We had a run-in with a deer on the Olympic Loop. This Gerber was close to where we live in Crown Hill. Our experience was perfect from start to finish. They helped us coordinate with our insurance company as well as our rental car. Every Thursday they gave us a text update on the progress for our baby. (that was awesome!) Once the parts came in from GM, they wrapped it up in another week. They came in ahead of schedule and our car looks brand new again! I can't say enough good things about this auto shop! From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was in great hands. The gentleman who helped me (I wish I got his name!!) was professional, nice, and incredibly knowledgeable. They took the time to explain exactly what needed to be done and let me drop the car off early as I was going out of town. The repair itself was flawless--and they got it done earlier than expected! It's rare to find a shop that genuinely cares about their customers and the quality of their work, but this place absolutely delivers. Not only did they fix the issue quickly and efficiently, but they also returned my car clean and spotless--inside and out. It's that kind of attention to detail that sets them apart. Had a terrible experience here. We chose them because they were a preferred shop based on insurance (not mine -- the people who hit my car). I had to wait two months to get the car in for repair, which is normal these days. But after I dropped it off, I got a few daily status updates and then ... radio silence. When I checked in after a week of hearing nothing, they told me to contact the insurance -- who told me they'd heard nothing. Every person I talked to at the shop told me something different, often contradicting what the person yesterday (or that morning) told me. Several times they blamed insurance for their own delays in submitting paperwork. Most people don't go through car repair super often, so it's hard to know what to expect and what is normal. But I can say that I found dealing with Gerber frustrating and infuriating. I felt like I was being mislead at best, lied to at worst, and constantly stonewalled. I thought I'd get a timeline on repairs -- and it was always "the next step will be done tomorrow." This went on for weeks. I thought using an insurance approved repair shop would help streamline things. It did not. I'll choose differently next time. read more

Wow. I had to wait 2 1/2 months to get my car in for a repair. I scratched a door on a parking cement column. Simple door replacement, no extra damage. They've now had my car going on 8 weeks. Completely unacceptable. I feel like they've been holding my car hostage for forever. There has to be better service elsewhere. read more

If I could give less Stars I would I had an accident to the back of my car on August 1st the estimator his name is Charles H when he estimated the damage on my car he only estimated part of the accident not the whole rear of my car so the insurance company would not pay for to have everything fixed and I wasn't aware of this until I came in to pick up the car and my trunk and bumper were damaged as well as my right side trim which they didn't fix they kept my car for 2 months and didn't fix everything that was damaged I had no choice but to cancel the claim because it wasn't worth just fixing my trim because they wouldn't fix anything else when my engine is damaged and Allstate Insurance I was working with wouldn't cover it because of what Charles said I will never work with this company and I suggest none of you do either because now I have to sell my car because i can't afford to fix it read more

This is a review for the insurance adjusters who work at Phil's Body Shop. Phil's partners with several insurance companies (Liberty Mutual, GEICO, etc) to handle their claims repairs. I wanted to bring my car to another shop closer to my apartment, and with higher reviews. Despite me having an appointment for 1 pm, the adjuster in charge of my claim Tracy had "just left for lunch". Her colleague took down the information they needed, and told me that Tracy would email me the estimate. How long? "Oh, it's really simple. Should be within the hour when she gets back." This was Friday. It was Tuesday when I decided to call Phil's, having not received the estimate yet. Tracy, was "out to lunch" AGAIN, but the person on the phone assured me he would make sure she emailed me. I ended up getting the estimate from the Liberty Mutual rep who called me to discuss the estimate, which I STILL haven't gotten from Tracy yet. I don't know who Tracy is, but she sure takes her sweet time at lunch! read more

