    I had The Roc. Excellent.

This is one of those, "IYKYK" kinds of places. Absolutely stellar Italian Deli, tucked away in an easy to reach corner of Polk County. Perfect menu, ridiculously large and well made deli sandwiches and a store full of Italian food staples and bakery items! Couple of minor downsides to be aware of - no indoor seating and somewhat limited outdoor / shaded area. Also, I had The Roc sandwich, wasn't cut all through and the crappy plastic knife broke while trying to slice. Great problem to have, the sandwiches are pretty large but pretty basic to give you a good cut. In fact, in reviewing my pics the cutting procedure took so much focus after unwrapping my sandwich, I quit taking pics! Haha All minor stuff, this is a great spot for lunch... highly recommend!

Good food. Nice portions. I also like the variety of food options. Looking forward to trying other items. Friendly staff.

ONE LAST NUGGET…read more Always double-check your bag from Wendy's, in case there's a surprise nuggie at the bottom. It didn't take long after starting my new job to find the nearest distributor of chocolate Frosties. I hit up this location in Garfield Ridge for lunch every other week and the experiences have been generally pleasant, even though once they forgot a straw and on a separate visit they gave me no sauce :( You're greeted with a quartet of self-order kiosks when you walk in, but you can still place an order with a human being. I like the counter area they have by the windows facing Archer Ave. No ketchup pumps, which makes me think their condiments are behind the counter under lock & key. I recently tried the ghost pepper ranch chicken sandwich ($11 for a combo) and to their credit, it was pretty damn hot. Halfway through eating, I started seeing little horizontal lines which made me wonder if I was hallucinating or just needed new contacts. I made ample use of their Coke freestyle machine, regardless. Saucy nuggs are great, you can get them standalone or as part of a 10pc combo ($10)--I recommend the spicy honey bbq, garlic parm, and buffalo. The $5 Biggie Bag is still the best deal in town, a Jr bacon cheese with fries, 4pc nuggets and drink for a crazy low price. * TL;DR * This is a solid Wendy's with a clean dining room and quick drive-thru. I've tried to avoid going out to lunch more than once a week, and when I do, I usually only drop $5.54 (the exact cost of a Biggie Bag + tax). You can find some nice deals online, like a free 10pc nuggets when you sign up for Wendy's rewards, or $2 off a premium combo. Tip: trying to turn left onto Archer is tricky, and though you could get lucky with the flow of cars, you're much better off exiting onto Laramie and using the traffic signal.

I had dozens back then. Today? Just two + fries. Service was disengaged. Typical for Chi-town. The "youth" ya'know, lol. The fries aren't nearly as good as I remember, but the burger slaps (still). My caloric intake discipline wouldn't allow me to get a thick vanilla milkshake even though I wanted one - badly, lol. Maybe will get one tomorrow, lol. Too expensive for them little jokers though. I can get a full size burger in DC for the price of a mini slider here. Was worth the experience nevertheless since the burger was delicious. Spent $8.68. Decent deal because I was full. Sure wish they would put a White Castle in Waldorf maybe.

MIDDLING EFFORT The…read moreWhite Castle across the street from Midway Airport is totally mediocre. Sitting at the intersection of W 63rd St and Cicero Ave, this fast food chain is directly in the landing path of Southwest Airlines. This is great news for plane watchers but bad news for anyone trying to have a normal conversation. First off, why is this drive thru window so high up? I'm not in a friggin Hummer! Sitting in a typical sedan, I've had to reach up & lean out to grab the food they're handing me with a lot more effort than normal. I'm fairly tall so shorter folks must have a real tough time. I usually get the #1 combo ($9.29) with jalapeno cheese that has a decent kick to it. Sometimes I'll get a 6pc chicken rings but last visit they were sketch AF....I think they put the unused chicken parts in a blender, hit 'pulverize', and form the pieces into circles before breading and frying. And was that a beak I saw? The guy at the drive-thru has been friendly both visits but noise from jets landing nearby makes it tough to place an order. If this happens, you can either 1) shout over the sound of the incoming jumbo jets, or 2) wait a few seconds until the plane passes by. There's two types of people in the world, and this determines which kind you are: the screamy kind or the patient kind. * TL;DR * This WC isn't great, but then again, are any of them? (no, not really) I like White Castle's crinkle cut fries and they have fun trivia on the sides of the boxes the sliders come in. However, I don't care much for this location due to the noise pollution and difficulty getting into the parking lot, which is only accessible via westbound 63rd St or northbound Cicero Ave. Could be worse.

Everything we ordered came out fresh, well-seasoned, and they offer big portions. Definitely a strong point and the highlight of the visit. However, this is the third time service was less than impressive. There were long and noticeable gaps between check ins. It wasn't overly busy for a mid afternoon and they didn't seem short staffed. Also worth noting for those planning to stop by: gratuity is automatically included for parties of four or more. While that's not uncommon nowadays, it stood out more than it probably should have due to the slow service. Overall, the food was great, but the pace of service really put a damper on the experience. We ended up being there for close to two hours, largely due to the slow service. Toward the end of the meal, we also weren't offered a dessert menu, which made the experience feel a bit incomplete since again we were celebrating a birthday. It's unfortunate, because we came in wanting to support a local neighborhood spot. That said, the service challenges once again made it hard to fully enjoy the visit, and I'm not sure I'll be returning.
