I remember passing by (but never going into) the original location back in the day whenever my parents would take us shopping at Macys in what is now Queens Place. Anyway, sorry for the nostalgia but that definitely hits you when you enter the place. The ambiance exudes nostalgia in the best possible way. Like it's been untouched by time. The latest trends in decor or complex menu items don't matter when the food is good, the price is fair and the service attentive. My wife and I stopped in for breakfast due to our car being worked on nearby. A pretty stressful morning seemed to totally dissipate. This place was wonderful. All the staples of a good diner were there: fantastic scrambled eggs, perfectly cooked bacon, and your coffee cup never runs dry. I ordered just a regular waffle and it tasted exactly how you expect, nothing more nothing less. My wife ordered a fancy omelet which we enjoyed. What really sealed everything was the service. The waitstaff were efficient yet attentive. My family and I went on Christmas Day and were surprised how many people were there, but how quickly we were seated. We ordered off of their breakfast menu, and the food came out timely. While it wasn't the most AMAZING breakfast in the world, it did taste good and was nostalgic. I ended up going back to Georgia Diner a few days later late at night, and the food was decent as well. I grew up in Elmhurst going to the Georgia which was always a reliable good food / good service / good priced establishment. However, after the pandemic and current inflationary policies things have changed drastically... The food prices have soared unbelievably - especially for breakfast. They no longer offer breakfast specials and the menu prices are grossly overpriced... Almost $17 for eggs and corned beef hash!!!!! $3.25 for cup of coffee!!!! Prices are up like 70-100% !!! And they no longer open 24 hours and close way too early. Diners used to be the reliable go to place for off hours workers and for late night diners .. no more... I understand that things change over time but for this change to the worse to be this fast and drastic is truly stunning. read more

This was my first visit to Georgia Diner. It was a Saturday at 9:30am after running the Queens 10K. I took a seat at the counter. The place was not packed although there was a whole lot of employee traffic back and forth to the kitchen. I ordered The Cheddar Plus under the grilled chicken breast sandwich category. First, I received 3 pickles and coleslaw. I enjoyed my humongous open faced sandwich and steak fries while listening to Bryan Adams 80's tunes. Good service but the food was okay . The chicken parmigiana with spaghetti could use some more seasoning 2.5/5 and the apple pie could use a lil more sugar and was super cold. I've came here a few years ago but I wanted to revisit! I went with two others during breakfast time. It was busy, but not too busy just right for the breakfast brunch hours. We ordered the calamari, which was perfect nice pieces of squid & fried perfectly! the sauce was warmed which I appreciate. I then got the Spanish omelette with a side of pancakes- can't go wrong with that! I really did enjoy my meal & my table. Okay so this diner was originally on queens blvd near the queens center mall. it moved to still be on queens blvd but further past the mall. It replaced the Nevada diner. The food is great and service is quick. Plenty of seating and even space to rent the back room for a private party. Bathrooms are clean and there is ample parking available. Typical NYC Diner full of families on a Sunday Morning. We had to wait a bit to be seated. Yogurt with fruit and granola and an Irish Breakfast. The yogurt was thick, Greek Style with Fruits, Granola, Honey. Good. The Irish Breakfast came as expected. So large that we could not finish it. English Muffin and Coffee topped the meal. . Well, this past Saturday, Dec. 9, with my wife and two members of her family who had surprised her for her birthday, we decided to try the Georgia Diner at its new location, and under new mgt. let me say, that it is now a very fine eating facility. I used to love going to this place to get breakfast/lunch. It has since moved locations and it may be rebranding as Nevada Diner. The location has gotten larger, but it seems the service and food has gotten more expensive and worse. I ordered a Texas burger. The burger was not cooked medium as I asked, it was well done. The BBQ sauce was a super sweet flavor rather than savory like it normally is. Honesty, it tasted like I imagine dish soap would taste. I got the deluxe, so I was expecting a decent amount of fries, only to receive 7 fries. We were not given a water refill until we were about to leave. I'm sad to say I probably won't come back. It's a shame that in moving, a nice diner, with decent food, and good service has gone downhill after moving to a larger location. read more

