The time to revise my old prescription had arrived…read more Dr. Varriccio sat me in front of his optical equipment and afterwards he indicated I needed new lenses. Took them about a week to make the new lenses, which will be mounted on the frame I provided. It cost me around $180.00 after which I was handed my new lenses/glasses. Dr. Varricchio indicated I should wear them for few days and come back if there was any complaint. After few days I returned and indicated to him not being able to read fine print as well as not being able to see afar (I could see better without my glasses). Once again he sat me in front of his optical equipment when finally he said "THIS IS AS FAR AS I CAN GO" !!!!! Pretty unprofessional if you ask me. His office did charge Humana my, medical insurance company. I reported the above issue with Humana and as we speak am already dealing with their Grievance Department. Wasn't even man enough to call me on the phone about this. And to top it all off we know this man from when he first got in town many years ago. So now I am stuck with 4 pair of glasses we can't wear and $1500.00 in a whole which took me almost a year to save to get us glasses. And we are not young people we are seniors.

I've been trying to get in touch with these folks at…read morespecifically the ophthamology department for my ailing father and I've been placed on long holds each time for 5 phone calls (the longest I could stand was 45 minutes before I had to go back to work). When you call, it immediately puts you on this presumptuous classical violin music that I've heard on repeat for hours at this point in totality, with intermittent messages to use their "callback service." The callback service doesn't work (I've set two different phone numbers in their alleged "callback service." It's been 72 hours and neither device has been called back. My phones are certainly not broken, both are receiving calls from everyone BUT them completely fine. Hit 0 and it sends you back to the message to use their horse sh*t callback service. Or they're filtering area codes outside 845 which would be insane as most people are on mobile phones these days). They are certainly open the days of the week I called. It appears this phone number is for an ophthamologist, not even an internist or infectious disease doctor (yes, I realize there's a pandemic going on, but this practice seems irrelevant to that. I've been getting responses back faster from my hospital and we are in a high-case area for coronavirus and a far higher population density, if that tells you something about efficiency and care). My father came in for a visit in response to recent vision loss / blurriness and they struggled to understand what the doctor (Dr. Whitzel? Witzel?) was saying, so I've been trying to contact them to clarify confusion from my parents who said they did not understand a lot of what was covered in the visit. Yes, of course I am concerned when the only thing they understood in the whole visit was "he has a brain problem." I am on the other side of the country, and unable to accompany them to these visits (they are hard of English and resistant to hiring nurses / help), but I do often rely on having to call / followup with doctors to clarify findings / next steps. If I responded this way to my job I would have been fired yesterday -- no, probably last week. Happy to change this whenever this office decides to respond to their queue of "callbacks."

I felt more relieved after meeting the medical staff. They were very nice. They were very professional and prepared me for surgery. The procedure went very well and I didn't develop any infections.
