Had a craving for a pizza puff and George's is the closets place to me. Ive gone in the past and their food is decent. Looked over their specials while I waited for my food and saw that on Mondays their chicken sandwich for $1.99. I asked the person who took my order if it was breast or processed. She seem puzzled when I asked, so I did again if it was pure breast or grounded chicken as other places use. She stated its fried and that is all she knows. She seems irritated at my question. Sorry, but not my fault you are not familiar with your menu. Got my pizza puff quickly which was to go. I dipped my hand in the bag to grab a fry and the pizza puff wasn't hot as they normally are. Once i got to the middle I figured why it was done quickly. It was not cooked all that way! I did called to complain and was only given an apology. Old-fashioned Chicago eatery with amazing prices. They even have pizza puffs, which I hadn't seen for 25 years. My kid had 2 really delicious corn dogs. The girl who took my order was really sweet. In driving with a friend of mine down Archer just past Midway airport a friend of mine stated he was quite sure there was a hot dog joint just a little further down. Many a street was passed until on our left we saw H Dog Fast Food. We pulled into the parking lot, got out of the car and headed in. When you walk through the doors there's one big area to order with the kitchen behind it, a small hall on the side and on the opposite side the dining area. The dining area seems like it was addition to this building as it just doesn't match the rest of the inside. We went in and placed our order for a hot dog each and split some fries. A few minutes later our food was ready and it was time to dig in. The hot dog came on a regular non-poppy seed bun. On the positive side the bun was soft with no signs of dryness. The mustard and relish application was fine. There was a thick tomato slice on the hot dog and a nicely sliced, not too sour pickle on it as well. There were also quite a few sport peppers on it. The sausage used on this hot dog was a skinless hot dog, and I suspect a Red Hot Chicago brand one. The fries were thin fries very similar to McDonalds fries, they were a bit less salty, shorter, thinner and crispier but had a nearly identical taste. Quite a few hot dog places use this particular style of french fry which usually goes quite well with hot dogs as long as it isn't being cooked in some sort of strange grease. I'm happy to report that these fries were quite suitable and a nice compliment. My overall impression of H Dog Fast Food is that it's an above average place to obtain a Chicago style hot dog. While nothing exceptional both the dogs and fries were made well and were reasonably priced. While not worth going out of your way to visit. It's well worth stopping here to give it a try. I'm going to give it four stars. read more

H Dog has a huge menu to pick from. They started making the food as I order, so the wait time wasn't bad at all. If you want to watch them cooking your food you can see right into the kitchen since it's an open area right behind the register. The dining room is bigger then it looks from the outside. They have daily specials that are all good prices, otherwise they are kind of high priced on a few choices. Very friendly everyone that I talked to. read more

I got tired of going to this place mainly because all the cashier's have a nasty attitude. You are better off going to Jewel and buying a frozen been burrito. Those cashier's make you feel like you are bothering them. Me and my family have been ordering here for years and have never had any problems over the phone and with delivery, everything has always came with our orders and food has tasted good. Recently me and my boyfriend came here for lunch and when we arrive we were greeted from someone in the back. when we were ready to order we noticed the cashier was acting weird. after we gave her our order she read us back a completely different order and when I corrected her it took her about 10 minutes to change it because she kept falling asleep while typing things in. My mentality has always been if you've tried one hot dog joint, you've tried them all. After trying this place, I'm more than happy to admit I was wrong. Right off the bat, I want to give this place props for delivering. I've never known a hot dog place to offer that, and honestly, that was the sole reason we decided to order from here. Our order consisted of 2 polish, a cheeseburger, fries, and an order of mozzarella sticks. I had a polish and it was literally the best I've ever had. I don't know if it's the way they cook them, if they've discovered the perfect amount of onion, relish, mustard, and pickle, or what. It was just plain good. Same goes for the sticks. I love me some good cheese sticks and these do the trick. Last but not least, this place has some pretty good customer service. Imagine my surprise when I bit into one of the mozzarella sticks and found it completely void of any mozzarella. What?! However, it was only one and I wasn't going to go nuts and make a huge deal out of it. It happens. My friend wanted to call and just let them know, in case it was a bad batch, etc. They apologized and offered us a free order of mozzarella sticks. He told me and my jaw dropped. He didn't yell or complain or throw around that horrible line everyone loves to use ("Well I won't be coming here anymore"). Mistakes happen. Point is, I was surprised and super grateful. So, H. With my family ordered 6 hot dogs 2 polish soda, the cashier has a nasty attitude, like we came in laughing and came across a bitter person that didn't greet us when we walked in, didn't smile not once and it actually felt like it was a bother that we came in..the hotdogs were good fries tasted fishy, maybe they fried it in the fish fryer..i really hate coming to places like these because of nasty people that think their life is hard or what ever , big ups for the non smiling female cashier. Im working on the southside and had a taste for a pizza puff. I ended up ordering the pizza puff and broasted chicken and it was goooooodddd. The broasted chicken was very juicy. Do not be fooled because of looks! At first I was initially hesitant because it is an older establishment, but the food is great especially inexpensive. Well, as I read the past post, yes the old owner was a king generous man. Customers came first. Now that I just ate there10 mins ago. They suck. Last time I was here was 2 yrs ago before my deployment. Awesome place old owner wished me well and gave my children free ice cream. Mom always stopped by for her monthly hot dogs. Now she told me this place is bad. I did not believe it. I had a Italian Beef with easy peppers, a chili tamale cup and a tamale on the side with fries. Beef- I ordered easy dip with easy hit peppers.. What I got was dried out bread, heavy peppers, easy meat and no dip. Tamale was doughy, it was water logged and no flavor. Did not eat it. Chili and tamale was horrible chili tasted like sweet tomato sauce and canned chili. And the tamale was the same. Raised the prices on everything. Fries were cold I live 5 mins away by car. It's very sad to have to address this comment about my once favorite, "go-to" restaurant vis Grubhub. I would order from this place several times a week because I do not keep any food at home nor do I own any cooking utensils. However, after they ignored my order for more than an hour and made nonchalant excuses about a possible delivery, I had to discontinue my patronage to this establishment. In fact, because of their actions and the fact that they were once so loyal, I will no longer trust Grubhub for my dining experience. If they could not guarantee the delivery, then they should state this on their website before a person wastes their time ordering food which will NEVER arrive. If you're in the area and craving some greasy goodness than this place will hit the spot. I've tried the gyro, cheese fries, and chilli. The gyro is a pretty good size for the price, but it was a little bit too salty for me. The cheese fries were awesome of course they were they're fries with cheese! The chilli was just ok for me. And the fries were hot, but they were the thinnest fries I've had in a while. I know that some people like thin fries and others like thicker fries. I loved these guys. They have my favorite food: Tom-Tom Tamales When I'm able to order from them, the food is delicious and delivery is quick. As of late, they seen to be continually cutting their hours, and as of this posting they claim to only be open TWO HOURS and Fifty Minutes per day 6:00 PM - 8:50 PM I don't drive, and I work 2nd shift so I need delivery. Although they've been on grubHub for ~ 2 months I keep seeing the same message, time and time again: "H. Dog isn't taking orders right now." and "Right Now" is 8pm on Sunday after I just got home from work. I am deeply saddened. I hope they can turn it around. read more
