Got my burger fix! It's been years! Same place I went to after stepping off the plane from Germany in the military years ago. Bypassed granny's cooking (initially) for some. I had dozens back then. Today? Just two + fries. Service was disengaged. Typical for Chi-town. The "youth" ya'know, lol. The fries aren't nearly as good as I remember, but the burger slaps (still). My caloric intake discipline wouldn't allow me to get a thick vanilla milkshake even though I wanted one - badly, lol. Maybe will get one tomorrow, lol. Too expensive for them little jokers though. I can get a full size burger in DC for the price of a mini slider here. Was worth the experience nevertheless since the burger was delicious. Spent $8.68. Decent deal because I was full. MIDDLING EFFORT The White Castle across the street from Midway Airport is totally mediocre. Sitting at the intersection of W 63rd St and Cicero Ave, this fast food chain is directly in the landing path of Southwest Airlines. This is great news for plane watchers but bad news for anyone trying to have a normal conversation. First off, why is this drive thru window so high up? I'm not in a friggin Hummer! Sitting in a typical sedan, I've had to reach up & lean out to grab the food they're handing me with a lot more effort than normal. I'm fairly tall so shorter folks must have a real tough time. I usually get the #1 combo ($9.29) with jalapeno cheese that has a decent kick to it. Sometimes I'll get a 6pc chicken rings but last visit they were sketch AF....I think they put the unused chicken parts in a blender, hit 'pulverize', and form the pieces into circles before breading and frying. And was that a beak I saw? The guy at the drive-thru has been friendly both visits but noise from jets landing nearby makes it tough to place an order. If this happens, you can either 1) shout over the sound of the incoming jumbo jets, or 2) wait a few seconds until the plane passes by. There's two types of people in the world, and this determines which kind you are: the screamy kind or the patient kind. * TL;DR * This WC isn't great, but then again, are any of them? (no, not really) I like White Castle's crinkle cut fries and they have fun trivia on the sides of the boxes the sliders come in. However, I don't care much for this location due to the noise pollution and difficulty getting into the parking lot, which is only accessible via westbound 63rd St or northbound Cicero Ave. Could be worse. read more

Key Note: Check your order before you drive off. They forgot my extra fries. I came for my online order and arrived 10 minutes early and there was no line in drive thru. I was welcomed but then had to hold for 5 minutes until I was finally able to informed them on my online order. The food is always good here hence why we order from this location. We order drive thru bc it's quick but this one is either quick or opposite. Ambience outside of drive thru has considerable heaters (see photos) while you wait during winter time. My boyfriend and I came to this White Castle today on 11/17/25. This location is the closest to midway airport. We ordered food and the staff were rude and not very interactive. Order was messed up. Forgot marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks. Drive thru door was slammed in our faces when we were sitting in the car waiting for the food. Did not go inside location. Mozzarella sticks were nice and hot. Staff's attitude and customer service needs huge improvement. We will never patronize this location again. I almost asked to speak to a manager. A rain storm diverted me to White Castle today. That's a lie: I planned to stop here on the way to my sister's. This is the White Castle of my youth. Been coming here since the 1970s. It's fun to sit in the car and eat while jets from Midway pass over. Chicagoans don't need a review of Whiteys so this is for our visitors. 1. Don't freak out when your friend pulls up to the drive thru and orders 10 cheeseburgers. They're small. 2. The fries are the crinkly kind which offers more edge to the oil, maximizing crunch. The BEST. 3. Onion rings were better in the 70s. You'd bite it and a 1000 degree onion would slide out and adhere to your chin. 4. The rain stopped and so did this review. Eat here! Growing up in LA I never had White Castle but once I had my very first one last July, I knew I'd be coming back for more. We came to this location after we flew into Midway from NY. The location is clean and service was over all friendly. We ordered the #7 (10 sliders, 2 fries and 2 drinks). There was a slight charge for getting cheese on the sliders instead of just the original but not bad. We got our food shortly after we placed the order. It is open 24hrs which is great. They also offer other options like fish, chicken and even veggie patties for those not interested in regular hamburgers. Finally, after almost 34 years, I was able to sit down and enjoy White Castle burgers. One of my fond memories while living in Chicago being a little girl was White Castle burgers. Eating the frozen ones from the grocery stores gives these sliders no justice. I arrived on Wednesday and decided that as soon as we landed to Chicago and got the the car rental, the first stop would be White Castle. We arrived in 45 minutes times, as we entered there were very few people there, I was happy. It took us a minute to decide what we wanted on the menu. We ended up ordering the 10 pack which included (10 sliders, 2 small fries, and two small drinks) we upgraded to medium for $2 more. I also added 5pc mozzarella stick, a fish slider to try and cheese on five of the sliders. The sliders are exactly as I remembered, soft bun, the minced grilled onions, pickles. The crinkle cut fries to my personal opinion were nothing extraordinary. The fish slider I literally loved and it did not need any tartar sauce it was very tasty with cheese. My kids love mozzarella sticks and they loved it. Our meal was cooked to order and it took a little longer, I really do not mind a fresh cooked meal. We really enjoyed our meals and it was pretty much the place to eat since my kids really enjoyed it. I had a veggie burger which they were advertising, I tried their doughnuts which were 3 for 99 cents (powder, plain, and chocolate). My son ordered all three flavors of shakes he loved it. Before departing Chicago we ordered some breakfast on go because of an early flight. my sons ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches (toast, egg, bacon, and cheese) tater tots, and orange juice , I stuck to the coffee and doughnuts. Overall White Castle was very good to my taste buds. I loved, the sliders, fries, mozzarella sticks , shakes, and doughnuts. I wished that they would have had a little more variety like Krystal's. One word: WHY???!!! I wanted to leave just what I had written above. I opted to write more only because Yelp is looking for more details. I had anxiously looked forward to experiencing White Castle. Being from the West Coast, I always heard great things about White Castle. Well, we were catching the plane for home in the Chicago area (near the Midway Airport), and I'll be... There's a White Castle nearby! We gotta go we thought! The place looked horrible on the outside, and the inside, but unfortunately that didn't detour us. We really wanted to try this hyped up place. Ugh!!! Now some places grill their burgers, some flame broil them. I didn't know this until after receiving our food and beginning to eat, but at White Castle, they STEAM their burgers. Yes, that's right. STEAM!!! They grill onions on their cook-tops, and they put these little nasty super-thin square burger patties, that have holes in them, on top of the grilled onion. Now, they even write about this, with pride on promotional materials (like its a good thing), to share what makes their burgers so unique. These holes in the burger patties allows the steam generated from the cooking onions to cook their burgers. And the holes help them to cook faster, and more evenly. Now our great mistake was that we ordered a variety flavored, multi-pack of these little stinkin oniony sliders. Well, all I can say is you fooled me once. There won't be a second. There just no excuse for this... STEAMED BURGERS!!!! Why does ANYONE do that? How are they still in business? ...and who in the heck is responsible for perpetuating the rumor that this stuff is good? I've been eating at White Castle locations for over 30 years. And this location was my very first White Castle experience in 1982. Many things have changed since then except for the airplanes landing right outside this location. When this location was rebuilt from the ground up a number of years ago I can say White Castle failed. This building has one small counter (last one had three) and there is very little seating area to handle the volume that uses this location. Recent visits have had very long lines just to order, a 10+ minute wait for my order after paying, and ignorant and unresponsive employees. The tables are always dirty and the rest rooms are disgusting. The exterior is usually maintained by an outside landscaping firm and often looks fairly sharp. Watching the airplanes landing at the airport never gets old for me and that's about the only reason I come back. read more
