Madison has some good chocolate places. My thoughtful co-worker brought me back this treat and I must say, more delicious chocolate from Madison. Cute little boxes and cute graphics with a guy chasing the chocolate burglar. Chocolate is very rich, but also very good. Delicious! Perfect treat.

Is it considered an addiction if I stop every time I'm in Oregon, or would I have to start driving to Oregon for their chocolate to tip the scale? Either way, give me more please. My introduction to their chocolate was in sample form and I immediately bought a few pieces "to share" with my boyfriend and roommate, not divulging that I was giving them one piece each and the rest were for me. Whoops! The Chocolate Caper specializes in praline - a soft, meltier chocolate with a snappier top. It's not the sugar/nut combo you're probably picturing; the owner, Dan, explained there are different types of praline (and pronunciations) and each has its own unique identity. The bases for the pralines are almond, hazelnut, toffee almond, and peanut butter, and come in white, milk, or dark chocolate varieties. My favorites are the dark chocolate peanut butter and the dark chocolate toffee almond. I surprised myself in enjoying the milk chocolate hazelnut better than the dark; given the choice between milk and dark I almost invariably prefer the latter. Each variety has a different drizzle pattern and there is a photo guide included in each box so you don't have to guess and can save your favorites for last. CC also offers other confections, and they recently obtained a liquor license and are in the process of developing wine tastings. My only warning is that once you stop in, you'll want to stop in again, and again, and again - their unique offerings and lovely staff will keep you coming back for more.

Loved the chocolate but the atmosphere is a bit weird. I would still recommend this place for online orders.

I'm not a huge fan of this chocolate. It's not terrible, but there are definitely better choices around Madison.

It was an excellent recommendation. We ordered a variety of items from the cases. The cherry cobbler was especially memorable, but everything was good. Not to mention it was quite popular! I loved the selection of hot chocolate options and the translation for each. However I wasn't very impressed by the French one I ordered (dark chocolate plus vanilla). It was good but not as decadent as I was anticipating and even with 30 min to close I asked to dine in but they gave me everything in Togo containers. I also got a Swede sandwich- which was ham, Swiss and Dijon mustard. Nothing to write home about. It was very very average. However I did get an almond cookie with chocolate ganache which was fantastic. Sitting at a table in this shop and looking at all the treats was great. I have a feeling if I come back at an earlier time this place could really blow me away, but as of right now. It's mid. I'm not impressed and what was left at the end of the day was just average. Also the three items cost me about $20 so I would say this place Is on the pricer end

Upon walking in you immediately know you're going to love the place. It's so cute and cozy. There is indoor and outdoor seating, cute decor, and chocolate galore. 2. I ordered the drinkable hot chocolate. It was good, although a little thick. I would have wanted a bit of almond milk to thin it a bit but I loved how rich it was. My daughter also got the kids chocolate frappe (I think that's what it was called) she loved it! 3. We received one free truffle each since it our first time there. We ordered the mint, vanilla bean, and turtle truffles. I also ordered the sea salt caramel truffle and my daughter got a gaming boy stick chocolate. So cool. 4. We also tried their cookies so tasty! 5. The lady working was sooooo sweet. Omg, she truly was. I'm so sorry I didn't get her name but she made us feel welcome (almost everyone in Wisconsin made us feel that way) and she was no different. What a pleasant experience as we headed back home. Highly recommend that you drop in when you are in the Madison area!