When I first got my estimate, it was my 3rd of the day. I was pretty much set on taking it to Fluery's across the street, but the man who did my estimate was so friendly and told me that if I chose to get my work done there, he would replace my tail light at cost as well as do a tiny bit of easy work on a dent in the back for free as well. When I went to pick up my car, I realized that the tail light had not been replaced and the extra dent work had not been done, but hell, I hadn't paid for those so I wasn't going to make a huge fuss, but it was the reason I chose to take my business here in the first place so I was a little disappointed. From what I can tell visually, the work they did was good, but I'm no expert. The reason I'm sticking with a 3 star rating, in addition to the issues above, they didn't call me when my car was ready. I finally called them the day it was supposed to be done and they were already closed, so I had to wait until they opened the next day to make sure it was ready before I planned to take off of work and Taxi over there to pick it up. read more

Gerber Collision had my car for 2 months for what they referred to repeatedly as a "6-day job". When my car first arrived, I was surprised to receive hardly any communication from the shop - I didn't hear from them until I called them 4 days after my vehicle arrived. They gave me an estimate number over the phone but didn't provide anything in writing for me until a few weeks later when I specifically requested it. They also began work on my car without my explicit consent, which is legally questionable. At some point in this process, ownership of the shop changed from Fix Auto to Gerber Collision without my knowledge, and I will never know exactly what happened in that ownership change but my insurance company mentioned that some of the records from the beginning of the repair were lost or mismanaged. I also found out after the fact from my insurance company that Gerber had made some errors in the repair and had to start over, or the parts were bent - no one ever told me this or explained to me exactly what happened - which also contributed to the extension. About 5 weeks into the repair, after spotty communication, I was given a repair completion date. On that date, no one called, I heard nothing (keep in mind I still had not received anything in writing or signed anything) - so I reached out, and they mentioned that they found more damage to the car and weren't sure what to do. 2 weeks and hardly any communication later, they sent me a written estimate that was 3 times the original estimate, constituting a total of my vehicle. Throughout this entire process I was racking up rental fees - my insurance covered some of it and Gerber covered the remainder, which I appreciated given the situation. However, they were extremely difficult to communicate with regarding the rental situation throughout the process and seemed to be avoiding my calls. Not sure if this was all due to the ownership change, but this was such an awful situation that I was prepared to take legal action. That said, I appreciated the final gesture with the rental car and also appreciated that while the staff were virtually impossible to reach at crucial moments, they were kind in every interaction. Long story short - Ballard has plenty of auto shops, and you'd probably do well to go elsewhere. read more

My car had a hit and run accident about 2 weeks ago. My insurance guy sent me a check I called Phil's and they got me in 2 days later. All the parts and everything already ordered, rental car ready. They fixed my front end beautifully and matched my paint perfectly. The only thing I would say that could use some help with is the lady at the front is kind of meanish. Not sure if she just knows what she is doing and expects you to too, but its sort of off putting. Chris the man in charge of my repair called me with updates and even came out to make sure all was alright with my repair. This was unexpected but appreciated! These are very honest people. We have a lot of mishaps, so they know us. Last time I was gently side swiped by a Metro bus. After adjuster left, they found another issue and it has been taken care of. That was my Jeep We also have a nice Mercedes sports car that the lower front bumper keeps hitting the curb. So, took our car here that we had for just a few months - a moving truck backed into it. Staff was rude, but it was close so we gave it a shot. All appeared fine until the rain started and our car flooded - seriously flooded with standing water on the floor of the car. It appears they did not install the seal properly and caused leaking. We took the car to the dealership for repair - will NEVER trust this place again. We had a fairly minor repair. A headlight replacement and to buff out some scratches. Lonnie was so friendly and helpful when I just "stopped by" to see if they would/could do the repair. He found the part for a reasonable price and gave a very good estimate. I dropped the car off early on a Friday, even before they opened. Lonnie was already there and said to pick it up at noon. My daughter took her car in on the day of her appointment. She was surprised to hear they had no idea she was coming in, but assured her it wouldn't be a problem and her car would be ready in one week. One week turned in to two, two weeks turned in to three. many phone calls later, all placed by us, we finally picked up the car. The frustrating part was the attitude we received when we inquired what the hold up was. Aaron actually told me they dont even start the cars until they have been there for a week. If this is the case why even make an appointment and why tell the customer it will take a week to finish? work done was fine, but because of their lack of customer service and rude attitude we will take our business else where. read more