But finally gave it a shot, went here around 11pm for a late grub, We ordered the corned beef hash , the taste was pretty spot on, the pancakes were fluffy and tasty, ( a bit inconsistent though, as some were more cooked than others) the butter was whipped which I really appreciated . Server was awesome, he made sure we got everything that we needed and was quick on refilling our drinks. However, on another note, we were sitting by the kitchen and as we were about to finish our meals, a very funky smell of fish started coming out from the kitchen, not really sure what that was but I just hope that who ever ordered it will be smart enough to smell it and then return it.. if not!! Being a neighborhood stable, I really really want to love Georgia Dinner: The couple of times we had visited when we were kids in the old location, I remember not really caring for the food. Still, it was sad to see the original location gone. I decided to try the new location in the place of the Pops Diner. The interior is lovely, what they did to the inside is so nice and old school. I really wish they'd just change their recipes because what I got I didn't care for for the exact same reason. Not a lot of flavor, a very "sit in your stomach in an uncomfortable way" kind of feeling. I really hate to say it because I do want this diner to last. The food is good and typical diner fare. The staff is reasonably attentive. The one warning I would offer is to NOT pay by credit card if leaving a cash gratuity for your server. Why? Because I left a cash 25% of my bill for my server paid my bill to a cashier who later added another 22% gratuity to my credit card! She asked if I wanted to add my tip to my charge and I informed her I had chosen to leave a cash tip on the table so no need for her to do anything after the fact. read more

Went to have lunch in the afternoon with my husband and my mother, and the food was fine. We were wrapping up our remaining food, and my husband asked for a refill of his coke. He finished his coke, and he then looked sick to his stomach. He showed me his glass, and there was a dead tiny cockroach in with the remaining ice. We informed the server, who then replied "do you want another coke?" The manager was requested and came right over and apologized, and we ended up not paying for the meal, but we left sick to our stomachs with just the thought. Unsure if the roach was in the ice maker, or from the soda itself, or was it stuck on the glass, but it was there and it looked like it's been dead a while. I come here to eat often so I felt like this review is over due. Some of the things I like here are the eggs Benedict because the hollandaise sauce is really delicious and creamy. The chocolate chip pancakes are fluffy with just the right amount chocolate chips. The turkey burger was okay to me ... One thing that stood out was the sauce for the mozzarella sticks ... I LOVED it !!! That sauce was so good !!!!! I want to go back and ask if the sauce is the same sauce they would use for pasta LOL ! Other than that the service was great and the waiter was attentive. I do want to come back to try more things, but I was really surprised at the good quality of the food. Order diner staples, don't get adventurous, and you should leave happy. Bacon, eggs, pancakes- all good bets. I've also had their chicken wings which were shockingly good. Crispy batter, juicy tender meat, I'd order this any day (though the last time I went they only seemed to have Buffalo wings on the menu- hoping I just overlooked the un-sauced option). I also think they have some of the best diner mozzarella sticks anywhere, and their marinara is seriously garlicky. Makes me tempted to order pasta. The chicken soup was ok, if not on the greasy side. I once ordered a shrimp and ravioli pasta dish that came with baked cheese over the whole thing that hadn't been mentioned on the menu. Wasn't such a fan of that dish, but that's what you get for being adventurous! Service is slow, water glasses too small, bathrooms sometimes seriously neglected, and since Georgia Diner took over this location from the former Nevada diner, the funky retro decor is gone. Georgia Diner is self-proclaimed best-of-Queens-diner in Elmhurst, Queens. I found the service excellent, the dishes are enormous and the food is decent. My family and I went for dinner on MDW. We ordered corn beef hash, baked chicken, salmon salad, nova scotia lox with cream cheese and a omelet. We were so hungry when we arrived. It was perfect that the waiter gave us a bread basket with warmed bread. The kids devoured the bread. One dipped the breadsticks into the individually wrapped butters. There was also a stand on the table with 3 tins of pickled/cooked diner snacks (sliced beets, chickpea and green bean salad, and coleslaw). My hubby and I liked the sour crunchy coleslaw. I loved my smoked Nova Scotia lox with cream cheese. The bagels were toasted but soggy but the Nova Scotia lox was beautiful. I got 4 long 3" x 8-10" of pink savory firm lox ($15.5). So good. K's dish of salmon salad had plenty of sliced beefsteak tomatoes, coleslaw, potato salad, freshly sliced cucumbers and a pile of canned salmon (that could have been tuna). That was ok. The other family members were satiated with their salty corn beef hash and soft non crispy home fries and hand-sized omelet. The meal was great for what it was: simple filling breakfast-like food. The servers were so friendly and nice. They cleared our plates quickly, gave us napkins and more napkins. When we left, the hostess gave the kids lollipops. So sweet.
