I've been a regular customer of the Georgia Diner for many, many years. I was a customer even before they moved to the new location across Queens Boulevard. I have always enjoyed the food, staff and relaxed atmosphere. The food is delicious and their steaks and Italian dishes are better than some high-end restaurants I've been to. The wait staff is friendly, professional and always try to make the customer happy and comfortable. The Manager, William, couldn't be nicer and goes out of his way to ensure you are satisfied with your visit and your meal. Unfortunately, it seems as if the diner has new owners. No liquor license for the last 8 months. I miss having a drink with my meal and my friends and family do too when they visit the diner. They've also replaced the Challah bread with little tasteless rolls in the bread basket. Went for a group event with 20 people. A special set menu with several options for brunch/lunch was able to please everyone. Service was excellent considering the size of the group with many demands. Tried the Georgia Diner for the first time in a very long time. I must say, I wasn't thrilled. The service was pretty decent. Ordering was timely and west. It took a bit for drinks to come our way. I stopped by for lunch with my brother, and we both found the food and service to be solid as far as traditional diners go. I had the tuna melt, which came open-faced on a pita with a side of fries and cole slaw. The melt and the cole slaw were great. I ordered steak and eggs and specifically asked for my steak medium rare. It came out well done. The food is always up to par. We have been going to Georgia for 3 decades. The waiters are great (except one grouchy guy). I am giving only 2 stars because of one fact. They recently changed their menu and that's fine. However they also increased their prices substantially. I ordered a side of turkey sausage and they charged me NINE DOLLARS for 3 little turkey sausages. My friend had a cup of tea. Price was FOUR DOLLARS. We usually pay about 40 bucks for breakfast for 2 but with their new menu prices we paid 65 dollars for breakfast. Interestingly enough it was a Saturday around their busiest brunch time and we usually have to wait a few minutes to be seated. The place was half empty. The parking lot was half empty. Seems like other people feel the same way. Try Petes Grill on Queens Blvd. Prices are one third less and food and service are great. Bye Bye Georgia we had a nice run. Also I will add that the waiters are going to suffer because after that outrageous overcharge we left half the tip we usually leave and we felt bad about that because we know the waitress for years and she deserved more. Came here in a rainy Saturday morning for breakfast. It looked like a pretty busy diner but we were seated immediately. Since it was cold, I wanted some soup. The Matzah ball soup I got was a small but it was smaller than I normally receive at diners. It was okay, needed a bit more favor. Eggs and bacon were good. Basic breakfast ya know. Can't complain. I'm not sure why this diner has such low reviews or rather mediocre. I've been here a bunch of times in the past, but not within this past year. So, I wanted to come back to see what's changed. The menu has definitely changed as now there's cash or credit card pricing on it. Otherwise, this place hasn't really changed that much. There's still the dessert area where people wait around at too. But we didn't have to wait as there was seating. Got seated right away and was given water and a menu off the bat, too. The service was great, and there are servers everywhere. Foodwise. I ordered the Angel Hair Pomodoro. They gave a ton of pasta and a large portion of the baked chicken, too. Georgia Diner is a major dining establishment growing up in Elmhurst. It was the place to go after shopping at the mall and you wanted to cool your jets to break for a cup of tea or coffee. As you walk in host greets you and brings you to booth. Staff always makes sure your coffee is filled to the rim. Waitress is fast with getting orders in and your meal comes out pretty quick. This diner closed down but I need to write a review about them. Was a regular at this diner. I love their starters and appetizers! If you order a main dish or some entree that involves a soup or salad, Georgia Diner will give you warmed bread along with chickpea salad, coleslaw, and red beets. The chickpea salad and warmed bread was my go to. I love it so much that I always made my ex boyfriend drive here to order an entree to get that chickpea salad. They have assorted bread such as cheese bread and white bread along with saltine crackers as their appetizers. I would always order either a medium well cheeseburger deluxe or a spaghetti/angel hair pasta primavera with grilled chicken. They sure give a lot of pasta. Pasta was very good and the seasoning was just right. Sometimes the grilled chicken was kind of burnt and bitter but the pasta was still good and made up the whole dish. I just didn't like the dried up sun tomatoes which were hard to chew. Ugh. I had to always take them out. The zucchini was very nice along with the squash! Usually I take it to go because I could barely finish the pasta. Burger was very good and I like how they make it. It's always not burnt and not that raw. It was just right so you can taste the juice of the beef. So good! The diner always sat me and my ex in a personal booth so then we don't need to be surrounded by people which I didn't really like if we were too close to people. Thank god for the booths so then I had more personal space and privacy to talk. It was a large place so there many sections of booths to choose from. What's good about this place is that it has an enormous parking lot for free. So many parking spots to choose from so you don't need to resort to street parking. We passed by this diner all the time, and this time we decided to try it, especially when they offer a parking lot. It's a considerable lot too. This diner reminds us of the restaurant we used to go to with Mommy closed permanently 2-3 years ago. I definitely will take Mommy here to try it. The diner is enormous, just like other diners out in the suburbs. They keep it very clean here. The interior decor is beautiful, and every corner is spotless. They have two sections, booth and regular table sections. We ordered French toast, two eggs Sunnyside up with rye toast, and the other two eggs on Romanian steak. We shared everything. I only tried a piece of the steak. Everything was delicious! I mean, the French toast and the potato home fries had a great taste to them. Eggs are eggs, but the way every diner prepares home fries is different, and this diner did it so well. They also listened well to instructions when I said, well done in the bottom for Sunnyside up eggs. I'm giving this place two thumbs up! Diners are not 100 percent dead! The service is terrific too. Now overall I thought the customer service was beyond terrible! Which was extremely disappointing to me missing this place and being so excited to return after twenty years or so. This is a great diner and they need more positive reviews. My friend's mother passed away in June. I called several venues, but it was wedding season. Nothing was available. I remembered that Georgia diner has a back room that could accommodate 40 people or more. I called two days before the funeral. They were so friendly and even helped me plan a pre-fix meal. (entre, dessert and soda included). Everything was arranged by phone. After the funeral, we were stuck in traffic for almost 2 hours. I kept calling the Georgia diner. They held the tables for us. Everyone was so hungry upon arrival. Two waiters were assigned to us. The food was delicious. They never rushed us to leave the room. I was impressed. So, when my aunt passed away in November, I didn't hesitate to call the diner and reserve the back room with a prefix meal. We all went to the Georgia diner after the burial. It was so relaxing and my family couldn't stop hugging and thanking me for planning such a great repast. Each time, I tipped the waiter staff generously. I thank them with all of my heart.
