    No sag on the crust!
    Pavnit K.

George's pizza came on the scene a few years ago with their unique take on deep dish, using a sourdough crust. Acquiring a pie used to be almost as hard as getting face value tickets on Ticketmaster because you had to sign up for a slot. However, now that they have been in business for a couple years, they have an easy-to-use online ordering system, with usually an hour wait for pick up and 1.5 hrs for delivery. Like other reviews have mentioned, their deep dish is so good. They use fresh ingredients, and have creative combinations of toppings, but the ability to make your own. However, this year, enter their new sensation: tavern style pizza. This seems to be a new venture, but they are staying true to their sourdough crust. I have to say, this may be one of the best tavern style pizzas I have had in the city. It utilized the fresh ingredients they are known for, BUT the star was the perfectly crispy crust. Even the middle didn't sag. We reheated to eat leftovers and it still held its integrity. This is a definite must if ordering from George's!

This pizza is always great, I typically live 25-30 minute drive each way and it still travels well and tastes delicious. Friendly, family run space that's cozy inside. I've never eaten at the restaurant but would love to eventually because of how committed to great service the family always are at pickup. It also tastes just as good cold the next day while watching Bloodsport on your couch

Wonderful experience definitely need to make this a stop on the list for Chicago deep dish pizza. Felt like I was sitting at my aunts house. Pizza was perfect did not need anything extra from the tomato sauce to the crust. 10/10 MUST RECOMMEND AND IM FROM NYC

Have been wanting to try George's as it's always mentioned on a best of list. Got a deep dish cheese and sausage to go. Ordering online was easy and it was a 45 minute wait. Picking up the pizza was easy ample parking around the restaurant. The sauce on the pizza is amazing and has a good flavor to it. The sausage is also really good that they utilize. The crust was decent but more doughy than I prefer.

Spinach and artichoke dip, the bread is amazing with a flakey/crispy outside and super fluffy inside

Highly suggest dining in if possible as the pizza is at its peak hot out of the oven. Yes, this isn't a "standard deep dish" this is more of an artisan Pizza Hutt pan pizza in the best ways... crunchy bottom to the crust with a light fluffy layer above that topped off with a lightly caramelized cheese crust

Side view of the s & m pizza. That's ricotta on the top.

We have friends that swear this is the best deep dish in the city. We finally tried it on hubbys birthday weekend. Would definitely go back. Limited seating but opted for takeout and Tivo. We got two pizzas, salad, and a slice of cheesecake. Tavern style cracker thin pizza was a make your own with mushrooms, half pepperoni, and half sausage. I can't believe I am saying this but it wasn't my cup of tea as it was too thin compared to others I have had. For our deep dish- we went with the spaghetti and meatballs! Yea. You Read that right. Pasta on a deep dish! It was really really good and the reason we will be back. They have a great website and it was easy to order and customize.

Chicago pizza is so complicated. One place says tavern style, one place says deep dish. And in the west loop, they're attempting to pass Roman style pizza. I say we can have them all! George's is one of the few new styles I've had in a while. Their pizza is on a sourdough focaccia style crust. I was nervous about it at first but once I had it, I was hooked. The pizza was perfectly cooked, I chose a great combination of toppings, and I was very impressed by this random find. I ordered for pick up but the restaurant seemed very friendly and clean. The staff was more than happy to help out and even gave me some tips on carrying it as it was SUPER hot as well as how to reheat properly. I'm so happy that I found this place and will be back very soon!

    Today's pizza (10/2025) -- below expectations.

