We had been looking for a local farm-to-table experience when we found Campo di Bella. Our first…read morevisit was a Saturday evening which consisted of a five course meal. Everything about the evening was exceptional. The first course was bruschetta, followed by a refreshing fresh salad with lemon dressing. The main course was flank steak, cooked perfectly. This was followed by a cheese board with delectable cheese samples from local dairies. For dessert, they had an absolutely amazing home made vanilla ice cream. It was rich, creamy, and very tasty. We enjoyed it so much, that we immediately reserved a second dinner which had cider braised pork shoulder as the entree. Again, the meal was exceptional. It started with prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe. I've never had prosciutto sliced so thinly, it was tender and flavorful. This was followed by a butternut squash soup that was thick and rich. I didn't know butternut squash could be so flavorful. I cleaned my bowl so thoroughly that the host jokingly asked if they forgot to serve me. The pork was next. Served with honey crisp apples. It was tender and perfectly juicy. Again, a cheese board was served before dessert. All very tasty local cheeses. For dessert, a French apple tart. I could have eaten a whole tray, it was so good. I've now been there over 20 times. Every time has been exceptional. They offer a variety of wines, ciders, and local beer to go with your meal. They also make their own vermouth which is sweet, with a hint of clove. It's so good, in fact, that we like it on the rocks. Not mixed. The host, Mary Ann, is wonderful. She takes time before each course to provide background on the home grown or locally sourced ingredients. She also gives a history of the farm and her family and, if the season permits, offers a tour of their farm. Marc (Mary Ann's Husband) is the chef. He is a culinary wizard. As I mentioned, I've been back over 20 times, which equates to almost 80 different dishes. All of them amazing! My only criticism (it's a minor one) is that the room is small and cozy and it can get a bit loud inside. It depends on the crowd, but it can be a bit hard to carry a conversation. In summary: exceptional food and exceptional people. I could not recommend it more. Update (12/13/24): We've been coming back to Campo di Bella for the last 5 years. At least 60 times or more and we've never been disappointed. Marc and Mary Ann are incredible hosts that continue to create amazing meals and experiences.

The texture of the gnocchi was so very pleasing - little pillows of goodness. The main course of polenta, mushrooms and house-made italian sausage with polenta was hearty and wonderful. As always, the cheese course was very tasty with several lical cheeses I had never before tried. (I look forward to having them again at home . Dessert was divine! I am not usually a fan of chocolate, but this was delicious! At this restaurant, they use local ingredients as much as they can, too. Give Campo a try if you haven't already. You are in for a real treat!

I settled on a small dish of gelato. It's nice that you can choose two flavors for your small dish. So at first I said coconuts gelato, and the gentleman working there said it goes well with the mango sherbert. I'm glad I took his advice as this pair of gelato was fabulous together! I was also attempted by the vast array of flavors of individually wrapped taffy so I selected some to be weighed. You just put whatever candy you want in a small red basket, take it to the counter and they'll weigh it up. So fun! The store was very clean, orderly, inviting and tempting. The gentleman behind the counter was very personable. I'll definitely revisit the store whenever I'm in Mount Horeb.

After placing our order, the waitress brought a plate with two small pieces of bread and a little compound butter to our table. While the butter was interesting and tasted good, the bread was quite dried out on the sides and hard to chew. I ordered the Pasta ai Frutti di Mare which was at best okay. The scallops were over-cooked and hard. The fish also was a bit dry and overcooked. The shrimp and clams were okay, but the sauce was very unremarkable - tasted like a simple tomato sauce. My husband had the Surf & Turf which was surprisingly served in a bowl with the steak already cut into small pieces?! The steak was not medium rare as requested, but over-cooked. He said the taste was okay. The decor of the place was rather dark and bland looking with a few pictures on the wall. We had a somewhat long wait between our bread and main course. The music was good. Considering our bill was $94 for two drinks and two pasta dishes, I was disappointed.

Our server was very friendly and attentive, without making us feel rushed or forgotten. I like that they present bread to the table. It's something to occupy us while we are waiting for the plates to arrive. The burrata caprese salad was fresh and creamy tasty, with just the right amount of crunch from the greens and zip to the dressing, from the balsamic vinaigrette. My chicken piccata was fresh, light and bright tasting. The chicken was tender with just the right hint of lemon with a bit of salty brine from the capers. There was the perfect texture of softness and crunch to the steamed broccoli. My wife's Bistecca was a tender medium with the a subtle taste of coffee in the rub. The squash and carrots complemented the dish nicely. Unfortunately, we were too full to have dessert, but we will be back!