There was minor damage to the bumper paint on the front of my car. It was under the deductible for my insurance and up to me to cover the cost. The shop took a look at it and made sure there were no unseen breaks that may be an issue in the future, then polished and buffed the surface to that new car glow again! I wasn't expecting it to be such an easy fix, and especially after another shop quoted $650... They said good to go, no cost for me, and please remember us for your future business. Avoid this Auto Body shop with the quickness. A few years ago i had work done here (Farmers insurance had them on their Recommended List of certified repair shops) and when I got my car back, my $150 Oakleys were gone from the glovebox. Needless to say, I was pissed. The owner appologized but couldn't (or wouldn't) tell me which of his workers worked on my vehicle. I recently got rear ended, and again, Farmers told me that Phil's was one of the best shops in town (as well as being the closest to me), and that they guaranteed their work. I took that to heart and decided to give them another shot. BIG MISTAKE. The rear bumper had to be replaced, and when i picked up my car and took it home, i noticed that the bumper was not aligned on either side of the vehicle. it was a good 1/2 inch off on each side (not flush with the other panels). I called the body shop and asked if they could fix this, the person i spoke to assured me they would take care of this, but would have to call me back to schedule the repair. A week passed and no return phone call. after two more calls to them (went straight to voicemail), i called farmers insurance and complained. So much for guaranteeing your work. I ended up going to a different body shop. They replaced my bumper and took the old bumper back to Phil's. I will never step foot in that body shop again. I lost hours off work taking care of this blunder. AVOID. read more

Phil's Auto Shop was recommended by AAA and then I saw good yelp reviews. I dropped off my car around 8pm and left my keys in the drop box and left a voicemessage. I called the next day and was introduced to Dan. I explained to him I need to hear from the other party regarding the repair on my car and he was so understanding. Being in a car accident sucks. They are so many calls you have to make. I called Dan at least 6 times, every time he treated me like I was family. I don't drive a fancy car but he made me feel like I was always worthy of his time and attention. He was the first person to let me know my car was financially taken care of by the other party. I would recommend this shop to anyone. Oh and about my car, it was ready quicker than I expected! read more

There is little-to-no parking... but they did a great repair, and were able to fix my stupid corroding dent for the lowest price possible, $770 down from $1500! I had to do a little pleading, though. I can't recommend this business enough. They are honest and do excellent work. We were initially referred by our apartment managers for some body work after my mom's car got hit. After that, her car had some electrical problems (something that's been on going) and we hadn't had air conditioning for a few years. We took the car back and they fixed everything as well as fixing the hood of the car so that it doesn't need to be propped up anymore (something we didn't even ask for.) They did it all free of charge. I will also counter some of the people who have made negative comments about the woman at the desk. I liked her. I found this place in yelp and decided to go there becuase it had great reviews. My boyfriend's old 1985 Blazer was leaking coolant all over, because it needed a water pump. He called them after calling 3 places to see if they could replace the pump the same same day because he was flying out of state next day. It was around 2:00 pm when he called and they told him they close at 5:30pm but if he took the car as soon as possible they will change the pump. We drove there and dropped the car. They were super nice. We came back at 5:30pm and picked the car up no problems and they charged him $382 which is not bad at all considering they took the job in a rush. I went to School with Lonnie. In 2012 I took my car to him for a paint job after I got the body work done, because he told me he could get me a $2000 paint job for $500 as he did with someone else. He even sent me a picture of the other car. So knowing him as long as I have, I thought..."What could possibly go wrong?" Well, I'll tell you. I dropped the car off and told him "I want it sanded and painted". I assumed he would SAND it and paint it. I also assumed he would mask off my wheels and trim. He did NONE OF THOSE THINGS!? I went to pick my car up, the bill was around $775 for a $299 single coat Maaco special?! Now, we discussed that I wanted to stay in a budget, but that was based off what he told me he would do. if I knew I was going to get less or equal what I was paying for... I would have paid more for better quality. When I came to get the car, the poor quality took my breath away. I didn't know what to say. I argued with him for a few moments, but it was clear he pulled a fast one over on me and he wasn't going to honor his word. This experience has destroyed our relationship. I have not contacted him since. If ANYONE wants to see the poor work Phil's Body Shop will do to your car, I'll be glad to show you. I plan on getting a REAL paint job soon though. Life lesson learned: DO NOT do business with Phil's Body Shop Unless you have a detailed quote in writing, make sure it has a price and details of what you expect. This is the only place I take my car for repairs and body work. The work is high quality (no wonder why my insurance company recommends them) and I've never been disappointed in any way. My family always works with Lonnie. He is very knowledgable and kind. Just the other day my car was broken into and I showed up to the shop in the morning without calling beforehand or having an appointment and Lonnie thoroughly checked out the car for me and made sure there was no damage from the break in. Worst first experience I've ever had with a body shop! I took my chevy cruz in for a small front end damage. Was told it would be 2-3 weeks to get my car back, took 6 1/2 weeks, all they needed to do was replace a bumper hood and radiator. Week 3: After calling them numerous timess, they called back saying my hood and bumper was in and needed to be painted then it would ready. Week 4: got a call saying in there estimate THEY DIDN'T INCLUDE THE PRICE OF A NEW RADIATOR BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS DAMAGE IN A FRONT END COLLISION WITH A DEER! Week 5: called them about the car, said they didn't get any where with my car because they couldn't get my radiator out..... Week 6: was told new radiator was in, all they needed to do was paint the hood and bumper and everything would be good, wait a second isn't that what they said they were doing waaaay back in week 3!? Why wasn't this painted a while back when they were waiting for a the radiator they never ordered. FINALLY week 6 1/2: got my car back, my black and NEW FOREST GREEN CAR. they painted my hood a dark forest green and the fender? Why the fender I have no clue because only my hood and bumper were broken on my exterior, the head lights weren't even broken from my crash. So how or why they felt the need to paint my cars fender that color I have no clue. There are gaps and the fit of everything is horrible. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. read more