First off, I absolutely love George's. I've ordered there at least a dozen times and have had a great experience each time... except this one. I ordered my usual pie -- Sausage, Pep, Garlic, and Giard. However, the toppings this time were different than every other time I've been. In the past, George used to use whole cloves of garlic on the pie. It was glorious. This time there was none that I could see. I brought it back and was told it was chopped this time and that id be able to taste it when I ate it. Well, my partner and I are it, and we might as well have not gotten garlic. The taste was hardly perceivable. I certainly won't order garlic again if this is how it will be from now on. Similarly, the giard was extremely small. Maybe that's just the brand that's being used now, but it seriously detracts from the nice crunchy texture you'd typically have from giard on the pizza. Lastly, the dough was very off, almost soggy. The crust was far softer than it has ever been, yet the cheese in the middle was burnt. Notably, George did not cook this pie. Maybe it's training issues with new staff, but my partner and I were shocked at how different the dough was. Ultimately, this experience actually deserves a 3/5. I'm going to give it a 4/5 because I love George's and have had many good experiences there. But the quality tonight was worse than it has ever been in my dozen + times going there and I hope that this isn't how will be from now on. Attached is a photo of today's pizza, and my same exact pizza ordered from here last year. The difference is quite obvious. Today's isn't up to the standard I hold George's too. Edit: the owner, George, reached out and assured me that he is assessing quality control. Due to the fact he reached out and my many positive previous experiences, I'm going to make this a 5/5. Will definitely revisit soon and hope to have a great experience.

This is NOT a deep dish pizza. It doesn't have a "dish" and it isn't deep. What it is is a round, puffy crust of pizza dough, with some sauce and toppings spread very thinly on the top. It actually has less cheese, sauce, and toppings than any regular thin crust pizza, and certainly not the double amount you would get if there were actually a dish in the pizza dough to hold it. The experience is like chewing an enormous amount of pizza dough with nearly no sauce. Very disappointing. I really wanted to like this pizza. After all, the place is friendly and smells great when you go in. But this is ridiculous

The pizza was absolutely delicious and well worth the 45-minute wait because it was made fresh. The setup isn't traditional; you order on a tablet, so there's no waitress interaction. It's a small place, but definitely worth visiting because the pizza is outstanding!

Stacked unapologetically high, this burger is everything you want and more: juicy, perfectly seared patties layered with melty cheese, crispy bacon, and those golden, crunchy fried onions that take it completely over the top. Every bite is rich, savory, and just messy enough to remind you you're eating something seriously good. The toasted bun somehow holds it all together (barely), soaking up every bit of flavor without getting lost in the chaos. And then... the shoestring fries. Thin, crispy, golden perfection--light but addictive, with that ideal crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one (or ten). They're the kind of fries you keep reaching for without even realizing it, especially dipped in that creamy, tangy sauce on the side. And let's not forget the drinks--just as good as the food. Refreshing, perfectly balanced, and the kind you sip slow while taking it all in (but somehow they disappear way too fast). It's not just a burger--it's one of Chicago's most iconic bites for a reason. Bold, indulgent, and absolutely worth every single napkin you'll need after. The ambiance inside is GORGEOUS!

Loved the 90s female R&B playlist they had going! Little Bad Wolf has been on my list FOR YEARS to try the burger! My husband got the burger with fried onions and I got some Bao because those also looked delicious and were a popular menu item. Honestly the 3 stars are only that high because of the service. Our server was friendly and attentive + the food came out hot and quick. Unfortunately, the food was pretty disappointing. The burger was swimming in a puddle of grease and just picking it up made your hands greasy + was dripping grease. The fries that came with it were floppy, soggy, and sad...but at least warm? I personally wouldn't order this again. The Bao were better, but small for the price and honestly were just okay? It was nice they gave you sauces you could add, but I found the Bao's to already have enough sauce so I didn't need them. Overall I left feeling confused and disappointed. I don't feel the need to come back here - Little Bad Will was a one and done experience for me.

I got the Chicken Avocado Ranch for my selection (Antibiotic-free blackened chicken, avocado, pickled onions, apples, tortilla chips, white rice, chopped romaine, seed oil-free green goddess ranch) and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. As I was home on the Friday after the Xmas Day celebration, hungry, didn't want to cook/heat anything up, I decided to order this salad for dinner through Grubhub. While I was placing the order, I decided to try the Fish Taco for the next day's lunch (Antibiotic-free miso glazed salmon, avocado, shredded cabbage, cilantro, tortilla chips, herbed quinoa, spring mix). This bowl comes with a sweetgreen hot sauce & lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette, but I opted to switch that out for the Green Goddess Ranch and the Miso Sesame Ginger. I loved the fact that I would add or not include certain items. For example, I love goat cheese, so I add that to both bowls and it was delish. Delivery was pretty smooth, with the driver coming up to our floor to drop everything off. Both bowls looked visually pleasing and the overall taste was pretty good. The flavors were nice and there was a freshness to both bowls, even the Fish Taco one on the next day. FYI the Fish Taco bowl can only be ordered online, not ordered in the store...not sure why, but since I will not be going to the store, I am good with that. You also have the option to order a slice of bread with each bowl and that was nice. Next time I will see if I can get a second slice. Total cost for the two bowls, with some add-ons and service fee and tip was about $58. I will say it will be cheaper to go to the store and pick it up yourself, but I will pay to have stuff delivered to me for peace of mind. They do have an app for placing orders, but I will stick with Grubhub because that is free for me through Amazon. I realize sweetgreen has a mission statement about eating healthy, lowering their carbon footprint, a commitment to animal welfare, but before I knew any of that, I still would say the bowls were pretty good. Not that I crave salads or bowls that often, but if I do, this will be the first place I order from.

