I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life with George's Towing / Valeo, entirely due to the front desk staff. Before even coming in, I called ahead to confirm the process after winning a vehicle at auction. I was told all I needed was the release PIN that had been emailed to me. I drove 1.5 hours each way to their location, provided the PIN, and was then told the vehicle could not be released. When I attempted to calmly re-verify the PIN to ensure it was correct, the front desk attendant became defensive, insisted she had written it down correctly, and dismissed my attempt to clarify. It later became clear the PIN had been entered incorrectly on their end. Because of this error, I was forced to leave without the vehicle and return on a second trip another day, turning what should have been a single 3-hour round trip into two separate trips totaling over 6 hours of driving. On top of the wasted time: I had to pay someone to accompany me on both days to help retrieve the vehicle I paid bridge tolls multiple times I lost an entire additional day The total added cost was substantial--nearly half the price of the vehicle itself To make matters worse, when I later went to the DMV, I discovered that required paperwork had not been provided. All documents were stapled together when I received them, and I handed them directly to the DMV--yet I was blamed and told, "I gave that to you," which was simply not true. Instead of accountability, I was met with denial and deflection. This was not a misunderstanding. This was poor communication, lack of attention to detail, no accountability, and zero concern for the customer's time or money. The defensiveness and refusal to acknowledge clear mistakes made the experience even worse. If you value your time, money, and sanity, I strongly recommend avoiding George's Towing unless you are prepared for delays, repeat trips, and unnecessary expenses caused by front desk errors. This process should have been simple. It became expensive, exhausting, and entirely preventable. read more

I contacted George's Towing Co. in Vallejo because I needed help lifting an overturned trailer. Before they came out, I gave them the details and explained that the trailer was empty. I was told they could handle the job with one large tow truck for about $380 per hour. I understood there could be a minimum charge, which is normal in towing, so that was not the issue. The problem started once they arrived. The first person who came out did not seem experienced enough to handle the recovery alone and ended up calling in another tow truck, and then another one after that. None of that was clearly explained to me in advance. I never authorized those additional tow trucks, and I was never told on the phone that they would add extra labor charges either. What made the situation much worse was the billing. The first amount they gave me was about $4,800, which was completely different from what I had originally been told. I had to argue with them and push back hard because I did not agree with those charges at all. After insisting and complaining, they lowered the bill to around $3,000, which is what I ended up paying. Even then, I still believe it was far too much, especially because the extra tow trucks were not authorized and the added labor cost was never disclosed during the original phone call. The whole experience felt very unfair and very stressful. On top of that, there was pressure to pay, along with threats that if I did not pay they could tow the vehicle to their yard and charge even more for towing and storage. In a situation like that, a customer is already under stress and just trying to solve the problem, so that felt wrong. I ended up paying around $3,000, but only after having to practically beg and demand that they reduce the original bill. I do not agree with how this was handled. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that anyone using this towing company in Vallejo get every possible charge, including extra trucks, labor fees, and minimum hours, clearly explained and in writing before authorizing the job. read more

If I could give George's Towing 10 stars I would! Today while walking my dog I came upon an elderly homeless woman living in her car that would not start. She was desperate and sobbing and asked if I could jump start her car. I didn't have cables so I called a local tow company. I called 3 of them, each promised a truck and then flaked out. Then I found George's. They had a truck there in 30 min. The driver was the nicest guy you could hope to meet. He got her car running in 5 minutes. George's Towing flatbed matching the one in the photo takes 90° turn left onto eastbound Florida from southbound Broadway in Vallejo, defying oncoming traffic who had to slam on their brakes and were barely able to stop in time to avoid a multi-car collision with the flatbed. I looked at the logo, George's towing with brought yellow outline. On the back of the cab, George's towing in cursive. I called the number and was told by the guy who answered that they don't have any yellow trucks and it must've been somebody else. Bullshit, I know what I saw. It was a hair-raising experience, and somebody needs to deal with the guy who answered the phone at 5:25 today, when I called. After 35 years on business, I KNOW you know better. read more