Phil's turned an error into a 5 star rating. Every business makes mistakes. The difference between the best and the worst is how they react to those mistakes. I took my Tacoma pick-up in to have my bumper replaced through my car insurance. Since it was going into the shop anyway, I asked them to fix some body damage that I would be paying for out of pocket. When I came back to get my truck, I noticed they had forgotten to fix the body damage I was going to pay for. Realizing that it would be a big inconvenience to leave my truck longer, he offerred to fix the body damage FOR FREE when I could bring it back. Four weeks later, I brought it back and not only was the work done perfectly, they even fixed a couple of other minor dings I hadn't asked them to fix, again at no charge! WOW, an auto body shop that goes above and beyond to make it right! Phil's now has a new lifetime customer! read more

I am always weary of body shops (and pretty much all car-related businesses... ALWAYS shady people), but this was a whole new level of craziness. Liberty Mutual makes me an appointment at Phil's. I called the day before my appointment (because I know how forgetful people can be), and they have no clue who I am. I tell them my name (because they have the appointment under someone else's name...), I give them my phone number (the first time), and they keep the appointment. Wonderful! I get there the next afternoon to drop my car off, they have no clue who I am. Finally they figure it out and I give them MY name (again they switched to the other name they had written down), and my phone number (a second time). They tell me "It will be done in 2 days." I call after 1 day (obviously I'm too hopeful), and they have no clue who I am, and I give them my name and phone number (a third time), and they say they'll call me with an estimate of when it will be done. The next day (after no call from them), it's close to closing (and when I was originally supposed to pick up my car), so I call and they tell me "sorry, there's another part we need to order! It won't be done for a while longer." .....so.... were you ever going to CALL me and TELL me it wouldn't be done? Or did you just expect me to SHOW UP and have my car not be done?!?! The lack of communication, the absolutely slow service, and just an overall shady business vibe.......... The 1 star is for the cute dog that hangs out near the body shop. First off, I'm a stickler for good customer service. I mean, it's a serious pet peeve of mine. Phil's Body Shop not only met my expectations they exceeded them by leaps and bounds! A while back my car was rear ended in a car accident. A coworker recommended I take my car to Phil's. I had the car repaired however when I got it back one of the repairs hadn't been done. Turns out the insurance company didn't include it in their estimate. In the meantime, I had also another minor accident where I scraped my back bumper. So, I thought, I'll get both done at the same time. When I took it in Lonnie, my contact at Phil's, said it would be $300 for the scrape and nothing for the other repair. Sounds good right? Well it gets better. I get a rental car and take my car in for a 2 day repair. Turns out they needed more time and kept my car for a total of 7 days. When I took the rental car back to Enterprise they told me Phil's had taken care of the bill. Woohoo! But, it gets EVEN better. They take me up to get my car and Lonnie says, you're good to go. That's right, no charge! I couldn't believe it. Long story short, you can trust Phil's to do a great job AND, you can trust Lonnie to give you a great deal. read more