We are lucky to have a wide range of cuisine options near our place in Andersonville, and now we can add Turkish-Georgian fusion to our regular rotation. We had a wonderful meal there--I took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu and ordered cioppino. Half the time I order seafood in a restaurant, I end up with rubbery shrimp and tasteless fish. Not at Oda. Their seafood stew was filled with great stuff. My wife had tokat chicken, which she also enjoyed. The humus, Khachapuri, salad and dessert flight were also excellent. It would be fun to go there with a group. It's an ideal place for a shared-plate night out with friends. But there is one thing--like most restaurants in the city, the tables are close together, which is totally fine. We're not looking for Applebee's-type table separation when we go out. Even when you get a table a few inches between two others, it takes about 30 seconds to isolate your own conversation and enjoy your meal, unless you're next to a table where the diners are essentially yelling at each other. I'm not talking about a couple fighting about money or a bunch of 30-somethings getting rowdy on Moscow mules and umami burgers during a night out without their kids. I'm talking about two people yelling--in a friendly way--about the most mundane subject of all: their coworkers. We noticed as soon as we sat down but by the time we considered asking to be moved, the three tables nearby were filled. No big deal. It was kind of entertaining, in an eardrum-splitting way. Their conversation was shockingly loud. And not just the statements, like "SHE THINKS SHE'S IN LINE FOR HIS JOB," but also the brief conversational acknowledgements, like "YEAH! FOR SURE!" It was like sitting next to dueling car alarms. If you're familiar with Pee-Wee's Playhouse, picture the obnoxious salesman who loudly blah-blah-blahs his way to a quickly slammed door, courtesy of Mr. Herman, but two of them whose faces are two feet apart. And we had no door to slam. All that being said, this isn't a knock on the restaurant at all. And since Oda is so close and so good, we'll be back. And hopefully by then, Josh from accounting figures out how to use Smartsheet--"RIGHT? IT'S RIDICULOUS!"--so if we do end up next to the Decibel Duo, we'll have a new workplace dilemma to listen to.

So much of the menu appealed to me, and I don't go out for Mediterranean often, so it was super difficult to choose a meal (family style would have been ideal but with Mediterranean we couldn't have more diverse preferences). The mini eggplant roulades were just DEVINE. So unique and so fresh. The soup was really good - since it wasn't on the menu I had no description when ordering - it ended up having some curry spice which isn't my favorite (specifically cumin) but still enjoyed it. Our server was really friendly, originally from Turkey and was receptive to my parents' excitement over our upcoming trip to Istanbul. We weren't rushed on a weekend evening. The restaurant was really nice and pleasant atmosphere. A little more upscale than I was expecting. I would absolutely love to go back here and try more of the menu. We stopped by for Sunday brunch and it was packed- I would recommend making a reservation during prime time. The staff were very friendly and did not rush our group. For appetizers, we split the cheddar artichoke dip and deviled eggs. Both were flavorful and satisfying. For the main event, I opted for the avocado toast with egg whites alongside Irish grits, which were both super filling and delicious! The grits especially were rich, loaded with cheese, and perfect on a cold day. This is a must order. I loved the buttery bread used for the avocado toast and the generous amount of toppings. I felt that the prices were pretty reasonable given the large portions as well. My only wishlist item is that there were more options for coffee, which was only available as a standard drip. I will absolutely be back soon and look forward to trying more of the delicious looking menu!