This place is right off a bike path and bikers were stopping by and grabbing a drink. The outer patio was pretty packed too even though it was pretty hot outside. They had a food menu and it was pretty comprehensive though my only complaint about the food was that the menu price didn't reflect what was actually being charged when the server rang it up. The menu says $20 for the wagyu burger but you get rang up for $22. I didn't try to fuss. Anyways, the beer absolutely blew me out of the way so it's a rare case where I will let water go under the bridge. Their version of the fries that they call potato smash was very phenomenal and probably some of the best fries I had though it looked pretty easy to possibly make if i were to attempt this at home. We got other food items like chips and salsa which were also really good! The team was very knowledgeable about their side of selection because my wife can only have the vegan options. Most of their ciders were pretty good too. They had a dessert cider that was featured as well and they let me try a sample. It was phenomenal and I ended up taking plenty of cider home with me. The staff here were a pleasure to chat with and wait times for the food weren't bad either. I didn't even mention that the theme of this place is absolutely phenomenal and beautiful too. Overall, i don't know if I'll be back to this part of town but I will come back here strictly for the hard cider from This place. Thankfully they also sell their products in Janesville which to me is close enough.

The location right off the bike path makes it super convenient for cyclists, and the atmosphere is great. Relaxed, welcoming, and a fun spot to grab some food and drinks. Our food took unusually long to come out, which was the only real downside, but it was worth the wait! I love the local feel and the focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. If you're biking out to Mount Horeb, definitely put Brix on your list. It's a great place to take a break, refuel, and enjoy the afternoon. We'll be back!

Highlights from my visits are: - A wide selection of produce here that's all fresh with both organic and non-organic options. - Fancy hippie drinks section with locally made kombucha - Lots of different cuts of meat with organic options available - Shelves stocked with a good selection of packaged foods - Beer, wine, liquor section with a huge walk-in beer cooler. In total we were there for 90 minutes. We were seated upstairs, so we all got to take the elevator up. That was fun. We were kind of seated in a corner booth behind a wall, so I feel like maybe we were forgotten about a little bit by our server. I also think he was the only one working upstairs, so he might have been a bit overwhelmed. But he was very nice and took care of all of our requests. All of our food was decently good. Three of us got the bbq bacon style burger, one got a salad, the kids got the Mac bites, and one of us got the brisket sandwich. I was happy to see that one of the side options was carrots and celery, and they were big pieces of veggies for the sides. Would I come back here again? It's certainly not out of the question. The Peach Mimosa was huge and flawless. The tea was fine... had that strong mineral taste that you get in SW Wisconsin... but that is expected. Ordered the "Flower Sprouts" appetizer... roasted Brussel Sprouts, Broccoli, Cauliflower with cheese. The Brussel Sprouts were about half the plate and they were HARD... like even a knife would not cut one... a fork could not pierce one. They were derived by a runner... and the waitress did not check back with us... so we had to tell the food runner when he brought the meals. Lunch was the Deluxe Caesar Salad, and I added Chicken. Husband had the 9" Thai Chicken Pizza. Both delivered by a food runner.. still have not had the waitress stop by. The Thai pizza was BLAND.... and very very tough. Was supposed to have a cracker like crust. Despite having been cut in the kitchen.. the slices could not be easily eaten. Hard to cut with a knife... and chewing was difficult. He at a bit of it and gave up. My DELUXE Caesar Salad with chicken.... had very little dressing. The mixed greens were mostly the bottom end of the stalks... no tomatoes (as pictured. I had to look for the cheese. A few croutons and oddly Polenta. The dressing tasted like it was oil and vinegar with a bit of Caesar dressing mixed in... and again, very little of that too. Still have not been approached by the waitress... last saw her when the drinks were delivered. No offer for a refill on my Iced Tea... cuz... well, she would have to come by the table to do that. She was there, but kept going by us as she waited on other tables. Finally my husband put his credit card on the edge of the table... trying to signal that we were READY to leave. After about five minutes of that... I finally had to flag her down.... and she stopped and asked if we wanted boxes... because the food was obviously not eaten... especially his pizza. Told her of the issues... and she said... I will see what I can do. Came back and said the appetizer was taken off the bill. (woo woo). Again... nice place, nice atmosphere... but service and food were greatly lacking.