I called to try to see what happened after thoroughly double checking and I told the manager specifically where I left my headphones and they placed me on hold then told me no one saw any headphones. The last location on my headphones were at the tow yard, then the location stopped showing. My headphones were fully charged. How does that make sense? I hired them because I used them in the past and they were doing well when they had a guy named francisco. But they hired a new guy named Jose who came to help me change a tire very slowly, they made me pay $100 deposit up front and he took his time, his breath of alcohol. It was tequila or Whiskey on his breath. He was very rude and made me upset and when he was taking his time he didn't offer the solution or change my tire so he agreed to let me use his tire iron and I began to jack up my own car and use his tire iron halfway through changing my tire he took back his tool and left me hanging with my tire on the jack. And they would not refund the $100. Not only were they rude but they claimed that he wasn't drinking on the job but I clearly smelled alcohol on his breath and he was acting like a drunk. This lady refused to help me get my car out. She said that I needed registration to show ownership which is in the vehicle as it should be, I told her I can show you in the vehicle. She then said that won't work I need to go to the DMV and mocked me lol. She refused to give me her name as well as the manager and or owners name and turned her mic off and walked away. There business hours state 24 hours Monday to Sunday yet you can only get your car from 8-4 during the week which is false information online. He came back and told me that it wasn't in there and that I would have to go to DMV and get a copy and bring it back. Needed to take my vehicle from my house to a friend's house about 2 miles away to get it worked on. I called George:s Towing of Vallejo and was quoted a great price to have it towed. A tow truck arrived at my house, but it was the wrong type tow truck. I told the initial tow driver that I needed a flatbed tow truck to tow it. The driver let his dispatch know of the mistake and a flatbed was called. Flatbed arrived driven by Randy. Randy was able to load up my truck despite having a bent driver's side spindle. Randy's only concern would be the length the flatbed would be once he lowers the FJ down onto the ground and onto a driveway. The street was narrow and I had to ask a neighbor to move his car so that Randy could have the length to lower his flatbed then off load my vehicle. Randy was able to off load my FJ with little to know problem. I was grateful and along with the tow charge I gave a tip for his service and nothing went wrong. After AAA gave me a 150 mins estimated wait I CALLED dispatch because the wait time came and went. I was informed they were still looking for a driver blah-blah-blah--with NO PROVIDED UPDATES?!? Did I mention I ALREADY WAITED the 150 minutes provided time? That's when I looked in good ol' Yelp! George's dispatcher had a very calming and reassuring demeanor. I placed a call to George's towing yesterday evening. I spoke with the owner and advised him that I needed a a car towed from my property. I asked him what was the preference of payment. He stated credit card or cash. This morning Eric came to tow the car. He was both professional and courteous. When it came time for payment, I presented my credit card. He explained there was a 3% charge. I was dismayed as the owner never shared this information. If he had, I most certainly would have made the cash available. I'm giving these guys one star at least because I'm proud of them for hiring strictly from the gay and trans community. All staff including the owner have come out and shown their gay pride and that's very brave and noble of them. Other than that though, the service is horrible, they steal from the vehicles, damage the cars, tack on made up costs, argue with customers and are in general some of the most mentally handicapped , slack jawed, rude, disorganized, hostile, thieving, trans people I've ever met. Usually trans people are very kind but not this group. They kept hitting on me even though I'm straight. It was disgusting. Aaron saved the day! For real! AAA left me waiting for 2.5 hours and proceeded to tell me it would be another 90 minutes before anyone could come tow my car. This is after I'd worked a graveyard shift and was left stranded in the parking lot of my place of employment. My level of irritation was off the charts. Once I realized AAA had no real intention of getting me a ride, I did a quick Google search and called George's. They answered immediately, gave me a price and said someone would be there within 30 to 45 min. They kept me updated with text messages. 10 minutes later the driver rolled up. Aaron was my driver. He was cool, laidback and easy going. We actually had a pretty good conversation and some laughs on the ride from Vallejo to Richmond. George, if you're reading this, give Aaron a raise!
