I have family in Mount Horeb, so we visit once or twice a year. Sjolinds was recommended to us by…read moreour neighbor in our Colorado mountain community who is also from Mt Horeb. It was an excellent recommendation. We ordered a variety of items from the cases. The cherry cobbler was especially memorable, but everything was good. We've decided to make a visit to Sjolinds for breakfast/brunch on our way out of town a part of future Mt Horeb visits.

Not to mention it was quite popular! I loved the selection of hot chocolate options and the translation for each. However I wasn't very impressed by the French one I ordered (dark chocolate plus vanilla). It was good but not as decadent as I was anticipating and even with 30 min to close I asked to dine in but they gave me everything in Togo containers. I also got a Swede sandwich- which was ham, Swiss and Dijon mustard. Nothing to write home about. It was very very average. However I did get an almond cookie with chocolate ganache which was fantastic. Sitting at a table in this shop and looking at all the treats was great. I have a feeling if I come back at an earlier time this place could really blow me away, but as of right now. It's mid. I'm not impressed and what was left at the end of the day was just average. Also the three items cost me about $20 so I would say this place Is on the pricer end

They have Jelly Bellies, Fudge, Ice Cream, and all sorts of interesting confections. The walls are LITERALLY covered with them. They also make authentic sodas with all sorts of flavors. I was on the hunt for raspberry sorbet, and they had it. The single scoop serving I ordered was very generous, and came with a pink spoon that changed to purple when it was cooled in the ice cream (Parents - keep this a secret and watch them figure it out!) This place is kept very clean. The list of stuff they have goes on quite a bit longer, I hit the high points. The service was good, the place was spotless, the tables didn't rock, and the ice cream was good. What's not to like?

Unfortunately, she wasn't there the day we came, but everyone else working was so friendly (sweeter than the candy, if you will). The decor, it's the perfect synergetic aesthetic that is that candy shop in the Harry Potter movies and Target mom's 'candy bar' search on Pinterest. There was even some fun jazzy music playing while we were browsing and eating. Really all more that I needed was some pigtails and the patience for a lollipop, but alas. We got a 4pack of truffles, choco bars and other bits and bobs. There's your classics (fudge/licorice,etc) , some funky new ones (like these candy caps we got - sweet tasting mushrooms?), and even ice cream! Truffles (all dark chocolate): Hazelnut, Amaretto, Salted caramel, Cappuccino The superstars were the salted caramel and cappuccino. TLDR: a trip to this place wArrants a trip to the dentist but yolo for these truffles. Also women owned businesses FTW.
