180 for not figuring out my problem. Not recommending this place for anyone who needs a good technician. read more

I'm so glad I found this place! Being a woman, some mechanics try to take advantage of you and suggest repairs you absolutely don't need. Well not this place. They are all very honest people who only tell you what you need to have done. When they quote you prices, they normally include the cost of labor and tax so you aren't taken by surprise once you go to pay. They have great customer service and I highly recommend going here for any car repairs. The only downside is their hours. It's great they open really early, but they close at 4p which makes it difficult to pick up your car the same day. BUT the good news is, if you can't pick it up the same day, they have a fenced in parking lot they lock it up in which is great! read more

Never been to Gerry's before but my wife's car needed brakes and I certainly wasn't getting that done at the dealership. So, I emailed them and asked them for a quote for front and rear breaks. I receieved a response the same day for much less then the dealership so I made an appointment. I dropped the car off at 8 am as instructed. I will say this now, definitely park across the street in Gerry's two lots and then walk over. It is a pain if you pull into the garage area because they will tell you to park accross the street. It is not easy to cut accross Lombard at 8 am. They should probably tell you that prior to dropping your car off. The gentleman inside was definitely nice and helpful and he told me my car would be done by noon. I was thinking wow, that's fast. I have sat at the dealership for longer than that for a freaking oil change. Even if I was waiting, there is a little waiting area with a TV and free candy. Corned beef row is right down the street from Gerry's if you are hungry as well. (Weisse, Lenny's and Attman's) At around 11:30 am I got the call that the car was finished. That is awesome. Gerry's may have to be my new go to spot for all my car's needs. The service was fast, nice and delivered on time. I would not recommend this mechanic. In a nutshell, taking my car to Gerry's cost me additional money, time, and trouble than it should have. I initially had my car towed by AAA to Gerry's on August 21, 2019, after it broke down on the side of the road. Gerry's diagnosed the problem as being a busted fuel pump. I gave Gerry's authorization to replace it. On August 26, Gerry's called to tell me my car was ready for pickup. I paid nearly $800 for the repair. Shortly after picking it up, while I was driving back to Baltimore from Arlington, VA, my car broke down again while I was in the middle lane of the 14th Street Bridge, entering DC, during rush hour. The gas gauge read that I had 1/2 a tank of gas. I called AAA yet again, and AAA recommended that I take my car to a different, AAA-preferred mechanic in Baltimore. So, I had my car towed to AAA's recommended mechanic. That mechanic diagnosed the problem as a fuel pump issue. I called Gerry's to tell them that my car broke down again, due to the fuel pump they installed. From what I gather, the owner answered. After I began explaining the problem to him, he immediately questioned me as to why I didn't have the car towed back to Gerry's. He asserted that the terms of the warranty for the fuel pump required that the car be brought back to them if it dies within 25 miles of Gerry's. According to him, the auto parts manufacturer would've covered the towing cost. He never asked where my car died. Of course, it died in DC-well outside of a 25-mile radius. I told him that, and he then asked what I "wanted" from Gerry's. A functional fuel pump, I said. He told me he'd have to call me back. A little while later, he called and told me that I could pay to have my car towed back to Gerry's to have them fix the problem caused by their services. Instead, I suggested that, since my car was at a Baltimore garage (i.e., within 25 miles), the auto parts manufacturer should tow it, per the warranty. He said he'd have to get back to me. After all this, he offered to have the car towed back to Gerry's. Then, the AAA-preferred garage called to tell me my gas gauge was probably broken. Turns out, I didn't actually have 1/2 a tank of gas when I was on the 14th Street Bridge. An empty tank was likely the cause of the breakdown, and the faulty fuel pump may have interfered with the gas gauge. The garage put a few gallons in and charged me $190 for the diagnostics and gas. I drove my car back to Gerry's for them to replace the fuel pump. Again, the owner was confrontational and abrasive. He claimed to have replaced the fuel pump again and said that the first pump Gerry's put in may have caused the gas gauge to malfunction. The inaccuracy of the gas gauge, of course, was what led my car to die on the 14th Street Bridge. However, the owner also admitted that my gas tank was empty when I had it towed to them the first time. Gerry's did not tell me this when I hired them to do the initial diagnostics. Of course, had they told me, I would've known my gas gauge was likely inaccurate, and would have made sure my tank was sufficiently filled before driving to VA. So, one of two things happened: either Gerry's failed to identify and inform me of a malfunctioning gas gauge when I brought my car to them the first time, or the first fuel pump they put in caused it to malfunction. (My gas gauge still does not seem to be accurate, so I assume the former took place.) Either way, Gerry's was unapologetic for having played a role in my car dying in the middle of the 14th Street Bridge, during rush hour, and seemed reluctant to help me fix the issue. I had expressed an interest in Gerry's compensating me for the fee I paid at the other garage, due to Gerry's inadequate services and potentially faulty fuel pump. Gerry's never offered to do so. Indeed, Gerry's seemed disinterested in fixing the problem they either missed during the initial diagnostic (i.e., the malfunctioning gas gauge) or caused by putting in a faulty fuel pump. read more
