The register and end of counter

Its been decades since we've been to this diner. We used to come here a lot for breakfast but I think it was called by another name. I ordered the mushroom burger deluxe and my daughter ordered the avocado burger deluxe. She said that her burger was good as were the fries. My hamburger was cooked perfectly and was juicy. The fries were perfectly as were the onion rings. We did have to ask for coleslaw and pickle that was supposed to come with the deluxe burger platters. This is your basic NYC (in queens) diner food, no frills just ordinary burgers and fries but that's what my daughter wanted..."diner food". The only issue was that they only accept cash but that's not displayed anywhere in the diner, not even near the register. My daughter wanted to use her debit or credit card but the waitress said "cash only". She's lucky that I had cash on me this time, lol I always start my reviews with 4 stars then upgrade or downgrade according to service and food. I gave this diner 3 stars because they didn't have a sign stating they only accepted cash only

    Way too watery.

Great breakfast at this true neighborhood diner. Seems family owned. Good service and I'd go back. Reminded me of Flushing's better days.

I visited today with a friend, expecting to enjoy a pleasant breakfast, but unfortunately our…read moreexperience was disappointing for several reasons. I dine here frequently, so I am familiar with the typical portion sizes. The meal I received was noticeably smaller than what is normally served. To the server's credit, she acknowledged the issue and offered to have it corrected without hesitation. The more concerning issue involved my friend, who politely requested plastic utensils. She was told they were only available for takeout orders. Due to a medical condition, she does not use reusable utensils in restaurants. We have never encountered this issue at any other restaurant. As a result, we were unable to comfortably dine in. When I spoke with the manager, I explained that refusing a reasonable accommodation was inappropriate. His response was, "You never told me that," referring to my friend's medical condition. To be clear, customers should not be expected to disclose or justify their private medical information in order to receive a simple accommodation. We ultimately packed up our food and left because no effort was made to resolve the situation. Additionally, I had placed a separate takeout order before all of this occurred, but it was never entered into the system. When the check arrived, I was confused as to why the order was missing. To make matters worse, I was informed that I could not order an item from the children's menu as a takeout meal for my daughter. This policy was surprising, as I have never experienced such a restriction at any other restaurant. Overall, this was a very disappointing visit. While I appreciate that the server was willing to correct my meal, the lack of reasonable accommodation, poor communication, and multiple service issues left us with a negative experience. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and reevaluates both their policies and their approach to customer service.

Breakfast for one…read more Bacon and eggs. Bacon was fine. Eggs were over easy to perfection. The food was piping hot. Wait staff was attentive. I never saw the bottom of my coffee mug. I ordered the hash brown well done. I have never had a more perfectly cooked potato in my life. Wonderful crust on the outside with soft and tender potato on the inside. This place has a lot of one star reviews. Not sure why. I come here several times a year. It's a diner. Not a hipster place or a high end establishment. Everything is more expensive since Covid. If you want pre covid prices you're going to need a flux capacitor and a Delorean. This is one of the last "New York" diners and it's great.

The service didn't help either. The waitstaff was unfriendly and seemed completely checked out. Tables were dirty, as well as condiments, definitely a rundown diner. And somehow the bill came to  $75 before tip for a burger, panini, wrap, and an ice cream float. Completely overpriced for the quality we got. Definitely not a place I'd return to or recommend.

The "literal" embodiment of IYKYK, this classic old school neighborhood institution, the type of…read morewhich are becoming increasingly rare to the point of near extinction, is certainly on my shortlist of the best bars in the city, let alone the borough. The gorgeous, ancient building, Fillmores for close to 50 years now but home to a bar for many years prior to that, is perennially packed with a cross section of local regulars representing many eras of the neighborhoods varied history and populations, from old school working class joes in Union Jackets and hardhats to more recent immigrants from every corner of the world befitting it's location smack in the center of the worlds borough. They're all most definitely having a great time, soaking up the fantastic atmosphere and character and being served by seasoned pros with a level of old school care and camaraderie, and focus on loyalty to the regulars that is also sadly rapidly fading away (how many other places in this town still know the meaning of the words "buy back?") Where the place really sets itself apart from all the other local watering holes however charming they might be on their own right however, is the food. Its lives up to the original designation of a tavern as a place that places a priority on the cuisine, and indeed the offerings rise far far above the bar-food norm. This is the type of spot that not only serves one of the great, deeply satisfying under-the radar burgers, non nonsense but deeply meaty uniquely presented on a long hero-type roll, but also one of the best, and cheapest NY Strips in town and a killer prime rib special. Also has some of the most reliably crispy wings, even if the propriety house sauce is just a tad sweet for my tastes, and a rotating list of delicious house made soups (particularly a marvelous lobster bisque) that can be paired with said wings or most other options as part of the wonderful lunch specials. I've heard many other patrons praise the grilled chicken wrap but have never had the chance to give it a try as of yet. I'll have many more chances because I plan on continuing to visit the place often for years to come, and here's to hoping that this place remains a constant in the ever changing borough as it's miraculously been able to all these many many years.

It wasn't flashy or exciting, but it had the welcoming vibe of a restaurant that was meant for locals, and to serve the surrounding area. While I wish that they had a slightly larger selection of beers, they did have one (1) good IPA, and my food was pretty good as well. My chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks were solid, but my pub pretzel was amazing, and made to perfection! The staff, to include the bartender and waiters, were all very nice, welcoming, and attentive, and I loved chatting with the other patrons as well. I'd definitely recommend Filmore's to anybody passing through the neighborhood, and I'll assuredly be back in the future!