Phil's Killed my Car! But they did so with empathy and good will. The repair bill from my fender-bender was $5,800 for a $5,000 car. They gave me plenty of time to investigate 2nd opinions, referred me to a junk yard that paid fairly for the carcass and didn't charge for two weeks of storage. But most valuable was the patience and counsel Ken the Technician exhibited as I processed through the potential to probable to certain demise of my beloved vehicle. read more

Phil's Body Shop is a Safeco/Liberty Mutual referred body shop. I took my car in there approximately 3 weeks ago to repair scratches on the back hatch and passenger side. In response to every call inquiring as to when the car will be finished, we get the "it'll be ready by Thursday or Friday" runaround. Does this shop need six weeks -- or should I offer six months -- to complete a repair? My advice. If you don't want to be without your car for a month, go elsewhere. read more

In 2010 I had a painful and bad experience at Phil's for a $5,000 repair. Bottom line - I had a very bad experience and do not recommend Phil's - not worth the hassle to have them redo their work multiple times AND poor work at that. THE GOOD: The paint blend was very good. THE BAD: The day after I picked the car up I noticed so many fit and quality errors that I had to take the car back right away for its 1st "redo". (I'm scared to think how many people would have trusted the work to be completely properly.) 1.) The two doors that were repaired both did not close right and were stopping before the door was fully closed. I had to lift up on the door to get them to close properly - they both needed to be realigned. 2.) Three body panels had irregular gaps and heights and did not line up. 3.) The new mirror had loose trim and a gap at the mating surface. 4.) Exterior trim piece on the windshield was broken and barely hanging on. 5.) Exterior trim piece on a repaired door was misaligned and not seated properly. 6.) Door pillar fixture was very loose and the screws were backed out/not tightened. 7.) Scuffs on the front and rear bumpers from the accident were not buffed out. 8.) A tire was replaced, but when I asked for a receipt Phil's said, "no receipt was available". (This tire later failed with less than 15,000 miles and I had no receipt for a warranty replacement.) The 2nd "redo" was when I discovered that one of the repaired doors was not locking. I have a keyless-entry remote and trusted that all the doors were locking. After having the car for several weeks I was shocked to find out that the lock on the door that was repaired was not locking - my car was unlocked for this entire time. Phil's initially told me that it could be the computer and that could cost thousands to fix. When I showed my receipt that the door was removed and repaired, Phil's said they found that the door lock motor connection was disconnected. Although they reconnected it, I later found that they removed and lost a trim piece that covered the door control trim piece. This is the third time the car was in and I was very frustrated with having to take time off work multiple days when the car should have been fixed right from the start. THE UGLY: 1. While Phil's had the car on three separate occasions, the car was still not repaired correctly. I had to get the district supervisor of my insurance company involved. All of the redo work was done without receipts, so I had no proof of what Phil's did and didn't do - only the condition of the car. The insurance supervisor inspected the car and noted that: 1. New paint had fibers embedded within the paint - "dirty paint room during painting" 2. Several body panels were out of alignment 3. Trunk that was removed during repair did not close properly. 4. Headlight that was removed during repair was out of aim/alignment This is AFTER Phil's had the car on three separate instances. The insurance company agreed to pay a different shop to fix the repairs. read more
